Our Story:
Clark has confronted the final Phantom Zone wraith and the wraith has flown through Clark's body extracting DNA he uses to form an evil duplicate of Clark for his spirit to occupy. The creature, called Bizarro, has started a fight with Clark under the Reeves Dam complex where Lex has his super-soldier 33.1 lab secreted. John Jones, the Martian Manhunter, has been injured by the wraith and he must leave Earth temporarily to heal so he's unable to help Clark battle Bizarro. Earlier, Lana had left Lex and as Clark had approached her behind the Talon coffee shop her car suddenly exploded seemingly killing her. While Clark battles Bizarro, Lois has entered the secret complex where a guard fatally stabs her and when Chloe finds her she cries onto Lois' body which causes Chloe's meteor ability to manifest itself by using Chloe's life force to heal Lois but apparently killing Chloe in the process. As he flees the destruction of the dam complex caused by Clark and Bizarro's battle, Lex is arrested for Lana's murder and put into a police car on a bridge in front of the dam. As Bizarro punches Clark straight out of the dam and flies after him in pursuit, Lionel Luthor is trapped in wreckage under the collapsing dam's tunnels.
Downstream from the dam, a man and his son fish as their dog patiently watches them. Lois has awoken to find Chloe lying next to her and she drags her cousin to a part of the tunnels that haven't collapsed. Lex sits handcuffed in the police car and suddenly the badly weakened dam collapses completely carrying the bridge and the police car away in a raging torrent of water. Clark crashes into a tree which breaks into pieces from the impact and he jumps to his feet as Bizarro flies towards him and lands. Clark tells Bizarro he must return to the dam to help the people caught up in its collapse but Bizarro's response is to kick Clark into a boulder which smashes to bits. Bizarro tells Clark he's gained all of Clark's memories along with his DNA and he intends to take over Clark's life. When Bizarro punches at Clark, he finds Clark able to block his punch for some reason and Clark uses the chance to punch Bizarro so hard he flies straight through trees and into a power line tower which falls apart around him.
A giant wall of water is rushing downstream towards the man and his son and dog and they try to run as they see certain death racing for them, but the man falls striking his head stunning himself. Just before the water buries them, Clark races in front of them at super-speed and then he uses his heat-vision at full power to blast at the deadly flood. His eyes emit red columns of intense heat and Clark keeps pouring it on until the entire flood is vaporized into harmless steam. Clark looks at the boy giving him a reassuring nod and then he races away in a blur of speed. Lex is submerged in front of the dam and he desperately kicks at the police car windows as the car fills with water. But he's unable to break the windows and he starts to black out as his life fades. But as he loses consciousness, he looks out the car window to see a dreamlike vision of a beautiful young blonde woman wrapped in white who floats in front of him. At the power line tower Bizarro has been impaled through one side of his body to the other and as a ranger approaches the scene to help him, Bizarro pulls his body off of the metal strut and then blasts the hapless ranger with his heat vision burning the poor man alive! As he does this, Bizarro's face keeps changing from Clark's normal one to a cracked and whitened visage which reflects his evil nature.
As Lois drags Chloe's body through the ruined tunnels she finds a glass windowed door where she sees they are completely submerged underwater. Outside the door she sees wreckage and bodies of victims who were caught in the 33.1 lab as it was destroyed. She turns to see a young boy who begs for her help and she tries to reassure the lad. Clark has entered the tunnels looking for Lionel Luthor who we then see has been carried downstream in the flood when the dam broke. An unseen person grabs his arm and drags him away from the now quiet river. As Lois yells desperately for help, suddenly a wall by her breaks open and bathed in the sudden light is Clark who heard her calls for aid. Clark tells Lois he got to her only because the ceiling collapsed in the tunnel causing it to open suddenly. As he sees Chloe's ashen body he is shocked to consider the fact that Chloe may be lost to him. Back at the Kent farm Bizarro has found the Kryptonite Clark kept hidden and he pushes it into the wounds in his sides causing them to heal and restoring his strength while leaving the Kryptonite an ordinary rock. Lex Luthor awakens on the river's edge to see the blonde woman standing over him and then she suddenly flies off at great speed into the heavens leaving a stunned Lex in her wake.
