On Kandor, Kara manages to argue against a heavy punishment towards her and Lesla-Lar, convincing the Science Council to allow her to mentor Lesla and change her for the better. Lesla is less sure of this route to success, but she thanks Kara anyway and decides to give it her best shot. Setting off instantly, the duo begin their superheroics, with Lesla now taking on the name Luminary.

After saving quite a few lives (a feat that nearly goes to Lesla’s head), she and Kara, alongside Lena, decide to go to a masquerade together and have a ball (sorry for the terrible pun). A lot of things go wrong there: Lesla hurts a harasser and lets Kara down, Kara crushes hard on a hot goth guy, and a Kandorain substance Lesla smuggled out of the city to help her turns the harasser into an absorbing monster. Kara is more angry at herself than Lesla, and the two manage to save the people with their freeze breath, and then by having Kara enter the substance and break it from the inside with her love.

The day is saved, and better yet, Lesla doesn’t fall back to her vices. She decides to do better, and even makes a friend: Luna Lustrum, who seems to possess psionic abilities.

Unfortunately, not all of the substance was caught… And a kitten eats some of it and begins to change…

5Story – 5: This was easily my favorite issue so far, which is saying a lot, because last issue was excellent too! Lesla’s arc continues to fascinate, I really like that she didn’t just fall back to her old habits after failing, the goth club location was inspired, and the cast keeps expanding in interesting ways! If there was a Supergirl show again, I’d want it to be like this, that’s for sure! Very excited to see what comes next in the hot new book of the summer!

5Art – 5: Lots of lovely dark shades and colors, Decay’s design is especially eye catching!

5Cover Art – 5: Very Silver Age esque!

4Variant Cover Art – 4: Excellent as ever.

5Variant Cover Art – 5:Angelic stuff.

5Variant Cover Art – 5: So gosh darn cute, oh my god.
