If I live an infinitely long life, I will never understand the fascination out there with putting Superman, the solar-powered god-like beacon of hope and living embodiment of Truth, Justice, and the American Way, in an all black costume. I can think of a dozen characters it works for, and Superman is nowhere on the list.
Well, in the comics, it served a purpose. The black costume was to help him absorb solar energy when he returned from the dead nearly powerless after using all of his energy reserves fighting Doomsday

In reality, the reason his suit helps him absorb sunlight was because they wanted a reasonable sounding excuse to draw him wearing a black suit.
Totally agree. Not saying it isn’t quality built but why would displaying this compliment the character?
er, wait a minute, isn’t this technically The Snyder Cut?
Or maybe the dream sequence in “MAN of STEEL”?
Oh gee, a three-tousand dollar statue of Superman in a costume I don’t even like. How in the world can I refuse?