Clark and Lois take Chloe to Smallville Medical Center where trauma unit doctors and nurses frantically work to try and revive her. Clark and Lois are in the hallway waiting for news when Clark asks Lois what happened to them. Lois tells Clark how she was stabbed in her stomach and that she soon passed out from blood loss. And then she felt surrounded by warmth and woke up to find her wound mysteriously healed and Chloe next to her unconscious. Lois tells Clark she's going after Lex Luthor to try and find out more from Lex or possibly Lana. Clark tries to tell Lois about Lana's death but she's too emotional and leaves telling Clark to watch over Chloe. Lex is back at his desk in Luthorcorp and his staff rushes to use a helicopter to get him out of the reach of the authorities. He tells his aide that he thinks he died and that a beautiful angel bathed in light came to him and saved him. Lex then sees his wedding band and tells his aide that Lana was all he was living for and tears well in his eyes at the thought of her being dead. Then he shocks his aide by telling her he's not only not going to run, but he's going to turn himself in!
Lois enters Lex's study at his mansion but finds nothing and then Bizarro shows up and Lois mistakenly thinks he's Clark. Then Bizarro starts to come on to Lois with obvious desire for her to the point where he grabs her inappropriately and Lois slaps him surprised at his behavior so he leaves. Back at the Medical Center the real Clark waits as the doctors and nurses try everything possible to revive Chloe as they keep getting conflicting readings on their diagnostic machines. But after trying everything they know they have no choice but to pronounce her dead! Chloe is lying in a drawer in the morgue as Clark is told of her death by a nurse. As he grieves Chloe bolts awake inside the drawer and starts banging frantically on the door and sides. Clark's super-hearing picks up her cries and he runs into the morgue and slides the drawer open to find a very frightened but alive Chloe. Chloe is shocked to realize she's come back from the dead and she grabs a lab coat to wear. As she does she sees her Death Certificate on a clipboard and underneath her's is Lana's and she now also knows that Lana is dead.
Lex is locked up and his lawyer plays him a very incriminating recording with Lex threatening Lana for leaving him. Lex tells the man he wants to know if all the "models" from the 33.1 lab has been retrieved and the man states that model 503 is still missing. Bizarro walks up and rips the cell door off and then casually thrusts his hand right into the lawyer's stomach ripping out organs and instantly killing him. Lex realizes he's standing in front of the Phantom Zone wraith he has searched for and he asks why the wraith has taken Clark's form. Bizarro tells Lex he's simply used a few cells from Clark to replicate his body and now he wants Lex to give him meteor rocks to kill Clark with. Lex refuses but Bizarro explains that he should help him as he'll be an ally to Lex while Clark has proven to be an enemy. Back at her apartment Chloe is mourning Lana's death and then she asks Clark why the wraith looks like him. Clark explains that replicating a Kryptonian body was the only way the wraith could make himself whole and that everything that effects Clark seems to be the opposite with Bizarro. They realize that Kryptonite only strengthens Bizarro instead of weakening him and Chloe tracks a large shipment of meteor rocks that was sent to the Reeves Dam complex and they know Clark must somehow stop Bizarro from reaching it.
Clark meets a now healed John Jones at the Kent farm and John explains to Clark that Bizarro may be stopped by using the very thing that gives Clark his powers and that's the yellow sun of our planet. Clark remembers that when Bizarro was in direct sunlight his face distorted to the cracked and whitened state and only then could Clark match his strength. Bizarro and Lex have reached the vault holding the meteor rocks and Lex grabs a weapon and tells Bizarro he knows he's an alien and he wants to know where he's from and why he looks like Clark. Bizarro reminds Lex that if he kills him he'll never know the truth about Clark and at that Lex hesitates long enough for Bizarro to knock him out with a simple sweep of his arm. Then he walks into the vault and absorbs all the Kryptonite energy as Clark arrives to see him doing so. Bizarro walks from the vault and tells Clark he doesn't deserve the life he's lead and intends to take it from him. Then he tells Clark to attack as his confidence is as great as his strength now is. Clark leaps at Bizarro with his fist held high for a tremendous blow but Bizarro catches Clark with two fists to his chest which propel him straight through a column.
Clark seems knocked out but the columns collapse has allowed sunlight into the room and its rays heal Clark's wounds and revive him. He taunts Bizarro towards him and the sunlight by asking if that's all he's got and Bizarro takes the bait walking into the sunlit area with Clark. He throws a vicious punch into Clark's jaw but Clark takes the punch and smiles at Bizarro while the wraith's face flickers into the white and cracked state as the sun steals his power from him. Clark swings a powerful uppercut into Bizarro's jaw which hurls him straight out of the room and high into the stratosphere where a red blur suddenly grabs him and whisks him away as Clark smiles in triumph. Later at the Kent farm Chloe enters the house to find Clark listening to a radio report about Lana's death from the car bomb and Lex's capture at Reeves Dam. Chloe turns the radio off and Clark tells her he may be no better then Bizarro as when he heard of Lana's death he sped to the dam complex intending to kill Lex.
