With all the talk about Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” coming to HBO Max in 2021, the director recently participated in an interview with Film Junkee Vodka Stream, where he addressed the idea of releasing a longer version of “Man of Steel”.
When asked about the idea of a Director’s Cut of the 2013 film, Snyder stated that the movie was pretty much “exactly what I wanted to do.”
“There was only a few scenes that we deleted… it wasn’t anything that I think would change the movie. That movie is pretty much, it is what it is, and I love it… It’s kind of exactly the size that it was, for me, that I wanted it to be.”
Premiering on June 27, 2013, “Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Antje Traue as Faora, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick and Christopher Meloni as Col. Hardy.
Well, he got to release his visions for Watchmen, BVS, and the forthcoming JL, so why not?
Me, personally, though, I love MOS just the way it is. So unless those deleted scenes leave out important story details, which they do not as stated by the man himself, I say let sleeping dogs lie…
