Brian Michael Bendis Previews Artwork From “Man of Steel” Miniseries

Taking over DC’s Instragram account while at the SXSW convention, writer Brian Michael Bendis shared images of artwork from pages of his upcoming “Man of Steel” miniseries.

This is a finished page from “Man of Steel #1” by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado.

Below is an unfinished page from “Man of Steel #4” by Kevin Maguire.

On May 30, Bendis debuts “Man of Steel”, a six-issue weekly miniseries. Featuring six interconnected covers by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado, this series will shake up the classic story of Krypton’s final days and Kal-El’s path to becoming an iconic hero, introducing a new villain that knows a terrifying secret behind the destruction of Superman’s homeworld. Bendis’ story will feature an incredible lineup of artistic firepower, including Ivan Reis, Evan “Doc” Shaner, Ryan Sook, Kevin Maguire, Adam Hughes and Jason Fabok. A prelude to “Man of Steel” by Bendis and artist Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez will be available on May 2, in the DC NATION #0 preview sampler.

So is the deal going to be that this new villain is the one responsible for blowing up Krypton rather than it being a natural disaster or the geology being affected by something Kryptonians did years and years prior?

Also, while I agree that is quite the assembly of artists I’d kinda prefer a consistent look for the entire series rather than having the artstyle change every issue. That said, the Ivan Reis page looks great and I adore the idea of getting new Superman stuff from Garcia- Lopez.
