In an interview with Fandango, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spoke about the upcoming “Black Adam” movie, and was asked whether we’ll see a fight between Superman and Black Adam…
“One fine day… that’s coming,” Johnson said with a smirk. “That’s in the cards.”
“It’s definitely going to happen, sure,” he said when asked for a status on his Black Adam movie. “We’ve had great conversations with Geoff Johns and everyone over at DC. It’s an exciting time right now for everyone at DC because they are in a process now where they are building out [their DC universe] really nicely. We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced.”
I don’t want this for many reasons. I think most Superman fans want Braniac or Metallo. I can’t stand these execs in charge man. I love the Rock, but black Adam is a Shazam villain and the rock tends to overshadow everyone else in his films and I don’t want another Superman movie where superman gets downsized to a supporting character. I’d love to see a great Shazam film with Rock as the antagonist or his stand alone film, but do people really want Black Adam more than Brainiac?? I’m selling this. P.S. It was such a weird move to… Read more »
Well as long as it’s not the movie.
If Black Adam vs Superman isn’t the plot of a movie and it’s just something that happens in JL2, persay, I’d be fine with it.
Or he’s in Shazam helping, like the animated movie.
But MoS 2 with Adam as the villain, I’m with you on that. That’s a horrible idea.
Cart before the horse.
I wouldn’t hate it if Clark showed up in the SHAZAM movie, like in that animated short a few years back. It could help with the inter-connectivity of the DCEU. Guy with Black Adam’s power level shows up and starts wrecking stuff, of course Superman’s gonna step in.
All that said, I would rather see Superman and Black Adam throw down in the second JLA movie, “JLA vs the Legion of Doom.”
Is it just me or does it seem like The Rock has been wanting to fight Superman for quite some time now, either way careful what you wish for Adam
This is stupid. Lets hope it’s just rumors
If it ensures that we’ll get a Man Of Steel 2, then I’m all for it. I like the Rock. Maybe it will be a Brainiac and Black Adam Combo against our Superman. And if Matthew Vaughn comes on as director I think that’s great too. Maybe they’ll make some kind of announcement at Comic Con!!! I just want them to make another Superman Movie, and I want it to be good.
It think this is a great idea. Think about it. There’s only so much you can do with Kryptonite to weaken Superman.. Oh no a Kryptonite ray!!! Oh no a kryptonite chain necklace!!! Oh no Kryptonite dust!!!! Oh no a Kryptonite lance or bullet!!!! See what I mean? If you keep using Kryptonite for everything then the it will just be silly, now if you mix and match his weaknesses in this case magic, you make for an interesting movie and reason for his weakness. Besides in the DCEU Kryptonite is in short supply as it came from the terraforming… Read more »
I hope it happens.
This is probably nothing but hype. They’ve long finished JL and we’ve heard nothing regarding JL2. In fact we really haven’t heard anything concrete regarding MOS2. WW hasn’t opened as of yet and there’s already talk of WW2. It’s looking like were in for a possible long pause before we get anything more Superman. They way things are shaping up it could be 5 years before any thing Superman comes our way. By that time will Henry be out of context to even continue playing Superman? I think Henry’s 34 now and the more time that goes by the more… Read more »
If Hugh Jackman can play Wolverine, and get better every time, until he’s 48, then there is no reason Henry Cavill couldn’t play Superman for another 10-15 years.
Can’t stand The Rock. When it comes to acting, he is Hulk Hogan 2.0 as far as I’m concerned. His movies are all garbage, and he’s a one trick pony. His ego, and personality are too big to ever be anything more then an ex wrestler just pretending to act.
Not to mention, the Superman in this universe really doesn’t need to share any more screen time with other heroes or antiheroes. He needs solo movies that focus on his stories, his villains, and his supporting cast. Black Adam is none of those things, and needs to stay away.
They’re probably talking about another JL or the solo Black Adam movie. If he’s true to character and knowing that Superman not only returns, but he’s part of the Justice League, a will-be dictator of a small nation with the powers of Black Adam would probably draw their attention. I’m not huge on mixing characters in every single movie, but Marvel does it and people have taken to it; I expect DC to follow suit.

for all the hate Superman 3 gets, one of the things I really liked about it was the evil superman fighting Clark. It was Done so well by Chris Reeve in that film that I never want to see it again. I think making superman evil is such a cop out and shines such a light on the lazy writing we continually see with Superman. I always get the impression that everyone else BUT Superman fans want to see evil superman.
Exactly. At this point I’m actually more interested in seeing a nice, happy, proud, helpful Superman who ACTUALLY inspires hope. 2 films in and we’re still waiting on that.
Would be interesting. But let’s not forget that he has some villains that he really needs to scrap with in live-action. Doomsday and Zod are out (unless Doomsday comes back like he does in the comics), so maybe Massacre, Mongul, Imperiex, Henshaw, or DEFINITELY Darkseid.
I find it disappointing that DCs priority is more concerned with Black Adam than Captain Marvel.
I love Billy as well; but the Rock is bankable and he is a great fit for Black Adam. On the bright side, because of Black Adam, Captain Marvel is (probably) going to get Hollywood exposure, which is pretty huge for a character that has had very little exposure outside of comic books for a very long time. I view it kind of like how because of Supergirl, general audiences are now exposed to J’onn, who certainly deserves some love.
