Our Story:
Four weeks ago Clark and Lex both disappeared when the Fortress of Solitude collapsed leaving no traces behind in the frozen wasteland of the Arctic. Now, a team of Lex's employees search for signs of anything where they last knew Lex to be. A woman walks into the tent and announces herself to be Tess Mercer and she says that Lex has left her in charge of all his affairs in his absence. Lex's man Regan scoffs at her but she assures him she's in charge as Lex wanted her to be. A technician announces that sonar scans have picked up what could be human remains under the ice. Suddenly the Green Arrow appears at the back of the shelter and fires an arrow into the electronic gear creating havoc. Then the Black Canary appears and screams sonic blasts at personnel and equipment while the Green Arrow fires crossbow taser bolts into Luthorcorp employees. While checking out the sonar scan Green Arrow is surprised when Regan appears from behind holding a gun on him, but Aquaman crashes from under the freezing water to knock him out.
They go to the trench the sonar pointed to and find Clark's red jacket but no other sign of him is left and they wonder where the last son of Krypton has vanished to? Next we see Lois Lane dressed as a maid breaking into a safe in Lex's now dusty mansion where she retrieves a computer drive with names of detainees at a place in Black Creek Montana and the drive she takes is marked S-Z. Just as she hides the disk in her outfit Tess Mercer walks into the office interrupting her. Lois tells Tess she's there to try and find out where her cousin Chloe Sullivan has disappeared to since Lex had the Department of Domestic Security arrest her. Tess tells Lois that while Lex gave her latitude in her activities she has no intention of letting her get away with anything and she has security escort her from the room. At the Black Creek facility a man has Chloe sitting in a chair and she's watching a computer screen flashing hundreds of images in rapid succession but somehow Chloe's brain is keeping track of each image and she names them in the order of their appearance.
The man tells Chloe her cognitive thinking is now faster then a super computer but Chloe says all she wants is a lawyer and a court date. The man says she can either serve her country for twelve months with her new abilities or go to Federal prison for twenty years for hacking classified information. Oliver, Dinah, and Arthur are checking computer records and satellite photos but can find no trace of Clark but Oliver explains Clark's special and they must continue their search. In a Russian town called Verkhoyansk we see a now powerless Clark struggling to load boxes in the falling rain. The work boss refuses to let Clark call anyone and says he'll keep working for him as long as he wants him to. Clark sees an idling truck and leaping into it he drives for the gate but a guard with a machine gun stops his escape attempt with a volley of bullets. The work boss beats Clark badly for trying to escape and tells Clark he won't be so nice if he tries it again. In Metropolis Tess confronts Regan wondering if he's really trying to find Lex and Regan replies he's found an encoded signal from the group that attacked them at the North Pole.
Tess tells Regan his future employment depends entirely on him doing everything possible to find Lex's whereabouts. Back in Black Creek the man named Ray has Chloe using her new abilities to look at an encoded transmission he says terrorists used and he tells her to find three cell phone numbers hidden in the signal. She reads out two of the numbers as she sees them and when she stops during the third number it's because she realizes it belongs to Oliver Queen. The Luthorcorp agents have already used the first two numbers to track down Arthur Curry and Dinah Lance and they've been captured with tranquilizer dart guns. When Chloe realizes she's not being held by the D.D.S. she kicks Ray away from her and runs through the building before being tackled. As she's subdued Regan walks up to Ray and tells him they must use Chloe to find the third person who attacked them at all costs! Now we're back in Russia where Clark is being beaten again for resisting his captors. Then an interruption appears in the form of Oliver walking up talking in Russian saying he's been sent there to buy a lot of illegal caviar. He pretends to pick a fight with Clark and he tells the work boss he'll buy a lot of caviar and he throws the man a wad of money while saying he wants to finish Clark off too. The man grins and agrees and Oliver leads Clark away from his captivity.
On Oliver's jet Clark explains his Fortress was destroyed and his father Jor-El has taken his powers away. He tells Oliver that if he survived the experience without his powers then Lex could have also and now Lex knows Clark's secrets making him even more dangerous. Clark says he wandered off through the Arctic and passed out and when he awoke he was on a Russian fishing boat. When he mentions Chloe's arrest, Oliver explains his lawyers have found out that the D.D.S. never arrested Chloe and that a facility in Black Creek is where she is probably being held by Lex's people. Oliver also tells Clark that Dinah and Arthur have been taken captive and the two resolve to get their friends back. At that moment Regan is questioning Dinah and Arthur demanding to know who the alien known as the Traveler is and what he's done with Lex which the pair deny any knowledge of. Then Oliver and Clark arrive and break into the facility and they split up to increase their odds of finding their captured comrades. While searching, Clark meets Lois impersonating one of the guards and she confronts Clark along with two other guards. Lois and Clark turn on the two guards knocking them out and they team up to find Chloe.
Chloe awakens strapped to a chair in front of a monitor and Regan explains that Lex had a serum created using Chloe's mother's ability to make people do as she wished. He injects Chloe with the serum which only works for a short while but its long enough for Chloe to give Regan Oliver's cell phone number and the computer tells him that Oliver's in the same building! Oliver has found the chained Arthur and Dinah but before he can free them Regan comes from behind and injects him with the serum he used on Chloe and he commands Oliver to find out what happened to Lex. Clark and Lois find Chloe and they break into the room where Ray uses a taser to knock out Lois and then Clark returns the favor by punching Ray out. Clark tells Chloe he's now powerless and he tells her to watch Lois while he looks for Oliver. He runs into the now entranced Oliver who demands Clark tell him where Lex is and when Clark says he doesn't know Oliver shoots him in the shoulder with an arrow. Clark painfully pulls the arrow from his bleeding shoulder explaining he really doesn't know what happened to Lex and Oliver's response this time is to shoot an arrow straight through his chest!
The serum wears off with Oliver rushing to Clark's side in horror at what he's just done. Then Chloe runs up telling Oliver to back away and she tries to use her healing ability on Clark but it's disappeared! As Clark life slips away he sees those he's loved in this life flash before his eyes and then his heart finally stops. But with no warning J'onn J'onzz the Martian Manhunter appears and picks Clark's body up. He flies straight through the window and in a red blur he and Clark disappear as they fly into space. The next thing Clark knows he's awakening in his barn loft back in Smallville and J'onn explains he flew him towards the sun and its rays healed Clark and restored his powers. But J'onn's exposure to the sun has robbed him of his abilities and now he must disappear for awhile to heal. J'onn says that Clark's father Jor-El knew he was sending Clark on an impossible odyssey where he would gain the powers of a god and yet live amongst human beings at the same time. Clark says he now realizes that he's been trying to hold on to his old life on the farm but he sees now that he must leave it behind and seek a new life out in the world.
Tess enters Lex's office in the mansion while she reads an article about Regan disappearing. She sits at Lex's desk just as an aide enters the room with a briefcase which she says holds the only thing found besides a footprint at the arctic site. Tess orders the search for Lex to continue and when the aide leaves Tess opens the briefcase and we see a Kryptonian blue crystalline artifact in the shape of a pentagram. Chloe sits in her apartment reading computer screens flashing in front of her and she wonders what has happened to her. She hears a noise and goes downstairs to find Jimmy who tells her he is sorry he was so presumptuous by asking her to marry him. But Chloe tells Jimmy she realizes how much he means to her and she says yes she'll marry him and the two happily embrace. In Metropolis Clark meets with Oliver, Dinah, and Arthur and Oliver explains that now that Luthorcorp knows their identities they must split up and go underground to stay free. They will each search for Lex and hopefully get back together in the future. Next Clark goes to the Daily Planet where he tells Lois he filled out the application for a job there that she gave him. He says he wants to be in the middle of the action and that they're now neighbors and he leaves smiling. Lois picks up the nameplate from the desk in front of hers and she's surprised to see "Clark Kent" written on it. As she smiles we realize that Clark has entered a new and very important part of the never-ending battle!

Roles & Actors this episode:
Co-Starring: Bette: Jessica Parker Kennedy
Davis Bloome: Sam Witwer
Clark Kent: Tom Welling
Lois Lane: Erica Durance
Tess Mercer: Cassidy Freeman
Chloe Sullivan: Allison Mack

Our Story:
Clark shows up for his first day as a reporter at the Daily Planet but Lois tells him that his flannel shirt belongs on the farm and not in the newsroom. She borrows a co-worker's spare set of clothes and pushes Clark into a phone booth so he can change. He exits the booth looking more professional but suddenly an explosion outside grabs everyone's attention. Clark speeds outside to find a bus has exploded causing terrible damage and passengers are trapped in the bus which is now on its side. As a boy with a skateboard rushes by him, Clark peels the roof away like paper to free trapped passengers and he starts helping people out of the ruined vehicle. The last passenger is dazed and Clark carries her from the bus not realizing he's carrying the new acting C.E.O. of Luthorcorp, Tess Mercer. Chloe arrives on the scene and spies a young girl reeling from the explosion. She comforts the girl, who says her name is Bette, and then gets a paramedic to examine her. He gives the girl oxygen and tells Chloe his name is Davis and he says the girl is fine but should go to the hospital to be sure.
Clark finds Chloe at the scene and Davis watches as they talk, noting Clark's concern for Chloe's wellbeing. Clark tells Chloe he wants to work at the Planet so when there are problems like the bus explosion he can find out who needs help immediately. Chloe warns Clark that her cousin Lois being around him will make it difficult for him to sneak off to save the day but Clark is confident he can keep fooling Lois. He returns to the newsroom only to be summoned before the new C.E.O. and he's shocked when he meets Tess formally. Tess tells Clark that Lex said Clark likes to save people and then she asks him if he has any idea where Lex had disappeared to. Clark says no and that he and Lex haven't been friends for a long time and that Tess should be cautious that her new position doesn't consume her as it did Lex. He leaves and Tess makes a promise to personally keep an eye on him. Chloe finds Bette at Metropolis General Hospital and when she sees Davis she tells him that Bette is a street kid with no home. He offers Bette a spot in a girl's home for street kids but Bette refuses while agreeing to stay with Chloe and she'll consider the offer from Davis.
Clark uses his super-hearing to learn that no trace of a bomb or any kind of explosive was found on the bus. He tells Lois what he's discovered and Lois goes to find passengers from the bus while telling Clark to follow up with Bette. Clark asks Bette for help explaining to her about meteor-infected people gaining powers and he wonders if that's the cause of the explosion. Bette says that a boy named Tommy found such a rock and now he claims when he gets excited that things get hotter around him. Bette tells Clark she'll take him to where Tommy is and they arrive at a back alley in the city. When Bette points out Tommy, Clark remembers that he was the boy running away from the bus after the blast. They approach Tommy who runs from them in fear. Bette tells Tommy it will be all right but he still cowers at the sight of them. Unnoticed by Clark, Bette's eyes get a fiery look in them and suddenly Tommy disappears in an explosive blast of flame. As they turn to leave, Bette smiles just a little bit and we can see that she's secretly pleased Tommy was blown up!
Clark tells Lois what happened with Tommy and she decides they need to get his autopsy report to find out if meteor rocks had infected the young man. Davis meets Chloe at the Isis Foundation that Lana used to run and he tells her that Bette's been approved for a spot in the home he mentioned earlier. Then Davis surprises Chloe by saying he's become aware of meteor-infected people and he thinks the Isis foundation is a good idea for helping them. He suggests Chloe run the foundation full-time and Chloe tells him she's found out he was an orphan who grew up with a rough childhood. Then Chloe tells Davis she's engaged and he says that if she's found real love she should fight to keep it. Tess Mercer is investigating Bette and an aide says he feels she should be killed as she is too dangerous, but Tess tells him to find Bette and bring the girl to her. Lois and Clark get into the hospital and while Lois sneaks into the records room Clark meets Davis in the hallway. They formally introduce themselves and then Davis congratulates Clark on his engagement to Chloe. Clark explains he's not the lucky guy and he didn't know Chloe was engaged. Davis makes Clark promise not to mention he told him about Chloe's impending nuptials and leaves.
Chloe returns to her apartment and tells Bette she's gotten approved for the home Davis mentioned but Bette insists she's leaving town. When Chloe goes to call the home for her, Bette uses her power to make an object on the table explode. Chloe realizes that it was Bette who made the bus explode and Bette tells her she wishes she didn't force her to use her power. Lois shows Clark the autopsy report and there's no mention of meteor rock infection in Tommy. Clark then realizes that Bette was present at both explosions and he rightly figures it was Bette all along who was causing the blasts. When Lois turns away for a second, Clark speeds off to stop from Bette from possibly harming Chloe. Bette tells Chloe that she purposely killed Tommy as he informed on her to a corporation that had previously held her captive for years and ran tests on her. When Bette says she was recently released Chloe realizes Bette is talking about Luthorcorp's Black Creek facility where she was held for a month. She tries to reason with Bette but the girl says she can't risk Chloe turning her in either and as Chloe runs down the stairs Bette fires a pyrotechnic blast at her. Chloe trips and falls as she's running but Clark arrives and speeds over to grab Chloe and turns his back towards Bette causing her blast to ricochet off his invulnerable body and back at Bette stunning the would be fiery assassin!
Clark tells Bette she doesn't have to hide her power and fear people trying to use her anymore. Clark holds out his hand to help and a tired and scared Bette takes it hoping her ordeal is over. After Bette is taken to Belle Reve for help, Clark tells Chloe he found her engagement ring after she fell down the stairs. The two share a very awkward moment as Chloe tries to explain why she didn't tell Clark about marrying Jimmy. She says that after she and Jimmy are wed she knows it will have to change her relationship with Clark. Clark reassures her that all that matters to him is the happiness he knows she'll find with Jimmy. But when he hugs her in congratulations the look on his face is one of painful loss. Tess intercepts Bette on her way to Belle Reve and offers to have her join a team she's forming of people with powers like Bette's. Bette tells Tess that she was her intended target that day as Tess was on the bus to try and take Bette prisoner. Tess tells Bette she either joins her or she can spend years locked up in Belle Reve. Tess insists she'll make a hero out of Bette and we know how unlikely that is. Lois gets a front page story out of all this and Clark gets to write Tommy's obituary, but Lois encourages Clark saying she's pleased with how well they worked together and she thinks he has a long career ahead of him at the Daily Planet. Time will prove Lois is speaking a larger truth then even she could expect from that statement.
Chloe calls Davis and leaves him a message thanking him for trying to help Bette. Then she says that she's decided to run the Isis Foundation full time as he suggested. As she speaks we hear her message being recorded as Davis lies in a Metropolis alleyway stark naked and shivering. His forehead flesh distorts and then reverts to a normal state as he comes fully awake with stark fear in his eyes. Something dark is lurking in Davis Bloome and only time will tell exactly what that darkness is made of.

"Toxic"

Written By: Caroline Dries
Directed By: Mairzee Almas
Produced By: Al Septien & Turi Meyer
Aired in the U.S.A.: 10/02/08

Roles & Actors this episode:
Co-Starring: Ron Selmour
Davis Bloome: Sam Witwer
Clark Kent: Tom Welling
Lois Lane: Erica Durance
Tess Mercer: Cassidy Freeman
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow: Justin Hartley
Chloe Sullivan: Allison Mack

Our Story:
Chloe and Clark are attending a Rainforest benefit dinner run by Oliver Queen and Chloe teases Clark about how much time he and Lois are spending together since they both now work for the Daily Planet. Billionaire Oliver Queen arrives and the paparazzi surround him and his date shooting pictures but then Oliver starts to stagger and reel until finally he collapses on the floor. Clark and Chloe rush to help him and Clark tells Oliver he knows he's not drunk so what is wrong? Oliver shocks Clark and Chloe when he tells them not only has he been poisoned, but he has only twelve hours to live! Oliver insists he not be taken to a hospital so Clark and Chloe bring him to the Isis Foundation that Chloe runs in Lana's absence. Clark is angry that Chloe listened to Oliver when he insisted on not going to a hospital but he agrees Oliver wouldn't have wanted it that way without a good reason. Davis Bloome the paramedic has been called by Chloe and he arrives and starts to work on trying to save Oliver. Davis leaves to get a heart monitor but he warns Chloe that if Oliver's condition doesn't improve in one hour he will have to take him to a hospital.
Lois walks into Tess Mercer's office and sees the pictures of Oliver collapsing at the benefit and Tess taunts Lois that she can't be objective writing a story about him since Lois and he were once an item. Lois takes that bet and insists on taking the story to find out exactly what happened to Oliver and leaves. Clark is seeking out Oliver's date from the benefit and he finds her by using his super-hearing to locate her cell phone when it rings as he uses Oliver's phone. Unfortunately she has been found passed out in the bathroom and the medic taking her to the hospital tells Clark that she may not live. Oliver is feverish and he's reliving the events that created his alter-ego Green Arrow. He's just washed up on an island after the Queen family yacht he borrowed to party on has been destroyed in a storm and stranded him there. For days he goes without food until in desperation he makes himself a crude bow and he starts to fashion arrows. He practices and practices until over the course of two years his skill with the bow is almost uncanny. He is overjoyed one day when he hears a boat's motor and as he runs to observe the new arrivals, he scratches himself on a flowering plant and within seconds he collapses from the plant's powerful toxins. As he remembers all this in his fever dream we see him back at the Isis Foundation where Lois has trailed him to.
As Lois worries over him, Oliver is reliving waking back up on the island to see Tess Mercer standing over him telling him she's put leeches on his body for the curing enzyme they secrete. She warns Oliver that a hospital would have misdiagnosed him and pumped him full of adrenaline which would kill him. Tess says she's a Marine biologist and she and her friend have been kidnapped by the men outside the tent who are brandishing shotguns. Back in the present, Clark has followed Oliver's date to the hospital where he sees Davis who tells him that Oliver and his date may have been poisoned by something they drank in their limousine while enroute to the benefit. Davis says he's bringing Oliver into the hospital as they've given Oliver's date adrenalin and she has responded well, but then just as Tess warned Oliver while on the island, she suddenly goes into shock and the hapless girl dies! Oliver dreams of when Tess woke him and saved his life and then she says that she and her friends were performing marine research when the party was attacked by two men with guns who killed everyone except for Tess and her friend Megan who's lying nearby. When the pirate's boat started taking on water they stopped on the island for repairs.
One of the attackers named Marcos enters the tent and tells Oliver he knows who he is and he intends to ransom him to his family for millions. And with that he calmly turns and shoots Megan and then turns his gun towards Tess to kill her also. But Oliver puts himself between Tess and Marcos telling him he's been there for two years and if he must die it will be for something worthwhile. With that Marcos lowers his weapon telling them that their boat is nearly repaired after which they will leave. While Oliver lies near death, Lois confesses to him that she wonders if they did the right thing breaking up so he could go save the world. Chloe is researching the poison at lightning fast speed using the heightened intelligence she seems to have gained after being attacked by Brainiac, the alien computer that appears human. She tells Clark since she's gained these new abilities she might as well put them to use for something good, but Clark is worried that this warns of future danger from the living computer he's battled before. Chloe has found the flower the poison is derived from in Luthorcorp's database and she tells Clark he must ask Tess Mercer for help as she's now the acting C.E.O. of the company.
When Clark tells Tess that Oliver Queen is dying from the poison, she tells Clark the lab that Luthorcorp had the plant and its antidote research relocated to Campo Grande in Brazil and no one could get the medicine back to Metropolis in time to save Oliver. In his dream, Oliver comforts Tess who is mourning her murdered friend Megan. He helps Tess take off a bracelet she gave Megan and now Tess will wear the bracelet in memory of her. Oliver fashions a crude small spear and when they prepare to leave he jumps one of the pirates and when Marcos goes to shoot him he throws the small weapon through the deadly plant that almost killed him. The barb carries the deadly plant's poison into Marcos who he tells to crawl down to the leech pond if he wants to live, and then he and Tess take their boat and leave the island. In the present Oliver's losing his battle against the same plant that almost killed him before and Davis and Lois buy Oliver a few more minutes of life by covering him in ice packs to slow the toxin down. But time finally runs out and Oliver's heart stops and Davis and Lois frantically try to revive him. With a whoosh of air Clark speeds into the building and hands Davis a needle telling him to use it.
Davis plunges the needle into Oliver's chest and after tense seconds he starts to recover and then at last he awakens from his fever coma. Oliver tells Clark that whoever did this to him will attack Mercy next. Then he says that Mercy is Tess Mercer and when Clark registers surprise that Oliver knows her, he says that Tess is working late at the Daily Planet and he races off to save her. Tess is walking out to her car and she finds a tire has a knife in it; a knife she saw Marcos carrying years ago on the island. Marcos comes from behind and tells her he's taken years to find her and she's still the frightened girl she was all those years ago. But Tess surprises Marcos with first a head-butt, then a kick to the abdomen stunning him. She tells him she is grateful to him for being one of the people that taught her how to fight back in life. But Marcos is too strong and overpowers her with a vicious blow and then he staggers towards the fallen woman with his knife. Clark speeds up from behind him and he uses his heat-vision to knock a row of transformers from a utility pole and it swats Marcos away like a fly. He then speeds off as Tess arises wondering at her close call and seeming good luck.
Oliver visits Tess after he's recovered showing her a smear article the Planet ran on him claiming he was drunk the night of the poisoning. She mocks Oliver saying he's still the playboy he swore he'd never be after they left the island. He sees Tess is still wearing her friend Megan's bracelet and the two soften at each other for only a moment, then Tess bitterly reminds Oliver he never even said goodbye to her years ago. Oliver says he's disappointed that not only did she go to work for Lex Luthor his greatest enemy, but now she even runs his company. But Tess is unapologetic saying she's risen to the top for her own good and has no regrets, and then she gives Oliver a file with information about Lionel Luthor, the now dead father of Lex. Oliver is shocked by what he sees but we don't know what that is yet. Clark sees Lois at the Planet and they admit to each other that they both still have feelings for their past loves, Lana in Clark's case and Oliver in Lois', but they broke off their relationships for good reasons and they must remember that fact when old feelings are stirred up. At the Isis Foundation Chloe finds Davis waiting for her and when he sees the huge amount of scientific work she's doing he says she's obviously very intelligent and she shouldn't be ashamed and hide it as he too has sides to himself he doesn't let the world see.
Clark finds Oliver downing shots at a bar and he warns Oliver that alcohol can be poisonous too but Oliver shows Clark the file Tess gave him. It shows that Luthorcorp personnel were working on the plane that crashed and killed Oliver's parents and then he wants to know if Clark suspected Lionel Luthor was involved in the tragic deaths. Clark admits he suspected it but didn't tell Oliver as he was afraid what he would do when he found out. Oliver tells Clark that despite his powers and abilities he's still afraid in many ways, and unlike Oliver, Clark has yet to face his fears as Oliver was forced to while trapped on the island. He then tells Clark that he too will one day be forced to face down his fears. Marcos gets out from jail and is getting into a cab to leave when Tess walks up and scratches him with the same deadly flower that he used on Oliver. She tells him that she bailed him out and he collapses on the cab's seat and then she tells the driver to take him to the hospital knowing full well they will most likely misdiagnose him and he'll die from that mistake. She gets in her car and as she drives away we see her license plate says, "No Mercy" on it. And now we know that's not just a private joke to Tess; it's her personal philosophy.

