I saw a cover that Clay Mann did for the upcoming issue, featuring The Eradicator, Cyborg Superman (Henshaw), Metallo, and Mongul… Looked absolutely phenomenal! I love that he is bringing back the Henshaw version of Cyborg back! Also that the Eradicator will be an adversary now rather than an ally!

just hope we get to see Kon-El make a comeback at some stage!

John has the Superboy name now so I think bringing back Kon would only result in them having to give him some weird off-brand sort of name like Kyle being Ion or Tim being Red Robin. I mean what’s he going to be? Clone Teen? Tactile Telekinesis Lad? Other Boy? In that instance he would just feel tacked-on. He’d only be there because nobody wants to let him go off into the sunset (forever or awhile) or kill him off (not to say I’m not grateful for DC finally starting to move away from kill offs being their default solution… Read more »

Since we’re on the subject of Superboy was Clark ever Superboy now as of Reborn? It looks like the Secret Origin reboot is intact, but we will see. My dilemma has always been that I really prefer Superman not having been Superboy because I just think it works better for his own story . . . Why? Most lads I ask tend to rather Clark have never been Superboy. because that’s when they started reading, as opposed to being better for the character. I’ve yet to hear a solid reason. No pressure! 😉 I can’t really deny the negative effect… Read more »

@liheibao. No pressure taken. At the end of the day all I can do is try to express my opinion and why it is that I have it. I honestly just like it more when Clark getting the name and the costume is something that in a sense caps off his own journey to becoming an adult. His step into a larger world. I think it’s even one of things that as a little kid I liked the movie just slightly more than the comics. Because I think even then there was just something intriguing to me that he had… Read more »

It’s not about a solution, per se. Again, while lads will say they prefer one scenario over the other, they describe, albeit unknowingly, exactly what was demonstrated with Clark as Superboy. It’s all the same beats, and it just seems to boil down to where in the dance you entered. I don’t think I agree with you on the idea that it lessens the mythos or robs Superman of story ideas but the Legion without a Superboy does present a problem because no matter how cool you’re able to make the Legion on its own it always feels like there’s… Read more »

Hmm. Does that necessarily require Superman having been in full costume as a kid to convey the idea that you don’t have to wait until adulthood to help people? By that point in the future they would likely have a solid biography of Superman and could conceivably be just as inspired by the fact that he did start helping people when he was younger even though he wasn’t doing it with a cape on yet or to the scale and scope he would go onto to. Heck in the 30th Century they could have Martha Kents scrapbook of Clark’s secret… Read more »

Well, I’d have to say if it the outfit isn’t necessary to be who they are then why would it be strictly necessary for Clark to have the costume and a Super moniker when he’s a kid as opposed to the suit and name being something that is created when he’s an adult? Anyways, I’ve done the best I can to articulate it and it’s not like I went into it thinking anything I said was going to change your mind. But like I said I don’t think the presence of Superboy in the backstory is invalid or think anybody… Read more »

This is a bit of rounabout. It’s not needed for boy or man, as I already said. If he can run around in denim and t-shirt as a lad, he doesn’t need an outfit as an adult. Anyways, I’ve done the best I can to articulate it… Read more »

I think they should bring back Kon. They could call him “Scion.”
