3Rating - 3 (out of 5): "The son becomes the father and the father the son." - Kara

M'yrnn's memory problems turned from sorrowful side-plot to centre-stage catastrophe this week. His abilities spiraled out of control, inspiring rage and violence in everyone within his radius. Kara took a shot at Mon-El (both a punch and a verbal blow), our incarcerated criminals ran free, and we got a whole lot of hammy DEO guard acting (watch closely - some of their 'I've been hit' faces are laughable).

Among the chaos we also got to see a suited and booted Mon-El. And he looked really, really good. His slick red and blue get-up (like a reversal of the House of El attire) was so good that it made me realize (bear with me on this tangent) that I don't actually like Zachary Levi's Shazam! costume much at all (which will, at some point, probably share the screen with Superman).

Whatever you think of the DCEU, dark and detailed always wins out over bright and cartoony, when it comes to costumes. This show's always been on top form with its hero costumes (villain costumes, not always) and while Shazam! isn't ready yet (and is intended to be a fun, family film), I think maybe their creative team needs to take a look at what Supergirl's wardrobe department have been achieving.

This all allowed for a gorgeous cape-sparring session between Kara and Mon-El. The cape (for those who have them) is the most elegant part of any superhero costume - a billow in the wind, or a slight sway to the side can add heavy iconic weight to any scene. Here, Mon-El taught Kara how to use hers (which apparently is "smart cloth") in battle - comparing her to a bull fighter. They twirled in a flurry of blues and reds, and it was fun to watch (even if it did make David Lyons' ill-fated The Cape spring to mind a little).

The show's comedy was pretty spot on this week - I laughed out loud more than a couple of times. Kara's, "What? I like this shirt!" got me first, even though it's a gag I've seen before. Then M'yrnn pretending to see Zook got me even harder - with the writers turning what could have been an obvious and tiring plot turn into a clever moment.

This was an improvement on last week's tragic toy affair, but it fell a little short of a four star episode, for me. With Lena keeping Samantha reigned in for the time being, we only have the other Worldkillers to keep things interesting. Pestilence is upon us next week, but personally I'm looking forward to Kara and Imra teaming up far more than seeing what our third Worldkiller brings to the table.
