Legion of Super Heroes: Episode Reviews

Season 1 - Episode 12: "Sundown - Part 1"

This is the first time we've seen so many Legion members in action in the same episode, even though some weren't more than background muscle during the big fight scene with the Controller robots.

Still, it was nice to see more of the team included and especially so considering the teamwork and different power combinations used to varying effect.

I don't much understand how Ferro Boy's shot at the Sun Eater could have missed, unless it was due to Phantom Girl dodging the incoming shot. But since the shot was locked onto the target before being fired, I don't see it changing direction in the middle of its trajectory. So that felt a little contrived, which is sad because I highly enjoyed the implementation and set-up of that tactic, which nicely showcased some of the things the Legion can do together that makes them more than the sum of their parts.

There was no explanation of how the Sun Eater was activated, but as this was only part 1 of 2 I'm hoping that will be explained in the next episode. There was also not much resolution to Bouncing Boy's troubles of feeling inadequate as leader, only that he suddenly seemed to go from being worried about it to not being worried about it at all, and being effective in his role again.

Still, this episode was energetic and exciting, even if it was mostly set-up for the big season finale in the next episode. Here's hoping the Fatal Five (in more than just holographic form) and/or Alexis Luthor and/or Mekt are involved somehow.
