Watch a New Clip from “The Death of Superman” Animated Movie

DC Entertainment has released a new clip from “The Death of Superman” animated movie.

In a new DC Nation video, after Dan Didio shows us some of the items on his desk regarding upcoming stories (including what Brian Michael Bendis is doing on Superman), Tiffany Smith introduces a new clip from the animated film (13 minutes into the video below), along with a chat with Executive Producer James Tucker…

With the 2-part animated movie “The Death of Superman”, Warner Bros. Animation has promised a more faithful adaptation of the epic comic book story than what was seen in 2007’s “Superman: Doomsday”. And they’re bringing back some familiar voices to take on this massive story.

Jerry O’Connell will return to voice Superman, after having done so in three previous films: “Justice League: Throne of Atlantis,” “Justice League vs. Teen Titans,” and “Justice League Dark”. He will be joined by his wife Rebecca Romijn, who will voice the role of Lois Lane.

Rainn Wilson will take on the role of Lex Luthor, while other voice cast members from previous animated Justice League movies will also return, including Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman; Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern; Christopher Gorham as The Flash; Matt Lanter as Aquaman; Shemar Moore as Cyborg; and Jason O’Mara as Batman.

Rocky Carroll will voice Silas Stone (Cyborg’s father) and Patrick Fabian takes on the role of Hank Henshaw (aka Cyborg Superman).

“The Death of Superman” animated movie is due to be released on August 7, 2018 on Blu-ray, DVD, and for digital download, while the second part “Reign of the Supermen” is set to drop in early 2019.

I can’t to see this version of “The Death of Superman” as well as the 2nd part, “Reign Of The Superman.” It will be interesting to see the full complete story.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought this was already released digitally? I’ve seen people raving about it online. I’m waiting for my Bluray to arrive, so I’d been trying to avoid spoilers.

Is it just me, or does Superman kinda look like the Christopher Reeve Superman in the flight with Lois scene?

Maybe Europe is it getting it 1st because someone I know said she got it as a gift, and she’s German, so the US version must be coming out 2nd. Though, I think I’ll see if I can get it as gift, but I don’t think I’m going to buy it. Either Tucker doesn’t understand what faithful means, or didn’t want it to be, because this anything but, and it’s turned me off a little, about getting it. This is totally the New 52 version of the Death of Superman, compared to movies like the ” New Frontier” or even… Read more »

Sorry if I went on too much but was really looking forward to seeing an actual adaption of the Death of Superman comic in animated form at least, & after how they said they were going to be faithful comic book, like they did with New Frontier, and Public Enemies and from what I saw even Batman The Dark Knight Retunes though never read that, but did see the art and or some of it, and saw part 1 of the animated movie on TV, and the art and look from the comic to movie, almost matched perfectly, so after… Read more »

Wonder which version of Cyborg Superman they will use, or even Superboy and Steel if they use them at all. Or even the Eradicator Didn’t like New 52 makeover of Cyborg Superman, sounds like he will still be Hank Henshaw at least and not Supergirl’s father.