He tells Chloe he understands Lex better then ever as he now knows how powerful an emotion hate is and that's what drives Lex to do the things he does. Clark saw his dark side embodied by Bizarro and he now fully realizes he may look human but he's really not. Chloe reminds Clark he may not be from Earth but he was raised as a human and he is subject to the same emotions, good or bad, that we all feel. Then Lois comes in and demands Clark apologize to her and Clark does so with Lois forgiving him even though we know it was Bizarro. She then tells Clark she heard about Lana and she hopes he'll be all right but she also warns Clark to never grab her like that again and then she walks out. That night John Jones tells Clark his father Jor-El would be proud of him for the bravery he showed fighting Bizarro and the responsibility he took for rounding up all the escaped Phantom Zone wraiths. Clark tells John that even though he's tried to resist it, it may now be time for him to follow his true destiny and stop trying to be what he feels he never can be, human.
Chloe is home burning her own death certificate in the sink while we see Lex led back to a cell where he sadly stares at a picture of himself with Lana. Then the scene changes to Shanghai where we see none other then a blonde wigged Lana Lang very much alive as she walks into her room and stares at the same moon Clark is staring at back in Smallville. And also watching the moon from atop a water tower is the mysterious blonde woman who is now dressed in shirt and jeans as she takes a silver bracelet and places it on her wrist. Then she flies into the night sky and speeds over Smallville and quickly past us as another chapter in Clark's life begins.

Our Story:
Lois takes Clark into the woods downstream from Reeve's Dam which was destroyed in the last episode. She tells Clark she's looking for signs that will show what Lex Luthor was doing in the complex under the dam, although we know it was his latest 33.1 lab for developing super-soldiers. Clark takes the opportunity to tell Lois he's leaving Smallville as he has things to do "up North" as he puts it. As they walk, they come across what looks to be a spaceship covered in debris from the flood and Lois uses her camera-phone to take pictures of the strange symbols on the ship's side. But as she does, a blur flies past her knocking her out and then the blur lands at Clark's feet and turns out to be the strange young blonde woman we saw flying around Smallville after the flood. The woman is now holding Lois' camera-phone and she crushes it telling Clark "That's what happens when you touch my stuff". Clark and the woman run towards each other at super-human speed, and the result is that Clark is catapulted back through the woods violently as trees burst and earth is uprooted in Clark's path. Clark come to rest and looks up to see the young woman has sped in front of him and she tells him to get his girlfriend and leave the woods and never come back!
Then the young women flies far above the Earth where there is no air to breath and she takes out an "S" sigil medallion which shows her a picture of a baby and then she flies back towards the planet. Chloe is in the apartment over the Talon coffee shop looking over records for patients in the Belle Reeve Sanitarium when Lois and Clark come in with Clark insisting Lois go and get checked out for any effects from her being knocked out but Lois refuses. She tells Chloe she found a spaceship and Clark insists it wasn't one and also tells Lois she slipped in mud and was stunned and he got dirty from helping her up. But Lois is unconvinced and says she's going to her editor at the Inquisitor, the tabloid paper she's currently working for. While Lois is changing clothes, Clark tells Chloe that a Kryptonian woman who could fly attacked them and when Lois returns to the room Chloe insists on taking Lois to the hospital to be checked for a possible concussion. Lex is pacing in his cell at Kansas State Penitentiary when his lawyer enters and tells him he's been cleared for murdering Lana as a disgruntled employee who worked tunneling out Lex's 33.1 lab under the dam has confessed to the car bombing that killed Lana. Lex tells his attorney that not only does he want to meet with the employee but that he doesn't believe Lana is really dead. Clark has returned to the woods looking for the Kryptonian woman where he finds Park Rangers who have found two fellow ranger's bodies and he is told it is a crime scene and he should leave. Before he leaves Clark sees Lois' crushed cell phone at the scene and he worries that this latest Kryptonian has now murdered.
