Tyler Hoechlin to Wear Fleischer Inspired Superman Costume Again

Tyler

Leaked photos from the set of “Superman & Lois” reveal that the Golden Age Fleischer-inspired Superman costume seen in the opening sequence of the pilot episode of “Superman & Lois” is returning.

The Superman costume with red trunks and the S-shield with the black background was a hit with fans when it was revealed during a sequence in which Superman’s origins and early years were explored during the first episode of the new series.

Now, with these new set photos, it looks like we’ll see Tyler Hoechlin wearing it again, likely in more flashback sequences.

The next new episode of “Superman & Lois” is scheduled to air on The CW in the USA on Tuesday, May 18 at 9.00pm ET/PT.

I’m so loving that they are bringing back Fleischer Superman suit! 😀

I can’t wait to see this! I wonder who the guy in the helmet and trenchcoat Superman is talking to?

Keep up the great work with Superman and Lois CW!!! 😀

I love the suit. I love the show. I love Tyler Hoechlin as Clark and Superman. At worst, I have some tiny nitpicks about the show.
But can they please tone down the muscle pads?! I’m not even saying that they have to completely get rid of them (they’re a part of Cavill’s suit too), but when did we go full circle to George Reeves pads?!
Hoechlin is lean in build. His Clark is lean in build. But the cape goes on and he gains 25lbs?!?!

I do see your point afriend, and I agree that there looks to be some muscle padding for his Fleischer Superman suit. Although I do think there might be more padding to it compared to his current one that he wears every week. The one that he wears weekly, I think need a bigger S and lower neckline. I think that might help with the look of the chest and shoulders. I do believe he works out his arms. I had looked at a photo of how he looked back on supergirl and compared it to how he looks now… Read more »

I do wonder if we will see flashbacks of Superman in the Fleischer suit throughout the series. I hope so. That would be so cool. 😀

Some idiot had a huge grin on their face when they saw him in this suit in the first episode…

Hi… I’m idiot 🙂

If being a fan of this version of Superman is wrong, then I don’t wanna be right. 🙂

I’ll be the dissenting voice here (surprising, I know) and posit that this may be a bad idea? The suit was cute as a reference, there was a thematic relevance to it in the first episode, it was fine; but it also looks cheap (on purpose, I assume, to stress the scrappy beginnings of the character and the “Ma’s sewing machine” look) and I’m not sure you want the audience looking at it for too long, especially during a potentially “serious” scene.

I mean, look at the S. It looks like a cake.

I think it would depend on context,;if it’s another flashback and only takes a few minutes of screen time, it wouldn’t be an issue at all. For a full episode, it… Depends.
I like the “regular” suit okay (and it’s a big step up from his old suit on Supergirl and the crossovers), but I’d still like to see something more classic. RED TRUNKS FOREVER!!

I agree.I think it would be great for flashbacks. It would show growth in Clark’s experience in his time as Superman. Like he’s still a novice at being a superhero in the memory of when he wore the Fleischer suit. I’m so looking forward to seeing that suit again. I’m a huge fan of it. 🙂
And I totally agree with you about the classic look afriend.

#ResistTheTrunks!

Regardless, it’s not the style that makes me a little bit skeptical about this, it’s the overall simplicity which I find clashes with the tone of the show. Or what I’ve seen of it, anyway. I see it like having a post-Returns Superman and then bringing George Reeves or Dean Cain in with their original uniforms. It’s cool from a certain fanservice aspect, but it would also clash really badly.

It’s no biggie, I’m just worried they’ll end up breaking visual and tonal cohesion for a potentially needless throwback.

I know that there is the #RestoretheSnyderverse going around, but can someone please make a #RestoreTheRichardDonnerVerse hashtag? I really really really really want to see a HBOmax Superman series starring Brandon Routh as Superman and in the classic Richard Donner style.