Lois Lane: Erica Durance
Tess Mercer: Cassidy Freeman
Jimmy Olsen: Aaron Ashmore
Chloe Sullivan: Allison Mack

Our Story:
Tess Mercer has contacted one of Lex Luthor's top scientists to try and figure out just what the pentagonal blue crystal is that was found in the arctic at the spot Lex vanished from. The man tells her that the crystal appears to be some sort of alien computer disk drive and he then says that the crystal responds to vibrations. He starts a frequency generator up and the crystal starts to spin and then suddenly a blue beam shoots straight up from it that travels through the mansion ceiling and out into the night sky. On a street in Metropolis a man sees a flashing light appear from an alleyway and he walks towards it. A brilliant shaft of light forms into the outline of a woman and when it fades a beautiful redhead is standing in the spot. She tells the man she saw the Kryptonian beacon and followed it to Earth and she also says that her name is Maxima and she is the queen of Almerac. The man plays along as he is captivated by the woman and they start to kiss passionately but then the man starts to bleed from his nose and he collapses while asking the woman what's happening to him. She tells him he is dying because he's not the one she is searching for, but she will find the one she seeks! The next morning Clark is getting ready for work when he takes out the crystal necklace he gave Lana so long ago and the pain of losing her is evident from his expression.
Then Lois calls and tells him to hurry to work and seconds later he speeds into the Daily Planet and Lois tells him she's being kept up by Jimmy's snoring as he's staying with her and Chloe until the two get married. She mentions that Clark's got the farmhouse all to himself and Clark looks sad which prompts Lois to say he's got to move on as Lana's never coming back and it's time he started dating again. Then she hands him a possible story lead about a 25 year old stockbroker who not only died of a heart attack but he had abnormal levels of endorphin and adrenaline in him when he died. Clark reads on and finds that the hormone levels found in the man were higher then a human could produce. Jimmy's unpacking at Chloe's when he finds a letter that Chloe wrote to Clark where she tells Clark that she's the girl of his dreams masquerading as his best friend. Chloe sees Jimmy reading the letter and tells him that it's something she wrote back when she was fifteen, but Jimmy is still upset that Chloe's never said things like that to him. Tess Mercer gets an expensive dress and an invitation from Oliver Queen to join him at the Aces of Clubs nightspot but she turns the offer down. Maxima speeds into the room and demands to know where the owner of the crystal is but Tess asks who would that person be? Maxima says that the crystal's owner is a Kryptonian and Tess offers to help her find him. But Maxima grabs her by the neck claiming that Tess is trying to keep him for herself as she knows the beacon came from that room. She throws Tess into the wall stunning her and then she takes the dress and the invitation and heads for the Ace of Clubs!
Lois and Clark go to the alleyway where the stockbroker died and while Lois talks to police Clark uses his super-vision on a burn mark in the pavement. Under the scorched pavement Clark sees some sort of ornate symbol but then Lois says she's been told that several men have been found dead with the same symptoms between Smallville and Metropolis. At the Ace of Clubs Maxima sees Jimmy is the only one alone there so she tells him he must be the one she's looking for. Back at Chloe's apartment Clark enters showing her a copy of the symbol he saw in the alleyway and Chloe says it's the crest symbol of the royal family of Almerac. She says that the woman must have teleported there using a bracelet that acts as a warp drive and the dead men are the result of not being able to survive her kiss as her intended mate would be and that means Clark is her target. She starts to look for a pattern to trace the woman and Clark says he's very worried about all the knowledge Chloe's gained since she was attacked by Brainiac. Chloe tells him that he can't cure her of what's happened to her and that another victim has just been found outside the Ace of Clubs and she tells Clark to go stop this woman. At that moment Maxima has taken Jimmy out onto the balcony at the club and he tells her he's in love already but Maxima tells him that one kiss will change that and they lock lips. A deadly surge of endorphins enter Jimmy and he starts to bleed from the nose and Maxima tells him she's sorry but he's not the one for her. As he collapses and Maxima walks away, Clark enters the club and he super-speeds through the room to catch him but he doesn't notice that Maxima has seen him as he speeds. She watches Clark speed Jimmy away for help and she knows that she has found her mate at last.
Tess meets Chloe as she's leaving her apartment and she says she wants Chloe to hack into a very unique supercomputer for her. Chloe says no so Tess tells her she knows all of Chloe's secrets but Chloe still refuses despite Tess' veiled threat. At the hospital Jimmy wakes up and Clark tells him he got him there just in time and Jimmy tells Clark about the love letter he found that Chloe wrote. Clark says that everyone has to learn to move on in life and then he asks Jimmy about the woman he kissed. Jimmy says he doesn't remember anything and Clark tells him he must find the woman before she kills again. Then Chloe comes in the room and Clark says that Jimmy got hurt at the club and the important thing is that Chloe and Jimmy are together again. He goes back to the Planet where the lights suddenly dim and then Maxima speeds into the room. She tells Clark her name is Maxima and she's searched for Clark for a long time. Then they embrace and the more they kiss the more excited they become. They go into the elevator to continue and their passion grows until the elevator doors open and it's Lois who sees what's going on. She gets upset and goes to leave and Clark chases after her but Lois insists she doesn't care about whoever Clark wants to kiss. They turn and Maxima has disappeared and Lois storms out of the building to her parked car. But when Lois looks up she sees Maxima standing there and without a word the alien queen picks up her car and throws it through the air and it crashes upside down on top of other parked cars!
Lois starts to crawl from her wrecked car when Maxima comes up to her saying she won't allow Lois to take Clark away from her. Lois denies any emotional involvement between herself and Clark but Maxima says he couldn't have broken away from her unless there was a deep connection between the two of them whether they realize it or not. Maxima is about to kill Lois when several laser targets appear on her back and a voice yells, "Freeze!" She turns to face a squad of men in tactical gear with their weapons pointed at her and the only reaction she can give is a smile. Clark enters the Isis Foundation while leaving Chloe a phone message and he's confronted by Tess Mercer. She sees Clark has a photo of Maxima and he says the woman is wanted for murder and he's working on the story and then she tells Clark she's met the woman. Then Tess surprises Clark by showing him the pentagonal blue Kryptonian crystal and saying that Maxima is looking for its owner. Tess tells Clark it's the only thing that was found where Lex disappeared and she asked for Chloe's help with the object. Then her phone rings and its Tess' tactical squads saying they've found Maxima and giving their location. As Clark uses his super-hearing to eavesdrop on the conversation, gunfire breaks out and the call suddenly goes dead. Before Tess can turn around Clark has sped out of the room intent on stopping Maxima.
Maxima has laid waste to the tactical squad and the immediate area as Lois finally gets free from her car and the alien suitor strides towards her with Lois ready to fight back. But before Maxima can kill Lois, Clark super-speeds onto the scene scooping Maxima up and away and Lois can only wonder what's just happened. Clark takes Maxima behind some buildings where she revels that she's finally found a man with some fight in him as all the men on her planet couldn't handle her. She says she had heard stories her whole life about the brave and gallant men of Krypton who were worthy of standing at a queen's side and then the planet was destroyed. She tells Clark she saw the beacon and knew she had found a survivor and Clark tells her he didn't send the signal but Maxima doesn't care as she's finally found her soul mate in Clark. She tells Clark she sensed that he was desperate to find a soul mate too and that they share a common destiny with each other. Clark knows it's true that he wants someone to share his life but even though he struggles with the truth of Maxima's words he tells her that he's not the one for her and his destiny is on Earth, not Almerac. Then he grabs her wrist and activates the bracelet which teleports Maxima away and back to her planet. Later at the Isis Foundation Chloe enters and Clark says that Jimmy never had a chance at resisting Maxima and it was a struggle for him too and then he mentions Chloe's letter she wrote all those years ago.
Chloe gives him the letter and as he read it she says that was how she felt back then but relented as she knew that he loved Lana. She says letting him read it now enables her to close that chapter of her life and move on to the person she feels is perfect for her and that person is Jimmy. She tells Clark that they'll always be close to each other and that's why she's hoping Clark will give her away at her wedding to Jimmy and he agrees saying he only wants her to be happy and he's honored by her request. Clark says that he now thinks that Jor-El could cure her of her infection by Brainiac since he created him and if he can get the crystal from Tess he can recreate the Fortress and get Jor-El to help. Chloe rightly deduces that the crystal must be the supercomputer Tess wanted her to hack into but Clark says he's searched the Daily Planet and Lex's mansion and found no sign of it but Chloe thinks that now they must use guile instead of a direct approach. Chloe visits Tess at the mansion telling her that she'd be willing to take a look at the supercomputer that was mentioned earlier but Tess says its been stolen and she intends to retrieve it and she may ask for Chloe's help when she gets it back. Lois visits Clark up in his barn loft and Clark thanks her for saving him from Maxima and he also thinks they haven't seen the last of her. But Lois says she's ready for her despite how dangerous she was.
Clark tells Lois about Chloe's letter and he worries that if his soul mate comes along he might not recognize her as he never knew how Chloe felt at the time either. Lois says that he will recognize the right one when she comes along and then Clark offers to have Lois move into the farmhouse with him as she's uncomfortable living with Chloe and Jimmy. But Lois remembers trying to live with Clark before and she says she doesn't think it would work out. That night Tess Mercer receives a cryptic e-mail whose title is "Looking for this?" and when she opens it she sees the missing crystal and a line that types onto the screen saying, "You are not ready yet.-X." Tess stares at the crystal in wonder because whoever has it must know what it is and the message means she may yet obtain it, to what purpose and from whoever has it remains a mystery for now!

Our Story:
Chloe and Jimmy are having an engagement party at the Talon coffee shop in Smallville where Lois is feeling quite cynical about Jimmy's marrying Chloe. She starts drinking too much too fast despite Clark warning her to take it slower. Clark tells Lois to accept them as a couple as their happiness seems obvious and he hopes she'll come around to supporting her cousin Chloe's choice to wed Jimmy. Lois suddenly jumps up on one of the stools and begins what's supposed to be a toast but it takes a left turn when she gets sarcastic about how girl's lie to themselves about who is right for them. Clark whisks her off the stool before she gets more offensive and he tells the crowd that he hopes all are happy about the pending nuptials and the crowd's initial disapproval over Lois' words fade due to Clark's intervention. After the party Jimmy apologizes about his parents not attending due to his father closing a huge deal in England. Then Chloe tells Jimmy she's happy he seems to have finally gotten over his initial jealousy of Clark but when Jimmy hugs her he has a look on his face that says something is still worrying him. As they talk a car down the alley turns its high beam headlights on blinding them although they can make out a man standing in front of the car. Then the man shoots the couple with a tranquilizer gun which drops them to the ground unconscious!
The next afternoon finds a very hung over Lois waking up on the couch in the Kent farmhouse with Clark giving her a bromo seltzer for her quite painful headache. Lois notices she slept in one of Clark's old school jerseys and she worries that she and Clark may have gotten a little too close to each other but Clark reassures her that she changed her own clothes, but it took her an hour standing in his kitchen to do so. She then gets alarmed as she realizes that she's late for a dress fitting with Chloe and hurries to leave. At the Daily Planet Tess Mercer is unhappy with an aide who tells her she cannot trace the internet address of the computer that was used to send her the mysterious e-mail concerning the new owner of Clark's Kryptonian crystal which is all that was found at the North Pole where Lex Luthor disappeared from. The aide suggests it's a sign that Lex may still be alive but Tess wants proof of that and not hints about it. She enters her office to find Oliver Queen, secretly the Green Arrow, waiting for her. They verbally spar for a minute but then Oliver suggests a truce between the one-time couple and now business rivals by them going out to dinner. Tess agrees to the date and she has just the hint of a smile on her face after Oliver leaves. Clark and Lois enters Chloe's apartment but there's no sign of the couple. Then they find a message on Chloe's answering machine from the Smallville police informing them that their cars were towed last night.
As Clark and Lois wonder where the happy couple is, we see them waking up bound in a dark and dank basement. Then the man that abducted them appears wearing a strange translucent Halloween mask telling them he's going to help them find out if they're truly made for each other. When the man lights up the room, Jimmy and Chloe are shocked to see a dead man and woman strapped into chairs in front of them! Clark meets up with Lois at the Daily Planet and Lois tells him that three couples have also vanished in the last couple of weeks. Lois has found that two of the other couples that have vanished went to the same Bakery, Jewelry store and stationary shop as Chloe and Jimmy. The hapless couple is at that moment finding themselves strapped into the two chairs which held the dead couple. The man explains that he's hooked them up to a lie detector and then he hooks up electrical cables to the chairs too. He says that people entering marriage should have no secrets from each other and he's there to help them find out how honest they've been with each other. He asks Jimmy if he's ever cheated on Chloe and when Jimmy says no the detector shows that's a lie so the man pushes a hand switch which sends electricity through Chloe and she writhes in pain. Jimmy explains he kissed the woman called Maxima once but Chloe reassures Jimmy she knows that wasn't his fault and he says she's the only woman he's ever loved. Then their captor says that now it's Chloe's turn for truth and consequences.
Lois and Clark have checked with the stationary store but have found nothing untoward so they head for the jewelers next. But before they arrive Lois says she thinks they should pose as a couple getting married to draw out the kidnapper and Clark reluctantly agrees. They enter the jewelry store and pretend they're shopping for wedding rings and the clerk that helps them speaks of how happy it makes him to help couples to solidify their relationships. Then Oliver walks into the shop and the two reporters have to keep up their charade so they tell Oliver they're getting married. They then exit the shop leaving a totally bewildered Oliver in their wake. Their next stop is the bakers but they find nothing there so Clark suggests they split up in opposite directions to cover more ground and while Lois is walking Clark takes off in a super-speed burst leaving Lois talking to herself. Back in the basement it's Chloe's turn for questions and the man tells them he does this so they won't be hurt as he was. It seems his wife was not honest with him so he feels he had no choice but to kill her. Then he asks Chloe if she's ever cheated on Jimmy and when she says no the machine indicates that's the truth. Then he asks her if she's in love with anyone else and Chloe says no again and she tells Jimmy he's her love forever and the machine once again shows she's being truthful. The man congratulates them and pronounces them husband and wife and then picks up his tranquilizer gun and once again renders them unconscious!
Oliver enters the den in Lex's mansion looking for Tess and she's working out with a Bo staff and she throws one at Oliver which he catches and then she starts to attack. As Oliver fends off her blows Tess explains she's looking for no apologies for their broken relationship but she wants to know what he was afraid of that made him cheat on her all those years ago. All this talk is taking place in the middle of a spirited sparring session which ends with Oliver pinned against the wall. When he finally tells Tess that she scared him back then they stare into each other's eyes and then kiss passionately. Lois is calling Clark as she leaves work and she leaves him a message to call her back. Just as she hangs up the kidnapper shines his bright lights on her and shoots her with a tranquilizer dart saying she'll be seeing her fiancée soon enough. He puts Lois into his station wagon and when he removes his mask we see that it's the jewelry clerk from the store where Clark and Lois were earlier that day! Chloe and Jimmy awaken in their bed back at Chloe's apartment and Chloe tells Jimmy she thinks the fact that he has no secrets he keeps from her is the main reason they're both still alive. They kiss and then Jimmy says that they must call the Sheriff and when the authorities arrive the investigation starts and Clark comes in telling them that now Lois is missing.
He asks Chloe and Jimmy for help and when they say that the man talked about solidifying relationships Clark remembers that those are the very words the Jewelry clerk used. He speeds to the shop and then he uses his super-hearing and hears Lois talking to her captor. The doors to the basement explode into fragments as Clark enters and starts to free Lois, but the man comes from behind and knocks Clark out with a wrench. As Clark falls to the ground we see the man's watch has Kryptonite crystal stones in its band which is how the man was able to stun him. Next Clark wakes up in the chair opposite Lois and the man asks her if she's ever cheated on Clark and she says no. The lie detector shows that's not true so the man shocks Clark while Lois begs him to stop. Clark notices the Kryptonite pieces on the man's watch and seeing a nearby floor drain he waits for his chance to free them. The man charges up his generator while Lois explains that they're not even really a couple but the man is relentless and then asks Lois if she really loves Clark. Long seconds pass while Lois struggles with her thoughts and Clark says for her to simply tell the truth. The man repeats his question and finally breaking down in tears Lois looks at him and says yes. Clark braces for the expected shock but when the machine shows that's the truth he looks at Lois in surprise. Then the man asks Clark if he truly loves Lois and Clark puts his head down and mumbles.
That makes the man come closer to him and putting his hand on the arm of the chair he tells Clark to speak up. That's the chance Clark was hoping for and he grabs his watch from his wrist and then rams his head into the man's face stunning him. Clark throws the Kryptonite laced watch down the storm drain and his powers returned, he then uses his heat-vision to burst a nearby steam pipe filling the room with foggy vapors. As Lois calls Clark's name we hear Clark none too gently dispatching the insane kidnapper under cover of the steam and then he appears in front of Lois and frees her. The next day Chloe tells Lois she never knew how unhappy she is and Lois says that when she lost Oliver she found it hard to believe in love and she included Chloe and Jimmy in that category. But Chloe tells her she knows how much she loves Jimmy every time she sees him and Lois apologizes for doubting her and Jimmy's feelings. Jimmy comes in and Lois gives him a hug and welcomes him to the family which puts a smile on Chloe's face. Lois leaves and Jimmy says this experience has taught him to be honest for fear of hurting Chloe and he tells her he lied about his parents. His father isn't really an investment banker, he's a part-time mechanic and a full-time alcoholic and he's never even met his mother. He tells Chloe that he thought that in coming to Metropolis he had hit the big time so he lied about his background to hopefully make a better life for himself. He tells Chloe he's sorry and that guys with his background never get the nice girls like Chloe but she disagrees and hugs and kisses him rekindling hope in his young heart.
At the Luthor mansion Oliver awakens in Tess's bed and he gives her a diamond bracelet he bought in the jewelry store and asks her to fly with him to Malibu for dinner. Tess closes the case and tells him to keep the bracelet to impress the next woman he beds as what happened last night meant nothing to her and he asks what happened to her to make her so bitter. Tess tells Oliver she grew up and he ran off on her and that's why she's the way she is. She tells him to find his way out and then she leaves the room with a disappointed Oliver standing there. At the Planet Lois tries to avoid Clark but he finally corners her asking about the fact she said she loved him and Lois says she had slipped the lie detector contact off of her finger before she answered and that's why he didn't get shocked. Then she says with the fact Clark's known for being so honest it's a good thing he didn't have to answer the question about her. She walks away leaving Clark in the elevator and his expression and Lois' shows that the dynamic between them has changed with what they went through. As times passes their bond will grow ever stronger and their lives together ever better.

Our Story:
At the Isis Foundation Chloe is holding her first encounter group with meteor-infected young people. One young lady named Mary has the ability to control electricity and she's skeptical that this meeting will help, but Chloe tells them that such meetings are the beginning of them trying to assimilate into society and be accepted. The meeting ends and Mary is walking to her scooter parked in a dark alley so she uses her power to turn a light on. As she walks though a wraith-like shadow follows her streaking from spot to spot barely visible. As she looks to find whoever is following her, suddenly she is knocked down and dragged feet first into darkness screaming. The only sounds after that are of bones cracking and animal-like growls coming from the dark! Chloe is visiting Clark at his desk at the Daily Planet and Clark is so intent listening to the Police band broadcasts that he's ignoring her. She suggests they get together some other time and Clark bids her goodnight. Then he hears over the radio of a jewelry store robbery in progress and Clark disappears from his desk in a red blur. The jewelry store clerk is begging for mercy but the robber cocks his gun about to shoot the hapless man when Clark speeds into the store knocking the criminal straight out a plate glass window. Then we hear the radio saying there's a disturbance in an alleyway and we see two young toughs terrorizing a little boy for money. They are about to beat the boy when Clark speeds into the scene knocking them helpless and leaving a very relieved little boy in his wake.
The next call is for trouble at the Ace of Clubs nightclub and Clark speeds up in front of the building and using his super-hearing he detects screams and the sounds of breaking bones. He crouches down and with a mighty leap he jumps up onto the balcony of the trendy nightclub. But all that's left in the nightclub is massive damage and moaning victims in what now looks like a room where a bomb exploded. Clark works his way through the wreckage and finds Davis Bloome the paramedic lying under debris covered in blood. He helps as emergency personnel arrive and start tending to the victims and Davis is placed on a stretcher. He starts to wake up and he tells Clark he has no memory of what happened and then he gets off the stretcher and starts to leave. Clark tells him to get treatment but he insists he's all right and staggers away. Then Clark turns and is surprised to see the Martian Manhunter is standing there and he introduces himself as Detective John Jones of the Metropolis Police. He says this is the best way to help people as he still has not regained his powers and when Clark asks how he got the job he cryptically answers he has many sources. Then he tells Clark he's been covering for him as Clark's exploits as a "mysterious savior" are starting to spread. Clark is adamant he must help as many people as possible and John warns him that he can't stay hidden forever at the rate he's going.
Clark returns to the Planet where he meets Jimmy who tells him he's gathering evidence about the mysterious Good Samaritan who's been reported around town. He sees Clark is holding a Police evidence bag with a phone in it and when he asks Clark about it he says that he's hoping it recorded what ever happened at the club. They hook it up to a computer and start to play back its latest recording which starts out peacefully as a birthday party but then the camera-phone gets dropped and we see people flying through the air and the room being literally torn apart but whose doing it can't be seen. Clark goes to see Chloe and he tells her of the attack and asks for the attendance list of her meeting as he feels they are potential suspects. Chloe is angry that Clark wants private information and feels he's being insensitive to her wards at the foundation and she refuses to cooperate. Davis has returned to Metropolis General Hospital he staggers into the shower to wash and examine his injuries. But as the blood washes off of him he realizes that he is unharmed without a mark on him and all the blood on him is from victims, and he sinks to the shower floor in despair as he wonders what is going on. He dresses and goes into a patient treatment area and he takes a blood sample from himself. As he's leaving Jimmy Olsen comes in asking him if he could ride along with him on his ambulance shift as the only clue he's heard about the club massacre is that the attacker had bony eyebrows. Davis tries to talk Jimmy out of it but when Jimmy asks him to do the favor as he's Chloe's fiancé, Davis relents.
John Jones is at the Planet and Clark gives him a list of Chloe's meteor-infected people that he obtained by super-speed reading it. John tells Clark his behavior is starting to verge on obsessive since he's spending every waking moment trying to save people but Clark tells him he won't stop trying. John tells Clark that there have been five similar murders and Clark comments he's been studying them and all the victims died from internal bleeding after their bones were literally crushed. Then John surprises Clark by telling him that one paramedic has been the first one at every one of the murder scenes and his name is Davis Bloome. Davis at that moment is in the morgue scraping under one of the victims fingernails for material caught there and he puts it into a Petri dish as Chloe enters the room. She tells him she's there about the young lady who was killed and she needs to eliminate her Isis Foundations kids as suspects. Davis tells her he doesn't think it was one of the encounter group members who killed the girl; he thinks that he is the berserk killer in Metropolis! They both go back to the Foundation where Davis explains that ever since he was a child being bounced from one foster home to another he's suffered from occasional blackouts but now they are happening a lot. Chloe refuses to believe that Davis is a murderer and he tells her he feels as if there is a great darkness inside him trying to get out.
She visits the murder scene where the other people in the group have gathered at a memorial for the young girl and they tell Chloe that someone has given their names to the police as they've all been questioned and Chloe insists she wouldn't do such a thing. Later at the hospital Clark confronts Davis about his having pictures of all the murder victims in a folder and Davis tells Clark that he was also at every one of the murder scenes when Davis was and is as likely a suspect as he is. Clark returns to the Planet where Chloe arrives to confront him about copying the group's name list and they quarrel about betraying each other until Clark shows test results that he took from Davis. He asks Chloe to use her Brainiac-enhanced mental abilities to examine the test results and Chloe tells Clark the test shows it was Davis's skin under the murder victim's fingernails! Jimmy and Davis are starting their shift on ambulance duty when Davis gets a call and they head to the scene which is behind a building and he tells Jimmy to wait by the rig. Jimmy hears a yell followed by the sound of something falling so he goes to see what's going on. Chloe and Clark are trying to close in on the killer by working together and they're following the ambulance over the radio when they hear Jimmy calling for help about a monster and Clark speeds to the scene. He arrives and Davis staggers towards him obviously hurt and then a creature that seems to made of shadow grabs Davis and throws him across the alley.
Jimmy runs up telling Clark that it seems to be some sort of shadow that's attacking them and the creature then hurls Jimmy off to the side. The wraith goes after yet another victim in the alley but Clark's super-vision has finally found the elusive killer and he throws a tire he grabs from a pile and it knocks the creature out and it is revealed to be Randy, a member of Chloe's encounter group! The next day Clark sees Chloe and apologizes for crossing the line by stealing information from her and she's sorry also for their quarrel. She tells Clark that she's never been able to save even one of the hundreds of meteor-infected persons she's profiled and Clark worries that someday she may trust someone who could harm her. Chloe meets Davis later and he thanks her for believing in him and he hopes that she cares for him as he does for her. Chloe tells him she did it to help him and that's all it was about and the moment between them becomes awkward until Chloe tells him that they shouldn't see each other for a while and she leaves. John Jones and Clark discuss the fact that they were wrong about Davis and then John warns Clark that he's getting reckless using his powers in public and with millions of people in Metropolis it's only a matter of time before he's found out. Then Jimmy arrives and he tells them he's convinced that a mystery hero is in town and John tells him to call him when he comes up with proof of that and Jimmy vows he will find the hidden hero.
The killer Randy is locked up with power-dampening handcuffs when an aide of Tess Mercer comes to visit him offering him work with people like himself. Randy isn't interested so she then tells him she has proof that he isn't the real killer and he's just a copycat mimicking the murders for the sick notoriety it brings. She tells him that a nun who was killed had an onyx crucifix torn from her rosary beads and she knows he doesn't have the crucifix. Then we see Davis walking up to and getting into his ambulance, and hanging from the rear-view mirror is the very crucifix we just heard about. Something is very wrong with Davis Bloome, and it's only a matter of time until whatever that is surfaces again.

