According to Deadline.com, Shaun Sipos (Melrose Place, The Vampire Diaries) has been cast in the role of Adam Strange for the “Krypton” TV series.
As you’ll recall, “Krypton” is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. The show follows Seg-El, Superman’s grandfather (played by Cameron Cuffe) – whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. He fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
In this version of the story, Adam Strange is a world-weary human who finds himself stranded on Krypton as the unlikely mentor to Seg-El.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Adam Strange debuted in the comic book “Showcase #17” published in 1958. Created by Julius Schwartz and Murphy Anderson, Adam was accidentally transported to the planet of Rann via a Zeta-Beam during an archaeological excursion, leading to many strange and wonderful adventures.
“Krypton” is produced by Warner Horizon Television. The pilot is written by David Goyer (Man of Steel) with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon A Time, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). Goyer also acts as executive produce through his company Phantom Four with Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow), who serves as showrunner. Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) directed the pilot.
The cast includes: Cameron Cuffe (The Halcyon) as Seg-El, Georgina Campbell (After Hours) as Lyta Zod, Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones) as Val-El, Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons) as Daron Vex, Ann Ogbomo (Wonder Woman) as Primus Alura Zod, Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) as Kem, Wallis Day (The Royals) as Nyssa Vex and Aaron Pierre (Britannia) as Dev-Em.
“Krypton” will premiere in 2018 on Syfy.
