Legendary comic book artist Tim Sale has died, aged 66.

DC’s Jim Lee posted on his Twitter account a few days ago that Sale had been admitted to hospital with “severe health issues”.
Today, Sale’s own ArtBySale account informed the world that Sale had passed away. “He passed with the love of his life beside him, and loves all of you very much.”

Best known for his collaborative work with writer Jeph Loeb, Sale’s contribution to the world of Superman will forever be remembered for his work on 1998’s 4-issue miniseries “Superman For All Seasons”. Sale also worked on the 2007 “Superman Confidential” series with Darwyn Cooke.

Our condolences to his family and friends.

I’m so sorry to hear that we’ve lost another inspiring human being in this world. 🙁

Superman for all Seasons remains my favorite Superman book. I wrote a glowing review back on the old message boards (I won’t say that I miss those days entirely, just my hair from them). He was a regular at Seattle’s Emerald City Comic Con and I never got my copy signed because the line was always too long :’ (
I did see him on a panel for Batman’s 80th anniversary, he seemed in awe of being a part of such a big pop culture milestone.
