Bad Hair Day

At Lexcorp, Ignatius the salamander joyfully peels his skin in his tank as an onlooker cringes in disgust at his appearance. Ignatius wonders what the big deal is then gets a glimpse of himself in the mirror and gets a different perspective. Ignatius thinks he's ugly and decides he needs hair no matter what, and sneaks into Lex's private room full of wigs; that's right: wigs. Ignatius goes through his... sigh... wigs and begins trying them on looking for the right image, and at one point tries on a woman's wig. Why would Lex have a woman's wig? I know it's played just for kid's comedy, but I found it really dumb. Regardless after a window washer accidentally falls watching Ignatius try on the wigs, Krypto comes to his rescue and discovers Ignatius. As he flies off, Ignatius decides he wants hair just like Krypto's. In the distance, a mother bird asks Krypto for help to save her nest of Starling's as they're about to be thrown in to a wind tunnel's fan. As Krypto tries to save them he gets blown in and a single hair is taken off him which gives Ignatius enough fuel to genetically create a hair gel which he pours on to his head. Nothing happens when he pours it on but the disappointed lizard awakes the next morning with a long set of white flowing hair. He then attempts to comb it but the strong hair from Krypto just cannot be combed, and he accepts it and goes on the town trying to romance another female reptile. Her owner, mysteriously walking around in the park, thinks he's a rat and Ignatius soon finds himself being chased by an angry mob.

He now wants no hair and tries to get the hair off his head with a saw and power tools. Meanwhile people continue chasing him thinking he's a rat. He's fluffed accidentally by water and air, and is knocked into an alley where he's found by Krypto who begins trimming his hair down with his heat vision and ends up cutting it in to a poodle style. I thought the whole prospect of Lex having a room full of wigs was too ludicrous for words. It's too out of character to think that such a powerful, confident, and threatening man in his position would have something as goofy as a personal room of wigs. Lex was always one to take weakness and use it as a strength, even personal image such as baldness. I just found it to be really ridiculous and it just took me out of the cartoon.

Krypto and Superman are flying off to the Arctic for an expedition and Krypto decides to leave Streaky behind to take care of things while he's gone. Streaky is more than willing to hold down the fort... by sleeping. He awoken by Bat Hound who needs Krypto's help in a case but finds he must settle for Streaky who desperately wants to help him in his venture. Bat Hound explains that Joker's Hyenas have teamed with Catwoman's cat Isis and are planning to steal a shipment of fish in a dock. They take off for the job but Isis is already at work as she and the Hyenas hypnotize the guards on the dock. The duo confront them, attempting to stop their dastardly deeds but are hit by a bag of fish, burying them. The trio of villains watches on, laughing. The duo take off after the evil animals as they make a break for it on the water. As Bat Hound and the Hyenas, Bud and Lou, fight, Streaky cowers and accidentally gets them caught. Streaky and Bat Hound find themselves strapped to a giant anchor above looming sharks, but Streaky saves the day making the fish hit Bud and Lou knocking them flat, as Bat Hound goes after Isis who he catches easily. I keep saying Bat Hound and Streaky are two great supporting characters and they're really funny here, especially their chemistry together as they argue and bicker, and Bathound watches angrily. Inevitably, all is saved, and Streaky pulls double duty as hero, as Krypto is quite prominently missing from both episodes this time around.
