DC UNIVERSE ORIGINAL MOVIES: 10TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION

COMING AUGUST 15 ON DIGITAL AND NOVEMBER 7 ON BLU-RAY FROM WARNER BROS. HOME ENTERTAINMENT AND DC ENTERTAINMENT

All 30 Animated Films in Enduring Franchise PLUS All-New Special Features Included in Box Set

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC Entertainment celebrate a decade of heroic animation with the release of the DC Universe Original Movies: 10th Anniversary Collection, a comprehensive box set of all 30 films, 5 animated shorts, new special features and exclusive collectible items coming November 7, 2017 to Blu-rayâ„¢. The entire 30-film set will also be available on Digital starting August 15, 2017.

Launched in 2007 with the landmark release of Superman Doomsday, the DC Universe Original Movies are based on or inspired by storylines and/or characters from within the ever-expanding DC library. Produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, the stories range from films based upon iconic DC Super Hero stories (Superman Doomsday, Justice League: The New Frontier, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: The Killing Joke) to films inspired by themes from within DC history (Batman vs. Robin was inspired by “The Court of Owls,” Superman vs. The Elite was inspired by “What’s so Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?”) to original stories (Justice League: Gods and Monsters, Batman and Harley Quinn).

The DC Universe Original Movies: 10th Anniversary Collection will include all 30 films – from Superman Doomsday to the all-new Batman and Harley Quinn, as well as newly released commemorative editions of Wonder Woman and Justice League: The New Frontier. The 32-disc box set will also include all five “DC Showcase” animated shorts – The Spectre, Green Arrow, Jonah Hex, Catwoman and Superman/Shazam: The Return of Black Adam. The details of the special features will be announced later this summer.

“It’s been an amazing journey from the initial concept of bringing comic book pages to screen to the completion of 30 animated films spotlighting the mesmerizing characters and stories of the DC library,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing. “We are proud to celebrate this first decade of filmmaking with an impressive box set filled with exciting extras beyond these stunning films themselves.”

10th Anniversary collection – featuring none of the versions of the characters found on the cover of the set!

Though that is a pretty awesome image.

Look at the first five movies: 1 Superman, 1 Justice League, 1 Batman, 1 Wonder Woman, 1 Green Lantern. Now look at the latest 13: 6 JL, 6 Batman, 1 Teen Titans. Dear DC, please bring back some balance here. Let some other characters have a chance.

Seriously. These movies started out as a much more artistic endeavor than the cash-cow it’s become.

Though frankly, Gods and Monsters was pretty amazing.

This would be really cool if I didn’t have all but nine of these movies.

So basically it’s a re-re-release of DC animation films that some of us already have. And when new releases arrive, we will buy them anyway. Pass. The Cover looks great though.

I’ll get it because I’m weak. There’s quite a few of the movies that I don’t own at all or only have on dvd, so there is some value in that regard. Will certainly be interested to see what the price will be.

Is Superman in the current animated movie continuity based on the new 52 universe? If so, will the rebirth/reborn Superman story arc be made in animated form? That’s something I’d like to see.

They appear to be, more or less, following the continuity of the comics, so everything that has come out after Flaspoint has been in the new52. I’m hoping they come around to the Rebirth story.

When they first started making these features they were pretty good! Probably like a lot of you, bought several of them. The last one I bought was Superman-Unbound. That was good! But since then I don’t know where their going with these features. All these “dark” series are so off the wall. No more decent JL stories. Can’t seem to get a decent Superman story. Instead they’ve gone in some weird direction. I mean Batman-The Killing Joke was explainable. This might be a good box set, but I wish they would give us stories and action like they did at… Read more »
