With the return of in-person conventions, DC has decided that there will be no DC FanDome virtual event in 2022.
With the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic putting an end to comic conventions and pop culture events in 2020 and 2021, DC Comics created a mega, immersive virtual fan experience online, bringing the universe of DC to life with stars, filmmakers and creators behind its biggest films, TV series, games and comics together.
While the lack of DC content at recent conventions had fans speculating whether DC was holding back announcement in favor of doing their own thing in a 2022 version of DC FanDome, it seems that’s not the case, with DC confirming today that there will be no online event this year.
DC released a statement to Popverse reading, “With the return of in person events, Warner Bros. Discovery is excited to be able to engage with our fans live at numerous comic-cons around the world and will not be scheduling DC FanDome for 2022.”
Supposedly this has nothing to do with the recent upheaval at Warner Bros. Discovery, and is just a reflection of how things have returned to normal. Although that doesn’t explain why DC hasn’t really had a presence at recent cons.
