Season 5, Episode 1: Arrival

September 19, 2005: Smallville - Season 5, Episode 1 - “Arrival”

The WB has made available the following description for the 1st episode of Season 5 of "Smallville". Titled "Arrival", this episode is due to air in the U.S. on Thursday September 29th at 8pm. Here's the official description from the WB...

Having been transported to the Fortress of Solitude, Clark (Tom Welling) is confronted by Jor-El, who tells him he cannot return to Smallville, instead he must stay and prepare to save the planet. Also, transported to the Fortress, Chloe (Allison Mack) is unable to handle the sub-zero temperature and collapses, begging Clark to use his powers to save her. Jor-El forbids him to leave, but finally acquiesces, telling Clark he must return before sunset or there will be dire consequences. Meanwhile, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) is horrified when she sees two Kryptonian aliens emerge from a spaceship discovered in the remnants of the meteor shower. The two aliens destroy what's left of the town searching for Kal-El.

Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer wrote the episode, which was directed by James Marshall.

The WB have also made available an online video trailer and 9 preview photos for this episode.

Meanwhile, TV Guide Online has listed the following description for this same episode:

Clark saved Earth from annihilation in last May's finale, but there's still plenty of danger in store as Season 5 takes off. In a story line reminiscent of "Superman II", a pair of Kryptonian evildoers arrive looking for Clark. Making matters worse, the Teen of Steel's heroics are restricted by Jor-El, who says he must return to the Arctic - and the newly formed Fortress of Solitude - by day's end or "the consequences will be grave". If that weren't enough, Clark later faces a challenge even more daunting than superhuman foes, ending the episode on an intriguing note.
