December 4, 2015: Breaking Down the New "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" Trailer

Having now had a full 24 hours to watch and re-watch all three minutes of the second full "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" trailer, here's my break down of what we saw - scene by scene.

As a car pulls up to the fundraising event, the media go into a frenzy trying to take snapshots of the new arrival.

"Who's that? Clark Kent asks of the photographer standing behind him. "You must be new. That is Bruce Wayne." Either Clark is just pretending to be naive, or he's just making conversation, because there's no way, as a reporter, he wouldn't know what Bruce Wayne looks like.

We know from the previous trailer that Clark Kent is very interested in writing an expose on Batman. Whether he knows at this point or not that Bruce Wayne IS the Batman or not isn't something we know yet. Clark approaches Bruce, shaking his hand.

"Mr. Wayne! Clark Kent, Daily Planet. What's your position on the bat vigilante in Gotham?"

As he asks his question and talks about Batman's modus operandi we see footage of a criminal handcuffed and branded by Batman, and the front page of a Gotham newspaper.

"Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city," continues Clark. "People living in fear. He thinks he's above the law."

Bruce Wayne isn't impressed with the line of questioning and retorts, "The Daily Planet criticizing those who think they're above the law is... well, hypocritical wouldn't you say? Considering every time your hero rescues a cat out of a tree you write a puff-piece editorial... about an alien who could burn the whole place down."

As he says this we see a shot of Metropolis, with people walking through the plaza where the Superman statue and monument to the people who died during the battle with Zod stands. We also see Superman saving a Russian rocket and coming to the rescue of flood victims.

Clark comes to Superman's (his own) defense saying, "Most of the world doesn't share your opinion, Mr. Wayne."

"Maybe it's the Gotham City in me," Bruce replies, insulting Superman by adding. "I have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns." (Says the man who dresses up like a giant Bat to scare people).

As they stare each other down, Clark and Bruce are interrupted by Lex Luthor. "Boys!"

In an over-the-top performance (which I think is Lex Luthor's own public secret identity, covering up the real menace that is the private Lex Luthor) the host of the fundraising event exclaims, "Mmm. Bruce Wayne meets Clark Kent. I love it! I love bringing people together. How are we? Hi, hello." He shakes Bruce's hand, with Bruce simply saying, "Lex."

He turns to Clark, introducing himself as Lex as he shakes Clark's hand. "It is a pleasure... OW!"

Slapping Clark jovially on the chest Lex compliments him on his strong grip saying, "Wow! That is a good grip." He turns to Bruce and says, "You should not pick a fight with this person." And nods at Clark.

We then see the scene where Superman lands in the underground bunker where the Superman "soldiers" kneel as he enters. We also see Superman arrive at the Senate hearing, as protestors and supports wave signs at his arrival.

Lex talks again, speaking to the senator: "You know the oldest lie in America, senator? That power can be innocent."

As Bruce Wayne walks through what appears to be Batman's base of operations and stares at the Bat suit, Alfred argues with him saying, "You're going to go to war."

In his Batman voice, while we look at flashbacks of Superman's fight with Zod, the Dark Knight says, "That son of a bitch brought the war to us!"

As Batman, in his battle armor, faces off against Superman, Alfred's voice says, "You know you can't win this. It's suicide."

The Bat-wing flies over the water, firing at Superman, who is unharmed, but angered... his eyes flaring red with heat-vision.

"The greatest gladiator match in this history of the world: Son of Krypton versus Bat of Gotham!" Lex exclaims cheerfully to Lois Lane. "Your psychotic," she tells him. Non-plussed, Lex replies, "That's a three syllable word for any thought too big for little minds." He flicks her forehead condescendingly.

As Batman crashes through a window, landing on Superman, sending both through to the floor below. The Bat-mobile skid to a halt in front of Superman... and Batman forcing Superman up against a concrete wall, we hear his voice telling Superman, "It's time you learned what it means to be a man..."

We also see more footage from the supposed "dream sequence", with Batman fighting those Superman soldiers... while winged creatures (Parademons?) attack from above.

"Stay down!" Superman yells at Batman, as he knocks him to the ground. "If I wanted it, you'd be dead already!"

We then get quick snippets of that "dream/nightmare" sequence we got a sneak peek of a few days earlier, with Superman ripping the cowl of Batman's head.

As Mercy walks ahead of a chamber carrying the deceased body of Zod, Lex waves her towards him.

"If man won't kill god, the devil will do it!" Luthor yells.

Electricity crackles around the experiment Lex is working on... Something is coming to life. "What have you done?" asks an angry Superman.

A creature leaps from atop a building, causing ruin and destruction as it lands on the street below. As it skids to a halt and the dust clouds part, we see that it is Doomsday!

The creature snorts at Batman, who looks on from his crashed Bat-plane. "Oh sh..." Doomsday's eyes and both glow orange, as the creature builds up a force of its own kind of heat-vision, which it blasts at Batman.

As Batman ducks for cover, the beam of destruction aimed at him is deflected by...

Wonder Woman! He shield momentarily glowing from the force of the blast, she stands slightly ahead of Superman, and looks up over the top of her shield.

"Is she with you?" Superman asks Batman, who has emerged from the wreckage of his plane.

"I thought she was with you," Batman replies.
