August 5, 2009: Superman Homepage at Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con

The Superman Homepage's own Barry Freiman is going to be on hand this weekend reporting on any Superman news coming out of Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con 2009, formerly known as Wizard World Chicago. There should be daily news updates and photos posted throughout the weekend.

According to DC Comics' publicity department in New York, the confirmed list of DC personnel attending hasn't been set yet as most of the staff is "still recovering" from San Diego. Confirmed for certain for the event is DC Comics Senior Story Editor and Chicago Comic-Con special guest Ian Sattler.

In addition to DC's official staff attending Chicago Comic-Con, the convention's mountain of guests boasts such Superman-related luminaries as Margot Kidder (Lois Lane in "Superman", "Superman II" (both versions), "Superman III", and "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace"; Bridget Crosby on "Smallville"); Mark Millar ("Superman: Red Son"); Francis Manapul (upcoming artist on "Adventure Comics"); Brian Azzarello ("Superman: For Tomorrow"); George Perez ("Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds"; "Crisis on Infinite Earths"); JG Jones ("Final Crisis"); Christopher Knight (Peter Brady on "The Brady Bunch" and "The Brady Kids" cartoon where he and the bunch met the Filmation Man of Steel); Ernie Hudson (Cyborg on "The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians"; "Ghostbusters"); Lori Petty (Livewire on "Superman: The Animated Series"); and Roddy Piper (guest on final single-part episode of 1992 "Adventures of Superboy" live-action series).

Other noted celebs appearing include Billy Dee Williams (Harvey Dent in "Batman"); Gil Gerard and Erin Gray ("Buck Rogers" TV show); Nichelle Nichols (Uhura in the original "Star Trek" franchise); Ray Park (Darth Maul in "Star Wars"; Toad in Bryan Singer's "X-Men"), Jeremy Bulloch and Daniel Logan (Boba Fett old and young, respectively), and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca); Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges ("Diff'rent Strokes"); Lou Ferrigno ("The Incredible Hulk"); Alex Meraz ("Twilight: New Moon"); and Taylor Dayne (singer of 80s hits like "Tell It To My Heart").

Tickets are still available at the Wizard World website. You can have breakfast with Margot Kidder and two other celebrities Saturday morning at 8 AM in Grand Ballroom F for $100 with tickets available via TicketLeap.com. You can also converse for free after-convention-hours from 10 PM to 11 PM Friday at the "Shooting the Sh** with Mark Millar" panel in International Ballroom A.