Chloe goes to the Daily Planet building where she sees Lex who tells her that he believes his father Lionel, who has gone missing after the dam burst, paid the employee off to confess to the murder as the man is dying from cancer and probably wanted to provide for his family. He also tells Chloe he thinks Lana is alive and he feels that Lana would have confided in her but Chloe says the DNA evidence has shown Lana's really dead. Clark enters the Planet and tells Chloe of finding the two dead Park Rangers at the site where the ship had been and Chloe tells Clark that a blonde woman has been seen at pre-schools in Lowell County. Clark goes to the one where the woman was last seen and finds her there questioning young boys asking them their names. He grabs the woman and super-speeds her away to a secluded spot where the woman realizes Clark is faster then any human being. She tries to fly away but Clark grabs her ankles and throws her to the ground and then he sees she is wearing a bracelet with an "S" sigil on it. She tells Clark she's looking for a small boy and can't find him anywhere and when Clark asks the boy's name she shocks him by saying the boy's name is Kal-El! Back at the Daily Planet Chloe is trying to convince Lois she didn't see a spaceship when a man approaches and says he's Chloe's new editor Grant Gabriel and he wants Lois to tell him about her supposed close encounter.
Gabriel tells Lois if she can deliver a story he can print about her purported spaceship find that he'll hire her to work at the Planet! Clark enters his house with the young woman who has told him her name is Kara. She says she used to baby-sit him back on Krypton and that she was rocketed away from Krypton by her father Zor-El who was Jor-El's brother. Clark tells her that she probably awoke due to her ship being dislodged after the dam burst and that she's been in suspended animation for eighteen years due to her ship crashing in the lake during the same meteor shower that he came to Earth in! Kara tells her cousin Clark her father told her to find the baby Kal-El and that their respective fathers did not talk to each other due to family issues in the house of El. Kara says she left Krypton in the midst of a civil war spearheaded by General Zod, and that they must find her ship and that she gets weak around the green meteor rocks. Then it's Clark's turn to shock her when he tells her that the green rocks are actually called Kryptonite as they are the radioactive remains left after Krypton exploded and that they are the only survivors. Kara can't believe it but when Clark tells her that her ship has gone missing she warns that humans probably took it and if they try to open it a self-destruct program will start that will cause the equivalent of a nuclear explosion!
Next we see a scientific facility in a place unknown to us and technicians are laser scanning Kara's ship. A man in a suit enters ordering the ship to be opened and when the lasers activate the symbols on the ship's side the temperature starts to rise dangerously in the test chamber. The man in the suit tells them to get ready to evacuate and the ship starts to glow bright red which we know is the start of its built in self-destruction program! Lois visits Grant Gabriel to tell him she thinks Chloe should write the spaceship story for him as she already works for the Daily Planet. Gabriel disagrees and tells her he thinks Chloe has peaked as a writer and he needs a different take on the article but Lois refuses to write it for him. She shows him some satellite photos she got from an Air Force contact that are of a caravan of trucks moving between Reeve's dam and a storage silo in Granville. Gabriel tells Lois that she has to pursue this story passionately if she ever wants to be a Daily Planet reporter or else she'll never achieve anything noteworthy. One of Lex's agents reports to him that they've located Lana near Shanghai China and Lex tells his man to prepare his jet for takeoff.
Clark and Kara enter the Daily Planet with Kara forcing elevator doors open as she's unwilling to wait for them to open automatically. Kara remarks that Clark can't fly as she can as girls probably do mature quicker then the male on our planet and Clark has to keep reminding her to call him Clark and not Kal-El. They meet Chloe and Kara asks her where her ship is and Chloe tells them the only unusual event that's happened is that AM-FM bands of radio have been disrupted in Granville. Clark asks Kara if her ship transmits any frequencies and Kara replies that it means that her ship has been opened and she is the only one who can stop the self-destruct sequence. Clark takes Kara to the roof and teaches her to focus her super-hearing to the point where she can hear her ship's signal. The attempt is painful as Kara isn't used to using this ability but Clark coaches her through until she does hear the ship's transmission and then Clark knows they can find it before it's too late. Lois has found her way into the silo where Kara's ship has been taken and all the personnel have fled as the ship is growing more dangerous by the minute. Lois walks up and touches one of the Kryptonian symbols and gets shocked into unconsciousness as a result.
