Further Series Regulars Cut for “Superman & Lois” Season 4

Cast

Earlier in the week, on the back of the announcement that The CW had renewed Season 4 of “Superman & Lois,” we learned that required budget cuts would see a number of series regular cast members cut from the show.

While we reported that Dylan Walsh, who plays General Sam Lane, was one of those casualties, Deadline.com now reports that Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang), Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing), Inde Navarrette (Sarah Cushing), Wolé Parks (John Henry Irons), Tayler Buck (Natalie Irons) and Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo) have also been cut as series regular cast members for the show’s upcoming new season.

This leaves Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent/Superman), Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), Michael Bishop (Jonathan Kent) and Alex Garfin (Jordan Kent) as the only remaining series regular cast members, with the others listed above likely to return as guest stars/recurring characters in Season 4, which will have a total of 10 episodes.

In more positive news, Michael Cudlitz, who is set to be introduced as Lex Luthor in the final two episodes of Season 3, will also be included as a series regular cast member next season.

Wow! Just the family huh? This reminds me way back a long time ago when NBC cancelled Star Trek. Fas sent gobs of mail to the network asking them to change their minds. The network gave the show another chance. BUT the budget was drastically cut and the season was very bad. It went under again. Next Generation came along much later after the first Star Trek movie, which is what saved the franchise. This is worse. The CW has dropped all the supporting characters that helped make Superman and Lois interesting. I can only hope we will still see… Read more »

I’m assuming they’re heading back to Metropolis or else Smallville is going to be a ghost town.

Based on the previous three seasons, I trust the writers, actors and others to make the most with what they have to work with. That doesn’t answer the question of why the show’s budget has been cut so drastically, as if CW were facing bankruptcy.

This seems like a case of the network setting up the show for failure. I doubt very much it survives the season. It’s seems most likely that it will now be a totally different show. Sad to see.

Hopefully they can maintain some level of quality, and give the show a proper sendoff. Can’t imagine a fifth season is likely, so hopefully the writers can have that in mind and treat it as a final season. Also, hopefully some of the cast members who have been let go can have a guest appearance or two.

This is not looking good. However, the writers have been very good thus far. So, perhaps they’ll find a clever way to keep this show interesting without all of these fantastic supporting characters.

I think we shouldn’t jump to conclusions about how the future of the series will look just yet. The show has an excellent main cast, excellent writers, and an excellent director. That’s more than half of what the series needs to be successful. While it is sad to see these cast members go, keep in mind that we still have the Kent family, which is the hart of the show. And whatever is lacking next season, I’m sure they will make more than up for with what the series does well at. I think that season four will still be… Read more »

I have seen some complain that even though we are getting a season four of Superman and Lois, that it will be of a lesser budget, and that it will have less cast members. But you know what? We shouldn’t worry about this. Instead, this is a time for celebration. Superman and Lois has been renewed! This is fantastic news! For a long while now, it wasn’t looking like we weren’t getting a fourth season. But it’s happening. It’s time to celebrate! We are getting a season four of Superman and Lois! 🙂 It’s a good time to be a… Read more »