Our Story:
Jimmy has invited Lois to dinner in the hope of convincing her of his theory that there is a mysterious "savior" who is performing live-saving acts all over Metropolis. He tells Lois that Clark will be joining them for dinner as he feels Clark will be willing to write the story even if Lois in unconvinced about this person's existence. As they walk a mugger runs up and knocks Jimmy down and then he turns on Lois who decides to fight the man. She gamely holds him off for a few seconds and pulls his mask off telling Jimmy to take a picture of the man. As Jimmy struggles to gather his wits, from down the street Clark sees the crime unfolding. Lois is knocked into the path of an oncoming vehicle and Clark super-speed races over to the scene and with a tap of his hand sends the mugger flying and then he grabs Lois just as Jimmy finally raises his camera for a picture. The camera flashes and Clark sees the picture being taken but he must get Lois to safety which he does by depositing her on the opposite curb. Lois thinks she knocked the mugger down with her final effort, but when Jimmy looks at the shot he's taken he realizes that he's just gotten the first picture of the savior of Metropolis!
The next day Clark nervously enters the Daily Planet and Jimmy eagerly shows him the photo he took last night. Clark is relieved to find that all that can be seen in the picture is a red and blue blur which seems to be carrying Lois to safety and he knows that for now his identity is safe. Clark naturally plays the skeptic and tells Jimmy that the blur is just a camera anomaly and insists that no person could move at such a high speed. But Jimmy won't be deterred and he tells Clark that Tess Mercer has become interested in the story and she wants Clark to write it to accompany the picture for publication. A handsome young man named Sebastian Kane walks into the Daily Planet and up to Lois and tells her he's the new city reporter and he's hoping that Lois will go to dinner with him and help him get acquainted with Metropolis. But when they shake hands Sebastian it seems has an ability which enables him to see the memories of the person he's in contact with and he sees the past few minutes of Lois' life. Lois agrees to go to dinner with Sebastian but when he leaves she shows an air of disquiet concerning the young man she can't pin down. Sebastian visits Tess Mercer and he tells her he needs more time in contact with Lois to find out if she stole the blue pentagonal crystal that was stolen from Tess a few weeks ago. We know that the crystal is actually a Kryptonian computer which was all that was found when Lex Luthor disappeared at the former site of the Fortress of Solitude, but Tess merely considers it the best lead in finding the missing Lex.
She reminds Sebastian she is responsible for him being released from the Black Creek facility which housed meteor-infected people that Luthorcorp was researching. She says that she will tell the police of the young women Sebastian killed using his power, although he claims that was because he hadn't yet learned to control his power. But all Tess cares about is regaining possession of the crystal and she reminds the young man she holds his freedom in her hands. Clark goes to see Chloe to enlist her help in deleting the photo that Jimmy took but she tells Clark that she thinks that it's time for people in Metropolis to find out there is a force for good among them. She tells Clark that Jimmy has given Clark the chance to create an alias for himself that would preserve his real identity and enable him to operate freely. Clark insists that if he is found out it will endanger himself and those he cares about but Chloe says that the picture reveals nothing about Clark Kent but it gives the world something it needs very badly right now, a hero. Clark then goes to see Tess Mercer telling her that his writing the story would be nothing but tabloid journalism and Tess says he's off the story but Jimmy is researching who the person in the photo could be and when he finds out who it is, then it will make big news. Clark speeds into Chloe and Jimmy's apartment looking for the troubling photo but he's forgotten that Lois stays there too and she tells him about her date with Sebastian. Clark's jealous and Lois purposely teases him about it until Sebastian knocks on the door.
When they're introduced Sebastian tries to shake hands with Clark but Lois intervenes by pushing Clark out the door. Clark goes home and tries removing any red and blue garments from his wardrobe but he's interrupted by Jimmy dropping in. Jimmy shows Clark that his research has shown that mysterious rescues like the ones in Metropolis actually started years ago in Smallville and then seemingly migrated to the big city when Clark and Chloe went there. As he says the words Jimmy sees a nearby picture of Clark in his standard red and blues and suddenly all the dots connect in his mind. He tells Clark that he now sees that Chloe's known Clark's secret all these years and he realizes that Clark is the mystery hero he's been searching for! Clark puts Jimmy's conclusions off by claiming there are chores he has to do and Jimmy leaves. Clark then speeds to the Isis Foundation in Metropolis where Chloe's Brainiac-enhanced mental skills have just crashed her computers. Clark tells Chloe of Jimmy's discovery about him and asks for her help in dissuading Jimmy about what he's discovered. Then Jimmy arrives and seeing Clark has gotten there ahead of him he reasons that Clark has sped there and that Chloe has indeed kept Clark's secret for years. They both deny Jimmy's story but Jimmy tells them that their protestations simply show him that he'll have to prove his conclusions. Clark then speeds to see Oliver Queen who's sitting in his private jet with a drink in hand and a bevy of beautiful ladies around him and he tells Clark he's jetting to Aruba for a holiday. Clark insists on a private conversation and the ladies excuse themselves and he tells Oliver of Jimmy's discovery and asks for his help. He tells Oliver he's sorry he kept the fact that he knew Lex Luthor's father Lionel had Oliver's parents killed but he asks for his help to save Jimmy from the same kind of outcome.
Oliver refuses and tells Clark that maybe the exposure of his secret will force him to step up into the responsibilities his powers imply. Clark retorts that Oliver's practically forsaken his role as the Green Arrow and now he's constantly found with a drink in his hand being irresponsible himself. He again asks for Oliver's help for Jimmy's sake if not his own so that no one will suffer the consequences of knowing his secret. Lois and Sebastian are having dinner at the Ace of Clubs nightspot and Lois is pumping Sebastian for information about his past as she thinks she saw him during her adventure with Clark rescuing Chloe from the Black Creek research center for meteor-enhanced people. Under the pretense of palm-reading Sebastian holds Lois' hand and discovers that she didn't take the missing blue crystal but she does remember him being a prisoner in Black Creek due to the flash-drive she stole from Tess Mercer with the facility's inmate's files on it. Tess Mercer summons Sebastian out to her car where he tells her about Lois being innocent of the crystal's theft but as she knows his secret he feels he must kill her to protect himself. He leaves and Tess calls an aide to tell them to now concentrate on Jimmy Olsen as their next "person of interest" in the matter of re-attaining the crystal. Sebastian drops Lois off at her apartment and when she refuses his request for a nightcap, he waits until she opens her door and shoves her to the ground while pulling a pistol on her and insisting she give him the flash-drive she stole.
Clark has arranged to meet Jimmy and at precisely 10PM he will cross a street with him and Chloe will drive her car towards them pretending to try and hit them. Then Oliver, who's waiting on a nearby rooftop, will swoop down and "save" them so Jimmy will be convinced Clark isn't the hero he suspects he is. Meanwhile Lois has given Sebastian the flash-drive telling him she can be trusted with his secret. But when Sebastian says that being locked up for fours years has prevented him from being able to trust anyone and he must kill her, Lois fights for her life with every fighting skill she's picked up in her army-brat past. As they struggle Lois manages to get out her cell-phone and she calls Clark with the simple message of, "Clark, help!" and when Clark hears her plea for help he pushes Jimmy across the street faster then planned stopping his plan with Oliver and Chloe from taking place. He tells Jimmy he must make a phone call and ducks into a back alley. He super-speeds into Lois' apartment and grabs Sebastian's hand in his steely grip and then shoves him 10 feet across the room into a wall knocking him out, then he speeds back for Metropolis before Lois can see his rescue of her. Tess Mercer's "mugger" meantime has again accosted Jimmy and Oliver knows this wasn't planned. At gunpoint Jimmy is led towards a car and Oliver shoots a crossbow bolt with a line attached to a nearby flag pole then he rides the lines down towards Jimmy's attacker with a huge red cape flowing from his shoulders. He knocks Jimmy's attacker out with his feet and as the mugger's accomplice takes off Oliver then swoops away.
Clark reappears and he asks Jimmy what happened and Jimmy insists it was Clark who just saved him but Clark points to a nearby rooftop and says, "No, it was him", and the sight of a man in a red cape that's flowing in the breeze amazes not only Jimmy, but onlookers all over the street who stop to marvel at the caped hero. Clark sees the people's reaction to the sight of a caped hero in their midst and he can't help but also see that the hero's appearance has made such a huge and positive impression. Clark enters the newsroom of the Daily Planet the next day to see the blurred picture of him on the front page and Jimmy Olsen's story headline stating, "Faster then a speeding bullet!" The room is buzzing with the news of a hero in town and everyone's talking about Clark, even if they don't know it's him. Jimmy comes up and apologizes for his misconception of Clark being the mysterious hero but he tells Clark that a big part of the reason he believed it was Clark is because he's a man that friend or stranger can depend upon for help. Clark sees Lois and tells her she should have told him she was working to find out Sebastian's real story and when she says she kept it from him for his own protection; Clark realizes her motives were the same as his in this whole affair. Lois congratulates Jimmy and proclaims she's now a believer in Metropolis's new red and blue mystery hero. Then she tells Clark her new mission in life is to not only find this superhero but to land the first exclusive interview with him. At this pronouncement Clark feels a whole new level of trepidation as he's fully aware of Lois's determination in these matters.
Clark drops in on Oliver later and he tells him that he now feels that perhaps his destiny is to not only save people from harm, but to inspire them with hope. When Oliver hears that he tells Clark he knew he'd catch on to that idea someday and that for himself he realizes that after saving Jimmy he's re-discovered that his real purpose and identity is that of the Green Arrow, not a billionaire playboy or corporate titan. Clark's happy to hear that but he advises Oliver to never wear the red cape again as it looked ridiculous and he says he'd never wear a red cape in this lifetime. Sebastian's in a hospital bed and Chloe visits him saying she was also a Black Creek inmate and he says that he was able to scan Clark when he grabbed his hand and now knows all too much about him. At that Chloe says that the real danger to Sebastian's power is that with an overload of information his brain would practically shut down and she removes her gloves and grabs his hand. All her Brainiac-enhanced knowledge floods into the hapless man and finally his brain does indeed overload and literally shuts down. As Chloe leaves the hospital and emergency personnel run into Sebastian's room, we realize that this level of ruthlessness from Chloe is not normal and can only foretell serious trouble in the near future.

Our Story:
Clark comes downstairs at the farmhouse in the morning to see Lois who announces she's decided to take Clark up on his previous offer and she's moving in with him. Then she hands him a package she found on the front porch addressed to him and Clark notes there's no return address on the box. He opens it to find to his surprise it's the missing blue pentagonal crystal which is actually a Kryptonian computer found at the site of the destroyed Fortress of Solitude and Clark hopes it will rebuild the Fortress for him. He tells Lois he doesn't know what the object is and suddenly it starts to glow brighter and brighter and objects in the room start to shake. Clark tells Lois to run but she doesn't, instead she grabs Clark and tells him to drop the shining crystal. But time runs out and Clark and Lois are trapped inside a crystalline cell and the object flies into space and disappears! Later Chloe enters the farmhouse with more of Lois' boxed possessions to only find it deserted. She sees the broken window that Clark and Lois left through and then she spots the blue crystal on the floor and puts it in her pocketbook and seconds later Tess Mercer appears in the room. Tess asks about the broken window and Chloe says that a large bird flew through it breaking it which Tess doesn't believe.
Tess wants to know where the crystal is and Chloe tells her it's certainly not on the Kent farm and Tess doesn't believe that either. She says a frequency generator of hers detected the crystal in the very room where they now stand but Chloe won't budge in her story and Tess warns her that she'll endanger herself by protecting Clark. When Clark awakens he finds himself in the barren landscape he knows as the Phantom Zone which served as an other-dimensional prison for the criminals of the destroyed planet Krypton. Clark sees Lois lying in a nearby field and he runs to her and she wakes up to see a sky with two blue suns and she's convinced that they've been abducted by aliens. Chloe's back at the Isis Foundation and she's unsuccessfully trying to reach Oliver Queen who we know is secretly the Green Arrow. Davis Bloome the paramedic enters the room and tells Chloe he's had no luck in finding his birth parents. He says his blackouts are getting worse and he also can find no record of the first three years of his life and he's hoping Chloe can help and he gives her a file about himself. Back in the Phantom Zone Clark is leading Lois across the alien land telling her they must keep moving for their safety. Then Lois sees the corpse of a creature that's not quite human and she gets badly frightened and starts to panic until Clark calms her down saying they must watch each other's back.
As they walk a figure dressed in ragged clothing jumps down knocking Lois out and turning on Clark with a sharp knife which Clark stops by grabbing his attacker's wrist. Then he sees the bracelet on the wrist he's grabbed has an "S" inside a pentagonal field and he knows that their attacker is his cousin Kara. He says her name and she takes her headdress off and says Clark's Kryptonian name of Kal-El and they embrace at this strange reunion. Clark says they must find a portal to escape the Zone and Kara says her father Zor-El left one for her but she hasn't used it for fear that "Zoners", as she calls the wraith-like criminals, would follow her back to Earth as they once did when Clark escaped the Zone. Kara says they can't leave but Clark insists that he'll watch the portal gate and Lois will be sent back to Earth. Lois wakes up and thinks that Kara is another alien abduction victim and no one says differently. Chloe finally finds Oliver in his jet which has just returned to the U.S.A. and she tells him of Clark and Lois' disappearance. She shows him the Kryptonian crystal and says if he can steal the frequency generator she can then hopefully access the crystal and use it to bring Lois and Clark home. Oliver is very nervous about any alien technology but when Chloe tells him that Tess has the generator he gladly agrees to steal from her. Clark, Lois, and Kara head for the cave which has the portal to Earth and Lois tells Clark she doesn't want to leave him but Kara says Clark will guard the gate while Lois enters it.
Kara and Lois enter the cave and they approach an altar which has a stone into which has been carved a pentagonal shield with an "S" in it. Kara cuts her palm and says her blood will activate the gate and she starts to do that when they hear Clark fighting off "Zoners" outside but Kara won't let Lois leave the cave. The inter-dimensional portal opens and Lois won't leave without Clark but Kara shoves her through the gate. Then a Phantom flies into the cave and attacks Kara knocking her aside and then it heads for the gate. Lois wakes up on a set of railroad tracks and nervously calls for Clark but then the Phantom flies up from behind and enters Lois' body taking possession of it! Tess Mercer enters the Daily Planet newsroom to see Lois scanning files and an unconscious employee on the floor next to her. She asks Lois what she's doing and the Phantom says she's looking for her son who was fathered by General Zod. She says he came to Earth as genetic material that was attached to the Kryptonian spacecraft carrying the baby Kal-El. Tess tells her that she's looking for the Kryptonian crystal that was stolen from her and she could help. But the female Phantom knows Tess is just trying to use her and she tells Tess she's worthless to her and then she super-speeds out of the room leaving a frightened Tess behind.
Clark staggers into the cave bloody and beaten to find Kara in the same shape but she's trapped under broken columns where the wraith knocked her. She tells Clark a wraith followed Lois through the portal and she begs Clark to leave before more prisoners arrive but Clark refuses. Back on Earth Chloe gets a text message from Oliver that says, "To Watchtower: Approaching target." She turns to see Lois standing there but as she hugs her cousin she senses something's wrong. The wraith says to tell her all she knows about the Kryptonian spacecraft and Chloe asks who she really is. The wraith says her name is Faora, wife of Zod, and she's occupied Lois' body to use. Chloe tries to run when she hears the name of Zod but Faora easily speeds in front of her. Faora demands Chloe tell her where her son is and then she grabs her neck and lifts Chloe in the air telling her to speak. Chloe can't breath and in her struggle she drops the file Davis Bloome gave her earlier and when Faora sees Davis's picture she thanks Chloe then drops her and speeds from the room. As the Green Arrow, Oliver has entered Lex's mansion and he finds the box containing the Frequency Generator which looks like two interlocking rings. But then Tess comes from behind and pulls a gun on the Green Arrow demanding he tell her what he knows about the crystal. The Green Arrow waits until Tess steps towards him and then he grabs one of his crossbow bolts from its quiver and throws it into Tess' shoulder. Tess immediately collapses as the Green Arrow catches her and then puts her on a nearby couch telling her the paralysis she's experiencing will wear off shortly.
Faora enters the Metropolis General Hospital's emergency room and smiles when she sees Davis Bloome helping an injured child. A nurse takes the young boy away and Faora asks Davis what is he doing helping people? She then asks if Davis created all the "human carnage" she sees and then embraces him telling him that "All's well. Mother is here" making Davis think Lois is the one who's not well. Oliver has delivered the Frequency Generator to Chloe who inserts the crystal in the rings while explaining to Oliver that the Phantom Zone is the equivalent of an alien Alcatraz. The rings start to spin and strange energies manifest in the room and then as the generator spins faster and faster Chloe's eyes turn completely white and she starts to bleed from the nose. Oliver tries to stop Chloe but she simply shoves him twenty feet across the room knocking him out. Clark can't free Kara from the wreckage in the cave and she smears her blood on his hand telling him to use it to open the portal but Clark tells her she's his family and makes him feel like he belongs somewhere. Then the portal opened by Chloe appears above Clark and starts to pull him back to Earth but Clark struggles not to leave Kara behind. He tells Kara to grab his hand and with tears in his eyes he tells her he won't leave her to die there and Kara grabs out and clasps Clark's hand in hers. In a burst of energy the two are transported to the Isis Foundation where Chloe turns around to see them on the floor, their wounds already healing as their powers become active here on Earth. Chloe asks if the name Faora is familiar to them and Kara says she's Zod's wife and Chloe warns Clark she has all his abilities and none of his humanity.
Clark tells Kara to contact John Jones, the Martian Manhunter who is Clark's mentor and protector, and get his crystal while he'll handle Lois. Faora is standing in a quiet room where Davis has taken her and she tells Davis he doesn't recognize her and he looks just like his father. Davis thinks Lois has taken some kind of drug and starts to examine her but Faora stops him cold with the statement that he experiences blackouts losing hours at a time. She tells him his body is still evolving and now Davis is getting scared at her words. She says that she and Zod couldn't have children so they created him and sent his genetic material here to Earth and that material contains parts of Krypton's most powerful life forms and in time he will evolve to become Earth's ultimate destroyer. She says it's her family's destiny to rule our planet and that he simply isn't ready yet to fulfill the legacy of his parents. Then she calmly rips one of the bars off a bed that's used to keep patients from falling out of it. She then takes the bar and shoves it straight through Davis and he falls to the floor dying as Faora tells him "That which kills you makes you stronger". She says she'll be back for him when he's ready and walks out leaving him dying on the floor. In the hallway Clark speeds up to her and Faora tells him that Zod may be gone, but their creation will destroy his world.
Clark tries to tell Lois to resist Faora but she mocks him saying how his parents didn't come to him like she's come to her son. Then she scoffs at the fact that Clark has feelings for the "creature" she's using and she tells Kal-El he's just like his father. Then she shoves Clark down the hall and straight through the wall and window and he falls to the parking lot where he demolishes a truck with his invulnerable body. Faora leaps down on top of Clark choking him by the neck while Clark begs Lois to stop with Faora saying Lois can't hear him. Kara runs up and she uses the crystal John Jones gave her and it stabs into Lois' body with a scarlet beam and pulls the wraith Faora from Lois and traps it inside the crystal. Davis has died in a pool of his own blood and suddenly his eyes shoot open and somehow Davis has returned from his own death! The next day in the newsroom Lois enters telling Clark that Tess Mercer just gave her a raise. Lois says she passed out when she touched the crystal in Clark's house and she thinks she dreamt the whole thing and Clark says she must have hallucinated after passing out from low blood sugar. Then Lois tells Clark with her new raise she can afford her own place and she won't be moving in with him after all. Then Clark is summoned before Tess Mercer who tells him that Lois told her about a Kryptonian spacecraft and a baby named Kal-El. Clark says Lois was hallucinating when she spoke to Tess and Tess retorts that she stopped by Clark's farm and obtained a boot print of his from the muddy driveway and it matches the one found in the arctic where Lex vanished.
Clark says that a lot of people own work boots and he wasn't in the arctic and that's all he'll say about the matter. Tess tells Clark she hopes she can learn to trust him and she wants to learn why Lex Luthor felt he couldn't trust Clark and then eventually the truth will come out. That night at the Kent farm Clark enters the house to find Oliver Queen waiting for him and Clark thanks him for helping him get back to Earth. Oliver tells Clark about Chloe's operating the crystal and the white eyes and bleeding nose and Clark tells him that Brainiac infected Chloe when he attacked her. Oliver tells Clark that Chloe being involved in his affairs is putting her in great danger and Clark should do something about that very soon. Later Kara visits Clark in his barn loft and he tells her that since the crystal sent him and Lois to the Phantom Zone he feels he can't risk using it to restore the Fortress of Solitude. Kara tells Clark he should trust Lois with his secrets as she's tough and strong and Kara thinks Clark feels the same way about her. Then Kara tells Clark that while in the Phantom Zone she heard rumors that the Kryptonian city of Kandor where she's from somehow survived the destruction of Krypton and now she intends to try and find it and that way she can save their bloodline.
Clark wants to go with her but she says he was raised among humans to inspire them and give them hope and her destiny is on a different path. Clark hugs his cousin and tells her he'll miss her and she shows him her pentagonal necklace charm with the "S" inside it. She says he'll always be close to her heart, and then she flies out of the barn and streaks into space as Clark watches her leave. Back in Metropolis Davis Bloome is now somehow alive and hasn't got a mark on him where the bar was rammed through him. He enters a room in the hospital and he picks up a huge knife and closing his eyes he rams the knife into his chest with all his strength, but the knife shatters into pieces on his chest. He is amazed at the fact he has somehow gained a steel hard body and realizes he's changed as a result of Faora killing him. The real question is what is the son of Zod and Faora changing into?

Our Story:
Jimmy brings Chloe breakfast in bed telling her how happy he is they'll be getting married in one week. But when he mentions that they haven't heard back from Lana about whether she's attending or not Jimmy is worried when Chloe doesn't seem to remember who Lana is. Jimmy then mentions how Chloe's memory is getting spotty lately and she says it's just pre-wedding jitters. Jimmy tries to reassure Chloe by saying that the wedding will just be an expanded version of their engagement party, and Chloe immediately flashes back to that night as she and Jimmy were dancing. But as they dance, Chloe sees flashes in her field of vision as people and objects that were in the room that night disappear one by one! Then when she seemingly snaps out of it and Jimmy tells her she blanked out for a few seconds, Chloe jumps up from the bed and tells Jimmy she doesn't know him and he should leave her apartment at once. When he tells Chloe he's Jimmy and he's her fiancé, she insists she'd know her own fiancé and she's never seen him before in her life! Jimmy runs to the Kent farm telling Clark how upset he is over what just happened and asks Clark's help in getting Chloe to a doctor.
But Chloe has already gone to Metropolis General Hospital and telling a nurse she's a student researching memory loss she heads for the wing where the data is and runs into Davis Bloome the paramedic. She apologizes to Davis for not looking into his background as she promised and Davis tells her he's no longer interested in his past. Then he says he must talk with Chloe about another subject and she begs off citing a pressing problem of her own. Davis asks if all is well between Chloe and Jimmy and she again doesn't recognize the name but fakes knowing Jimmy and leaves on an elevator. Later at the Isis Foundation Clark finds Chloe and asks after her concerning her memory and she talks about Jimmy but forgets to include the fact that he's her fiancé. Clark walks over to the bookcase concealing Chloe's data room and uses his great strength to force the doors open and he finds the walls covered in pictures and files of all of Chloe's friends and associates. She admits she's having troubles lately due to wedding worries but she uses the information Clark sees to "refresh" her memory. Clark's very worried and Chloe now says that he's about the only person she still recalls well. Clark tells her they both know what's wrong and Chloe sadly nods yes and says that Brainiac's taking over her mind!
Jimmy opens his apartment door to find Davis Bloome there and he enters and asks Jimmy if Chloe's all right and Jimmy says she's fine. Then Davis asks Jimmy if he loves Chloe and Jimmy says with all of his heart and Davis tells Jimmy he can't make it to their wedding and he asks Jimmy to take care of Chloe as she's an amazing girl. Clark takes Chloe to his barn loft and she tells him every time she tries to remember a friend all she sees are mysterious Kryptonian symbols in her mind's eye. She draws the symbol she sees the most and Clark tells her it's the symbol for "doom", and he knows they have to stop what's happening to her at once. Clark tells Chloe he'll use the blue pentagonal Kryptonian crystal someone anonymously sent him to rebuild the Fortress of Solitude and Jor-El will then restore her memory. Chloe's skeptical but Clark insists citing the fact that everyone who knows his secrets is either dead or has now gone away and he must stop that from happening to her. Chloe blacks out in front of Clark and her mind returns to the night she saw him catch a car flying through the air like a toy and then she snaps out of it. She tells Clark the more she thinks about someone the less she remembers and then she says she has no memory of that night other then seeing Clark in the road and she thinks he's an ordinary person!
Chloe has forgotten all of Clark's secrets about his abilities and he asks her to wait there until he returns and he super-speeds from the room startling her. He races to the Arctic and uses the crystal to rebuild the Fortress and once more its crystalline construction stands out on the frozen land like some futuristic vision. While Clark's gone Jimmy arrives at the barn with pictures to help jog Chloe's memory and she says she knows him now but when he hugs her she admits she really hardly remembers anyone but Clark now. That upsets Jimmy more and he insists she comes with him to a doctor and she agrees to trust him and goes with him. Clark confronts Jor-El at the Fortress and tells him he now knows he must do more to truly protect those around him and asks for his father's trust and tells him of Brainiac's attack on Chloe. Jor-El tells his son he has grown much in his trials and he is pleased with him but anything they do to help Chloe may invoke Brainiac in some way and he must be willing to take that risk. Chloe at that moment is in the hospital where a doctor's putting her into a M.R.I. scanning machine and he tells Chloe the procedure won't take long. But when he starts the machine all he sees on his monitors is strange symbols that we recognize as more Kryptonian code and in Chloe's mind she's experiencing flashing memories of when she and Clark were young teenagers and she had entered his barn loft for the first time. Young Chloe and Clark discover they both share a love of reading and when Chloe laments a favorite book she lost in moving to Smallville, Clark super-speeds from the barn and back in an instant to bring her the very book she misses called "Tales of the Weird and Unexplained."
Chloe kisses her newfound friend in gratitude but as she does objects in the barn and even parts of the barn disappear as they're seemingly sucked straight into the air and replaced by even more Kryptonian symbols. She grabs Clark's hand saying she has to quickly pull him into another shared memory and now they're back as their present-day selves and in the Daily Planet newsroom. But then that place is snatched away as if it's collapsing into a black hole and finally Clark is pulled out of sight. All around Chloe now is nothing but green flashing symbols and the one that stands for "doom" surrounds Chloe like a huge augur of danger to come. Then all's quiet as the newsroom is emptied and a man is approaching Chloe from the shadows. It is Davis Bloome and he takes Chloe's hand and causes a spark of Kryptonian code to flash between them. Then Chloe comes awake to reality again and the doctor is pulling Chloe out of the M.R.I. machine saying it went haywire when it was turned on. He asks Chloe what she remembers and she tells him all she can recall is Davis and she must find him at once! Chloe runs from the hospital to find Davis just arriving and she runs into his arms telling him he's the only thing she remembers and he tells her he'll take care of her. Chloe says he's the only person she can trust now and Davis vows he'll always be there for her as the two embrace. Clark enters Chloe and Jimmy's apartment and Jimmy tells Clark that Chloe's gone missing from the hospital and Clark says they'll both try to find her.
He tells Jimmy to contact Detective John Jones of the Metropolis Police Department about the missing Chloe while he looks for her in the streets of the city. They leave the apartment but downstairs they find Davis Bloome bringing Chloe into the building. Chloe panics insisting she doesn't know Clark and Jimmy and then Davis takes out a needle and quickly injects Chloe rendering her unconscious. Davis tells them he bought the sedative in case Chloe got worse and Jimmy thanks him for bringing her there. Davis leaves and Clark tells Jimmy to get some things of Chloe's as they're taking her to the hospital. But when Jimmy runs up the stairs Clark tenderly lifts Chloe in his arms and races to the Fortress of Solitude with her. Jor-El tells Clark this is why he warned him about anyone knowing his secrets and Clark asks his father to restore all of Chloe's memories except those concerning his abilities and origins thus making her life a safer one. Jor-El says it will be done and the crystalline structure of the Fortress glows with energy as does the dais the unconscious Chloe lies on. Clark kneels at Chloe's side telling her that she has been his staunchest ally for years and he's sorry but the best way to protect her now is to let her go. But as the alien technology of the Fortress hums with power, unseen to Clark a black viscous liquid runs out the Chloe's ear and is absorbed into the floor as if by a sponge.
The next we see of Chloe, she and Jimmy are back together in their apartment finishing up seating charts for their wedding as Jimmy remarks over her miraculous recovery. Clark enters and Chloe tells them both she has to run into Metropolis to pay the florist. And when she tells Jimmy that Clark will need help carrying the tables to set up for the ceremony, Clark knows she remembers none of the amazing things he has done or can do. When Chloe goes outside she's met by Davis who tells her the real reason he can't go to her wedding is that he feels she's marrying the wrong man. He says that he was the final and only one she remembered during this ordeal and he thinks she feels the connection between them as strongly as he does. Then they actually kiss for a moment until Chloe breaks it off and he tells her he'll wait forever for her if need be and she knows where to find him. Clark returns to the Fortress where Jor-El tells him he's proud of his son for the difficult choice he made in this matter. Clark tells his father about the symbol for doom that Chloe kept seeing and Jor-El says that symbol represents the ultimate destroyer who is a Kryptonian creature who was bred for a single purpose, to kill. The creature is virtually unstoppable and adapts and evolves in response to any attack and it seems to have now made its way to Earth. Clark remarks that Brainiac was using Chloe as a vessel to contact the creature and he vows to stop it as he has all threats that have come before him.
Jor-El tells Clark that he is there for him as well and for that Clark thanks Jor-El, calling him "father" for the first time with the true respect of a son. After Clark speeds out of the Fortress though, Jor-El's voice fades and is replaced by the voice of the living Kryptonian computer Brainiac. The black liquid we saw exit Chloe reappears and spreads from the crystalline control console until it permeates the entire Fortress turning the structure dark black. Brainiac tells Jor-El his son will fail as a new age of power and strength is born on Earth and the house of El will fall. And the last thing we hear Brainiac say is "Doomsday is coming!"

