Zack Snyder Commemorates 15 Years Since First Photographing Henry Cavill as Superman

Director Zack Snyder took to Instagram to mark a meaningful milestone in superhero cinema history. Fifteen years ago today, Snyder captured the first-ever photograph of Henry Cavill as Superman during a camera test for Man of Steel.

“15 years ago, on this day, I pressed the shutter and met Superman,” Snyder wrote, sharing the intimate behind-the-scenes moment. “The first photo I ever took of Henry Cavill – moments before he stepped into legend. Shot on my Nikon.”

The image shows Cavill wearing what appears to be Christopher Reeve’s iconic Superman costume during the early testing phase—a poignant bridge between two generations of the Man of Steel. The candid dressing room shot captures the moment before Cavill would go on to define the character for a new era.

Cavill portrayed the Last Son of Krypton in “Man of Steel (2013), “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016), “Justice League” (2017), and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” (2021), becoming one of the most recognizable actors to don the red cape.

The nostalgic post has resonated with DC fans, serving as a touching reminder of the enduring legacy of Superman and the connection between the actors who have brought him to life on screen.