As the show glows more brightly Kara and Clark speed into the room and Kara flies to the top of the ship which is starting to emit a powerful energy beam. Kara blocks the beam with her invulnerable body and forces it back into the ship but then the vessel suddenly disappears leaving Kara to wonder where her ship is now. As Lex flies to Shanghai he obsessively listens to the tape of his and Lana's last encounter after which she was seemingly killed. He arrives in Shanghai and enters Lana's room to confront her and then he asks Lana to forgive him for all he's done to her. He tells Lana he knows she took a clone of her he had grown in the 33.1 lab and then put it into her car which she then blew up and when the DNA matched hers it made the world believe that Lana Luthor was dead and gone forever. Lana holds a gun on Lex and tells her she's legally dead and now can kill Lex without being prosecuted. In response Lex walks closer to her and holds the gun barrel right up against his chest and tells her to make the world a better place by killing him as he deserves. But Lana is no killer and when she can't do it Lex tells her he'll arrange it so she can return to her life in Smallville and he promises to never interfere with her or ever hurt her again. Lex then takes her gun and places it on a nearby bureau and quietly walks out of the room and Lana's life.
Chloe and Lois enter the Daily Planet as Lois tells her cousin how she woke up with a fried camcorder, a headache, and absolutely no proof about the ship she saw. Grant Gabriel tells Lois he likes the way Lois wrote the story but without photographic proof he could never run it and that she should always carry a backup camera. Despite that he then offers Lois a job at a desk right across from Chloe and tells her he hopes Lois' energy rubs off on Chloe who he thinks has lost her edge. Lois is overjoyed that she is now officially a reporter at the world famous Daily Planet and we know that this will definitely lead to bigger and better things for her. Back in the Kent barn loft Clark finds Kara watching the sunset and she asks how Krypton was destroyed and Clark tells her he has no idea. Then he asks Kara to tell him about his family and she tells Clark how happy his mother Lara was when she found out she was pregnant with him and they felt he was a miracle baby. Then she mourns the fact that all her family is now dead and Clark tells her they are family and invites her to stay with him on the farm as long as she wants.
Kara tells Clark that her ship may have been destroyed but it contained a crystal with instructions and the power he would need to use in his learning from it and that only a Kryptonian can destroy the crystal and it would be very dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands. And that is the case as we see the mysterious man in the suit entering the Department of Home Security in Washington D.C. and he tells someone over his phone that the ship was destroyed but he has saved the crystal within the ship which he's carrying at that moment! At his Fortress of Solitude Clark listens to the voice of his father Jor-El who is pleased that Kal-El has decided to start his training. When Clark mentions Kara Jor-El tells him that her father Zor-El could not be trusted and his training is to begin by him watching Kara very carefully as she could pose great danger to Clark and everyone else. Back at his mansion Lex shows one of his agents a sketch of Kara he made from memory and instructs the man to use all his resources to finding the woman who saved his life. So now Lex has given up pursuing Lana only to replace her with a new person to obsess over and that will surely put him at odds with Clark once more.

Our Story:
Clark decides to expand Kara's education amongst humans by taking her to the Harvest Festival which is Smallville's biggest event of the year. But Kara's more concerned with the mission her father sent her to Earth on and says she must find the lost crystal from her ship. Clark says he's working on finding the crystal and then tells her she shouldn't fly anymore as it will alert authorities to her fantastic powers. Then Kara sees Jimmy taking pictures and her eyes start to glow red as she's attracted to him and Clark tells her to cool down as she doesn't yet know how to control her heat-vision. A recently unearthed time capsule is unveiled and Clark explains that an outlaw supposedly robbed a gold shipment and that a map to the gold is thought to be in the capsule. Kara uses her x-ray vision to see the contents and declares it to be filled with a bunch of old junk. Then three attractive young women arrive and prance up to the stand to enroll for the Miss Sweet Corn beauty pageant and Kara sees the flyer for it and thinks she's found a way to fit in which gives Clark another headache in his quest to help Kara acclimate.
Later Clark is working in the barn fixing the tractor when Lana walks in putting a hand on his shoulder from behind. At first Clark is shocked and then he is relieved as he and Lana embrace tenderly. In Smallville the blonde girl of the trio we saw earlier is entering a flower shop telling someone on her phone she's through letting the other two girls call the shots and that they'll be far away with money very soon. She walks up to a window facing the alley and suddenly from behind her comes a blast of frigid air which freezes everything in the room and frosts the windows over in a coat of ice! Lana explains to Clark that she didn't tell him about her plan to fake her death as Lionel Luthor had threatened Clark's life and she disappeared without telling him anything to keep him from being harmed. Then she explains that she can't be seen alive yet as she committed a crime when she faked her demise and Clark tells Lana she can stay on the farm and hide out. Suddenly Kara walks into the room in a red bikini and balancing a book on her head and says she's going to be the next Miss Sweet Corn. Clark explains that Kara is his cousin and then asks her to please get dressed in more then she's wearing so Kara super-speeds away and reappears a moment later next to them fully dressed. Lana says she now knows which side of the family Kara takes after and then leaves.