Co-Starring: Lana Lang: Kristen Kruek
Davis Bloome: Sam Witwer
Clark Kent: Tom Welling
Lois Lane: Erica Durance
Jimmy Olsen: Aaron Ashmore
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow: Justin Hartley
Chloe Sullivan: Allison Mack

Our Story:
Our story opens with the video of Chloe and Jimmy's marriage and it's before the ceremony and Clark and Lois are recording their personal sentiments for the couple they both love. Then the tape jumps to the moment where in the decorated Kent barn the beautiful bride comes down the loft steps to the admiration of her anxious fiancŽ and the guests. Clark escorts Chloe to the altar and as with all brides Chloe is very beautiful and then the tape again jumps, this time to the moment the two are pronounced husband and wife and we see them kiss as a married couple for the first time. Another rough edit later Lois is introducing the couple formally to their guests and they are all smiles as they approach the wedding cake and cut the first slice together. But then there is a huge thud from the roof as something lands on it as Chloe wonders what it was. The answer comes seconds later as in the rear of the barn the roof collapses and something huge and menacing stalks from the shadows of the now darkened barn. Screams of terror erupt as guests try to flee before the onslaught of the huge creature smashing the place to pieces and guests fly through the air as they're pummeled by the invader. Then the camera is dropped and the next thing we see is Jimmy lying on the ground as Chloe begs him to hang on but then the beast strides up to Chloe and then we see a huge pair of spiked legs striding from the barn with Chloe in the monster's arms!
Now it's eight hours earlier and Lois is large and in charge as she directs the logistics of the approaching ceremony. The army brat in Lois shows the army part as she barks orders to the decorators, the caterers, and then she corrals the videographer with specific commands of how she wants everything filmed. Jimmy enters and Lois teases him about nervousness and Jimmy admits that seeing the bride before the ceremony is a bad luck tradition he's hoping to avoid. Then Jimmy turns the tables on Lois by telling her that he's hoping that she and Clark can get together as a couple which Lois laughs off but her face betrays her as perhaps hoping it happens. Jimmy has forgotten his bow-tie and the camera follows him back to his and Chloe's place and he enters to see Chloe trying to get her wedding garter on. Jimmy practically has a panic attack over seeing Chloe before the ceremony until Chloe calms him down reminding him of all they've weathered together to get to this day. Jimmy runs to get his tie and Chloe gets voice mail from Davis Bloome saying he knows it's inappropriate but he must speak with her. Clark comes downstairs in the house to a beehive of wedding preparation and then Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, arrives. He tells Clark that Lex Luthor is alive and he needs Clark's help to retrieve an e-mail router so that he can track Lex to his lair.
But Clark refuses citing the fact he's giving Chloe away in hours and now that Chloe no longer knows his secrets he can't leave her on her wedding day. Oliver reminds Clark that Chloe's memories of his secrets may have been erased by Jor-El in the Fortress of Solitude, but Lex still knows everything about Clark making him even more dangerous then ever. Clark makes the run for Oliver to get the router and arrives at Oliver's jet sitting on the tarmac but when he sees Oliver's been studying the file about Lionel Luthor having killed his parents Clark worries that Oliver's motivation is revenge. Oliver insists he's doing this to keep Clark safe but Clark tells him he'll keep the router until after the ceremony and then he'll accompany Oliver in the search for Lex. Clark speeds away but then Oliver's assistant enters and tells him he downloaded the router's information using wireless technology and they can now proceed without Clark. Back at the farm Lois enters the loft to find Chloe waiting and at the sight of the beautiful bride to be Lois' gasps in admiration. The cousins hug each other and then Chloe's phone again rings but she won't take the call as it's Davis on the line. Chloe tells Lois how last week Davis kissed her and told her he felt she was marrying the wrong man and she's worried over his confusion. Lois worries about how Chloe knew Jimmy was for her but she assures Lois he's her true love and when her time comes she'll know the right man for her has arrived in her life.
Chloe says all she needs now is "something borrowed" as she's already got something old and something new and something blue. She goes to the lead box sitting in the loft and takes out the piece of meteor rock, kryptonite, inside it just as Clark enters the loft. Chloe's obviously forgotten the substance is deadly to Clark so he tells her to put it back in the box and he offers her a flower that she gave Clark during their freshman year at the Homecoming dance. Chloe and Lois are both impressed that Clark has held onto it all this time and Chloe places the flower in her bouquet. In Alquizar in Cuba the Green Arrow enters a dark building and seeing the silhouette of a bald man standing by a window he fires an arrow as he says, "Goodbye Lex". But when he walks over to the fallen figure all he finds is a mannequin that now has a large hole in its head and a note on it that says, "Sorry I missed you." Then he's attacked by a woman who kicks him around with the authority of a trained fighter. But the fight stops as quickly as it began when the woman says, "Oliver Queen?" and she steps out of the shadows and we see it's Lana Lang! Lana is surprised to discover Oliver is the Green Arrow and when she sees the hole in the mannequin's head she questions his motives. He tells Lana that they're both obviously looking for Lex and Lana says she's not convinced Lex isn't dead. She tells Oliver if they both are fighting for the greater good then killing can't be part of it and they need to act more like Clark. Oliver tells her of Chloe's wedding and Lana first refuses to attend until Oliver asks her what she thinks Clark would do in this situation.
Lois and Clark are both dressed up and when they see each other in their finery it's obvious their feelings for each other are growing. When Clark read Jimmy's vows about wanting to spend their whole life together Lois first thinks he's talking to her and her true heart is more exposed then ever. Then the videographer arrives and we're back at the moment we first saw when the two give their best wishes to the happy couple on camera. Then we see a hysterical Davis Bloome trying to clean blood off himself and his ambulance and he leaves Chloe a phone message that he's done something horrible. He's in the back of a building and he puts two blood soaked plastic bags into a nearby dumpster but when he turns around a security guard is there. The man spots the blood at Davis' feet and when he looks in the dumpster and sees the bloody bags he pulls his gun on Davis. Davis slumps down in front of the dumpster telling the man he needs to go right now and we see spikes growing from his knuckles. In a voice no longer his own he yells "Run" at the man but whatever he turns into looms large over the guard who empties his gun with no effect. And with a swipe of a massive arm and a splash of blood we know the guard has died suddenly and horribly! Back at the wedding Clark's dancing with Chloe and she says that she feels that a great weight has been recently lifted from her and Clark knows that's the weight she bore from knowing his secrets for years. Jimmy cuts in with Chloe and Clark reaches to Lois and they dance for a minute and then they both stop and look into each other's eyes and lean in to kiss for the first time.
But they're interrupted by Lana who has arrived for the wedding and Lois is hurt by the sight of Lana and Clark staring at each other and she walks away. Lois grabs a bottle of champagne and heads for the Kent porch to drown her sorrows but she's found there by her old flame Oliver Queen. He tells Lois he's there for her now as a friend and Lois says that she's confused as she thinks that love might have arrived but was suddenly derailed. Oliver knows who she's talking about and he tells her that Clark does need her and he knows that because he knows Clark. Back in the barn Lana's gotten a text message asking her, "Did the Archer believe you?" but Clark's entrance causes her to put her phone away. When Clark asks why she's there she says she heard about the mysterious blur saving lives in Metropolis and she's proud of him but she's still glad she had the courage to leave Smallville. Clark wonders how Lana could have left but she says that they both have to accept the fact that maybe they just weren't meant to be together. Now we're back at the moment of the cake cutting and once again a huge thud on the roof is followed by all hell breaking loose as the creature crashes into the barn. People are buried under wreckage and Lana is flung aside by a falling ceiling panel and as the creature rises from the shadows we now see its entire body has spikes protruding from it. He strides across the floor wreaking havoc as people are flung away like toys and screams rip the air as the beast demolishes the barn also as he walks. He walks up to Clark who throws his hardest punch at him and the juggernaut simply catches Clark's fist in it's spiked hand and then smacks him straight through the walls and into the loft where the Kryptonite piece we saw earlier falls from its box making Clark helpless!
The monster walks towards Chloe and Jimmy leaving victims in his wake and when Jimmy tries to stop him with a piece of wood he swings at him with, the giant throws a huge right arm which smashes Jimmy aside and he falls to the ground badly injured. Chloe bends over her fallen husband begging him to hang on and then giant footsteps crash up to her and the creature reaches down almost tenderly and cradles the bride's head in his spiked hand. And when the beast actually says her name in a deep rasping voice Chloe finally succumbs to the moment and screams at the top of her lungs! An injured Lana has made her way to the loft and she puts the Kryptonite back in its box and Clark quickly recovers but Oliver comes up to them telling them it's too late as the thing has taken Chloe and gone. Clark enters the Emergency Room and it's filled with victims of the attack and he finds Lana in a room and checks on her which Lois sees and she gets more upset. Lana tells Clark to go and when he sees Lois she tells him that Jimmy has serious internal bleeding and is being flown to Star City where a top surgeon will hopefully save him. Lois says she's going to Star City with Jimmy and laments why are all these horrible things happening to them and Clark hugs her telling her he promises to get Chloe back.
Then we see the creature with Chloe cradled in his spiked arms walking into the Fortress of Solitude and placing Chloe on a dais there. The Fortress' crystalline beams are still black from Brainiac's attack and Chloe actually smiles and we see she's thinking about how happy she and Jimmy were earlier. The camera pulls back and we see that a man with cables and wires running into his body is lying on a metal bed watching the videotape of the creature's attack at the wedding on a monitor. But perhaps the most telling thing about the man watching is that he is bald. As bald as Lex Luthor was when he disappeared in the collapse of the Fortress of Solitude.

Our Story:
Chloe Sullivan has been possessed by Brainiac the living computer and then Doomsday captured her from her wedding to Jimmy and took her to the Fortress of Solitude. Lana walks through the wrecked Kent farm barn which was the site of the wedding and the rampage of the monstrous Doomsday. Clark speeds into the barn telling Lana his super-speed search has yielded no sign of Chloe or the beast that kidnapped her. Clark tells Lana that his biological father Jor-El warned him of a Kryptonian beast that was considered the "ultimate destroyer" but he doesn't know why the creature took Chloe. Lana tells Clark she's going to the Isis Foundation she created and she'll try to glean any information about the monster from its files. After she leaves a bright purple glow manifests in the barn loft and a man in an armored mask and vest wielding a huge ax appears. Clark confronts him and the man swings his axe into Clark's ribs and actually wounds him! The strange attacker then kicks Clark to the barn's floor and prepares to deliver a killing blow. But as he raises his axe to strike a young man wearing a ring with a gold "L" on it whisks the axe from the attacker's hand with a surge of magnetism he seems to generate. Then a young blonde girl appears and pressing her fingers to her temples she projects thoughts telling the man to stop what he's doing. Another young man with a head of red hair appears and he shoots lightning bolts from his hand which send the attacker flying.
The dark haired man walks over and takes the ring from the attacker's finger and the assailant disappears in another flash of purple light. Clark rises and asks who they are and the dark haired man calls him Kal-El and he says it's an honor to meet him. The young lady says they're the "Legion", and the dark haired man says they are from the 31st century. And then the red haired youth asks Clark where his cape is and now Clark is completely confused. The dark haired man calls the blonde girl "Imra" and the red haired youth "Garth". Garth starts to tell Clark that one day he'll be known as "Sup-", but the dark haired man called "Rokk" stops him in mid-sentence warning him to say no more. But Clark demands answers even if Rokk says they're leaving and he's told that his attacker is called the "Persuader" and he's a member of the Human Supremacist movement in the future who are Xenophobes who hate all aliens and especially hate Clark most of all. Rokk says that it's because of Clark that the world learns to welcome alien immigrants openly and his influence will reach far beyond Earth. Garth tells Clark that they may look human but all three of them are actually from other planets and Imra telepathically tells Clark they've come from across the universe to form the Legion and now they must leave. But Rokk spots a smashed object he says is the Phantom Zone crystal that history says was used to extract Brainiac from the host he possessed and that must have been the Persuader's actual target and that also means that the living computer is still a great threat.
Davis Bloome awakens in the Fortress of Solitude and he sees who he thinks is Chloe and he runs to her asking is she's all right. But this is actually Brainiac who's possessed Chloe's body and he tells Davis that Chloe has ceased to exist. Brainiac/Chloe explains that Davis isn't truly human either and he was hatched by Kryptonian geneticists and designed to adapt to any environment, hence his human appearance. But he's actually the beast called Doomsday and now it's time for him to incubate in his Kryptonian chrysalis and take the Doomsday form forever after which all he'll feel is absolute rage coupled with unparalleled power. After Brainiac gains the knowledge of the planet Doomsday will then kill Kal-El and eradicate the Earth. Back at the Kent farm Imra reads Clark's thoughts of Chloe being kidnapped and the three Legion members explain to Clark that now that the crystal has been smashed the only way left to stop Brainiac is to kill the human host he's possessed but Clark won't accept that and he runs off at super-speed. But the three youths from the future use their Legion flight rings to follow him and they land in front of him and Garth asks Clark why isn't he flying and Clark says he doesn't know how. Clark tells them there will be no killing and he's headed to the Fortress to talk to Jor-El. Clark talks about Chloe being attacked by Brainiac but insists she was cured. Rokk tells him that history records nothing of a person named Chloe Sullivan but Imra admits her name could have been lost over time.
Clark speeds away and Garth remarks that so far Clark doesn't seem anything like the legendary Man of Steel. Imra goes to the Isis Foundation and tells Lana who she is and where she's from and says that killing Chloe is the only way to stop Brainiac, but Lana will not sanction killing her friend or anyone for that matter. Imra remarks that history shows that Lana builds a life beyond Smallville and she's also a big part of the reason Clark becomes such a great hero, but she also says that if Brainiac survives then billions will die. Garth and Rokk go to Chloe's apartment and they wonder if Chloe's death finally causes Kal-El to start using his flight abilities. At the Fortress of Solitude Clark finds no sign of Jor-El and Brainiac/Chloe appears and tells Clark that he intends to absorb all of Earth's knowledge and then use Doomsday to destroy the Earth. Brainiac says that knowing Clark would never harm Chloe is the very reason he chose to possess her. Clark speeds away and we see Davis Bloome inside his chrysalis where he will become Doomsday forever and shed his human camouflage. The three Legionnaires know that Clark isn't what they expected due to his great legend, but Garth says they must kill Chloe themselves even if Clark won't or their world will never exist. Clark sees Lana at the Isis Foundation and tells her he's worried that his reluctance to kill Chloe may kill billions but Lana says that the Clark she knows would not waver and would find a way to save Chloe and stop Brainiac.
Brainiac/Chloe enters the Daily Planet and rips open a computer and starts a program running that instantly enters computers worldwide. Lana detects the massive power surge at the Planet and then the three orbs glowing in a triangular shape denoting Brainiac appears on her screens too and freezes Lana and all humans worldwide. At the Planet Brainiac has started to download all human knowledge directly from human's brains and suddenly Imra appears and tries a psychic attack on the living computer. But Brainiac throws Imra aside and tells her the history that tells of his defeat this day is about to be rewritten. Without warning though Rokk and Garth blast Brainiac with dual bolts of magnetism and lightning which send Brainiac/Chloe flying through a partition stunning her. Rokk says that the electromagnetic pulse they just blasted Brainiac with has shut him down for only a few minutes and they must now kill Chloe to save billions and their future existence. They place Brainiac/Chloe on a desktop and Garth picks up a letter opener shaped like a knife and says he'll kill Chloe but Imra reads his thoughts and knows he can't do it. Then Rokk takes the knife and prepares to kill Chloe but Clark speeds into the room stopping him. He says that the Legion code he's heard them speak of must be based on his first rule and that's to never take a life no matter what. Imra reads Chloe's thoughts inside her possessed body and she now knows that Chloe still lives.
Clark takes Chloe back to the Kent farm to keep Brainiac away from any computers and inside the barn he tells the three Legionnaires that they must all work together to save Chloe and stop Brainiac. He asks Imra to connect his thoughts to Chloe's and when she does he tells Chloe what they're going to try. Brainiac starts to reawaken but as he does Rokk uses his magnetic powers to pull the microscopic nanites comprising the insane living computer from Chloe's body while Garth uses his lightning to short-circuit Brainiac so he can't reboot. The nanites flow from Chloe's mouth and start to form a ball above Chloe's body while Imra uses her power to keep Clark in contact with her to protect her mind. The desperate plan works and Rokk holds in his hand the metal globe which contains the living computer while people and computers all over the world recover, but in the Fortress we see also Davis Bloome awaken inside his chrysalis. Chloe's eyes open and she smiles at Clark and tells him she feels fine and a lot dumber which means her enhanced brain power she derived from Brainiac is gone forever. The two friends smile at each other and the Legionnaires relax also knowing that Brainiac's menace is finally ended. The next day Chloe's packing her bags to join Jimmy who is recovering in a Star City hospital with Lois watching over him and Clark says he's happy that the newly married couple will finally be reunited.
Clark asks Chloe what she remembers about him and Chloe says she has all her memories back which means that once again she knows all of Clark's secrets about his abilities and origin. Clark remarks he'd never give up on her and she says she hopes he'll always do whatever is the right thing for the world. Later Lana enters the Kent house to find Imra who tells her that history is correct about Kal-El bringing out the best in people. Clark, Rokk, and Garth have restored the barn destroyed by Doomsday and Garth asks if he could keep the first baseball Clark ever hit which Pa Kent found on the other side of Smallville after walking the fields for hours. Clark says yes and uses his heat-vision to burn the initials CK into it. Imra enters the barn carrying the globe containing Brainiac and Rokk says he hopes that after reprogramming him, Brainiac 5, the next version of the living computer, will prove to be friendlier then the previous incarnations were. Rokk says that they've learned that preserving life is the most important thing of all and will always be the first rule in the Legion code from now on. Rokk gives Clark a Legion ring with the golden letter "L" on it and says that it's been programmed only for time travel to 3009 if Clark ever wants to visit the future and Garth says that means that Kal-El will have to learn how to fly on his own.
The three young people stand in a triangle and pointing their rings up to the sky Rokk says, "Long live the Legion" and the trio returns to the future in a purple flash of light. On the Kent porch Lana finds Clark holding the Legion ring and he wonders how he'll ever amount to the legend known throughout the galaxy he's been told he'll be. Lana says that she has no doubt he will grow into that legend but he must do it in his own time and not what a history book of the future says. Clark wonders what's next for him and then we see the chrysalis in the Fortress being smashed open. And we see the fully realized beast called Doomsday snarling with a clenched fist and we know that no part of Davis Bloome remains. Just an incredibly powerful monster whose sole purpose of destruction will someday cast its shadow over the last son of Krypton!

