Dr. Fate is studying alone while Inza his lady-servant is away. He's getting bored. Superman summons Dr Fate to handle an emergency in Atlantis. Also summoned is Booster Gold. The team arrive to find Aquaman injured and Fate uses his magic to heal him. Arthur awakens and explains that visiting a temple outpost he discovered it abandoned and was attacked by the Atlantean religious sculptures. He was lucky enough to escape and activate his JLU beacon.

They hear an SOS from Arthur's kingdom and decide to investigate.

When they arrive the team see the same statues from the temple have arrived and are smashing the kingdom apart.

After a drawn out fight scene Booster discovers the culprits... two bickering fools - Black Manta and Felix Faust.

That's right - the comedy element...

While the two bicker their power over the statues weakens enough for Dr Fate & Aquaman to slow them down.

As the two fight even more their spell deactivates and the statues return to normal. Booster takes this opportunity to knock them out.

Aquaman & Booster swim off to a feast in their honour.

Superman thanks Kent Nelson for his help saving Atlantis but Dr Fate realizes he had a nice afternoon out and that the JLU saved him from a boring day in his tower...

3Story - 3: All the elements of an awesome JLU adventure are there... A cool Superman, a bland Dr. Fate, a cheeky and fun Booster Gold, a grumpy Aquaman, an attack on Atlantis.

Suddenly two very competent villains, Felix Faust & Black Manta are thrown in...

Awesome right??

WRONG... somehow the story falls flat. I can't put my finger on it... turning villains into bumbling morons, jokes that miss the mark, 2D characterisations, disjointed and vague 'moral'... All of this kind of ruined it for me... personal opinion of course but the title has been growing better lately, don't let it regress to the mess that was the earlier issues - PLEASE!

5Art - 5: The art is looking great, character models are pretty much spot on! Not much to add except keep it coming!

5Cover Art - 5: A great cover with Black Manta looking at his most menacing and the JLU in peril, a great addition to a fantastic cover gallery.
