I for one am glad that the classic style is back. And that’s really all I have to say about the truck topic. I know that this is not what you talked about in your video Scotty V, but what bothers me is that there will be another show without superman. I’m fan of the show Supergirl, however as a fan of superman I’m not happy to hear about a show that takes place in Superman’s city without him. To be fair though, I will give it a chance. I just hope that one of these days they let Superman be… Read more »
I meant to say trunks not truck.
My fingers got ahead of me.lol Still, I think I’ve said all I wanted to say about this topic in last week’s posts. I would say more, but I think what I’ve said pretty much covers it.
Nothing beats the classic! I’m glad Superman is wearing his classic uniform again. I’m still not sure on how I feel about what’s on his wrists, but I’ll give it a chance.
Like I said before, it’s back because it actually works. Not all non-trunks designs are horrible but the treating of the classic looks as persona non grata was always pretentious and silly IMO. I think people are sick of creators coming at the character from “he’s lame we gotta fix that” or in answer to “do this so people won’t make fun of me for liking him.” It so often seems like it’s always Superman that’s viewed as the problem rather than long strings of bad creative and editorial decisions. Why the needless invective? If you don’t like the outfit, design a better one. That’s the problem. All of the rut about history, and what a “kid would design” is just fallacious. Bottomline, the outfit is synonymous with Superman, and if you are concerned about 5 year olds laughing at you, which is flat out false, create a better design.
DC had 7 different outfits for Superman since 2011. None of them took.
I believe the look of what Henry wears, especially the brightened up colors in the JL, is far more relevant in today’s climate than the original that’s been around forever style.
Scott, when Superman stories don’t look like Superman stories and the character doesn’t look like himself THEN YOU DON’T HAVE SUPERMAN STORIES. You have stories that carry Superman’s name.
Like that old Cream song “I’m So Glad” I’m glad, I’m glad I’m glad” the classic-signature look is back. Yeah, it took the baby-steps route to get here but, it is here and it is still the greatest look there is -Not to mention- Future-Proof! Thank you DC!! The attached belted trunks that make up part of Superman’s costume never was a problem becuase there was nothing wrong with the costume to begin with. However, if there is any laughing to be done at someone’s attire, then it is people’s attitudes and the idiosncryces that govern their primative ridged patterns… Read more »