Our Story:
Detective John Jones, who is actually the Martian Manhunter, is in his squad car chasing a murder suspect through the streets of Metropolis. He cuts off the man's truck in a dangerous game of "chicken" and after a brief fight subdues the man and hands him over to two patrolmen who take the criminal away. But as he's about to get back into his car high powered shots ring out hitting his vehicle and he dives for safety as his windshield's shot out. He crawls out the other car door but the shots are so powerful one penetrates the door striking him in the chest, and John Jones falls to the ground unconscious and bleeding badly. As the sniper secures his weapon we don't see his face, but we do see the assailant is wearing a Metropolis policeman's badge and uniform! Clark Kent is at Metropolis General hospital looking at coroner's reports when Lana Lang comes in bringing Clark a cup of coffee and reminding him they were supposed to meet after work. Clark apologizes and tells her that a night watchman and two ambulance drivers were also killed the night the beast called Doomsday kidnapped Chloe from her wedding. He swears to stop the creature before others die and Lana leaves to allow Clark to keep looking for the killer. Then Clark watches in shock as John Jones is wheeled into the emergency room and is taken into a private area as he has no pulse and is in danger of dying!
Then Oliver Queen, secretly the Green Arrow, walks up to Clark telling him he heard the shooting call over his scanner. Having worked with Detective Jones on other matters, Oliver made sure that Dr. Hamilton would work on John as the Doctor is on Oliver's payroll and will be discrete about John's alien origins. Clark feels responsible for the Manhunter's plight as the last Martian sacrificed his powers when he saved Clark's life by flying him towards the sun when Clark suffered a mortal wound. Oliver tells Clark they don't seem to work well together and the two men agree to follow their own respective leads in looking for whoever shot John. Tess Mercer is working out with her Aikido instructor when Lana Lang enters the study in Lex Luthor's mansion. The instructor leaves and Lana tells Tess she knows that Lex Luthor is still alive and that vast amounts of Luthorcorp dollars are being spent on a project called "Prometheus" but Tess denies it. Lana warns Tess that her protecting Lex in his interests is just one way Lex uses people's allegiance to him against them and she leaves. But unknown to Tess, Lana has used a wireless receiver in her purse to steal data files from Lex's system in the mansion during her visit.
Clark super-speeds into the Isis Foundation where Chloe has found that John Jones was investigating police officers in the 44th Precinct. Chloe tells Clark she worries that her cousin Lois Lane will be hurt if Clark and Lana renew their old relationship and Clark says it's not possible to just stop loving someone even if they are from your past. Clark notices that Chloe has found that an armor piercing bullet hit John and it seems to have disappeared from evidence and that may mean a policeman is involved. Chloe forges documents that arrange an undercover identity for Clark to join the police force in the suspect precinct and Clark shows up in uniform to join the squad the next day. Clark is teamed with an Officer Danny Turpin who is being teased by fellow officers at the sight of his new rookie partner "Joe Foreman" that Clark's posing as. Clark and Danny cruise the mean streets of Metropolis and Clark brings up the subject of John being shot and Danny says that wearing the badge is like wearing a bull's-eye on your chest. Then Danny complains that the costumed heroes showing up in Metropolis like the Green Arrow and the red-blue blur are interfering with police work as the police have rules and the costume wearers don't.
Then the two get a police call about a junkie robbing a pharmacy and they head for the scene and Clark notices a mug shot Danny's carrying that he says is someone he's been looking for. When they pull up to the Drug Store Danny chases after a fleeing suspect while he tells Clark to secure the scene. The desperate thief hides in an alleyway and Danny runs by him while the man aims at Danny's back with a gun he suddenly pulls. But Danny is only startled and not hurt when he hears the shot being fired and turns to see Clark standing over the would-be cop killer. Danny takes the man away while Clark discards the bullet he caught in his bare hand before it could hurt the officer! Lana has taken the stolen data back to the Isis Foundation and is trying to send it to someone unknown to us but the data transmission doesn't work citing an unknown device which puzzles Lana. Clark joins his fellow officers for a barbeque over at Danny's house where he meets Danny's wife and young son who's dressed as the "red-blue blur" as he plays. Danny's wife Suzie tells Clark that Danny lost his partner Mike who was killed recently and she's grateful Clark kept her husband from harm. The other officers also toast Clark as he kept Danny safe that day and when Clark again mentions the Detective Jones shooting Officer Simmons tells Clark that John was a lone wolf and it's hard to protect someone who doesn't stay close to his fellow officers. He tells Clark to always wear his vest and then a phone call that Danny and the other two officers get prompts them to head for their cars with Danny telling Clark they have to leave the party.
Tess enters the Isis Foundation and confronts Lana telling her she knows Lana stole files from her and caused the data to be corrupted which could jeopardize Lex's chances for survival. Then Tess pulls a gun on Lana and the two women find themselves in an Aikido duel as Lana knocks the gun from Tess' hand. The two women fight wildly smashing furniture and breaking glass until Lana grabs Tess' fallen gun getting the drop on her ending the brawl. Clark and Danny are led into a warehouse where another cop is holding the same suspect whose picture Clark saw Danny with earlier. He learns that this is the man who shot Danny's old partner and he was released on a legal technicality. Danny starts to beat the man badly as the man says he's sorry for what he did and Simmons tells Clark that this is the way they control the streets. Then Talbot throws Clark a crowbar and tells him to man up and give his partner a hand punishing their captive. Clark stands frozen for an instant and then the Green Arrow appears firing glowing green taser bolts from his crossbow into the officers surrounding the helpless criminal and even one into Clark. The Green Arrow recognizes Clark asking him what he's doing there and Clark tells him he has to get out of there now! The Green Arrow fires a bolt into the roof and flies up out of sight leaving Clark and the stunned officers lying there.
Lana brings Tess to the Isis Foundation where she shows her that all the time she was trusting Lex Luthor he was still using her for his own ends. Lana tells her she's learned that two years ago when Tess was on a team researching disease samples for Lex, an explosion destroyed her camp nearly killing her and Tess retorts that Lex saved her life after the explosion. Lana shows her that Lex had Doctors install a nanotransmitter wired to her optic nerve and he's been using the signal it sends to serve as his eyes and ears. Lana brings up on all the room's display screens the signal and Tess sees on every panel in the room that all she sees and hears is being broadcast to Lex. Then Lana tells Tess that Lex may have saved her but he never trusted her. Back at Metropolis General Hospital Clark is checking on John Jones' recovery from his wound when Danny Turpin comes in telling Clark he saw the Green Arrow talking to Clark after he attacked them. Clark says he's only interested in catching the man who shot John Jones and he's convinced now that it was one of the policemen in Danny's circle. Danny insists he's only one man and he must think about his family's safety too and Clark fires back that he's forgotten why he put on his uniform in the first place and vigilante justice isn't real justice.
The next day at the Kent farmhouse Oliver enters telling Clark that the police he's working with have crossed the line and he shows Clark a picture of the suspect John Jones arrested the night he was shot explaining that the man never made it into custody and was drowned by the killer cops. Clark says that not all of the police are killers and he wants to try and bring the ones on the line back to the right side of the law. He's narrowed the suspect down to either Officer Simmons or Talbot but Oliver won't wait and says he's going to stop the vigilante police squad before someone else gets killed and he storms out. What Clark doesn't know is that Danny's told Officer Simmons that Clark's working undercover to expose them and now his cover has been blown. Next we see Clark walk up to a squad car parked outside Officer Simmon's house and using his x-ray vision he spots the high powered rifle in the car's trunk and then he uses his super-strength to easily pop the trunk and remove the weapon. But then Clark is surrounded by Precinct 44 police who arrest him for the attempted murder of Detective John Jones; Clark has walked into a trap and now he's accused of the very crime he's investigating. As Clark is led away to a squad car he tells Danny he's better then this and after he's gone Officer Simmons tells Danny there's only one loose thread now and he wants him to be the man who killed the Green Arrow! Later that night the rogue policemen bring a suspect to a back alley and Danny tells the man he won't be harmed and he's only being used for bait.
Officer Simmons is set up with his deadly sniper rifle on an adjacent rooftop and then Officer Talbot starts roughing the suspect up while Danny takes a hidden position to shoot the Green Arrow when he shows up to stop them. Sure enough the Green Arrow swoops into the alley and knocks Talbot down and the beaten suspect runs away. Then Danny jumps out with gun drawn telling the Green Arrow to raise his hands as Simmons tells him through his earpiece to shoot the green clad archer. Oliver tells Danny that Clark trusted him and thought he could still be saved but if he shoots him he'll cross a line he can never come back from. Simmons keeps yelling at Danny to shoot and the young officer struggles with his conscience a moment longer and finally lowers his weapon. Then the Green Arrow sees Simmon's rifle's laser pointed at Danny's chest and he tackles him to the ground just as Simmons fires barely missing Danny. As Clark's being bought to the precinct he hears the call from Simmons go out asking for backup as the Green Arrow's assaulted an officer. As the two cops taking Clark in comment on how they knew Danny wouldn't kill when it came to it, Clark super-speeds away towards the alley where the Green Arrow and Danny are being shot at. Danny tries to change his position from where he's hiding and Simmons shoots him down but Danny's vest stops the bullet enough so he's only wounded. Then Simmons aims at the Green Arrow but a red blur suddenly appears in front of his telescopic sight and he looks up to sees Clark who grabs his rifle throwing it away. Then Simmons whips out his handgun and shoots Clark right in the chest but the bullet bounces off him and ricochets into Simmons wounding him. He gapes in amazement at Clark who tells him he took his earlier advice and made sure to wear his bullet-proof vest!
Down in the alley backup police arrive to see a wounded Danny arresting Officer Talbot as he tells them not to shoot, he's one of the good guys, and Clark watches from the rooftop smiling as his faith in Danny is rewarded. The next day Clark and Oliver arrive at the hospital as John Jones prepares to leave as he's recovered from his gunshot wound. Clark asks John why he didn't ask for help and John tells them that after he lost his powers his pride got in the way just as it's interfered in Clark and Oliver's effectiveness also. Clark says that watching the police back each other up has shown him that if you work as a team you can accomplish much more then you can alone. The three men all shake their heads in agreement and we know that this is the beginning of a bond being formed that one day will change the world. Back at the Luthor mansion, Tess stares into a mirror as she tells the spying Lex that she respected him and would have done anything for him and he repaid her loyalty by using her. Now she says she wants him to watch her as she works to dismantle his empire and cut off his lifeline to the outside world. She puts a jamming device in the necklace she's wearing and says goodbye to Lex just as the signal to him is cut off by the device she intends to always wear. After the signal ends she cries as she tells Lex she loves him, even though she knows he can no longer hear her or see her. Then Oliver walks into the study asking her why she called him there and she tells him she wants to discuss a merger.
When Oliver asks what kind of merger she tells him any kind he wants and she walks from the room with a smile no man could resist. As they leave we see on Tess' desk a Daily Planet headline which says, "Lex Luthor Declared Dead!" Clark visits Danny who tells him thanks for reminding him what's right and Clark asks if it's hard to do his job knowing his wife and son must worry about him. And Danny says that keeping them safe is the reason he returns to the job everyday and he asks Clark if he has someone he does his job for everyday and Clark smiles. Clark goes to the Talon coffee shop and meets Lana and tells her for the last year he's sacrificed everything and everyone in his life to serve the greater good. And now he wonders why can't he think about his own happiness for a change? He holds Lana in his arms and they kiss and suddenly Clark's destiny takes another turn which may take him and Lana in a whole new direction.

Our Story:
In a secret lab complex we see Dr. Groll, who we've seen in the past working for Lex Luthor, ordering a procedure to begin despite a colleague's warning that it's too untested to try on a human being despite Mr. Luthor's orders he be gotten back on his feet as soon as possible. Groll walks up onto a platform where a person is seen inside a coffin shaped glass tank filled with liquid and he orders "trans-dermal evisceration" to begin. Then the top layer of the liquid in the tank bursts into flame and the camera pans down into the tank where we see the subject under the flames is none other then a screaming Lana Lang! Next we see Chloe enter the Kent farmhouse to find Clark watching the farewell video Lana left for him months ago and she scolds Clark mildly telling him not to watch it anymore. Clark says he's moved on and made changes in his life but he and Lana kissed last night and he thinks it was a mistake. Chloe reminds Clark that the video was made seven months ago and Lana's feelings may have changed and Clark should go to her apartment where Lana's been staying and talk to her. Clark goes to Chloe's apartment but when he enters he finds it has been ransacked and not only is Lana missing but Tess Mercer is inside and she pulls a gun on Clark.
Tess lowers her gun and tells Clark that Lana was already gone when she arrived to warn her that Lex Luthor is after her for looking into nanotechnology research that's being used to keep him alive. She says that Lana's opened her eyes about Lex's true nature and she's trying to protect her as this isn't the first time Lex had her kidnapped. Tess tells Clark that the video Lana left him was made while she was being held at gunpoint by men working for Tess under Lex's orders. After the video was ended the men chloroformed Lana and Tess told them to take her to a compound where she would meet them. Clark now realizes that Lana was coerced and didn't really want to leave him but Tess reminds Clark that his and Lana's relationship was hurting Lana. As the men raced in a van with a recovering Lana inside, she feigns illness and kicks one man to the back of the van and picking up his dropped weapon she shoots the man wounding him and forces the driver out also and races into the night now in control of the van. She pulls into a gas station and runs into the bathroom and cuts her hair short to hopefully disguise herself. Clark listens to Tess and then uses his x-ray vision to spot a necklace in a drawer shaped like the legendary bird Phoenix that arose from its own ashes.
Tess tells Clark that her strategic adviser named Carter Bowfry wears the same necklace and Clark goes to the Luthor mansion and confronts the man. Carter tells Clark that last Spring Lana found him saying she knew he was a man who trained Navy Seals to withstand extreme pain and torture and she wants Carter to train her also. He starts by having Lana immerse herself under icy water in a tub which teaches Lana her true limits of endurance. Then to overcome her fear of pain he has her use her arms to pick up a red-hot small anvil which is sitting in a tub of smoldering coals. He tells Lana she must remove herself from Clark's shadow and empower herself to be her own person and to be fearless. Finally one day Lana tells Carter she hopes to acquire great power like the kind she once had but at the time wasn't ready for. Carter gave her the Phoenix necklace and eventually joined her cause working for Tess Mercer while feeding Lana inside information on Luthorcorp projects. Clark asks if Lana contacted anyone after she went to Metropolis and he's shocked when Carter tells her she talked to Chloe. In the secret lab Lana is badly burnt and barely alive when Dr. Groll tells his technicians to start applying what he calls the Prometheus layer nanites into Lana and her skin sparks with energy as the procedure begins.
Tess finds the man called Reagan who she once worked with and she tells him to bring her the Prometheus technology he's looking for to keep Lex alive but he refuses and he warns Tess that her having had Lex declared dead is going to cause her own death. Back in the lab the Prometheus layer has been applied to Lana and as her body is raised from the tank to be quarantined we see her skin looks completely healed. Clark confronts Chloe with the knowledge that she spoke to Lana after disappearing and Chloe says she couldn't betray Lana's trust just as she'd never betray Clark's. Chloe now tells Clark she found Lana inside the Isis Foundation standing over a radiator and Lana told Chloe she was proud of how Chloe had built the foundation bigger and stronger then she ever had. She says Lana was investigating Lex's earlier project called "Ares" which tried using alien DNA to give soldiers enhanced abilities. Lana swore Chloe to secrecy and now Clark realizes she needed her activities kept secret so no one, especially Clark, interfered with her actions. Tess enters her office in the Daily Planet to find Regan has killed one of her agents after the man told him the address of the Prometheus lab. Tess tells Regan her security cameras in the office will give her the same information and then Regan tells Tess that Lex let him spy on her in intimate moments and then he pulls a gun to kill her.
Tess knocks the gun aside and the two fight until Tess grabs a statue and knocks Regan down to the floor where she unleashes her rage literally kicking him to death as his blood splashes on her. When she realizes she's just crossed a terrible line by killing Reagan, the look on her face is one of shock and satisfaction at the same time. At the Isis Foundation Clark uses his x-ray vision to find a safe hidden behind the radiator Lana was standing in front of when Chloe met her there. He rips the safe open and extracts a disk drive that Lana was hiding there and Chloe hooks it up to the computers she uses and they find that Lana spoke with Groll telling him she knew that the Prometheus Project involved meta-dermal skin grafts that not only would restore Lex's ruined body but also give him super-human abilities. Lana convinces Groll that giving Lex god-like powers would enable a madman and she tells him to move the lab to space she owns in the city and to tell his researchers that Lex ordered that she be used as a guinea pig. Now Clark and Chloe realize that Lana wasn't kidnapped and she intends to gain the powers from the Prometheus Project for herself. In the lab Lana is slowly recovering due to what Groll now calls the Prometheus suit when Tess enters with her gun drawn and she tells Groll the technology must be destroyed. But when Groll says you can't remove the suit without killing Lana, Tess simply turns and fires a bullet at Lana.
At that moment Clark speeds into the room faster then mortal eyes can follow but suddenly Lana bursts from the chamber she's in at super-speed and catches the bullet and pushes Tess away with a super-strength shove. As Clark watches, Lana smiles at him and super-speeds from the room so quickly only Clark sees what has happened. Tess returns to the Luthor mansion to find Lana already there destroying all her files and records on Prometheus. Lana tells Tess she donned the Prometheus suit to do good in the world and she's there as Tess' friend. Lana tells Tess that every moment she lets her hatred and desire for revenge on Lex drive her is another moment she's still allowing Lex to control her and the path she's going down is dark and inescapable if she doesn't stop now. She tells Tess not to be Lex's victim anymore and then speeds from the room faster then the eye can follow. Clark is typing at his desk at the Planet in the early morning hours when his super-hearing hears Lana telling him to meet her on the roof. He runs there and finds Lana who tells him he no longer has to fear for her safety as her donning the suit has made them equals and they can work together to improve the world. She asks Clark if that's what he wants and he says yes and they embrace and kiss as the sun rises over Metropolis bringing a new dawn and a new facet to the long and tangled relationship of Clark and Lana.

Our Story:
A man sits in his workshop working on a model of the Daily Planet building and he's talking to a ventriloquist's dummy telling it that toys are powerful things as they hearken us back to when we were children and things were simpler and happier. At the same time, the latest board meeting of Luthorcorp is underway and its business seems to be the potential ouster of Tess Mercer as acting C.E.O. due to her funneling off all of the firm's holdings into a bioweapon project which we saw Lana Lang acquire the powers of last week. The meeting is interrupted by Oliver Queen, secretly the Green Arrow, who tells them that with Tess' help he has acquired a controlling interest in Luthorcorp. As he talks, he notices a desktop set of silver balls on strings that have started clicking against each other of their own accord. When the last ball stops striking, Oliver's instincts kick in and he yells for everyone to get down. But it's too late, for as he dives under the board table a tremendous explosion rocks the room raining debris on the streets of Metropolis in its wake! At the Kent farm, Clark and Lana have just broken the oak bed they're in due to their super-amorous activities. Clark wants to continue but Lana gets dressed at super-speed and says she'd rather use her new powers to assist Clark in patrolling Metropolis as she found saving Dr. Groll from Tess' bullet last week has inspired her to use her abilities to help people.
But Clark is hesitant citing that even with her powers it's still a dangerous city and she could get hurt. But she won't give it up and Clark gets dressed too and tells her that having someone to work alongside him in his efforts is a lifelong dream come true. A knock at the door brings Chloe into the farmhouse and she tells them of the explosion at Luthorcorp and that the entire board was killed and Oliver's been seriously injured and is in Metropolis General Hospital. Clark and Lana speed into Oliver's room just as he awakens and they tell him he was the only survivor and Lana asks if he suspects Lex after he tells them of his new controlling interest in the company. But Oliver says that Lex probably wants revenge more on Lana due to her obtaining the biosuit that he intended for his recovery from the injuries he received in the collapse of the Fortress of Solitude. Clark asks if Oliver saw anything before the blast that may help and Oliver says no and he purposely doesn't mention the clicking balls that predicated the explosion. Clark and Lana speed to the ruined boardroom blast site and suddenly Clark is weakened by Kryptonite somewhere in the room. Lana finds a piece of the bomb which has Kryptonite embedded in a computer chip but as soon as she touches it the piece stops glowing green and Clark recovers.
The chip was made by Queen Industries and Lana tells Clark that she thinks Oliver isn't being truthful as he once met up with her in Cuba and intended to kill Lex if he found him there. Clark had hoped that Oliver had given up his vendetta with Lex but he tells Lana they must not make Oliver privy to anything they find out about Lex if he still wants him dead. The strange man who built the bomb is still in his workshop telling the dummy that his device worked but Tess Mercer wasn't there and Oliver Queen has survived the blast. Then we see that the right eye of the dummy is a surveillance camera connected to a room where Lex Luthor is watching and listening. Lex's badly injured body is scarred with bandages and hoses all over it and his mouth is covered by a grill that he apparently speaks through. The mad bomber tells Lex that he's ready for their next move and when he pushes a button on a hand-held detonator he has, the scale model of the Daily Planet he built explodes and burns as the man laughs! Chloe enters Oliver's hospital room and he asks her to look in the Queen Industries database for records on a man named Winslow Schott who he suspects is the bomber. He says that Schott is brilliant and worked for him until the man starting putting explosives in toys he bought to work and the pressure of his job must have unhinged him so Oliver had to fire the man.
Chloe wants to involve Clark but Oliver refuses saying that he feels that Schott is really working for Lex Luthor as the man never tried anything until Oliver took over Luthorcorp. Chloe is skeptical of Oliver and he admits that he intends to kill Lex if he can to protect the world and she shouldn't involve Clark to protect him as Lex knows Clark's secrets. Chloe goes to Oliver's jet and accesses the Queen Industries database and finds records on Schott but Clark speeds into the jet and she says she's just looking through records as a favor to Oliver. Clark knows Chloe is lying and tells her that Oliver wants to kill Lex and Chloe tells him she's just trying to protect him. Lex will use Kryptonite against him but Clark says that doesn't make it right for him to allow Lex to be killed. Chloe wants Clark to get proactive and treat Lex as the threat he is but Clark reminds her when Brainiac possessed her he wouldn't allow her to be killed to stop that menace and he won't sanction deadly force against Lex either. Chloe gives Clark the data on Schott telling him that Oliver thinks the man will lead them to Lex. At that moment Schott is walking into the hospital carrying a toy monkey and balloons and he asks the nurse where he can find Oliver Queen! Clark enters his house to find Lana holding the necklace he gave her back in high school and he puts it around Lana's neck. He tells her that Oliver was lying and shows her the information on Schott that Chloe gave him.
Lana says that Dr. Groll has told her the biosuit she wears has the ability to absorb Kryptonite and that's what happened to the piece she found in the chip at the bomb site. She says Lex must have had that feature designed into the suit knowing he could then use it as a weapon against Clark. Clark tells her they'll figure that problem out after they find Schott and stop him from hurting anyone else. Lana notices that Schott holds many patents on his inventions and the patent office will probably yield information on Schott's current location. Back in his hospital room Oliver has awoken to find Schott in his room and the mad Toyman has handcuffed Oliver to his bed. He notices Schott carries small screwdrivers in his coat to work on his toys and he purposely taunts Schott so when the Toyman leans over him, Oliver grabs one of the screwdrivers from Schott to work on unlocking his handcuffs. Schott tells him he now works for Lex Luthor and Oliver shouldn't have fired him and now he'll pay with his life. Schott tells Oliver the monkey he's holding will bang his cymbals together 53 times, once for every patent Queen made money from him on, and then it will explode killing Oliver. Schott starts the monkey toy but when he leans over Oliver to taunt him before he leaves, we see Oliver has freed one hand after picking the handcuff lock and he grabs Schott around the neck telling him to free his other hand or Schott will blow up with him.
Schott releases Oliver's other hand and the Green Arrow shows his unerring aim by skewering the monkey toy bomb with the screwdriver stopping its deadly countdown. Then Oliver leaps on Schott twisting his fingers and hand threatening to break them if Schott doesn't tell him where he can find Lex Luthor. Clark and Lana have found Schott's workshop and Lana spots the dummy's head turning towards them and she tells Clark that the doll has a wireless camera in it that Lex must be using. She stuffs the dummy upside down in a basket and then Clark shows her the scale model of Metropolis that Schott has built. And when he sees the destroyed Daily Planet building in the model city, they know what Schott's next bombing target will be! Oliver's nurse enters his room to find Winslow Schott tied up in his bed. She starts to release the man when Chloe enters telling her not to let him go, but it's too late as Winslow uses his balloons to release knockout gas into the air as he wears a gas filter so the gas can't hurt him. The nurse and Chloe collapse on the floor as Schott walks out to complete his next bombing mission for Lex Luthor. Clark finds Chloe and brings her to the Isis Foundation while Lana searches for the bomb at the Daily Planet. Chloe manages to trace Lex's location from the signal the dummy was transmitting to him. She uses a Queen Industries satellite to track Lex but the signal is mobile indicating Lex is constantly being moved around the city. She gives Clark her PDA which she's programmed to follow Lex's signal but she tells Clark he only has ten minutes before the satellite's orbit carries it out of range and Lex disappears again.
Clark speeds to the Planet where Lana tells him she hasn't yet found the bomb so Clark uses his super-hearing and detects the bomb's ticking coming from the building's roof. They run to the roof where they find the huge bomb is made from two huge glowing orbs containing Kryptonite so Clark can't approach the device. Then Lex speaks to them through a transmitter on the bomb telling them they have to make a choice which will destroy their relationship the way they've destroyed him. If Lana uses her suit to absorb the massive amount of Kryptonite radiation, then Clark will never be able to be near her again. But if they run away to be able to stay together, then the bomb will explode killing thousands when it detonates. The two lovers agonize over their decision for a moment before Clark tells Lana she must do it. Lana walks up to the bomb and placing her hands on the globes, green Kryptonite energy sparks from the bomb to Lana until she rises above the bomb absorbing massive amounts of the radiation which can kill Clark. Finally the bomb darkens and Lana falls to the roof and Clark tries to run to her, but just as Lex promised he cannot get near to her without the Kryptonite hurting him. Clark says Lex's name in anger and then speeds from the scene to a truck that Chloe's PDA leads him to.
Clark tells himself that Lex will never hurt anyone again but before he can act Lana speeds in between him and the truck with the radiation she emanates stopping him. She tells Clark she will help him to punish Lex for what he's done, but if he kills Lex in anger he will lose himself in the process. Then before either of them can say or do anything, the truck Lex is in explodes into a massive fireball! At the Isis Foundation Chloe watches surveillance footage from the hospital and spots Oliver leaving his room with the monkey toy bomb that Schott intended to use on him. Then Oliver enters telling her that Lex deserved to die and Chloe says the remains found in the truck were identified as Lex's and also parts of a toy-based bomb were found too which Oliver says Schott must have used. Chloe says that Schott might have turned on Lex Luthor but she knows he used the bomb on Lex that Schott tried to kill him with. Oliver says that Schott killed many people and one more death blamed on the missing Toyman won't matter and Chloe is shocked to hear him talk that way. Oliver says the world is better off for his killing Lex and Chloe has no room to talk since she used her powers to kill a man named Sebastian Kane who was going to expose Clark's secrets. Chloe says that Kane was killed when she was possessed by Brainiac but Oliver asks if there wasn't a part of Chloe that was glad the man died so she could protect Clark and he thinks she's relieved Lex is dead. Chloe admits it's wrong but she also knows that Lex was a threat and Oliver says she must never tell Clark what he did.
Next we see Clark looking over the remains of the truck where it seems Lex died and he looks sad, perhaps that it came down to Lex dying after all he did over the years to try and save his onetime friend. Next we see Oliver looking at a picture of Lex that was damaged in the boardroom blast and he then looks at the Kryptonite ring of Lex's that he holds in his hand. A wry grin he wears slowly turns into a grimace as he looks at the ring and seems to wonder if he hasn't become the very thing he despised in Lex; someone who would justify any means to achieve an end. Then we see Chloe comforting Lana knowing that she and Clark have been forced apart and their love forever compromised by Lex Luthor in a final act of revenge. Later Clark enters his barn loft to find Lana waiting there and she tells him that Dr. Groll told her there is no way to remove the radiation from her. Clark asks her to stay but Lana says she couldn't stand to see him everyday and not be able to be near him. He runs to her and they kiss one last time even though the Kryptonite is killing Clark while they embrace and finally he collapses with Lana running away from him so he can recover. Lana tells Clark that as long as they are in each other's hearts they will always be together, then in tears she tells Clark she loves him and walks away. As she goes Clark says he loves Lana with a look of despair that shows he knows he will never be with her ever again.

