Following hot on the heels of the announcement that Teri Hatcher would be joining the cast of Supergirl, Kevin Sorbo has been announced as another addition in the latter half of the present season. He will be playing a villain, though the identity of said villain has yet to be revealed.
Andrew Kreisberg, executive producer of the show, had this to say about the announcement:
“Since his days as Hercules, Kevin Sorbo has brought such a strong presence to the screen and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join us on ‘Supergirl.’ ”
Sorbo, best known for his role on Hercules, is sure to bring a more attention to series, given his history of fan-favorite roles. Watch this space for more news as it develops.
That’s funny. He was my dark horse pick to play Superman at the start of the season. I thought he would be more age-appropriate as a colleague of Cat’s. Plus, I always thought his Hercules was basically “Superman in a tunic.”
He nearly *was* cast – back in 1993.
Now, as for his character, I wonder if it’s not General Zod – or even Brainiac?
I guess money talks especially since I doubt he would be down with some of the show’s themes.
Heh. Be really funny if he played Atlas…
With Dean I always thought he was a good Clark but very much less convincing as Superman. If Sorbo had gotten the part it might have been the exact opposite. I also remember reading that Gerard Christopher from the Superboy tv series had the part in the bag until the producers found out that he had played the part previously.
I heard the same thing about Gerard Christopher also.
LOL, it would have been cool if he was cast as Hercules. Kara walks up to him is all like: “You’re Hercules?”
Teri will play Faora and Sorbo will play Non. The master plan? To release the General. Calling it now. 😛
