According to Deadline.com, Warner Bros. is developing a Supergirl movie, with Oren Uziel on board to pen the script.
Uziel’s script work includes an untitled collaboration with John Krasinski and Pearl Street partners Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, as well as a Mortal Kombat, 22 Jump Street, The Cloverfield Paradox, and the in production Sonic The Hedgehog.
No director has been attached to the project at this point in time, but it’s an interesting move by the studio considering all the talk has been about getting another Superman film going.
I wonder when this movie will be in theaters and who they will cast as the girl of steel.
Since now that there will be a Supergirl movie,I would like to see Hoechlin return as Superman for the CW shows. Maybe they can rotate him around Supergirl,Flash,Arrow,Legends of tomorrow, and Black lightning? I know that they don’t have any plans for a Superman show for now, but I think having him show up for a few episodes and rotate him around these superhero shows would be a reasonable compromise. Since there will be two versions of supergirl, one on the big screen and one on the small, I can’t see why superman can’t be on both either.
In fact since Superman turned 80 this year, there hasn’t been one word of him appearing in both movie and television. Nor has there been an news of any decent video games for Superman. It’s a real shame.
Actually 3 Supergirls if you count the Russian one next season, and who is in the armored suit with visor covering her face, is that a 4th Supergirl or Superegirl in an armor suit that looks similar to the Lex Superman armored suit in the comics this year.
It’s interesting that you mention the super lex armor Jpx98. I actually said the same thing in an earlier post for the supergirl season 4 trailer.
So, first there are two Flash actors for both movie and tv; now Supergirl’s next. I agree with posters above, Hoechlin needs to return! By the way this Supergirl movie better be in the same universe as Man of Steel, BvS, WW, etc. Also It would be cool if Cavill makes an appearance in this Supergirl movie.
Thank for agreeing with my posts approuty. I just wish that WB, and the CW would show more love for Superman. Especially on his 80th year.
You and me both, for Superman turning 80 WB or CW & DC really didn’t do anything, even animated mini on the CW animated website for it’s show would have been nice, but all we got were different Action Comics covers, which to say, that they weren’t nice, they were nice, but still in some shape or form, it would have been nice to see Superman on TV or online in mini series or something for summer, either in live action or animated would have been nice too,but instead of just repeats of CW shows. And I don’t count The New 52… Read more »
Us Superman fans have been saying that there needs to be more superman in movies and tv, yet I can’t help but feel that our voices are being ignored.
This is ridiculous. I can not believe we’re getting this rather than a Man of Steel 2. Unbelievable. I don’t have a problem with supergirl nor do I feel like she doesn’t deserve a movie, but they need to get Superman’s house in order first. We already have a supergirl on television where Superman gets the shaft. Now it’s happening cinematically too. What is it with WB and having absolutely no faith in superman? They continually blame the character when it’s the writing and direction that is too blame. Supergirl should be way down the line. This doesn’t excite me… Read more »

Ha
Supergirl should be way down the line. But, Supergirl is way down the line. The movies have been: 1 ) Man of Steel 2 ) Batman v Superman 3 ) Suicide Squad 4 ) Wonder Woman 5 ) Justice League 6 ) Aquaman 7 ) Shazam 8 ) Wonder Woman 2 There is supposed to be a Batman movie, maybe a Black Adam movie, Suicide Squad 2, a Flash movie, a Green Lantern movie, … maybe some other movie(s) I am forgetting, and, now a Supergirl movie. I don’t see the problem. Supergirl is way down the line. Your criteria… Read more »
I have nothing against a Supergirl movie coming out. That’s not my issue and perhaps I should clarify that, it’s that they are giving almost every other character a proper sequel and not Superman. It was like when they announced a Nightwing movie was going into production. I love Nightwing and Supergirl, but I’d like to see the worlds they come from more fleshed out and corrected before there is a spinoff. If this was announced in addition to mos2 I’d be fine with it. Heck, I would have been fine with – a Superman/Supergirl instead of Batman v Superman… Read more »
I believe I understand. Thanks for the clarification. 🙂
IMO they really have no business attempting Supergirl if they can’t get Superman right.
I understand this is your opinion, but I respectively disagree. If they can get character B right, but can’t get character A right, they should not attempt doing character B? That is what I am understanding from what you are saying. I have enjoyed Superman in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman and Justice League. That is my opinion. I’m fine with a Supergirl movie. 🙂 … but, after thinking about it some more, I may be consciously applying the same standard you are. I truly don’t know. What I mean is, that, I have enjoyed Superman in these movies.… Read more »
Hey SuperFunTime! I think you do have a point. After all there was no pre-established version of Superman to spin off of when they started the Supergirl tv series. (and once they did establish their Superman it was pretty good for the most part.) For me though given what I feel has been a more than dubious track record in their Superman attempts I don’t feel a whole lot of reason to trust the movie division with Supergirl. ..and I can’t help but feel like it’s a bit of a cop out. Like they’re viewing Superman as damaged goods so… Read more »
Well, from what I have understood, the people behind the scenes have been changed and there is new leadership. Maybe they can address the issues you and others have about Superman in his current state in the movies. 🙂
I love Supergirl and figured one day they would do a movie, but I am surprised to be hearing about this before a Superman movie sequel/continuation of his story in a Superman focused story.