Our Story:
Lois Lane arrives in Metropolis during a driving rain and when she steps out of her cab and sees Clark she is furious as he didn't show up at the airport to pick her up as he promised. She tells Clark off and leaves just as water from a drainpipe behind Clark rises up and forms into the dirt-dishing gossip columnist Linda Lake. She tells Clark she's been spying on him using her ability to turn into water and now she wants to stage her comeback as the exclusive reporter of Clark's deeds that he performs while currently being known only as the red-blue blur of Metropolis. If Clark doesn't cooperate she'll publish an article she's written which she shows Clark and its title is "The Truth about Clark Kent". Clark's abilities and origin will be revealed but he tells Linda he still intends to stop her and he grabs for her as she turns back into water and rushes away down a nearby drain as Clark watches helplessly. Chloe arrives at the Kent farm and Clark tells her of Linda's plans to use him or be exposed and then he shocks Chloe by saying he intends to reveal publicly that he is the red-blue blur who has been saving lives in the city.
Chloe tries to talk Clark out of the idea citing the intense media scrutiny he's sure to get but Clark is sure he can control the way his story is told if he takes the reins in this situation rather then letting Linda Lake pull his strings. At Metropolis General Hospital a nurse enters the pharmacy to find Davis Bloome taking drugs off the shelf and she demands to know what's going on. Davis tells her he's an EMT just back on duty and he's merely taking anti-psychotic drugs to re-stock his ambulance and the nurse relents and carries on with her duties. Clark arrives at The Daily Planet and tells Lois he wants her to write his story as he's the red-blue blur and that statement makes Lois laugh. He follows her into the stock room where she stands on a desk to reach for paper on the top shelf and Clark proves who he is by lifting the entire desk up with one hand. When Lois starts to fall he drops the desk and catches her in his arms using his super-speed and Lois looks at Clark with new eyes telling him she guesses she'll have to stop calling him Smallville. Lois wants to know why she's the first person he's told and Clark tells her that Chloe and Lana have known his secrets for years.
Lois asks what Clark's powers are and he tells her he has heat vision, super-hearing, x-ray vision and he can run faster then the speed of sound. Lois crosses her arms across her chest when Clark mentions x-ray vision but he explains it's not spontaneous and he must concentrate to make it occur. Lois is upset she's never discerned the truth of all this but Clark assures her that this story will cement her credentials and then she mentions meteor-infection and Clark says they should talk about where he's from. The next day's headline in the Daily Planet is the story of the century with the blazing headline of "Clark Kent Alien from Krypton". The newsstand vendor tells Clark he's reminded everybody of what it means to be good, and children start asking Clark for his autograph. As Clark walks down the street people are snapping his picture as he passes and a crowd starts to gather around him. But suddenly Linda Lake appears in front of him warning Clark that she'll have the last word and then she disappears when a flash camera goes off in Clark's face and he's literally surrounded by well-wishers with no chance to pursue her. Chloe finds the downside of Clark's celebrity when the hospital won't let Jimmy transfer there because the media frenzy is after Chloe too as she's now known as the alien's best friend. Chloe spots Davis in the hallway and catches up to him just after he's taken one of the pills he's stolen and she says they must talk after he kissed her just before Jimmy and she got married.
Davis tells Chloe that being his friend is too dangerous for her and she leaves saying goodbye. Then a nurse runs up to Davis excited that he knows Chloe and when he asks why that matters the nurse shows him the headline telling of Clark being a Kryptonian and that gets Davis' attention as he was told he was sent to Earth to destroy the last son of Krypton. Linda Lake approaches the Planet's city editor who at first tells her to get lost until she says she has an expose' about the "alien", and then he starts to listen. The Kent farmhouse is under siege with the media and hundreds of rabid fans parked on the front porch as Chloe squeezes past them to enter. Clark is talking on the phone with his mother who's been put on a forced leave from her senatorial duties and he tells her this will all blow over. Chloe tells Clark that Lois has been given an editorial promotion and he's been given a penthouse office right next to Tess Mercer which doesn't please him at all. Then they hear a woman on TV holding her child and talking about her husband who died recently in a crane collapse on a worksite and she wants to know why is it Clark gets to choose who lives and who dies? Chloe tells Clark they have to find Linda Lake who she says was held captive while Chloe was in the Black Creek Montana facility of Luthorcorp. She says that an electrical current was run through her restraints which stopped her from changing to her water form.
Then the TV shows none other then Linda Lake who is telling the cameras and reporters that Clark is really the first wave of an all-out alien invasion and he caused the meteor showers that hit Smallville, and he also is responsible for massive power outages and multiple deaths. She says that when Lex Luthor tried to stop Clark to save the human race, that Clark then killed Lex! Now the tide has turned against Clark and he hears sirens approaching the farmhouse and Chloe tells him to flee but Clark refuses and Chloe leaves. The authorities question Clark who denies all allegations of wrong-doing as he tells the man he was sent here to use his powers for good. Then the man tells him he appreciates his cooperation and now they intend to run some tests on Clark who immediately tells him there will be no tests. Then SWAT officers enter the room and surround Clark and when one tries to take him into custody Clark brushes him off with a simple arm shrug which sends the officer flying. Then the men open up on Clark with all their weapons and Clark simply stands there as bullets ricochet off him in all directions ruining the room as they fly. Finally Clark has had enough and with a whoosh of air he disappears from the room and catches up to Chloe in her car. He tells Chloe she must flee separately from Smallville as they'll use her knowledge of him to try and find a way to stop him.
Chloe tells Clark the authorities will never stop hunting him and then they hear on her car radio that Clark is now the target of a massive manhunt and that people are being told to stay in their houses after 9PM. When Chloe says she wishes there was a way to make this never have happened Clark tells her the Legion of Superheroes from the future gave him a ring that makes time travel possible and he'll use it to go back two days and then not reveal his secrets. What neither of them knows is that Linda Lake is watching and listening to them from nearby as Clark talks of his plan. Lois is frantically trying to reach Clark by phone when her editor shows her the latest headline declaring Clark as the prime suspect in Lex's death. She runs to the elevator and when the door closes she sees she's standing next to Linda Lake who is on the phone setting up an interview with Katie Couric. When the elevator stops and Lois exits it Linda tells her that people love to tear down heroes as much as they love building them up. Lois storms into Tess Mercer's office to complain about the headline but she's greeted by the authorities. They tell her this is a matter of national security and when she goes to leave an officer tries to taser her but Clark speeds by grabbing Lois and racing with her to the Kent barn. Lois tells him that it's unsafe for Clark there and he tells her he has a ring that will undo everything that's happened and Lois explains it will be her and the world's loss. But Clark is resolute and heads to the toolbox where he hid the Legion ring, but when he opens it he finds Kryptonite inside which makes him collapse on the ground. Then Linda Lake appears and knocks Lois out with a board and as Clark writhes in pain she shows him the Legion ring in her hand!
Chloe has gone to the Isis Foundation and she starts destroying any evidence that is connected to Clark when Davis stumbles in the room telling Chloe that when Brainiac possessed her she said he was sent here to destroy the other Kryptonian. Then he shocks Chloe by telling her he is also from Krypton and Chloe realizes that Davis is Doomsday and he says that Clark's presence in the city keeps drawing him there as he was created to kill Clark. Then Davis' eyes turn red and bony protrusions spike out of his forehead as he tells Chloe to run in a voice that's already a growl. As she runs for her car she phones a message to Lois telling her that Davis is Doomsday and she must warn Clark. But she never gets the chance to drive away as Doomsday rips her car door off its hinges as she gapes in fear! Linda Lake stands over Clark telling him how she'll use the ring to travel through time and become famous from knowing the future before it happens. As she gloats Lois awakens and tackles her from behind and then uses her army brat background to beat the gossip columnist unconscious. Clark tells Lois to get rid of the Kryptonite and she throws it away and then he retrieves the ring that was knocked from Linda Lake's hand. Lois gets Chloe's message about Doomsday and before she can tell him he dons the Legion ring and with a flash he appears two days earlier in the Kent barn.
He runs to Metropolis where he finds Linda Lake just starting the story that will expose him and he shows her a story he's already written which will expose her as a multiple murderer ruining any credibility she may still have and he tells her she's going to jail. Before she can escape Clark rips an electrical cable from a nearby box and jams it into her as she tries to change into her water form but she can't and then collapses at Clark's feet as he tells her no one can ever know his name. This time Clark picks up Lois at the airport and as they enter the Planet she says if he wants to talk about their near kiss at the wedding he can meet her tonight at a café and if he doesn't show then she'll assume he doesn't want a relationship with her. Later Clark meets Chloe and tells her of the adventure that now never happened and she suggests that Clark try assuming a completely different identity when he needs to use his powers and then go back to being just plain Clark Kent. But Clark is resolved that Lois should never know his secrets and the world's not ready for him yet. Then he tells her he destroyed the Legion ring as time travel is too dangerous an ability to have, and Chloe wonders what has changed now that Clark has tampered with time.
This time we see Davis in the pharmacy at the hospital and the nurse enters and tells him there's a patient looking for him. He enters the criminal containment room with his key-pass and finds Linda Lake there who tells him she knows his secret of turning into a beast. He warns her she doesn't understand what she's dealing with and she tells him she'll expose him if he doesn't free her. As his eyes start to turn red he walks over to Lake and takes her pillow from under her head and holds it over the woman who's helpless due to the electrical cuffs being used on her. She struggles for mere seconds before dying and he takes the pillow from her face and realizes he has killed again. He leaves the room and throws away the anti-psychotic drugs he might have otherwise taken which would have stopped Doomsday from emerging, so now we know one terrible consequence of Clark changing time. Lois sits at the café sipping coffee and hoping Clark will join her but then she gets a text message from him saying he's tied up at work and can't make it but we sees he's really standing across the street watching her. She sends Clark back a text message saying she's chasing a lead and couldn't make it anyway and Clark watches her with regret in his eyes, knowing that lies have now come between them as a result of his secrets.

Roles & Actors this episode:
Davis Bloome: Sam Witwer
Clark Kent: Tom Welling
Tess Mercer: Cassidy Freeman
Jimmy Olsen: Aaron Ashmore
Chloe Sullivan: Allison Mack

Our Story:
Davis Bloome goes to confession and tells the priest of the beast, we know to be Doomsday, inside him that's fighting to get out and hurt people. As he confesses we see him remembering a night where while on EMT duty in Metropolis he found a junkie being bullied by his pusher. He chases off the junkie and pursues the pusher into an alley where he snaps his neck like a twig and he tells the priest that destroying that kind of evil keeps the beast inside him and makes him feel human. The priest counsels Davis to use good to overcome the evil inside him and Davis leaves the confessional feeling no better then when he entered it. At the Kent farm Chloe enters to find Clark dressed in a suit and ready for his workday and she tells him she's heard how Clark is working overtime as the red-blue blur stopping crimes. Clark shows Chloe how he uses his super-speed to keep from being recognized and then he shows Chloe how fast he changes from his red jacket and blue shirt and back into his suit, albeit with a sloppily tied tie to show Clark's dual identity routine still needs a little work. Chloe reminds Clark that Tess Mercer received all of Lex Luthor's files on him when he died and Clark tells Chloe to concentrate on Jimmy who is still shaken up badly after Doomsday assaulted him at his and Chloe's wedding.
Chloe tells Clark that now that Jimmy's been transferred to Metropolis General Hospital things are looking up, but then we see that Jimmy's in his hospital room pushing his pain medication button over and over again. Chloe enters telling Jimmy that the dosage is pre-set and he won't get more pain killer then the device allows. Chloe's worried about Jimmy's mental state but he says he just wants to go home and the fact they survived the attack tells him they were meant to be together. The couple hugs but we see that the expression on their faces shows more concern then they're willing to admit. That night Jimmy has a nightmare of Doomsday's attack at the wedding and he awakens badly shaken and again frantically pushes his pain-killer button but again gets no relief. He goes into the hallway looking for a nurse but he finds a drunken man who begs Jimmy to help him and then the man runs for the elevator. He reaches the elevator door but another man jumps him there putting a plastic bag over his head suffocating him. Then as the elevator door closes on the two men the killer turns and Jimmy clearly sees that it's Davis Bloome who just killed the man as he watched! Clark walks up to his desk at the Daily Planet but Tess Mercer appears and grabs Clark's knapsack that holds his red-blue blur outfit causing Clark to make an excuse that the knapsack hold his dirty gym wear as he takes it back from Tess. She tells Clark she's taking him to the West coast for the announcement of her Mercer Media Group and she says this will be Clark's big break as a reporter.
Chloe enters Jimmy's room to find him pacing back and forth and he tells her he saw Davis kill a man last night, but then Davis enters the room saying he was questioned by the police and released. He tells Jimmy he killed no one and that he and the staff were looking for a drunk driver who was involved in a fatal accident. He says that he found Jimmy wandering around the halls under the influence of too much morphine and he tells Jimmy he must have hallucinated the whole event. Jimmy denies that but Davis then leaves Jimmy and Chloe alone with a seed of doubt about Jimmy being planted. Chloe runs after Davis to apologize for Jimmy's accusation and she admits to him she blames Jimmy's injuries as a result of him getting involved with her. She starts to cry and Davis hugs her to comfort her and we see Jimmy watching this from his room and now another seed of doubt has been planted but this time in Jimmy about Chloe. Clark and Tess enter the Queen Industries jet, as Queen Industries and Luthorcorp have merged, for their trip to L.A. and the captain tells them there's a west coast storm which may cause them to divert elsewhere. Tess then tells Clark about Lex having had spy hardware put in her body which she recently had removed and Clark says he knows what Lex has put her through. Tess tells Clark that Lex was obsessed with him and kept a journal about Clark but she won't reveal what Lex wrote in it. Clark then suggests they break into Oliver Queen's cache of expensive champagne and he goes to find it.
That night Jimmy sneaks from his room and he enters Davis' ambulance and he finds the drunk driver's body stashed under a bench. Davis enters the ambulance and Jimmy confronts him about his discovery and Davis says the man killed a mother and her child while driving drunk and maybe his death isn't a bad thing. Then he tells Jimmy the drugs he's on are causing hallucinations and before Jimmy can deny it, Davis plunges a needle into Jimmy's neck knocking him out. Later Jimmy wakes up back in his bed and this time he enters the hallway to find Chloe fleeing for her life and she runs away from him. Jimmy chases her to a room where he sees Doomsday inside it and the beast bloodily kills her while Jimmy screams and fights to enter the locked room. Then we see Jimmy surrounded by Davis and other hospital personnel who only see Jimmy banging on the door of an empty room and they subdue him as Chloe walks up to witness this and now she truly fears for her husband's sanity. Back on the jet Clark and Tess have gone through two bottles of champagne and Tess marvels at Clark's seeming ability to not be affected by the alcohol which he plays off to a strong metabolism. Then Tess confesses to Clark that her father was an alcoholic who beat her badly and then Tess says she saw Lex's room devoted to Clark and between crushed cars and mushroomed bullets she feels he has secrets too, which Clark denies.
The awkward moment is broken by a shattering sound and the jet lurches badly and when Clark approaches the cockpit door he tears a corner of it away with his great strength and sees that the cockpit is a twisted wreck and there's no sign of the pilot! Tess opens a locker finding two parachutes but when she goes back to Clark she claims there are no parachutes on board the damaged plane. Tess starts to choke from lack of oxygen and Clark has her put on one of the masks that have dropped from the ceiling but then he pinches the line behind her causing her to black out. Then he punches the aircraft door with one mighty swing and scoops Tess up in his arms and leaps with her into the open sky just before the crippled aircraft explodes in a huge blast! Back in Metropolis Davis Bloome finds a would-be burglar trying to break into an office but when he kicks a bottle on the ground the man runs off. Then Jimmy appears behind Davis and hits him with a pipe stunning him and Jimmy then pulls out two pairs of handcuffs and chains Davis to the two sides of a gate he lies between. He tells Davis he knows he wasn't hallucinating the body he found and he says he's called Chloe to the scene and he saw Davis and Chloe embracing earlier and he thinks Davis wants his wife. Davis starts to become Doomsday and he tears one of the handcuffs off the gate and Jimmy prepares to hit him with the pipe again, but Chloe comes up behind Jimmy and uses a taser to knock her husband out.
Davis has spikes coming from his hands and face but Chloe, who is behind him and can't see this happening, puts a hand on his shoulder and tells him he's safe now and Davis' transformation into Doomsday ceases and he returns to normal. He turns to Chloe who has stopped his inner beast from appearing and he tells her she has saved him. The next day Clark enters the Luthor mansion to find Tess who says all she remembers is waking up in a Phoenix emergency room with Clark standing over her. Clark says he found a parachute that Tess must have missed and he used it to get them safely out of the aircraft and when Tess asks how many parachutes he found Clark says only one so now Tess knows he's lying as she saw two in the locker on the jet. She tells Clark she thinks of him as a knight to her rescue and she says she's not like Lex Luthor and Clark can trust her. She also says the pilot's body wasn't found and she feels badly that they survived and the pilot didn't, and then Clark leaves after telling her he's glad she's all right. Later at the Kent farm Clark tells Chloe he thinks Tess might suspect his secrets but he feels she isn't like Lex and maybe can be trusted. Chloe thinks Clark's ability to only see the good in others may prove to be a handicap but she tells him she has to go and get Jimmy who's being released from the hospital. Clark asks how Jimmy is and Chloe says she thinks the worst is behind him and their future together looks brighter now.
Chloe goes to the hospital where a nurse gives her a bottle of painkillers for Jimmy explaining they're very powerful and he should take no more then three of them a day. But as they leave Jimmy snaps at Chloe that he can take care of himself and he's tired of her taking first Clark's side in things and now Davis'. He says it's plain to him now that Chloe simply doesn't trust him and she never has. His voice getting louder he tells her that he feels that marrying her was the biggest mistake in his life and he's done with her. A guard tells Jimmy to calm down and he tells the man he's leaving and he stalks from the hospital leaving Chloe in tears. Jimmy then goes to the Daily Planet telling a security guard he quits and he throws his press pass on the floor as he leaves a file he's compiled on Davis Bloome on Tess Mercer's desk. Clark is now back at the Planet and when he gets a Police alert on his desktop he races into a phone booth in the building and changes into his red-blue blur outfit of red jacket and blue shirt and then speeds off to fight the good fight.
Next we see Tess in the Luthor mansion giving a suitcase of cash to the pilot we thought killed on the jet and she wishes him a happy new life. And now we see Jimmy sitting in his car in the pouring rain and he swallows four of the painkillers at once and races through a red light, his life spiraling out of control more and more. Next we see Chloe in her apartment crying her heart out wondering what has happened to her life, and outside her apartment in the rain stands Davis Bloome looking up at Chloe's apartment. He's now convinced that Chloe represents his last chance at redemption for his past deeds and prevention from releasing the beast inside him.

Our Story:
Chloe is feeling alone at her own birthday party when Oliver Queen gives her a copy of the book "Tales of the Weird and Unexplained" that Clark sent her as he's away. She tells Oliver she can't quite figure out how her life has gone so far off track between Jimmy leaving her and how she's no longer on her chosen career path of journalism. She tells Oliver she wishes she could be doing as well as her cousin Lois seems to be doing and Oliver tells her he detects jealousy. Lois walks over to them and tells Chloe how the Daily Planet's flying her first class to cover a story in Mexico and it only serves to illustrate her point. Oliver gets a page and leaves just as a young lady dressed in a top hat, tuxedo tailed coat, and fishnet stockings walks up and says she can tell Chloe's not exactly having the best of birthdays. She tells her to make a wish and as Chloe does so, the young lady's eyes sparkle in an almost magical way. Chloe then blows out the candle on her birthday cupcake and heads back for her apartment where she wearily puts her head on her pillow ending what has been a tough day. She wakes up the next day and sliding into her bunny slippers she walks by her mirror and gazes in amazement as she sees not herself, but Lois Lane!
Chloe gets dressed and calls Lois in Mexico asking if everything's okay and Lois says she's fine but Chloe's voice sounds weird to her. Chloe enters the Daily Planet and everyone's greeting her as Lois and a page even brings her dry-cleaned clothes and her morning coffee and Chloe determines to see this event through as her cousin. She sits down at Lois' desk and brings up a web search that yields the name Zatanna, Mistress of Magic just as Clark spots her and greets her as Lois. He asks why she isn't in Mexico and Chloe/Lois says she never made it there and Clark reminds her she called him fives times last night. Hearing that, Chloe/Lois asks him why he couldn't take the time to call Chloe and wish her happy birthday, and he says that Chloe understands his schedule and he thinks that Lois is mad at him for taking Jimmy's side in his breakup from Chloe. Clark explains that Jimmy has it tough with Chloe not believing in him and that quiets Chloe/Lois for a moment. Clark sees an alert about a police stand-off and he's puzzled when he has to prompt Lois to get moving for a change, but not before he cites one of Lois' rules of reporting which he shows her and she's impressed he's actually placed the rules Lois wrote for him in a frame. Oliver Queen is in his office at Luthorcorp as Queen Industries has merged with the late Lex Luthor's firm. The young lady who was at the party walks into his office and introduces herself as Zatanna, and then Oliver realizes she's the daughter of the late John Zatara the world famous magician. She says that her father left all his knowledge in a book that Luthorcorp bought in an auction and she needs Oliver's help to get it back.
She also says she knows enough magic to grant a person one wish only and that makes Oliver think about being responsible for Lex's death, and she adds that her offer ends at midnight and then she disappears when Oliver looks away. Clark tells Chloe/Lois that she's not acting like herself today and when she trips Clark catches her in his arms and she says that Clark's never looked at her this way which makes Clark release her at once. They arrive at the stand-off and Chloe/Lois hears the man, who owns an antique store and is now holding police at bay, ranting in Latin and he's talking about an evil book and Zatanna which causes Chloe/Lois to tell Clark what's happened and that she's really Chloe in Lois' body. She convinces him of her story by dropping secrets that only Chloe would know like "Fortress" and "Zod" and Clark gets the picture real fast. They find the theater that Zatanna is appearing at and Clark tells Chloe/Lois that his life has weirdness happening so often that he sometimes wishes he could just be Clark Kent the reporter. Then he breaks one of the theater doors open with his super-strength and Chloe/Lois remarks that the super side of him is handy at times. They confront Zatanna and Chloe/Lois tells her that she didn't want to literally take over her cousin's life and Zatanna says it was her wish and when she truly doesn't want it anymore the magic will wear off.
Clark asks Zatanna about the antique dealer who is now holding off the police and she says the man simply wished for a better understanding of dead languages and she needed his help to find the book. Clark says the man said the book will bring death and Zatanna says some people are simply too superstitious. Then Zatanna asks what Clark would wish for and she gets that certain sparkle in her eyes again and vanishes. Chloe/Lois and Clark leave the theater and when they see a mugger trying to steal a purse and Chloe asks what Clark's going to do about it, Clark call her Lois and then takes out his cell phone and dials 911! They head back to the Planet with Chloe trying to tell Clark his desire to be just a normal reporter is the wish Zatanna has granted him but he insists she's just plain Lois and he's just plain Clark Kent and nothing else. Chloe takes Clark to the roof where she purposely locks the door behind them and when she tells Clark to open the door he rips the handle straight off it but he says the handle was rusted and needs better maintenance. Then she tells him to use his super-hearing to listen to the sounds of the city and he merely thinks the roof has great acoustics! She gets frustrated and swings a pipe at Clark and now he's sure Lois is cracked and he still just wants to get off the roof and meet his deadline.
Oliver Queen dons his Green Arrow garb and breaks into the Luthorcorp Archives and incapacitates two guards with a gas arrow and then finds the book Zatanna is looking for. Oliver heads for an alley and Zatanna materializes there and confronts the Green Arrow telling him she knows he's really Oliver Queen as he's found the very book she asked Oliver to look for and he admits his double identity. He tells Zatanna he's looked in the book and he feels there are dangerous things in it and she says she needs the book to bring her father back from the dead. Oliver tries to throw the book into a fire that's burning in a drum in the alley but Zatanna magically pulls it to her hands and then uses an incantation to chain Oliver to a transformer post. He tries to tell her that bringing back the dead is too dangerous, but Zatanna simply says "I'm coming Father", and strides away from the helpless Green Arrow. Chloe/Lois and Clark find the antique dealer who is now strapped into a hospital bed and he tells them he tried to warn Zatanna that if she brings her father back from the dead, someone alive will have to die in exchange. Next we see Zatanna on top of the Daily Planet building and as she starts the incantation to bring back her father, wild energies start to swirl around the Daily Planet Globe just as Chloe/Lois and Clark round the corner. Chloe/Lois tells Clark that only he can stop this and she knows that deep in his heart he wants to be the hero she believes he is and now she needs him to take a leap of faith and jump to the Planet's roof.
Clark turns away for a second and when he turns back he sees only Chloe standing there instead of Lois and she tells him to do what's really in his heart. Clark tears off his jacket and crouching down the energy builds around him in waves and he literally cracks the sidewalk with his feet as he leaps to the tall building's top with a single bound. He lands alongside Zatanna and tells her to stop but she says she wants to exchange her life for her father's just as he died saving her. But Clark tells her that the day he lost his father, the world that he knew was ripped away from him forever. Then he had to choose the way he would live with his father gone and that's the only real choice any of us can make when we lose someone precious to us. But Chloe appears on the roof and is suddenly pulled into the magical rift instead of Zatanna and Clark tells her she must honor her father's sacrifice and what would he want her to do? Even though it breaks her heart, Zatanna makes the right choice and lets her father go by reciting the words that close the doorway she's opened and Chloe is thrown back onto the rooftop. The next day Chloe wakes up and this time it's really her own two feet that go into the bunny slippers and Clark enters telling her he's sorry he missed her party and he's thankful that she reminded him of who he really is. She tells him that she hadn't confided in him before about her troubles but she's gained a new perspective on them after seeing the world through Lois' eyes.
She knows Clark's conflicted by not telling Lois his secrets but he must admit she's a part of his life now and he can't let the failed romances of the past haunt him in the present. Clark remarks that the advice applies to her too and she admits that neither of them will profit by looking back at what might have been as it won't allow them to become who they can still be in life. Oliver enters his office to find Zatanna there and she apologizes for tying him up the way she did using words spoken backwards in her magic spell. She tells Oliver there are far more dangerous, powerful, and practiced magicians in the world and if he ever needs help she'll be there for him and she leaves him her card. Clark is back at his desk at the Planet and the real Lois is staring at him and she teases him about the rules of reporting she wrote for him and he framed. She heads out for a date and Clark shows concern but she says it's time for them to start over in their relationship and he agrees a fresh start is best. Oliver meets Chloe at the Isis Foundation and she says that it's time to put the past behind her and she wants to start a new life. She heads into the data center and starts the network running and the computer prompts that Aquaman, Black Canary, Cyborg, Impulse, and finally the Green Arrow have put on their earplugs and are online. Then Chloe puts her earplug in and announces that the Watchtower is officially online, and then she says, "Let's get to work". It seems that Chloe has found her calling at last and now she's working with the other heroes and a league for justice has begun.