Clark tells Kara that entering a beauty pageant will make her stand out from the crowd instead of blending in and Kara says she slept in suspended animation for many years and she doesn't want to miss any more of her youth. Clark sees he can't really stop Kara from doing this so he then decides she must learn to better control her abilities. He takes her to the barn and sets up a watermelon on a bale of hay and uses his heat-vision to precisely cut a jack-o-lantern smile in the melon. But when Kara tries it she blasts the melon into pieces and splashes Clark with the melon's remains. He says she's definitely not ready to go out in public but Kara says she'll fit in her way, not Clark's. The beauty contestants are backstage preparing their makeup and Kara is having a hard time figuring out how to apply it when she overhears two of the girls we saw earlier discussing there was a problem but it's been taken care of. Kara walks over to the girls and asks them for help with her makeup but the two rudely insult her and brush her off. Kara walks outside as her feelings are hurt and she notices the flower shop with its frozen windows. She walks over to the window and brushes off the frost covering and sees the young blonde woman inside covered in ice and quite dead!
At Luthorcorp Lex is visited by Agent Carter of Domestic Security who we know was the man who had Kara's ship examined and who bought the crystal from Kara's ship to Washington D.C. when the ship was destroyed. Agent Carter shows Lex the picture he sketched of Kara and asks why Lex is looking for her as he's interested in whatever Lex is interested in. Jimmy meets Chloe at the Daily Planet and shows her the picture of the frozen beauty contestant but Chloe isn't interested in the story until her new editor Grant Gabriel tells her to take Jimmy and head for Smallville to get the story for the paper. Lana and Clark discuss Kara and Clark says Kara must learn to adjust to life as a human not as a Kryptonian amongst them. But Lana tells Clark that teenage girls are the same no matter if they're from Earth or Krypton and he must trust Kara to find her own way just as his parents trusted him to. At the Talon coffee shop the contestants are working hard on their performance choreography and then they take a break while the Sheriff questions the pageant leader about the frozen girl. The woman tells the Sheriff the girl was one of three that signed up at the last minute and as they speak Jimmy is taking pictures of Kara and the other two girls when he sees them duck out of sight at the Sheriff's presence. Jimmy follows the two girls taking more pictures of them and then he goes to his car parked out back to call Chloe about what he thinks is a lead on the icy murder. As he enters his car suddenly one of the girls walks up to his car and putting her hand on it she causes the car and Jimmy to drop into a frozen state which Jimmy will die from. Just as he passes out Kara walks up and rips the door off and holds it over her head with one hand. But she doesn't know that the murderous contestant has seen her super-save of Jimmy!
Lana has called Lex to the Kent farm to ask if she can return to public life in Smallville and Lex tells her the D.A. has dropped any charges against her as the felon his father paid to confess to the car bombing which supposedly killed her has died in prison so she's now a free woman. He then asks Lana to believe that everything he did, no matter how horrible it seems to her, was done beacuse he truly loves her. Lana tells Lex she can't believe that and then he says his lawyer is drawing up settlement papers in the dissolution of their marriage. Lana tells Lex she doesn't want Lex's money and he says that he knows Lana siphoned off $10,000,000 dollars of his money she used in her escape and he doesn't think Clark would approve of that. Then he chills Lana with the statement that he understands Clark has a cousin visiting and he looks forward to meeting her. Kara has called Clark and Chloe to the Smallville Medical Center where Jimmy is recovering from hypothermia. Clark is worried that someone saw Kara using her powers and Kara gets upset and tells Clark she was busy saving Jimmy and she leaves. Chloe shows Clark the information she's garnered on the three meteor-infected girls. It seems the girls were all caught up in a freak storm during the last meteor shower and have used their powers to help them in robberies. Clark feels their next target is the map in the time capsule which will lead them to the stolen gold bullion.
