Young Justice: Episode Reviews

Season 1 - Episode 19: "Misplaced"

5Rating - 5 (out of 5): Perhaps this review may be a little biased because I'd been eagerly awaiting the comeback of this show. Oh well, I shan't change my mind. This was a great comeback episode! I'm happy to see Zatanna with the team, despite the fact that Zatara is no longer there. Having a magic user is essential to all teams. Just like you need a tactician (Batman), a tank (Superman), a mind reader (Martian Manhunter), and a guy that can talk to fish (Aquaman). Sorry Aquaman and Aqualad, I truly do love you guys.

I was glad to see more of Captain Marvel and his perseverance when he couldn't change. He showed that the true hero doesn't need powers to be a hero. And Zatanna also showing true sacrifice, knowing that by putting on the helmet of Dr. Fate that even if her life was lost she would have saved an entire world.

The episode felt longer than the 22-23 minutes it actually was. I'm not sure how they do it but my guess is magic.

Speaking of Magic, I've always loved the magic-based episodes with Zatanna, Zatara, Klarion, Dr. Fate, etc. I have always felt the magic users are underdeveloped for DC so that's why I'm glad we'll be seeing more of Zatanna.

I liked how the episode ended with the briefcase with the echinoderm piece. We last saw this in the Atlantis episode with Aqualad. They have been able to bring a piece of the story back to the present when they could have been lazy and ignored the foreshadowing they had in that episode. It's amazing how rewarding decent writing is. Take notes upcoming Green Arrow show on The CW.

The plot seems to be moving along where we left off, with the Light moving forward with something each episode. I eagerly anticipate more.