Co-Starring: Young Davis Bloome: Alex Ferris
Co-Starring: Young Lex Luthor: Connor Stanhope
Davis Bloome/Doomsday: Sam Witwer
Clark Kent: Tom Welling
Tess Mercer: Cassidy Freeman
Chloe Sullivan: Allison Mack

Our Story: Tess Mercer is reading a journal of Lionel Luthor's from the Veritas group that he was a member of and it tells about the day the first meteor storm struck Smallville many years ago. We see meteors raining down on the small town destroying property and people alike. As Jonathan and Martha Kent are driving down a road one strikes in front of them and Pa Kent's truck is forced off the road and crashes. Lionel Luthor runs through a cornfield frantically calling his son's name and finally he finds young Lex buried under a pile of flattened corn stalks and the boy's hair is burnt off and Lex whimpers senselessly as he is in shock. Jonathan and Martha are hanging upside down in their ruined vehicle and they are shocked to see a naked young boy standing outside their truck smiling in at them. This young boy is Kal-El who will grow up as their son Clark Kent. Right next to Kal-El's spaceship lays a still smoking meteor which cracks open like an egg and from it oozes a strange liquid that runs to the ground and the liquid roils and bubbles until it finally takes form as another naked young boy! As she reads, Tess Mercer says aloud that Lionel was too blind to see the truth that this means there was another survivor from the planet Krypton!
At the Daily Planet Clark Kent enters Tess Mercer's office telling her he's written an article about a string of missing persons he says shows that a mass murderer is killing people and he wants Tess to print the story. But Tess tells Clark the article is supposition and has no facts to bear it out and she will not print it and Clark retorts that Tess is purposely burying the story. Tess turns that on Clark telling him that he's the one hiding secrets and that quiets Clark at once. At her apartment Chloe has Davis Bloome preparing dinner and he tells her he never ate this well in the foster homes he grew up in. Chloe tells Davis that Jimmy doesn't want any contact with her and she wonders if she ever really knew Jimmy at all. Davis cuts himself on a kitchen knife but when Chloe looks at his cut it's already healed and he claims the cut never happened. Then Clark enters and he's shocked to see Davis with Chloe and that makes Davis nervous so he leaves begging off dinner for the night. As he leaves Davis starts to get pains that usually trigger his change into Doomsday. Next we see a man in a field leaving with a shovel he's been using. As he enters his car and drops his sweatshirt hood we see the man is Davis and he gets a call on his cell phone. He answers it and turns his headlights on and he sees Tess Mercer standing in the field. She takes a detonator she's carrying and as she looks at Davis she hits the button and his vehicle explodes into a massive fireball!
Chloe is helping Clark research his article and she's shocked by the amount of people who've gone missing. Clark tells Chloe he thinks Davis is trouble as he's collecting murder photos in his locker and he's the first E.M.T. who always shows up first at a murder scene. Then Chloe sees on her computer that a burned out vehicle has been found in a field just outside of Smallville and the license plates match Davis'! We now see Davis waking up in a bed and he's covered completely in bloody bandages but still alive. Tess Mercer is in the room and she apologizes that Davis is so badly injured as she hoped the explosion would kill him. She tells him he's safer with her as the world would not forgive him for being a serial killer. She tells him it's not his fault for being a killer as he was born to it and she shows Davis the journal Lionel Luthor kept while telling him that when the meteors struck that day in Smallville there were two boys who fell to Earth. As she talks we see young, naked, and frightened Davis in the cornfield behind the spaceship as he hides and watches Ma and Pa Kent taking Kal-El home. Then a black clad tactical squad appears and spots Davis and the boy runs away from them but they end up herding him into a cage and take him away. Next we see young Lex Luthor in his mansion and he comes across Davis Bloome locked in a room and he unlocks the door and enters. Young Davis asks Lex if he's cold as he's wearing a wool cap and then Davis removes the cap to see that Lex is completely bald. Then Davis notices the "Warrior Angel" comic book that Lex carries and he asks if Lex is that character and Lex says he's not but he wants to be the hero in the book.
Lex introduces himself as Alexander and Davis says he doesn't even know his name and that a man bought him to the house and made people stick him with needles to which Lex responds he doesn't look sick. Then Davis shows him a Warrior Angel action figure and then Lex asks if he wants to play with him and the two boys leave the room to have some fun. We now return to present day and the same room young Davis was locked in is the same room he's in now. Tess explains that a search party was sent to find him which they did but Lionel thought that Davis was the prophesied "Traveler" sent to save mankind but he never knew Clark was the actual boy of legend who the Kents spirited away. Clark and Chloe arrive at the field where Davis' truck exploded and the tow truck operator tells them no one was found in the vehicle. Clark tells Chloe that this field is the very one were he came to Earth in his rocket ship. Then Clark uses his x-ray vision and he is shocked as he tells Chloe that dozens of bodies are now buried in the field! Davis awakens in his bed and now we see his body has healed all the wounds from the explosion and he dresses and wanders the mansion until he reaches the door to the study. His memory takes him back to when he and Lex were having a play sword fight and Lex pretends he's St. George the Dragon Slayer and he tells Davis he must kill Davis who is the dragon. He pretends to kill Davis and then he opens the box on the desk he says was made from St. George's armor as it's his reward for slaying the dragon.
When he opens the box we see it contains a glowing chunk of Kryptonite and suddenly Davis collapses in pain so Lex closes the box. Now his mind returns to present day and he realizes that the Kryptonite may be the only way to kill himself. He turns around to see Tess who tells Davis that his destiny is to play the role of Judas as he was to Jesus. She says he and Clark are destined to kill each other and then when Clark returns from the dead he will be hailed as the savior of the world. Davis gets angry and his eyes glow red and he swats Tess with the back of his hand sending her sprawling across the floor unconscious. Clark and Chloe enter the Daily Planet and Clark says that Davis has blackouts and disappears and she must now know he's the serial killer preying on the city. Chloe admits she was in denial over Davis and Clark reminds her that she doubted Jimmy and took Davis' side. Clark says he's checked and found that all Davis' victims were criminals and Chloe wonders if Davis is some kind of vigilante. Then she says that she's found that someone else has been looking into Davis' past and she thinks it's time for them to talk to Tess Mercer. Tess is in a hospital room recovering from Davis' attack and she tells her aide to find Davis or don't return. Then Clark enters telling Tess he knows she's been investigating Davis. Tess tells Clark that Lionel had the boy taken because he thought he was the Traveler and he and Lex were so avid to possess the boy that they didn't realize that both Clark and Davis landed that day on Earth.
Tess says that when Davis' tests all came up normal after five days he had Davis abandoned on the street and then he called Martha Kent telling her, "I have the wrong boy". She says that then Lionel arranged for Clark's adoption papers for the Kents so he could keep an eye on Clark who was the true Traveler of legend. At the Isis Foundation Chloe is studying pictures of Davis's victims when Davis himself enters the room. He tells Chloe he only killed bad people and he loves her and he hopes she cares for him as he needs her to do something for him. Chloe says she doubted Jimmy and she won't do anything for him but he shocks her by asking for her help to kill himself! Clark enters the foundation to find signs of a struggle and then he sees on a monitor a layout of Dr. Grohl's lab where Clark was held prisoner by Lex Luthor and the lab contains liquid Kryptonite. Clark knows this must be where Davis took Chloe and he super-speeds from the room to race to the lab. At that moment Davis stands in the same cage Clark was held in and he tells Chloe it's time but she says she can't bring herself to kill him. He begs her to pull the lever which will release the liquid Kryptonite into the cage but as she puts her hand on the lever Clark speeds into the room stopping her and Davis tells Clark it's his life to end if he chooses.
Davis tells Clark he can no longer live with himself but Clark says they should have been brothers and he always wondered what would have happened if the Luthors had found him. Davis says Clark was destined for greatness and he was sent here to destroy him and then he starts to change into Doomsday and at that Chloe pulls the lever releasing the liquid Kryptonite into the cage. Clark falls to the floor gasping in pain from the Kryptonite as it douses Davis from head to toe. As Davis starts to die he remembers the night one of Lionel Luthor's men dropped him off in the middle of nowhere telling the young boy he's just doing what he was told. But before the limousine can pull away, for the first time Davis turns into Doomsday and we see the creature's huge fist breaking into the car window. In the present now we see Chloe drag Clark away from the cage and she walks over to it and presses her hand against the glass and as Davis dies he presses his hand to hers. The next day Clark enters Chloe's apartment asking after her and he explains that Oliver Queen has arranged for any details concerning Davis to be seen to. Clark looks at the Kawatche Indian cave drawing of the symbol for Doomsday and he says Jor-El told him that Doomsday was the ultimate destroyer.
As he throws the picture into Chloe's fireplace he says it wasn't much of a fight after all. He wonders how his life would have been if no one had ever found him that day and he also wonders what it must have been like for Davis knowing no matter what he did in life he was doomed. Later at the Kent farm Clark is working in the barn when Tess Mercer comes in and says she feels that Clark won't fulfill his destiny until he meets his greatest challenge. Clark denies that he's anything but normal and Tess says the day will come when Clark will come to her. He walks out saying that day will never come but when he leaves Tess says the day will come sooner then he thinks and she calls Clark Kal-El, so we know that Tess is assured of who Clark really is. Tess returns to the mansion where we hear ghostly voices in the air and she takes a briefcase out that holds a blue stone with a pentagonal etching in it which holds four diamond shaped white stones on the surface. Obviously Tess has insight to Clark's origins that go beyond Lionel's journal but we will have to wait for another day to discover what the object means. That night Chloe enters the Talon coffee shop where her apartment is on the second floor and she hears someone downstairs in the basement and she goes to investigate. She is shocked to find Davis who tells her the meteor rocks only made him stronger and he now realizes he is immortal. Chloe fears for Clark's safety but Davis says that being around her for some reason keeps the beast inside him from emerging and he asks if she will stay with him. Chloe walks up the stairs and bolts the door closed while she's still inside with Davis and to protect Clark, it seems she has now made a deal with the devil. But as literature and legend have shown, the devil always gets his due and that day will come for Chloe as it has for so many others.

Lois stops to caress her tired feet which are hurting from the high heels she's wearing and then she hears Chloe calling for help. She runs up to Chloe's car to see two men trying to carjack Chloe and one knocks Chloe down and out on the pavement so Lois uses her Army brat defensive skills and kicks one man down and then the other. The first man gets up and takes off in Chloe's car with her laptop inside it while Lois hold the other man down with a sharp boot heel to his throat. The dazed crook asks if she's some kind of superhero and Lois replies yes she is and her name is Stilleto! Chloe is at the emergency room and she phones Davis Bloome assuring herself he's still hidden in the basement of the Talon coffee shop and then she tells the Doctor that despite her attack she's fine and she goes to leave when Clark arrives. Chloe tells Clark she's been busy with her duties as the Watchtower liaison which is the computer network she started to help Oliver Queen and his super-powered companions fight crime.

Clark arrives at the Planet and tells Lois the stolen laptop has files on all of Chloe's patients at the Isis Foundation she runs for meteor-infected people seeking help dealing with their powers. Clark sees that Lois already has written a story about Stiletto and Lois says she even has the super heroine's phone number and the story is exclusively hers so if he wants to help Chloe she advises Clark to look into the mugger that was captured by Stiletto and turned over to the police. Jimmy Olsen is working as a bartender at the Ace of Clubs nightspot in Metropolis and we're surprised to see the mugger who escaped with Chloe's laptop enter and have Jimmy pour him a drink. His name is Bruno Manheim and suddenly he's called into a meeting with the mysterious owner of the club. Before he leaves the bar Jimmy asks for an advance on his pay and Manheim tells Jimmy it's a one-time favor and he enters the back room where his boss awaits him.
Manheim enters the room where we see his boss Mr. Milano is running a money counterfeiting operation using Kryptonite ink to make the money and Milano is displeased that Manheim's committing petty crimes while he's printing more money then Bruno could possibly steal. Manheim rants that he's just showing the people of the city that organized crime owns the streets and not a bunch of caped heroes. Milano angrily orders Manheim to obey him and Bruno's response is to take out a gun and shoot Milano to death and take over the syndicate making the death of Stiletto his first order as boss! Lois has sewn a costume of patent leather complete with cape and mask and she has Jimmy meet her in an alleyway to take pictures of her as Stiletto. Jimmy is skeptical but Lois explains she is using the Stiletto identity to hopefully land her an interview with the "red-blur blur" that's been fighting crime in the city. She figures when the red-blue blur answers a call on the police scanner, she'll meet him as Stiletto and get her exclusive interview. She tells Jimmy to e-mail the photos to her editor and now Jimmy is more then skeptical; he's convinced Lois is just plain crazy. Clark meets Chloe at the Isis Foundation telling her that the man who Stiletto caught posted bail immediately and Stiletto is now their only lead to her laptop. Chloe shows Clark a website started about Stiletto with bloggers citing the obvious hook-up of the new super-heroine with the "Red-Blue blur" and Clark insists that romance is not what he's after, just the laptop.
Lois and Clark are at their desks that night at the Daily Planet when a police scanner call comes in citing a silent alarm at a jewelry store and they both make excuses to get away so they can become their crime fighting counterparts. Jimmy arrives at the Ace of Clubs where Bruno Manheim spots his camera and grabs it from Jimmy. He sees the pictures of Stiletto Jimmy has taken and demands to know where she can be found but Jimmy claims no knowledge of her. Bruno and his man A.J. beat Jimmy mercilessly but he still won't talk and when Jimmy finally is knocked out Bruno tells A.J. to go see Chloe who he's also found on Jimmy's pictures and he orders another henchman to hack into the laptop that was stolen as it may lead to Stiletto. Lois dressed as Stiletto has arrived at the jewelry store to find a window broken out and when she turns a corner she finds the burglar wrapped in a pipe twisted like a pretzel so she knows the red-blue blur has already been there. But then Clark shows up and immediately recognizes Lois under her Stiletto guise and advises her to give up trying to find the red-blue blur. He mentions the thug who was bailed out and Lois tells Clark the attorney who helped free the crook works for Milano who is the biggest crime boss in the city. Clark tells Lois he'll find Milano but he insists she drop the Stiletto story as it's untrue and they part company. A.J. goes to the Talon and grabs Chloe as she comes down the stairs from her apartment. When she says she knows nothing of Stiletto, A.J. puts a knife to her throat and starts to cut her to teach her not to cross Milano. Suddenly A.J. is grabbed from behind by Doomsday and is dragged into the darkness screaming and we hear the creature growling as it attacks A.J. brutally.
Later, Lois enters Chloe's apartment and Chloe hides her knife wound with a scarf around her neck as Lois confesses she's Stiletto and she needs to find Jimmy to erase the pictures he took of her as the super-heroine. Chloe says that Jimmy is working at the Ace of Clubs and after Lois leaves we see Chloe's concern over the havoc that hiding Doomsday in her basement has wrought as it has now resulted in a death. Clark arrives at the Ace of Clubs and using his super-hearing he listens to Manheim as he sees the hero's pictures on the laptop and wonders who these people are. Clark super-speeds into the room intending to retrieve the laptop but his speed causes the fake money to fly around the room and the Kryptonite ink in the bills weakens him and he collapses to the floor where he sees an unconscious Jimmy laying in the corner! Lois arrives at the Ace of Clubs and she spots Jimmy's broken camera on the ground where Bruno threw it and she heads for the roof. Meanwhile Manheim brutally kicks Clark demanding information and when he finds his press pass he decides Clark must die. Lois has reached the skylight above the room where Clark is being held and she sees Manheim about to shoot him. She puts her mask on and crashes through the skylight kicking a thug aside as she plummets into the room also sending Manheim flying. She runs to Jimmy as Manheim rises and he points his gun at Stiletto and fires. Clark screams Lois' name and uses his remaining strength to dive into the bullet's path and he sustains a bullet wound under his left ribs. Manheim now gets the drop on Lois again but Jimmy has awakened and he fights with Manheim for the gun until Lois comes from behind and knocks out Bruno with a bottle smashed over his head.
Lois tells Jimmy to call the police and she rushes to Clark's side with tears in her eyes seeing her friend injured while saving her. Jimmy runs to her and upon Clark's insistence they drag him from the room unbeknownst to them removing him from the Kryptonite that weakened him. Chloe exits the back door of the Talon with bags containing the remains of Doomsday's latest victim and as she throws the bags in the dumpster she sees the blood that is on her hands and she cries in fear and desperation over what she's become involved in by hiding Davis Bloome. The next day at the Planet Lois enters with coffee and Danish for Clark and she's also made copies for him in hopes of making up for his wound. He congratulates her on her headline about the Mob men being jailed and he also thanks her for saving him but she retorts she is grateful for his taking the bullet meant for her and she promises Stiletto has retired. They tease each other but when the teasing ends they stare at each other with true affection in their eyes and the bond between hero and reporter grows ever larger. Next we see Jimmy using some of the counterfeit money from the mob operation to buy drugs and we know that Jimmy's problems are growing bigger and more life threatening everyday. Clark visits Chloe to return her laptop which he made off with before the police arrived at the Ace of Clubs.
Chloe is upset over her losing it but Clark tells her she just made a human mistake and she vows not to repeat it. He sees Chloe is cooking a massive meal and she lies to him saying she's cooking to relieve her stress which Clark doesn't believe but Chloe insists nothing is wrong. Clark reminds her he'll always be there for her but Chloe remains stoic and insistent there's nothing wrong but after Clark leaves the tears in her eyes show how badly frightened she really is. Back in Metropolis Lois has received a blue letter inside a red envelope inviting her to a spot where a phone rings and she runs to the booth to answer it. Clark is on the other end using a voice modulator to disguise his voice and he tells Lois he's the red-blue blur and he super-speeds her article about him in front of her as proof he's who he says he is. Lois remarks that the "red-blue blur" isn't the best name for him and he says that there's probably a better name out there and if anyone can find it it's her. He tells her she's a great reporter who doesn't need a gimmick or a hero to write a good story and then she says if he ever needs someone to talk to she'll be glad to be the one he calls. Clark tells Lois when he's ready to reveal his secrets to the world, she's the one he'll call and then he hangs up. Both leave the conversation feeling a connection to each other and we know that connection will only grow bigger and bigger as time goes by.

Our Story:
Davis Bloome, who is holed up in Chloe's basement, calls her just as she's getting ready for bed and asks her to come down and visit him and Chloe agrees. As she enters the basement she follows a trail of rose petals and finds Davis has decorated the basement with dozens of candles and she tells him they're only friends but Davis insists they're more then that and they suddenly share a passionate kiss. Then Chloe spots a trail of blood leading around the corner of the basement and she follows it up to a curtain which she sweeps aside with her hand. What she sees is what's left of the shredded upper torso of Clark covered in blood and chained to the ceiling with a crimson "S" painted on his chest in his own blood. Then Chloe jumps awake still in her bed in her apartment; the bloody dream a manifestation of her fears over what Davis is capable of when he turns into the raging killer beast Doomsday!
When Chloe wakes up for real she heads downstairs to the Talon coffee shop where Clark enters telling her that Tess Mercer has splashed Davis Bloome's name on the front page of the Daily Planet naming him the "Cornfield Killer". He says that after Davis' supposed death, another victim was found dismembered and he thinks Davis is still alive but Chloe insists he is dead and the killer from Krypton can no longer threaten Clark. Oliver Queen is meeting with executives at the Ace of Clubs nightclub discussing the new direction he wants to take Luthorcorp in since Queen Industries merged with the company. Jimmy Olsen comes in asking Oliver for a loan and Oliver tells him he knows Jimmy has a drug problem and he'll pay for treatment to get him clean. But Jimmy is in complete denial of his problem and says that Oliver doesn't want to be a friend to him and he leaves. Chloe meets with Doctor Emil Hamilton who is associated with the Isis Foundation where meteor-infected patients find treatment and she tells him that she's hiding Davis Bloome in her basement and that Oliver Queen cannot be involved in helping them to find a cure for Davis' transformations into Doomsday as Oliver killed Lex Luthor and will be unsympathetic. The Doctor says he'll try and after he leaves Chloe turns around to find Davis standing there insisting on knowing who the Doctor was.
Chloe tells Davis that he must stay indoors and Davis says he must stay close to Chloe or he'll be unable to stop Doomsday from manifesting. Chloe tells Davis how Tess Mercer has named him as a serial killer and says if they must leave to escape scrutiny then that's what they'll do. She tells a grateful Davis she'll make preparations to leave Smallville forever that day with him and goes off to do exactly that. Clark visits Oliver telling him that Davis Bloome's grave where Oliver buried him has been opened from the inside and he asks Oliver to protect Chloe from Doomsday. Oliver tells Clark the only way to stop Doomsday is to kill him but Clark says he'll go to his Fortress of Solitude and search for another way to end Doomsday's menace and in the meantime he needs Oliver to safeguard Chloe. Chloe speaks with Dr. Hamilton and he tells Chloe his research shows that intense emotions are all that's stopping Davis from changing into Doomsday and that Davis is therefore a threat to everyone unless Chloe keeps him calm and she says she will. Clark speeds into the room and Chloe says she was speaking to an Isis Foundation patient and then Clark tells her he knows Davis is alive and he hopes to use a crystal from the Fortress to send Davis into the Phantom Zone. Chloe lies to Clark telling him that Doomsday may be in Alaska killing people and then he speeds away to try and find him.
Oliver enters Chloe's apartment to find Jimmy stealing money from her to pay for his habit but before he can do anything Oliver is knocked out from behind by Davis who then knocks out Jimmy taking both men captive! The two men awaken in the Talon's basement tied to chairs and Jimmy tells Oliver that Davis is their captor and then Davis appears telling the two men he'd never hurt Chloe. Chloe calls Davis who tells her he's holding two burglars in the basement and he says as soon as they leave Smallville they'll be released but she must hurry home as he feels Doomsday trying to free himself. Jimmy taunts Davis telling him Chloe will never really love him and Davis says one of them has to die to satisfy the beast in him and Jimmy insists he should die as he's lost everything anyway. Davis starts to crush Jimmy's skull but Oliver screams that Chloe would never forgive him for killing Jimmy and Davis agrees and starts to choke Oliver telling him he'll have to be the one that dies. Just then Clark's super-speeds into the Talon calling for Chloe and his super-hearing picks up Oliver being choked downstairs. He bursts through the cellar's steel door and rams Davis into the boiler demanding to know where Chloe is. Then Clark grabs Davis bodily and super-speeds out of the room carrying him away in a blur.
Chloe arrives at the Talon to find Dr. Hamilton taking Jimmy away for treatment and Jimmy tells Chloe she must stay away from Davis. Then Oliver tells Chloe she's crossed a line by harboring Davis and that Clark took him and hopefully will put an end to the menace Davis represents to the world. At the Fortress of Solitude Clark tells Davis he must let Chloe out of his life for her own good and he intends to send Davis into the Phantom Zone. He grabs the black crystal Brainiac used to send him to that barren world but Davis speeds at Clark knocking him away from the console. But Clark in turn punches Davis through a crystal construct and grabs the black crystal and rams it into the console opening up a portal to the Phantom Zone. The two survivors of the planet Krypton grapple with each other, but Chloe arrives using the disk from Clark's spaceship and she takes the black crystal from the console closing the portal. She tells Clark that banishment for Davis would be a failure for Clark and he'd never forgive himself for giving up on Davis. Then she takes the spaceship disk and uses it to teleport Davis and herself away leaving a shaken Clark behind.
The next day Jimmy visits Oliver asking after Chloe but Oliver says no sign of her or Davis has yet been found. Then he hands Jimmy a check telling him it's his first paycheck as Oliver wants Jimmy to work for him. Jimmy is reluctant but Oliver convinces him that there's a person worth saving inside him and Jimmy shakes Oliver's hand starting the long journey of recovering his life. Oliver finds Clark at the Isis Foundation using its computer network to try and find Chloe and Oliver tells him he's wasting his time as all his resources can't find her either. He tells Clark that a hero must eventually make the tough decision that he can't save everyone and he must face that fact. Oliver leaves and Chloe calls Clark insisting that fleeing with Davis is something she's doing to preserve Clark's safety. She says that Clark taught her that making a sacrifice for the greater good is the right thing to do and she hangs up on Clark. Clark is so frustrated that he rams his fist into a file cabinet crushing it like a tin can. Then we see Davis telling Chloe they have to get on the road to make the border that night and Chloe says, "Let's disappear", and they drive away together, their destinies hopelessly intertwined for better or worse.

