Legion of Super Heroes: Episode Reviews

Season 2 - Episode 11: "In Your Dreams"

2Rating - 2 (out of 5): For weeks now I've been ranting about the dialogue on this show, and how it's used as straight silver age-style exposition in ways that no person would ever truly talk and how unbelievably horrible that is. I've listed example after example, and this week was no different as far as the episode was concerned. The big change is I'm only going to actually quote one line from the show, which basically sums up how far this show has fallen:

"Did you think you would surprise us, Legion? Because that's what we were hoping for when we hacked into your computer and planted that fake dream!"

All we need now is Adam West to jump out from behind a doorway and start dancing and the show will be complete as a spoof of the superhero genre. How can this show take itself seriously? How can we?

Why is it that Dream Girl can have visions about all of these attacks, but never go along on the missions to help stop them? All the mission teams were purely male. It's always sad when shows fall back into that trap.

Why would a mercenary group plant a fake dream... and leave a DATE STAMP on their fake DREAM? That is so unbelievably ludicrous and outside any realm of suspending disbelief. The worst part was that it wasn't even needed! In seeing the difference between reality and the recorded dream, Brainy and his fifth-level intellect would notice the difference and he'd go to help them... which is exactly what he did, but only after seeing the date stamp.

My half-level intellect just surpassed Brainiac 5. It's a sad, sad day.

There's also several gross leaps of logic in this episode, namely the Dark Circle being defeated the first time causing their leader to just assume this means the Legion has a precog on the team. Well naturally! There could be no other explanation at all.

And then they go from assuming that to KNOWING it, and somehow knowing that it functions through dreams so that they can sneak in and plant a fake dream. WHAT?

I don't know when the decision was made to cancel this show, but if I were in charge and I just saw these last three episodes in a row I'd make the same decision. It's just been awful, awful stuff.

This is Chas. A. Boogerjuice III, Esq., hoping the show can at least go out on a high note.
