Eddie's Answers

Kevin (BahamutKs890@aol.com) asks:
I have seen and read many different Superman information articles on the Internet and from different books and magazines. They all seem to fluctuate Superman's strength anywhere from 100 tons to 250,000. Is there any offical confirmation on how much Superman can lift, or atleast some kind of average?

Eddie: It's somewhere in there, it depends on how much solar energy he's absorbed or which creator is writing him. The latter being more true as we don't want to limit anyone with an exact measurement. We depend on you guys to keep us in a range.

Paul Anthony Llossas (Kal-El577@msn.com) asks:
There's a rumor going around that there's an editorial edict regarding the art in "Action Comics" in which Nelson is being told to re-draw John Byrne's faces (especially Superman's) so that they look less "Byrne-ish". Is this the case? The selling point of "Action Comics" for me was John Byrne's return to Superman, and his renderings thereof.

Eddie: Where would the internet be without rumors? No, one is telling Nelson to make anything look less "Byrne-ish".

Will Robbins (fastcat7@stowe.nu) asks:
Will we be seeing any influences from "Superman Returns" in the comics after the movie comes out - for example, will Superman's costume be changed to more closely resemble that in the film?

Eddie: The Batman movies did not affect the look of that character, I don't think this movie will have any change on Superman either, but ask the new editor in a couple of months.

Dean Kaplan (Deanof316@aol.com) asks:
Hey Eddie! Thanks for reaching out to us fans as you have consistenly done over the years. It kind of fills the 'void' that the old letter pages in the comics used to fill. Although now our breadth of discussion is unlimited. Very cool! Anyway, my question is this: Do you think it is possible that soon or sometime in the future, that the "TIME AND TIME AGAIN" saga will be re-released as a collection. I really would love to have the whole story. Thanks again Ed Ed!

Eddie: Is it not available anymore? I love it too. I'll check. [It is available from Amazon.com]

TNV_Superman (ninentendo1@hotmail.com) asks:
Ok, I got lost in the series for a second, but after the ending of Azzarello's "Superman" run did the other two Superman books jump ahead and continue right after that series ended? Or did they catch up through their 12 issues? How did it work?

Eddie: You got it. They caught up through the 12 issues.

Chris Clow (demolitionist@gmail.com) asks:
Hey Eddie, thanks for looking this over. Batman has often been regarded as many things to Superman fans. He is usually second string to Superman in stories, but why does DC insist on making Batman in some cases smarter, and always able to defeat Superman if the case calls for it? Doesn't it seem unreasonable that a mere mortal manages to stay ahead of the Man of Steel in so many stories?

Eddie: Batman only has his brains to depend on, so we gotta cut the guy some slack. But if you notice in the most recent stories we've shown what Superman can do to Batman. Heh.

Luke (lukeh86@hotmail.com) asks:
I've been noticing in a lot of drawers' depictions of Superman, when he's angry he begins to smoke red out of his eyes or his eyes will glow red. Is this a standard feature of Superman? It also seems like Superman is becoming more human in that he is adopting the less attractive emotions of a human, like anger and things like that. He doesn't seem to be the placid "I only do good deeds" Superman. Is that what's happening?

Eddie: Thanks to Ma and Pa, he's always been very human, and it's their teachings that keeps his anger at bay. But sometimes... somethings just get to him, and his eyes flare. For instance, he hates rumors on the internet.

Manuel (manmendez@hotmail.com) asks:
Will Lois being a mother to another man's child in the new Superman movie carry over to the comics? This seems like one of the biggest liberties that the creative team behind the movie has taken with a very important character.

Eddie: Great question, and why don't we all see the movie first.

Richard (address withheld by request) asks:
In your opinion, is Superman no more or less susceptible to magic than anyone else, or no more or less suceptible to anyone who has a comparable level of strength, invulnerability and willpower?

Eddie: He falls prey to it the same way you or I would. It's a good thing there's no real imps out there to deal with then isn't it?

Thanks again Eddie!

Eddie: My pleasure!