Even if they were to bring back Lois & Clark, like they seem to be doing with all the 90’s show now with Murphy Brown being the next show coming back, at least we’d have Superman show that actually has Superman in the show. As much as I liked Lois & Clark I’d rather have new Superman show, but wouldn’t be against it if they did bring it back. One Superman Show would be better than no Superman show.
Exactly Jpx98! Superman needs some attention. This should be a big year for him. He’s 80 now, and there should be something for him in both movie and tv. I have nothing against there being a Supergirl movie. It’s just that this should be Superman’s year. He’s 80 now, and he needs to be celebrated in all media. Movies, Television, video games, comics, action figures, collectible stamps, collectibles, and Memorabilia.
Well, I don’t know if he should be celebrated in all media, but I would figure at least a new movie. On tv, I would love to see him back on Supergirl for 1 or 2 episodes.
I don’t see why he shouldn’t be celebrated. It’s his 80th year after all.
I agree Spidey. I feel like Superman has been given the shaft more than any other hero.
Yeah what you say is true sundevil82 , it’s also the fans being ignored as well. We ask for more Superman in both movie and tv, but they ignore our voices. It’s a real shame. Maybe there should be an opinion poll on how Superman fans feel about the lack of Superman in movies, television, and in all media. I bet most superman fans would agree that there isn’t enough of Superman.
One reason why WB may be rolling out SuperGirl is because in movies there have been very few leading female superheroes apart from Wonder Woman. WB is making a game attempt to capture an untapped market that Fox, Marvel and Sony have yet to fully appreciate and exploit. (Any success Jessica Jones has enjoyed has been modest.) A Batgirl and Birds of Prey movie is also in the works.
I had not thought of that. Interesting.
Well, I’m in for a Supergirl movie! 🙂
I think that would be awesome. It would be great to make Man of Steel 2 and have her appear in that movie after her solo film of course. I hope they do it.
Mortal Kombat, 22 Jump Street, The Cloverfield Paradox
Uh weren’t all those movies considered garbage? I’m all for giving things a chance, but that isn’t a good pedigree to lean on. This movie sounds DOA.
Sickening, that’s all I can come up with. They can’t give us a MoS sequel but they can water us down with a Supergirl movie? This is more than just a movie. This plays into another example of the entertainment industry bending over for more of this on going female exaggeration(s) in role parts designed for the sole purpose of kicking men’s backsides. And…that is all they do! As far as I’m concerned, I’ve about had it with the entertainment industry and it’s “all about females”.
I never thought I would see a Superman fan say having a Supergirl movie is sickening. I’m not offended, but I never considered it to be something that would happen. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve about had it with the entertainment industry and it’s “all about females”. I guess, maybe, we watch different shows and movies. I have never perceived the entertainment industry as “all about females.” To illustrate my point, I’m going to write down a fair amount of shows I watch and movies I have seen and look forward to seeing. I watch The Flash, where he… Read more »
Unpopular opinion and I’m just a casual Star Wars fan, but Rogue One (in my opinion) was the best of all four of the new movies and that had a very diverse cast. A little off topic but saw you mentioned the film. People bashnon last Jedi for a variety of reasons, but for me Rogue One is just a way better movie.
You know what, sundevil82, I agree. I, personally, really liked Star Wars The Force Awakens. I loved Rogue One. I kinda liked Star Wars The Last Jedi. And I like Solo. 🙂
I agree SuperFunTime. You’ve pretty much summed up exactly how I feel about the recent Star Wars movies.
The fact is, is that the entertainment industry over about the last 5 years or so, has been elevating females into roles that were once fairly dominated by men. BUT…as of recent they have been giving females way more authoritative roles. EVERY SINGLE TV show and in a vast majority of movies when there has been a confrontation between a man and a woman, the woman ends up kicking the crap out of the man. In the shows you mentioned that’s all women do. They carefully choreograph actions scenes where women throw around men like rag dolls, then go about… Read more »
The fact is, is that the entertainment industry over about the last 5 years or so, has been elevating females into roles that were once fairly dominated by men. BUT…as of recent they have been giving females way more authoritative roles. 1) I guess, the first thing that should be asked is, is it a problem for you that they have been elevating females into roles that were once fairly dominated by men? 2) When you use the word “fairly”, do you mean: fairly; as in justly or legitimately; … or do you mean: fairly; as in to quite a… Read more »
superfuntime…..Your breaking this down in a way that overlooks what the entertainment industry has been purposely doing. I can name one TV show after another that has the features I’ve pointed out with regards to the roles females have been playing. I don’t want you to think I’m against good action sequences but the entertainment industry has gone stupid with with female presence in ALL movies and TV shows. And the fact is, it’s obvious! They’ve been turning these 100 lb Hollywood waifs into killing and butt kicking machines in every single movie or TV show. Yes…Supergirl gets batted around… Read more »
I’d rather see another Superman movie where we can develop the character past his journey to become Superman (as depicted in MOS, BvS, and Justice League).
A part of me thinks this is just ‘negotiating’ tactic on behalf of Warner Bros. Supposedly, they were caught up negotiating over Henry’s salary. This is probably just their way of saying “take it or leave it”
