Will James Gunn’s Superman and Peacemaker Ever Meet in the DCU? Fans Like Me Are Hoping So

By Giancarlo Cento

With “Peacemaker” Season 2 on the way; and the hilarious, action-packed new trailer still fresh in everyone’s minds (watch it below if you haven’t seen it yet); it’s hard not to start imagining the bigger picture of James Gunn’s DCU. One question that keeps coming up for me (and tons of fans online): Will we ever see Peacemaker and Superman actually share the screen?

Peacemaker vs Superman

As someone who genuinely loves Superman’s classic Boy Scout morals; I’ve always been drawn to his unshakable goodness. He represents the best of what a hero or anyone for that matter could and should be. But I’ll admit, I’ve also fallen hard for the absolute chaos that is Christopher Smith. Peacemaker’s over-the-top violence, messed-up logic, and deeply buried heart makes him already one of the most unpredictable and entertaining characters in the entire DCU. The idea of those two meeting? I can’t stop thinking about how wild (and meaningful) it could be.

The best part? It could actually happen. Gunn has confirmed that “Peacemaker” Season 2 will take place after the events of “SUPERMAN”, meaning they officially exist in the same timeline now. And since Gunn is directly involved in both projects, the odds of a crossover aren’t just wishful thinking; they’re genuinely likely. The first season of “Peacemaker” even teased it, with that hilarious “Justice League” cameo where Superman showed up in silhouette. Now that we’re getting a full rebooted Superman, played by David Corenswet, it feels like the perfect time to bring these two head-to-head; or at least onto the same screen.

Imagine it: Superman, all heart and restraint, trying to reason with a man who believes in peace so much he’s willing to kill for it. The ideological clash is almost too good to pass up. And knowing Gunn’s talent for pairing opposites and finding the emotional core underneath, I think a scene; or even a whole arc with these two could be a defining moment for both characters. Superman could challenge Peacemaker’s destructive worldview, and maybe Peacemaker could force Superman to grapple with the messy realities of trying to do good in an imperfect world.

Beyond just being a fun idea, a crossover like this would say something about what this new DCU really is. Gunn’s vision clearly has room for sincerity and absurdity, heart and mayhem. Bringing Superman and Peacemaker together wouldn’t just be a fan-service moment; it would be a signal that this universe is going to explore all sides of its characters, from the golden idealists to the lovable trainwrecks.

So no, there’s no official announcement yet. But as a fan of both Superman’s pure-hearted truth and Peacemaker’s chaotic charm, I’m holding out hope. And in James Gunn’s DCU, that hope might just turn into something real.

“Peacemaker” season 2 will premiere on Max on August 21.
