I really enjoyed dean cain’s portrayal of Clark Kent, but he definitely has a political affiliation and he should not be pulling Superman into that. The character doesn’t belong to him. Superman is a character many use to escape the ugliness of the world and therefore should be left out of the politics of today, which is very divisive. Dean has been recently showing himself to be someone who is just looking to capitalize on Superman for a paycheck and hasn’t been coming across as a real ambassador. From my understanding (and I could be wrong) he Is just using… Read more »
Yes I was very disheartened a few years ago when I learned that Dean felt the way he does. He was my absolute favorite Superman during his time playing him. I loved the way the show portrayed all the characters. Now I don’t even think I can show my girls, which I had planned to do.
I respectfully disagree with you on what you said about the American way Scott. It’s somthing that I believe Superman would continue to say. I don’t believe it excludes anyone. As I’ve said before, I believe that the American way means freedom. Not something that excludes others, but an invitation for them to be free as well. That’s just how I see it.
You can certainly disagree. I love the “idea” of “The American Way” as what the ideal of America was meant to be. Historically, we’ve never really reached that ideal. But the idea of it is certainly sound. This particular time in history we are at one of our lowest points in terms of how we look around the world. Further, people in other lands across the globe, even when we aren’t an international laughing stock, can tend to feel left out when one particular land is mentioned in a motto. A motto that was only introduced to support war bonds… Read more »
Thank you for your refreshing viewpoint, Scotty. It’s evident that “The American Way” means different things to different people – as opposed to the explicit definitions of truth and justice – and will therefore, particularly in this day and age, cause citizens treated unfavourably by “The American Way” to speak out. Is “The American Way” to birth a country in genocide and then be built by slaves? Is it to deny equal rights to people because of gender, race and sexual orientation? Heck, the Civil Rights Act was passed only a mere decade before Chris Reeve uttered the phrase. Is… Read more »
You’re welcome and thank YOU for your words here. What a great way to say what I’m thinking in a much better and concise way. I often fail or turn people off because I come across very set in my opinionated ways. I do that for two reasons… I often really feel that way but I’m also doing an opinion piece on a video segment and I’m flying by the seat of my pants saying things that come at me as I spout off at the mouth. I’m a talking head. But I try to be entertaining and somewhat insightful… Read more »
Couldn’t even get through the whole segment. Your description of our present administration was ABSOLUTE BUNK. I find your application of this character is to suit your personal parallel needs to verify the chaos we’re enduring, is nothing more than…”YOUR” personal description! (at least in this GS segment) There are three major people in the US responsible for the lawless violent behavior we’ve been forced to put up with. Not only are they so called liberals but ALL the ruinous damage and violence we’re seeing is,…. wait for it,….in liberal states. States that they support and condone. I’ve seen Cain… Read more »
Well said, Redcape. Frankly, it was a chore getting through Scotty’s latest segment. Like, seriously, it was rough. It was illformed, silly, and clearly Scotty doesn’t have a real firm handle on politics outside his bubble. But honestly, his self-loathing goes beyond politics. As he said it, he’s embarrassed to be an American. I’m a liberal, I live in one of the most liberal states in the country, and the real embarrassments are people like Scotty who say things like that. They don’t speak for true liberals, or frankly, the vast majority of Americans, who are good, compassionate people. Also,… Read more »
Again, my Lex/superman conservative/liberal joke was sarcastic tongue in cheek. And I said “typically less evil” which could mean any amount of evil or none. America is in a very bad place right now and our current leadership is most certainly a laughing stock. People want to come here because it is still a place where people can try to make their dreams come true. The current leadership in this country is most certainly not “cool,” or “open-minded” or “inclusive.” That’s what I’m talking about. Advocating against masks and against science and for sending kids back to school even though… Read more »
Ah… So you feel people come here because it’s a place where dreams come true? Interesting? Maybe part of the… Oh I don’t know… American way? Just a thought? As for quoting my use of “cool” “open minded” and “inclusive,” you should look back and note that I was talking about Steve, not our current leadership. So I’m not really sure why you’re re-quoting me in that context. Seems out of place. No? I’m also not quite sure why you’re changing the conversation to be about masks, school, etc… You want to debate those decisions, fine, but it seems beyond… Read more »
Ok. Wow. Sorry you feel that way.
Good for you, Scott. Once again, well spoken and thanks for saying what needs to be said. America has never been in a worse place and the choice it faces in November is more of a moral one than a political one. There isn’t a shred of doubt in my mind that the choice would be as crystal clear to Superman as it is to me, and honestly, I find it difficult to understand how anyone who sees Superman as a role model – as I always have done – could see things differently. Superman wouldn’t be on the side… Read more »
Quite an imagination. Fabricated to the max.
Is it? While I hope you’re right. I think the continuing evidence says otherwise.
Seems all too clear to me.
