Sitting down for a chat with eTalk.ca, actor Cameron Cuffe spoke about being cast to play the role of Seg-El on the TV series “Krypton”.
“Seg-El grew up in quite a prominent family, one of the great houses of Krypton, which very early on in the story is thrown away. We cast him down to the lowest cast in society. So we have this once-mighty legacy which has sort of been thrown into the mud and he is trying to survive and trying to regain that honor that has been taken from him.”
“I think we have built this world, which is so exciting on so many levels, there is loads of action and there is a lot of political drama as well as personal drama, so there is a lot going on, on the show.”
From Warner Horizon Television and DC Comics, “Krypton” takes place years before the Superman legend we know, when the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This drama follows the Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.
“Krypton” will premiere in 2018 on Syfy.
Wow, they are still doing this? For those who are looking forward to this, that’s great.
But for me, I’m not really interested in watching Superman’s grandfather fighting social injustice.
I tell you, if they would have made this about a young Jor-El, people would be way more excited.
It’s a soap.
You’ve used that word before. I do not think it means what you think it means.
As someone who loves them, I know exactly what the word means.
While it’s good to know you are eagerly anticipating this series I personally can’t see how it qualifies for the definition of a soap.
Perhaps you would care to enlighten me as to the criteria you are using to apply that definition.
It may also be useful for you to provide me with examples that don’t fit your definition so I can better understand the parameters you are applying in order to see where you are coming from.
I’m not eagerly awaiting it, as I prefer my soaps straight and not disguised as otherwise.
I’m not using any special criteria to apply the term “soap” to a show that is a “soap”. It’s a soap. It’s an obvious soap. You seem to have a clear definition of a soap or you would not disagree with me, so I doubt me providing examples will change that.
Besides, who doesn’t love a good soap? I prefer Superman, but I’m sure this will find an audience if Gotham is any indication.
Actually I watch a fair bit of TV and a fairly eclectic mix if I do say so myself. I mostly favour fantasy and science-fiction but I also watch a fair few British shows that range from period dramas to police procedurals. I don’t actually have a strict personal definition of a soap. All I have to go on is shows that self-define as soaps such as Days of Our Lives, Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and The Restless all of which I have only watched a handful of episodes of. As well as the Australian soaps Home &… Read more »
That’s pretty much it.