Kara returns to the Talon to gather up her belongings as she feels Clark is right and she doesn't belong there. But the two remaining meteor-infected contestants approach her and tell her they know she has powers like them and they want her help in obtaining the treasure map from the time capsule. Kara looks at a picture they show her of the gold and she sees amongst the gold is a pentagram shaped necklace with a Kryptonian symbol on it so she tells the two thieves she's in. But later the two girls find that Kara has gone on her own and stolen the time capsule from its display pedestal and they swear to make her pay for getting there ahead of them. Clark arrives at the Talon in time to see the beauty pageant just finishing up and Kara is still in the contest. At his mansion Lex tells Agent Carter that the woman in the sketch he now thinks was an angel come to save him from his evil ways and that no mortal could have saved him when he was drowning in the police car the day of the flood. He then gives Carter all his research conducted in the 33.1 lab in the hopes it will stave off something terrible he feels may happen and that he hopes Carter and he are on the same side in the coming conflict.
The pageant is ending and to her delight Kara is chosen as the new Miss Sweet Corn but as she's being crowned the Sheriff comes on stage and arrests Kara for the theft of the time capsule as the other two girls informed on her. In her cell Kara is visited by Clark and Chloe and when she bends the bars to leave Clark stops her and tells her she should have confided in him. Kara tells Clark about the Kryptonian necklace in the treasure and that his repressive attitudes about her stopped her from telling him about it. Then she says that a gust of wind blew the map from her hands and Chloe rightly discerns that one of the meteor-infected thieves used their powers to obtain it. Chloe tells Kara to tell them what she saw on the map and Clark tells Kara to stay in jail until Chloe can get her released legally. The two meteor thieves have dug up a box at the spot the map signified and all they find is the Kryptonian necklace and no gold. Clark appears and tells them the necklace doesn't belong to them and one uses her wind powers to dig up pavement and creates a rock-filled tornado to use against Clark, and the rocks have Kryptonite mixed in with them and Clark collapses as he's struck by the deadly element. The other girl walks over to Clark to retrieve the necklace but suddenly Kara speeds up and tosses one girl aside like a doll knocking her out. Then she leaps into the air and executes a back-flip and kicks the other girl knocking her out also!
Clark warns Kara to not approach him as the Kryptonite can kill her and Kara uses her heat-vision this time with precision using it to explode the green stone. Clark tells Kara he now knows that she must learn to use her abilities on her own just as he did and he tells Kara that like any good family would he still intends to watch over her. In the barn loft at the Kent farm Clark examines the Kryptonian necklace and admits to Kara he doesn't know what its symbol means. She thinks it's an S.O.S. and Clark knows the necklace has been in the capsule for 100 years and that it might mean the Kryptonian that left it there could still be alive on Earth! Kara tells Clark her new attempt for fitting in is she's gotten a job serving coffee at the Talon but she feels that Clark should accept that just because they live amongst humans doesn't make them one. Clark says he may have been born on Krypton but everything he knows and cares about is here on Earth. Kara says that Clark's fooling himself if he believes he'll be able to keep hiding on the farm and that in 50 years everyone they now know will be gone and that fact gives Clark pause. One of Lex's men comes into his study and says they've found the girl in Lex's sketch exactly where Lex said she would be.
Chloe and Jimmy enter the Talon and he congratulates her on her front page story about the meteor-infected thieves and also says he was skeptical about Chloe's bias against meteor freaks but now feels he and she should do their best to expose them as the danger they proven to be. Then Tara walks on the stage to get the bag she left there and when Jimmy and Kara exchange what seem to be meaningful glances Chloe gets concerned but Jimmy plays it off by suggesting they go upstairs to Chloe's apartment. Lana and Clark are walking through the festival with Lana telling Clark that she came back to Smallville for him and that they should forget the past and start over anew. But when she tells Clark she wants them to grow old together, Kara's words are in Clark's mind that it may not be possible for that to happen. Kara walks out the back door of the Talon to find Lex there and he thanks her for saving his life as he knows it was she who pulled him from the river. Kara denies it but Lex says he knows she ripped the roof off of the car that day and that he's already protected her from the authorities. He tells her that twice now a member of the Kent member saved him from death and he doesn't believe in coincidence. He tells Kara he hopes that this time a woman in his life will be honest with him and that he will uncover the truth about her. But he wonders; is she a savior or a warning?

