August 1, 2016: Watch “Superman: The Movie” at the AFI Silver Theatre in Maryland

superman-the-movie-posterThe AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring, Maryland will be screening “Superman: The Movie” for two days only, this coming weekend.

THE OMEN director Richard Donner proved to have the right sensibility to usher the original superhero from the pages of comic books into the world of cinema. Despite production challenges and producer battles, the film was a hit thanks to the inspired casting of Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel, state-of-the-art and judiciously deployed special effects and the celebrated, soaring score by John Williams. The supporting cast includes Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Marlon Brando as Superman’s father Jor-El, Jackie Cooper as Daily Planet editor Perry White and Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor.
