Warner Bros. Could Develop DC Films for HBO Max

With yesterday’s announcement of the launch of HBO Max in May 2020, Warner Bros. are likely to start developing big budget films for the digital streaming service.

HBO Max is set to include Warner Bros. vast library of films and TV shows, including those about DC Comics characters. HBO Max will have 1,800 movies at launch, which will include every Superman film ever made. The library of properties will also include New Line, CNN, TNT, TBS, and Cartoon Network.

According to a Variety article, HBO Max will cost US$14.99 per month. Out of the gate, existing subscribers of HBO Now (who have signed up directly) will get access to HBO Max for no additional charge.

While it’s unclear what this will mean for the DC Universe digital service, fans outside the USA can look forward to the international launch of HBO Max in 2021.

The report indicates that HBO Max could be the location for big budget DC films, with Greg Berlanti and J.J. Abrams just some of the creative names mentioned in connection with these potential productions.

If they do decide to make DC movies for HBO Max, then I hope that they would make a Superman series staring Brandon Routh.
Please DC and HBO, make it happen.

Bottom line, no one wants to give their money to what would potentially be seen as a “failing service” that is being discontinued. So WB isn’t going to say anything until after May 2020. The fact they are deliberately not saying anything means that WB is… Read more »
