Super Flea

Written by: Ken Pontac
Directed by: Scott Jeralds

Kevin and Krypto check out krypto's old spaceship which is underneath his doghouse and accidentally let out a flea from his home planet which ends up becoming super and begins wreaking havoc on the poor dog. While saving a burning pet shop, the super flea jumps on Krypto and begins feasting on his behind as Krypto desperately looks for a way to get rid of the little annoyance. This was a pretty funny episode that reminded me of the Looney Tunes cartoon where Sylvester is being driven nuts by a hillbilly flea that will not leave. Now what's established in this episode is that apparently, there can even be a super flea and he manages to give Krypto a mighty hard time, plus we also learn Krypto spins in circles really fast when it's time for him to turn into the super dog. This is a goofy episode that's helped by the good animation that's really helped along with funny gags like Kevin's hair being poofed into a poodle style on Krypto's ship and the funny gag when Streaky is attempting to scratch Krypto's back and is thrown around by the super strong flea. There are some very interesting references to Krypton including the (I assumed) kryptonite flea spray which was confusing because why would there be kryptonite flea spray before the planet exploded. I'm just nitpicking, but it was a funny episode.

A Bug's Strife

Written by: Alan Burnett and Paul Dini
Directed by: Scott Jeralds

Krypto and his sidekick Streaky are out on a mission to look for food around the town and end up saving a caterpillar in turmoil, who is about to be blown off by a gust of wind. Krypto sets him down on to a tree and wouldn't you know it, it ends up being set in front of LuthorCorp. Lex Luthor makes his first appearance to play, what else, the villain and looks like a combination of the menacing doctor from the old comics and the scheming millionaire we know now. Lex's presence was a positive for me. He has a massive growth ray used to grow things very big. A weapon to fight Superman? Who knows, but either way Lex's Salamander Ignatius (Who sounds like Paul Lind) gets in to the growth ray attempting to grow the caterpillar big enough to eat, but the caterpillar keeps growing and wreaks havoc on Metropolis as Krypto tries to stop it with disastrous results. Unfortunately, Ignatius is after it too trying to eat it. This is another pretty funny cartoon supported by Streaky's insatiable hunger, which is often a running gag during this episode, and I enjoy the relationships between the characters who are devoted to helping the little guys.
