Why Don’t You Read Comic Books? – Poll Results

In the latest Superman Homepage Member Poll we asked you the following question:

Why don’t you read comic books?

I’m happy to see that 66% of you do read comic books. Interestingly, people who don’t read them state that they aren’t currently reading the comics because they don’t like how the characters are being handled. I’d be interested to find out from people how they think the characters are being mishandled.

I’m keeping Bendis’ work at arm’s length, and am waiting for Doomsday Clock’s collected issues so I can read straight through, but I think Rebirth was excellent and a true return to form from the awful New52.
But I love picking up back issues from the Bronze Age, and they’re still mostly affordable. Think I’ll be hitting the old long boxes tonight…

I’m in the camp of not liking how characters are being mishandled. ..and yeah it sucks because my love of heroes both Marvel and DC has never really wavered but a very long time ago I passed the point where I can personally justify the expense of a monthly pull at the LCS just for the sake of “keeping up.” I want the characters handled in a way that I enjoy, with stories I enjoy, with art that I enjoy. I agree completely with every single word you wrote. From New52 to Rebirth and Reborn. Man, I’m a complete atheist but reading and watching Dan Jurgens makes me thank god for being able to live during his runs on Superman. I loved the game since its begining (15 years ago) but its current expansion is so bad that not even the marvelous art… Read more »
