New Story and Creators Announced for SUPERMAN #31 and #32

DC Comics has announced that “Superman #31” and “Superman #32” will now feature a different story by a different creative team from that which had previously been solicited.

The creative team of witer James Bonny and artist Tyler Kirkham are behind this newly announced two-part “Breaking Point” story about Lois Lane…

Superman #31
Lois Lane is after the interview of a lifetime. The subject of her Daily Planet article: Deathstroke the Terminator! Determined to get ‘inside the mind of a killer,’ Lois follows a trail of bodies across the globe and comes face to face with the ultimate assassin. But the encounter turns deadly and, with Superman half a world away, the interview of a lifetime could cost Lois Lane her life! Don’t miss part one of ‘Breaking Point’!

Superman #32
The concluding chapter of ‘Breaking Point’. Deathstroke has come to Metropolis… and he’s got his sights set on Superman. Slade Wilson gives the Man of Steel an impossible choice: maintain his ideals and let the love of his life die, or save Lois Lane and become a killer himself. Will Deathstoke push Superman to his breaking point?

The two covers for these issues, which remain scheduled for release on September 20 and October 4, will feature art by Ian Churchill.

Originally these two issues of “Superman” were solicited to feature the first two parts in the “Imperius Rex” story by regular series writers Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason with art by Doug Mahnke. DC Comics has not commented on why the change was made or how it will affect future issues.

I like these little one or two-part stories by guest-creators. Especially when they focus on Superman’s supporting cast.

Kind of sounds like filler, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be good.
