October 11, 2016: “Supergirl” Season 2 Premiere Soars High in Ratings

160829-Season2The second season premiere of “Supergirl”, and the show’s first on The CW, helped the network achieve impressive ratings numbers.

Monday’s Season 2 premiere drew 3 million viewers and a 1.1 18-49 demo rating, up triple digits compared to Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s performance in the Monday timeslot last fall. It also was The CW’s most-watched show in the Monday-at-8 pm perch in nearly eight years (since a 2008 Gossip Girl episode) and best 18-49 rating in six years (since a 2010 90210 episode).

That’s good for The CW, but I was expecting it to be somewhat higher due to ratings on CBS easily being about twice as much.

I just watched it on itunes. For me what was equally as fun as seeing them working together as superheroes was seeing them as family. As a kid I had all kinds of ideas in my head for Christopher Reeve’s Superman and Helen Slaters Supergirl interacting and in a lot of ways even though it’s not those same actors (nor am I making direct comparisons) it felt like seeing those ideas realized.

In a lot of ways this ep made me feel like a kid again. Can’t wait for more.