Our Story:
Tess Mercer is in her office at the Daily Planet talking to someone on the phone about "waiting for the team", when Clark Kent enters the room. Clark tells Tess that starting a massive manhunt for Davis Bloome using the Daily Planet is reckless and will only put more people in danger. And his greatest concern is for his friend Chloe who's been trying to keep Davis from changing into the beast Doomsday by the calming influence she has on him when she's close by. Tess tells Clark she knows as well as he that it's his destiny to stop Davis and he may well have to resort to killing to do so. Clark's face shows that as a real concern that he's thought of also, but then his super-hearing picks up Chloe's voice calling for Clark to help her and he super-speeds from the room which doesn't surprise Tess at all. We see Chloe running through a forest screaming Clark's name and she falls but keeps getting up and running in mortal fear for her life. She stumbles onto a road that runs through the woods right into the path of an oncoming truck and she screams at her imminent death, but Clark whooshes through grabbing her from the truck's path. After a second Chloe realizes it's Clark holding her and she cries on his shoulder in relief. But nearby in the woods we see two men and two women in black leather clothes watching, and one creates a ball of lightning in her hand while saying that Chloe has been found and the other women remarks it's time for them to make their move!
Clark takes Chloe back to the Kent farm in Smallville where she tells him of a motel she and Davis were staying at just outside of Metropolis and how Davis refused to let Chloe leave him. Then one night they stopped at a gas station and she used the moment to run away from him as far and as fast as she could. Chloe tells Clark that as long as Davis is alive no one is safe and she wants him to destroy the beast Davis has inside him as she feels there's no good left in him. One of the four people we saw in the woods has been found by the rest of his team and the man has been ripped apart. Tess enters and the girl called Livewire explains how she and the dead man they call Neutron found Davis and he attacked them killing the man despite their powers. The other man calls himself Parasite and he boasts how he could have stopped the beast but Tess chides them all for forgetting that their first duty is to keep each other alive as that's how they've been trained. Livewire demands to know the "Traveler's" identity if they are to help and the girl called Plastique reminds her how Tess turned all their lives around for the better. But Livewire in unconvinced and says she's leaving but at a look from Tess the man called Parasite grabs the girl literally sucking her electrical power from her and making it his own.
Tess tells Plastique and Parasite to go find Davis and they leave with Livewire asking Tess what's next for her? Clark is now at Luthorcorp which Oliver Queen's co-running with Tess and he tells Clark that his team of the Black Canary, Impulse, and Cyborg are all actively looking for Davis. Clark tells Oliver that he needs Oliver to steal a piece of black Kryptonite that Tess Mercer keeps with all of Lex Luthor's collection of Kryptonian artifacts. Oliver agrees and tells Clark they sometimes must get their hands dirty and then Clark shocks us with the statement that they need to kill Davis Bloome! Clark returns to the farm and heads to the barn where he takes out the Kryptonian crystal that opens a portal to the Phantom Zone and he tells Chloe that his real plan is to use the Black Kryptonite his parents once used on him. It will split Davis Bloome from the beast Doomsday and then Clark will send the beastly side of Davis to the Zone and he lied to Oliver when he said he intended to kill Davis. Chloe thinks it's impossible and wants Davis killed but Clark says that sometimes justice is about saving the last bit of good in someone. Then Clark gets a text message from Dr. Emil Hamilton on his phone telling him that once again, Doomsday has killed someone. They meet Dr. Hamilton in nearby Granville where he tells them that Doomsday's latest victims are a man and a woman who were meteor-infected and now Clark knows that super-powered bounty hunters are on the beast's trail since Tess named Davis as a serial killer.
Dr. Hamilton tells them that the man was killed by Doomsday but the woman was slain by a temporal lobe implant in her brain that was a GPS unit for tracking her and then the device was exploded upon someone's command. He shows them that the woman was marked with a brand of some sort and Chloe says that she has to step outside and when she does Dr. Hamilton tells Clark that Chloe's feelings for Davis are stronger then she's letting on and that's endangering her further. And next we see Chloe meeting up with Plastique and Parasite where we find out she's been working with Tess' team of meteor-infected hunters and she tries to convince them that Tess killed Livewire but they don't believe Tess would do that to them. Oliver visits Tess trying to get her to drink a bottle of wine with him and take the afternoon off but Tess is having none of it. When he leaves we see he's used a device to electronically lift her fingerprint from the wine bottle to use for his foray into the Kryptonian artifacts room. Clark catches up to Chloe at the Isis Foundation where she confesses that she used the foundation computers to hack into Tess' files and she was working with the team of meteor-infected ex-inmates of the Luthorcorp Black Creek Montana facility to find Davis Bloome. Suddenly Chloe grabs her head and collapses on the floor and then dies but when she does she morphs back into her true self of Eva Greer, Tess' meteor-infected shape-shifter!
Dr. Hamilton arrives telling Clark that Eva was branded as all inmates of Black Creek were and now Clark knows its Tess killing her team and he asks Dr. Hamilton if he can isolate the frequency their lethal GPS devices work on and he thinks he can but he warns Clark that cornering Tess could get the team and Chloe killed by remote control. Clark uses Dr. Hamilton's tracking device to find Plastique and he tells her about Tess having the deadly devices implanted in them. Plastique swears she'll make Tess pay and Clark goes to stop her but the Parasite comes from behind and leeches Clark's power from him. Then he grabs Plastique and using Clark's power he super-speeds the two of them away from a powerless Clark. In his Green Arrow guise Oliver has broken into Lex's mansion and he enters Tess' bedroom where he finds the hidden Kryptonian artifacts safe and he uses the fingerprint he lifted from Tess to gain entry. Tess is coming down the hall as she tells an aide to contact her the moment Parasite and Plastique are found. She enters her room and finds a naked Oliver Queen in her bed pretending that was his purpose in being there. She refuses Oliver's advances and then the wall explodes with the entrance of Plastique and the Parasite who tells Tess he used the electrical power he stole from Livewire to fry the deadly GPS chips in their brains. Oliver has been knocked out by Plastique's blast and Tess frantically tries to set the lethal devices off with no success and Parasite knocks her out.
A powerless Clark calls Dr. Hamilton who sends Clark to his expensive sports car so he can use it to get to the Luthor mansion and he must hurry as we next see Parasite has Tess tied to a chair in the mansion den and he's using Livewire's powers to shock her as he rants about Tess killing Eva and Livewire. Plastique tells Tess she wants the password to open the files of all the Black Creek inmates so they can form their own league of power but Tess refuses. Plastique knocks Tess out when Clark enters the den telling them to stop and Parasite picks Clark up by the neck strangling him. But then an arrow flies into Plastique's right shoulder knocking her out and then the Green Arrow drops into the room and he's wearing Lex Luthor's initialed "L" Kryptonite ring! He drops Parasite with the ring's radiation and then body slams him onto the top of the pool table punching him relentlessly. Then when he picks up a ball to brain Parasite Clark shouts for him to stop and let Parasite go. Oliver backs off and the Parasite tells Clark the pain is killing him and Clark tells him to return his power and the Parasite grabs Clark's wrist and returns what he has stolen. Clark looks up to see the Green Arrow with Tess Mercer cradled in his arms as he marches from the room. The next day Clark enters Luthorcorp where he asks Oliver where the Kryptonite ring is and Oliver says it's in a safe place and he thinks Clark should feel lucky Oliver had it in the first place.
He tells Clark that he's had Parasite and Plastique placed in enforced rehab where they cannot escape and then Oliver shocks Clark by telling him that he took the ring from Lex Luthor after he killed him. Oliver hands Clark the black Kryptonite in a lead box telling him that he suffers everyday from the guilt of killing Lex and he hopes Clark won't suffer that way when he finds he must kill Davis Bloome. Clark tells Oliver they're no longer working together and that they must set an example to any who would follow their path if they don't want to end up as bad as the people they must fight. Clark takes the Black Kryptonite back to the barn at the Kent farm where he finds the Phantom Zone crystal has been taken. Tess Mercer is in the barn loft and she tells Clark that having Eva disguised as Chloe revealed the few secrets of his origins she hadn't discovered yet. She insists the deadly microchips malfunctioned and killed her team members but Clark doesn't believe a word she says. Then she tells Clark she's had the Phantom Zone crystal destroyed so Clark will have no choice but to kill Davis Bloome. She says that heroes sometimes must sacrifice their personal morality but Clark says this proves she's no better then Lex Luthor. Tess says she won't abandon Clark like Lex did and she thinks it is his fate to destroy Davis but Clark tells her that Lex taught him that the word fate is used by people who have lost sight of who they are. Tess says that the death of Davis must occur or all of civilization will perish. She head back to the mansion den where she finds the Kryptonian ball artifact she's kept whirring with power as a disembodied voice asks her if Kal-El is ready to fulfill the prophecy. She tells the voice she has destroyed the Phantom Zone crystal as she was asked and the ball grows larger and fills the room with a strange colored energy and the voice then says, "Then you shall be the savior of Kandor." As the strange energy envelops Tess we can only wonder what those words will mean to the last son of Krypton.

Our Story:
Over the skies of Metropolis flies a hero intent upon his mission as he pierces the air in a blur and finally comes to a landing atop the Daily Planet building alighting at the revolving globe's base. It is Cosmic Boy from the Legion of Superheroes that exists one thousand years in the future and he meets Clark Kent atop the famed building to tell him that traveling through time is a risky business as every action that's taken today can possibly destroy the very future Cosmic Boy comes from. Clark reminds him that working together they destroyed Brainiac the living computer from Krypton and therefore saved the future but Cosmic Boy says yes in his time Brainiac is gone, but so is Clark Kent! When Clark chose to save Chloe's life he also preserved her connection to Doomsday the ultimate Kryptonian destroyer, and when she tried to use Kryptonite to kill Doomsday she only made him invulnerable to that substance and now Clark has no way to defeat him. Then Cosmic Boy gives Clark a new legion ring to replace the first one he was given that was destroyed and Cosmic Boy asks Clark to use it to send Doomsday into the future where the Legion stands ready to battle him. He insists that otherwise nothing will stop Doomsday from killing Clark, but Clark thinks that to save mankind it may be unavoidable destiny for him to die saving us from the beast. Clark asks Cosmic Boy how much time he has left and the answer is that tomorrow is the day he dies!
Chloe and Davis Bloome, the man who turns into Doomsday unless he stays near Chloe, are star gazing in Edge City and Davis tells Chloe the legend of Persephone who chose life in the underworld with Hades and the metaphor isn't lost on Chloe as Davis also says he thinks they're going to be able to find a life together. At the Luthor mansion Tess Mercer is led to her bedroom where her aide tells her that the secret vault in the room was blown open from the inside. But Tess is only concerned with the fact that the strange glowing orb that was in the safe and spoke to her last week of a place called Kandor is now missing. She tells her man that countless lives are at stake and she wants every resource used to find it. Clark returns to his desk where he puts the Legion ring away and he writes an article which is a goodbye to the people of Metropolis from the hero they've named Clark, the "red-blue blur". He tells them they've shown him the very best in people and he may have to leave them and he hopes they will remain the heroes he feels they are everyday. Lois comes into the newsroom and she's mad at Clark for writing instead of being out searching for her cousin Chloe. She asks Clark what he's writing but he closes his computer screen and Lois remarks how once again Clark has shut her out. She goes to pour herself some water and when she turns back Clark is gone and her desk phone is ringing.
It's Clark on the line in a Daily Planet phone booth using his phone voice distorter so he can talk to Lois as the red-blue blur and he tells Lois he's been searching for her cousin and he will find her. He also tells Lois he's been keeping an eye on her and she says she doesn't know how she'll ever be able to repay him for what he's doing for her. Clark says he needs Lois to publish a letter for him and he runs by her at super-speed leaving it on her computer and she wants to know what the goodbye letter is all about and he says he can't outrun his destiny but he needs her to publish the letter if anything happens to him. Lois tells the red-blue blur she thought he was invincible and Clark says he thought he was also. She insists on meeting the blur and tells Clark of a certain phone booth in the city and she hopes he'll meet her there at midnight. Later at the Kent farm Clark is joined by Dinah Lance, secretly the crime-fighting Black Canary and Bart Allen whose heroic name is Impulse as he is the fastest young man alive. At Clark's request Bart has obtained schematics of the Luthorcorp/Queen Industries geothermal plant where Clark says miles of tunnels have been dug to tap the earth's thermal power. He intends to get Doomsday into those tunnels and Black Canary agrees to wire the tunnel detonators to explode trapping the beast deep inside the Earth. Clark gives Bart a piece of black Kryptonite he needs Bart to use on Doomsday to split his bestial half from Davis Bloome's human side saving him but Oliver Queen, who is also the Green Arrow, enters asking Clark what happens when that ploy fails. Oliver insists that Davis Bloome must be killed and Clark tells Dinah and Bart that Oliver crossed the line when he killed Lex Luthor and he tells Oliver he's no longer one of them and Oliver leaves.
Jimmy Olsen is now working for Oliver and he breaks into Tess Mercer's office in the Daily Planet to tap into her computer to find Chloe and Davis' location. But Jimmy sits at Tess' desk to find Lois Lane hiding underneath it and when Lois asks Jimmy what he's doing he uses a decryption device he plugs into Tess's computer to find a tracking program that shows Chloe and Davis are near Edge City. He leaves telling Lois to watch the screen but after he goes Lois finds a video of Tess beating an aide at gunpoint, an aide who tells Tess that Lex Luthor had failed in the past to tap the technology of an "orb". Tess says she knows the orb is not from Earth and it called to her saying the life inside it cannot be released until the Traveler kills the Beast. Then the video ends with the aide warning Tess that what she's unleashing could be the end of the world. Back at the Planet Clark gets a message from the Black Canary showing him Davis and Chloe's location and when Clark focuses his super-hearing towards Edge City he hears Chloe screaming Davis' name over the sounds of destruction. He changes into his red jacket and blue shirt that earned him his Metropolis nickname and he super-speeds to the scene truly in a red and blue blur. He finds a smashed car and the Black Canary and Impulse standing calmly at the scene and Dinah tells Clark she's sorry but they couldn't risk losing him. As she speaks the Green Arrow shoots Clark in the back with a Kryptonite dart that drops him to the ground weak and helpless. Oliver walks up to Clark telling him they're just getting him out of the way while they do what must be done and as Clark pleads with them not to, the Green Arrow, the Black Canary, and Impulse leave to kill Davis Bloome!
Lois exits the elevator and enters the newsroom where she's confronted by Tess Mercer and Lois tells Tess she'll do anything to find Chloe. Tess says she intends to fire Lois but what she's more interested in is the location of her missing orb which contains alien technology but Lois denies any knowledge of the item. Lois says Tess just wants to conquer the world but Tess says she's trying to save the world and she makes her point by kicking Lois over to a desktop. Lois tries to leave and Tess again attacks her but this time Lois is ready and she swings at Tess with a punch that barely misses her. The two women grapple each other on top of nearby desks while they swing at each other and exchange hard judo moves while each tries to gain the upper hand. Tess tosses Lois to the floor but the veteran Army brat knocks Tess' legs out from under her with a hard arm sweep and the Daily Planet publisher hits the floor hard passing out. Lois starts to get up but then she spots the Legion ring which has been knocked out of Clark's desk by their fight and she picks it up to examine it. But when she does, she puts a tip of her finger in the ring and activates it and she vanishes in a flash of light! At the Luthorcorp Geothermal Facility, Chloe wakes up on the floor to see Impulse's red backpack and inside it she spots the piece of Black Kryptonite Clark gave the young speedster. The she sees a drugged and bound Davis Bloome lying on the floor at the feet of Green Arrow, Black Canary and Impulse and Bart apologizes for using a tranquilizer to stun her.
She asks where Clark is and then she tells them she realizes they're there to kill Davis and that's why Clark isn't there. The trio defends their actions saying that Doomsday is too dangerous and Davis must die but Chloe insists she can help contain the beast within him and she begs them not to kill him. But Davis is waking up and he tells Chloe that he must die as her presence is no longer able to keep Doomsday from manifesting and then he starts to change into the beast! At Green Arrow's command, Black Canary and Impulse grab Davis but he bats them aside knocking them out and Oliver whips out an arrow to shoots Davis while he's still part human. But Chloe has grabbed the Black Kryptonite and she blocks Oliver's shot as she strikes Davis in the chest with the meteor rock. Davis screams in pain as his bestial half is torn from him and he collapses on the floor and then looks up into the roaring face of his dark side, Doomsday! Jimmy has finally arrived at the site in Edge City and he sees the ruined car and on its other side he spots Clark writhing in pain. He rushes to his friend who tells him to pull the dart out of him and after doing so he holds the dart up for Clark to see and Clark cries out in pain so Jimmy holds it away from him. Then Jimmy sees a wound on Clark's cheek magically heal right in front of him and as the two men stand up Jimmy tells Clark he's some kind of super...guy or something. Clark looks Jimmy straight in the eye and admits that he is the red-blue blur and Jimmy's eyes go wide as he says this explains all the strange things he's seen Clark do like disappearing in seconds and healing from gun wounds overnight.
Clark tells Jimmy he's been right about him and Davis and he was the only person who figured it all out and he's sorry he's had to lie to him. Clark tells Jimmy he needs his help and he wants Jimmy to give Chloe the present that Jimmy got for her when they were married and he needs Jimmy to make sure that Davis and Chloe are safe. At the mention of Davis' name Jimmy hesitates and Clark asks for Jimmy's trust which Jimmy then gives Clark. Clark then super-speeds away right in front of Jimmy as Jimmy proclaims the sight as "so cool". Clark speeds to the geothermal plant where he finds Chloe and the stunned heroes along with an unconscious Davis Bloome. Chloe tells Clark that she split Davis from Doomsday and when Clark asks where the beast is now no one answers so he uses his super-hearing to find him. The sounds of Doomsday's roaring and the screams of people make the search short but not sweet and Clark tells the heroes he'll get Doomsday back there but then they must help to detonate the explosives to trap him underground and the trio says they'll do whatever they have to. Clark races to the streets where he sees the phone booth he was supposed to meet Lois at is empty and he says her name aloud in concern. But he has no more time to worry as suddenly more screams break out and as he turns he sees an urban hell complete with fires and wreckage and with a roar a car is thrown down the street straight at him!
He catches the hurtling vehicle and looks up to see Doomsday holding a little girl up in the air by her neck as her mother tries to exit her car. The woman is swatted aside and thrown straight through a plate glass window and Clark speeds at Doomsday and snatches the girl from him in the blink of an eye as the monster roars in anger over the loss of his prey. Clark puts the little girl down telling her it's okay but she stares over Clark's shoulder in horror as Doomsday comes from behind Clark. Doomsday snatches up Clark throwing him around like a doll as he pummels Clark with his fists and then he rears back and with a tremendous punch of his spiked fist he knocks Clark straight through nearby buildings to crash land blocks away! A bleeding and wounded Clark struggles to rise as he sees Doomsday hurtling through the air to land in front of him like some killer demon. Doomsday roars at Clark in animal ferocity and then he raises his huge fist to strike again but Clark braces himself and jumps up at Doomsday so fast he shatters the pavement under his feet. He grabs the Kryptonian killer and leaps into the air with all his strength and the two combatants fly through the air faster then a speeding bullet. Again we see the geothermal plant as Clark and Doomsday arc down striking the facility like a missile and a tremendous explosion fills the air with a ball of fire that rises high up into the night sky! The next day dawns peacefully in Metropolis as we see Jimmy inside a high building loft with Chloe and Davis who is still knocked out so he puts him on the floor as Chloe asks where Jimmy has brought them.
Jimmy explains the loft was to be his wedding present to her where they could both build a life together and Chloe looks out the window exclaiming that all of the city can be seen from there. Jimmy says he felt that she could always look up no matter where she was in the city and see where their home was. Then he tells Chloe he knows Clark's secret and it explains much of the past and he realizes everything that Chloe has sacrificed for Clark. Chloe tells Jimmy she left him only to protect Clark and in her heart she never left Jimmy. The two kiss and hug each other at this happy revelation and Jimmy tells Chloe they've once more truly found each other and again they kiss. But then Jimmy arches in pain and when Chloe looks into his face she sees blood pouring from Jimmy's mouth and a pipe is sticking straight through his chest! Davis has stabbed through Jimmy from behind and as he pulls the pipe out of Jimmy he tells Chloe he now knows that she never loved him and only went with him for Clark's sake. He comes towards her brandishing the bloody pipe as Chloe says she thought she loved him but then she just wanted to save him. This enrages Davis even more and he screams at Chloe and runs for her with the pipe but Jimmy comes from behind and tackles Davis and shoves him aside where Davis is himself impaled on a jagged piece of construction steel. As Davis's eyes close for the last time Chloe lowers Jimmy to the floor and the last words he ever says to Chloe are, "I'm sorry. I love you.", then the brave young hero dies leaving Chloe's heart broken as she weeps in pain.
The next thing we see is a priest praying over Jimmy's coffin as Chloe weeps in loss and the priest prays aloud of his hope that Henry James Olsen rests in peace. Dinah Lance looks at Oliver Queen who cries over the loss of Jimmy and a young boy wearing a bow tie takes his father's hand leading him away from the coffin but he stops to look back. Chloe approaches the boy and gives him Jimmy's camera telling him it's only right that Jimmy's little brother get his camera and maybe he will follow in his brother's foot steps. The father leads his young son away and we watch James Bartholomew Olsen walk away from his brother's grave and know that the young boy's whole future will unfold from this tragic event. As Bart and Dinah lead Chloe away we see Clark standing away from the ceremony down by the river and he watches as Oliver pauses at Jimmy's coffin crying in loss and then leaves. Clark goes to the building loft where Jimmy died and he finds Chloe who is happy to see Clark alive. He tells Chloe he somehow sped from the blast an instant before Dinah detonated the explosives but he was still too slow to save anyone but himself. He tells Chloe he can find no trace of Lois and Chloe says Lois is thought to be a missing person after Doomsday attacked the city. Clark says he's the reason Jimmy died but it was an all too human Davis who killed Jimmy in the end. He thinks she should leave the loft and never look back but Chloe insists that Jimmy's spirit resides there more then anywhere else and as he'll always be looking down at her from there its true name is now the Watchtower.
Chloe says that Oliver, Dinah, and Bart have all disappeared and they must try to bring them home but Clark then says he has no home. He tells Chloe he now sees that he must stop denying the fact that he isn't human and the human emotional part of him is what has made attachments and kept him from doing what he must with his powers. Chloe says emotions are what have made a hero of Clark but he insists his humanity is just stopping him from being the hero he could be and that's what the world needs now. Chloe asks what he means and Clark says that Clark Kent is dead and then he says goodbye to her and walks out of the loft leaving Chloe in even more pain. At the Luthor mansion Tess Mercer runs to the window as she hears other-worldly voices whispering and she sees a purple light flashing from the infamous missing orb which is now hovering below her. Then a brilliant flash of alien power bursts forth and a hand appears holding the orb and Tess sees the silhouette of a man now standing on her lawn. The man stands in the center of what looks to be a huge letter "Z" burned into the lawn in Kryptonian font style and the voices from the orb now whisper one word at the man, "Zod".
