Watch “The Death of Superman” Animated Movie Trailer

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released the official trailer for “The Death of Superman” animated movie, which is scheduled to be released August 7.

With the 2-part animated movie “The Death of Superman”, Warner Bros. Animation has promised a more faithful adaptation of the epic comic book story than what was seen in 2007’s “Superman: Doomsday”. And they’re bringing back some familiar voices to take on this massive story.

Jerry O’Connell will return to voice Superman, after having done so in three previous films: “Justice League: Throne of Atlantis,” “Justice League vs. Teen Titans,” and “Justice League Dark”. He will be joined by his wife Rebecca Romijn, who will voice the role of Lois Lane.

Rainn Wilson will take on the role of Lex Luthor, while other voice cast members from previous animated Justice League movies will also return, including Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman; Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern; Christopher Gorham as The Flash; Matt Lanter as Aquaman; Shemar Moore as Cyborg; and Jason O’Mara as Batman.

Rocky Carroll will voice Silas Stone (Cyborg’s father) and Patrick Fabian takes on the role of Hank Henshaw (aka Cyborg Superman).

“The Death of Superman” animated movie is due to be released on August 7, 2018 on Blu-ray, DVD, and for digital download, while the second part “Reign of the Supermen” is set to drop in early 2019.

In my opinion, this looks like it might have more of a fight sequence between Superman and Doomsday than in the previous film.

Of course I’ll end up buying it… but right now… I’m not feeling it… I’d say that was a weak trailer. and the ‘New 52′ animation style is ruining a lot of it for me… the impact of the death of Superman, was the fact that an Icon could die… the ’52’ style Superman doesn’t carry that Iconic status, or look, or history…. none of the weight seems there… if they could do ‘Killing joke’ in an Animation style meant to mimic Briand Bolland’s artwork, why not a Jurgensesque Superman for this?… (bearing in mind the only thing admirable about… Read more »

I wonder if it was a coin toss concerning the opposites. What I mean by that is, yes Killing Joke stands alone, but DOS is a different animal because of Superman Doomsday. And I guess by comparison, SD was a stand alone non-canon film, so the opposite of that would be to make it canon with their already 52 inspired DCUA line. And like I said in a previous post, I know people have wished the classic JLA members were around during the DOS comic arc, so the change here is something people want and is very welcomed. Maybe that’s… Read more »

Only on a side note. I found the Killing Joke to be nothing short of sickening.

What worries me is that for the sequel, we may never get The Eradicator or Henshaw Cyborg Superman. Because these elements were never established in the previous JL movies. I mean Batman has gotten 46 movies in between to hash out his world in this continuity, but sadly, if we follow these movies from JL: War, we know that Superman is sort of dating Wonder Woman, and the Kent’s are dead… Which stinks as Ma and Pa were important to the original story as a whole (death, funeral, reign and return).

I’m actually looking forward to see this. Looks better than Superman: Doomsday.
I wonder though…Will They adapt the Hunter/Prey storyline as well after the 2 parter?

That’s a good question. What if they decide to blend both the reign of the Supermen and hunter prey? It’s just an idea. It might make the film a bit long though if they did that. I would like to see the hunter prey story arc myself as well.

They could actually adapt it in a 2 minute sequence really. And if they do that, then I hope that they can also somehow introduce the Eradicator and Hank Henshaw… Even Cadmus…

Lets also not forget John Henry Irons either.

I would be way more excited for this if it was actually look act how it was in the comics instead still holding on to this N52 BS. I don’t understand DC they’ve done it with all the Batman stories like Years 1 and The Dark Knight returns I don’t get it. But I’m going to get anyway because there’s have been a Superman Animated movie in years and if we don’t support it we will have to wait another couple years for another one or they make another one at all because at the end of the day it’s… Read more »

I’m glad we’re finally getting another Superman animated film. Although I’d prefer the original art style, I think it’s going to be interesting to see how they make the 2nd part with Superboy, Steel, Eradicator, and Cyborg Superman. It will be interesting to see this New 52-take on those guys in the 2nd film.

So sick of this story. There’s so much more to choose from, but what do we get? Superman dying. Again. Yawn.

I’m totally with you on that. I for one am sick of death of Superman. Seen it enough and don’t want to see it again. Superman/Doomsday was good enough. But BvS was the last time I EVER want to see any more of this played to death(pun), death of Superman. I usually like these animated movies but I will not be watching this.

If the Cyborg Superman is in the sequel, will he constantly say ” I’m the Cyborg Superman” ? Lol, just kidding. A little humor referencing the Cyborg Superman from Supergirl season two . I hope that they stay true to his character If he is in the sequel.
