With this week’s launch of “Injustice 2”, Superman now holds the Guinness World Record for being the longest running videogame character, enduring longer than gaming megastars such as PAC-Man and Mario.
According to the official GuinessWorldRecords.com website, Superman achieved this statues on May 16, 2017 when Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition editor Stephen Daultrey handed Ed Boon from NetherRealm Studios with the World Record certificate with Superman having been a videogame character for 38 years and 62 days.
Superman’s videogame debut came in December 1978 with the release of the “Superman” game for the Atari 2600. Since then, the Man of Steel has featured in many videogames, with varying success.
Look out for this record – plus many more – in the new Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition annual, releasing in September 2017.

A shame the Superman games stink. That has to change.
Ugh. Did it have to be the game where he’s the villain that put him on the map for this?
