In the latest Superman Homepage Member Poll we asked you the following question:
How do you feel about Tyler Hoechlin “giving the finger” while wearing the Superman costume?
Most of you were unaware of this unfortunate event. You can see the photo and read about my thoughts on it in the recent edition of the “Big Blue Report” newsletter. Those who were aware of it were mostly disappointed at Tyler’s actions.

While I wish he was a little more careful and understanding of his place in Superman history right now, I don’t really have a problem with it. For all we know he never thought the photo would see the light of day. Good thing is that I had no idea this photo existed until this poll, so I am willing to bet that any kids that we would be worried about seeing it, probably didn’t. And anyone who has understands nothing was meant by it and it was done in fun with his friends. Besides….it was probably Batman taking the… Read more »
i had a feeling the dark knight was behind the smear campaign, because he’s batman! lol
probably 5 mins later they were chilling at the cafe drinking coffee discussing who will lead the justice league
He’s not the first to engage in a bit of SuperD**kery – and he won’t be the last. I can cite two other actors in the DCTV universe who have flipped the bird as well – one is on Supergirl, the other is on The Flash.
While it’s not exactly the best thing he could have done, at least he didn’t go on a profanity-laced tirade like another actor has done.
I don’t care if he’s the first or not. Doing that in his street clothes off work is one thing but this was not that. See comments under last weeks Speeding Bulletin.
From the looks of the picture, it looks like it was taken while relaxing and not meant to be posted online. In that realm, I’m ok with it. If he was doing this outside for fans, that’d be a very different story.
Where in the heck is this photo at??
I believe it was posted on David Harewood’s Instagram account. It’s mentioned in the recent Speeding Bulletin’s Great Scott! segment.
Didn’t know it happened, but voted “Don’t care”. I really don’t give a toss; I don’t partake in the religiosity of pop-culture icons, regardless of how important they are to me. Tyler’s a man; as in, a human being, hired to do a job. Flipping the bird in current year 2017 is about as shocking as skirts over the ankles.
For whatever my two cents is worth… (Somebody out there cares to read it, right?) When you don the suit — at least, when you don it professionally — you take on a little more responsibility. It’s not just you now, it’s something more. As such, you really should accept that responsibility and take it seriously. Take Matt Smith from Doctor Who, for example. While he had the role, he made every effort to be friendly with every child he met, whether on a set, at a convention, or just on the street. Because, as he put it, if you… Read more »
