Eddie's Answers

Ricko Borja (choujin247@hotmail.com) asks:
I remember during the first 6 issues of "Superman/Batman" that a giant Kryptonite meteor is heading for earth and eventually destroyed by Captain Atom's sacrifice. Then during the "Supergirl from Krypton" storyline, in the scene where Batman is gathering the Kryptonite fragments, there are other color variations other than the usual green color. How did they change color if the original meteor was green krytonite?

Eddie: Passing through our atmosphere caused a chemical reaction to these particular pieces of Kryptonite. It kind of makes you wonder why this didn't happen before.

Romulo Manenti (rmgrechi@ig.com.br) asks:
What do you think of the new Superman costume for the "Superman Returns" movie?

Eddie: I like it, aside from some slight modifications, they've gone with THE suit. It's Superman! And once we see it in motion, I think it will be very cool.

Trey Tackett (mlepew@hotmail.com) asks:
With Cartoon Network now airing a series based on Krypto the Superdog, is there any chance we'll be seeing more of the Dog of Steel in the comics?

Eddie: Hey, I'm a big fan, and always pushing for him to show up. Look for two brief appearances, one in TEEN TITANS #26 this July spotlighting Superboy and in SUPERMAN #220 in August. Is this what they mean by "dog days" of summer?

Stephen (SupersonicVan@aol.com) asks:
I've just recently dug out the two Superman/Spider-Man team-ups, published by DC and Marvel. The stories stand up, even today. Is there ever a chance we could see a third Superman/Spider-Man Team-Up?

Eddie: None are planned at this time, but those were pretty cool stories.

Dave (yevonsin1@yahoo.com) asks:
Can superman be strangled, drowned or suffocated in any way?

Eddie: If someone has the power level of Doomsday, it's possible, but it would take a prolonged battle where he can't catch his breath literally.

Michael Bayliff (kcbayliff@yahoo.com) asks:
I have noticed lately that when Superman is wounded with a Kryptonite sword, bullets, etc that it only harms him if the "projectile" stays in him. Once the object is removed his body heals quickly (seconds or minutes later, the wound is completely gone). Is this a new superpower?

Eddie: No, just part of his invulnerability that allows him to heal very quickly.

Matt (joekerr@hotmail.com) asks:
Superman has super-hearing, various types of Super-vision and Super breath. But are his other senses also... Super. Does he have some sort of super smell? Is his skin and sense of touch also superior? I mean he gets shot, crushed, smashed and electrified by super villains almost daily, but rarely looks in pain. Does that mean that he somehow feels less? That he doesn't feel simple things like a person's delicate touch? Or the texture on a delicate object?

Eddie: This is a debate we've had among ourselves. If he does have super-touch, it would also mean he has a super-tolerance to pain. I'd like to think that the same way we can prepare ourselves when we are going to handle something hot, Superman does the same when he's facing a threat.

R.J. (RJKAMA@hotmail.com) asks:
Eddie, will there be any attempt to tie-up some of the loose ends from 'For Tomorrow'? The conclusion was kind of unsatisfying... what was the deal with those living elements? Why was the JLA upset with Superman? Why did Zod have superpowers? Why did Superman have superpowers in the phantom zone? How long was Lois missing?

Eddie: The characters have always had some sort of powers in the Phantom Zone, sometimes it depends on the length of time they are there that it affects there abilities. The area created in the vanishing was a paradise that did allow Kryptonians to maintain/nourish their powers. The JLA was upset at Superman for interfering with foreign policies. Read the series again as a whole, many of the answers are there, and it does play much better now that it's collected than it did as a monthly comic.

Martin Alejandro Salinas (mas_el@hotmail.com) asks:
Jeph Loeb is without a doubt DC's best selling writer right now, so why isn't he taking part in "Infinite Crisis" or the spin offs coming out of it?

Eddie: Jeph is busy with his own books, SUPERMAN/BATMAN and the launch of the upcoming SUPERGIRL, plus some other upcoming projects, to really get in to the daily goings on of INFINITE CRISIS, but that doesn't mean Geoff Johns and I don't ask his opinion if something is cool or not.

B.J. (beej1300@hotmail.com) asks:
In "Action Comics #823" Superboy uses his telekinesis to lift the yellow Kryptonite. I thought he had to touch things to manipulate them. Since when did he have telekinesis and not tactile telekinesis?

Eddie: Sorry, if it's not clear, but look at the page again. He touches the ground first to lift it into the air and then just keeps it aloft long enough to drop it in the hole.

Katana Octopus (666masterofpuppets@gmail.com) asks:
You said in an earlier forum that we would have to wait and see what happens if Superman stayed longer in the sun. Are we gonna see this any time soon?

Eddie: If by that you mean being exposed to the sun rather than going into it, that will have to be how much time we will actually allow in the DCU to pass. We've seen what happens when he takes prolonged dives into the Sun, he becomes a blazing Super-Superman as he did during the OUR WORLDS AT WAR crossover.

Katana Octopus (666masterofpuppets@gmail.com) asks:
Why, in the name of Rao, is Supergirl seemingly more powerful than Superman???? Will this be explained any time soon? Because, honestly, that doesn't make any sense. To me at least.

Eddie: Read SUPERGIRL starting in AUGUST.

Filipe (connacht@clix.pt) asks:
I appreciate you taking the time to answer direct queries. On to the question: Will we be seeing more of Lyla (from the Godfall arc) in the future? A "wait and see" answer will do just fine; just checking if she has fallen into Limbo...

Eddie: I'd hope to have had her come back with Preus, but it got very crowded with Doomsday and Gog busting through in ACTION. So for now, just a "wait and see", OK?

Thanks for answering our questions Eddie!

Eddie: Thank you guys for asking.