Our Story:
Chloe and Jimmy are at the Talon coffee shop and he produces two tickets to a concert that Chloe knows cost him plenty but Jimmy feels they need a night out together. Then Chloe spots a face from the past at the counter and she follows the young woman out to the parking lot. Chloe calls Belle Reeve Psychiatric hospital and tells them that a Sasha Woodman must have escaped but she hangs up when the girl appears in front of her insisting she didn't escape. Chloe tells her she tried to kill two of her friends with meteor-induced powers over bees when they were freshman in high school but Sasha says she doesn't remember. She tells Chloe that a Dr. Curtis Knox operated on her and she shows Chloe the scar on her right temple to prove it. She says the operation removed her meteor infection but cost her six years of memories and she tells Chloe she's sorry for whatever she once did and then she leaves. But as Sasha nears her car she's surprised by Dr. Knox himself who tells her she has something he needs and then he holds a chloroform rinsed handkerchief over her face knocking her out. Then the mysterious Doctor drags the hapless woman away without anyone having seen him do so!
The next morning Kara comes downstairs at the Kent farmhouse to find Lana making blueberry pancakes for Clark and she asks Lana why it took so long for her and Clark to get together. Lana says that it was made possible by Clark finally telling her the truth about himself and that he kept his secret for so long to protect her. Then Clark comes downstairs and when Lana tells him they're out of Maple Syrup he super-speeds to Vermont picking up a bottle which causes Kara to tease him about showing off his powers. Suddenly the Martian Manhunter, John Jones, races into the room and grabs Kara by the throat telling her to stay away from Clark. Kara says he won't bully her on Earth as he did on Krypton and throws a punch at him which Clark stops. She tells Clark that John threw her and her family out their home back on Krypton and John tells her that considering her father's acts she's lucky that's all he did. When Clark tells Kara that John has saved his life and has been a friend to him Kara responds that Clark shouldn't trust him and then she speeds from the room leaving Clark to explain to Lana that John's not a Kryptonian, merely a Martian.
Kara goes out to the barn loft where she uses her super-hearing to listen in as John tells Clark that Kara can't be trusted as her father tried to have his father Jor-El assassinated and that the two brothers hated each other deeply. Then John asks if Kara has her crystal and when Clark says that it was lost when her ship exploded John tells Clark if he doesn't find it before Kara does he could lose everything he holds dear. Lex Luthor walks into his study to find Dr. Knox fingering his pocket watch while he's waiting for him and he tells the Doctor that he wants to know why the meteor toxicity of his patient's vital organs is so important and why three of Knox's healed patients are now missing. Knox says that throughout history the advances of science has been made by mostly going outside of standard practices and he tells Lex that he's paying him to cure his 33.1 patients and remove their memories of Lex's involvement with him. He then tells Lex he's busy and exits leaving a doubtful Lex in his wake. Dr. Knox returns to his sumptuous apartment where he has a woman lying in a bed that he's keeping alive while hooked up to organs that glow green with their Kryptonite infusion. He tells the comatose woman he's found another piece of the puzzle of restoring her to him and then he walks over to a table that Sasha Woodman is strapped on. He tells Sasha she's about to serve a greater purpose and then takes out a razor sharp knife to use on her.
Jimmy comes into the Planet where Chloe is studying a screen with Dr. Knox on it and she tells Jimmy she has to cancel out on their date as she's following a hot story lead about meteor infected people. Jimmy says he's tired of Chloe's obsession with meteor freaks interfering with their relationship and Chloe can't say more as she is secretly a meteor infected person. Jimmy storms out just as Clark speeds in asking Chloe's help in finding Kara's crystal. Chloe brusquely brushes Clark off telling him that mere mortals have more to worry about then Kryptonian crystals and leaves with Clark concerned about her unusual display of temper. Next we see Dr. Knox walk into his office to find Chloe waiting for him and she tells the Doctor she's a meteor freak and she wants him to cure her! Clark finds Lana in the barn loft where she's been wiring money to someone and she closes her laptop as he approaches. He asks if Lana knows what's bothering Chloe and he mentions her interest in Dr. Knox. Lana says she's been researching how to help meteor infected people that Lex used and that she came across the Doctor's name hearing that he uses brain surgery to cure his patients which causes Clark great concern for what Chloe may be contemplating. Jimmy is selling his concert tickets just as Kara enters the Daily Planet looking for Lois but Jimmy tells Kara she's out of town on a story.
Kara asks Jimmy if he could try restoring the ruined film from Lois' camera which she took of the supposed spaceship she found which we know is really Kara's own ship. Jimmy promises to try and when she kisses him on the cheek in thanks Jimmy is clearly affected by Kara's attention to him. Chloe is writing a note to Jimmy when Clark comes in telling her he knows she's thinking about letting Knox perform brain surgery on her. She tells Clark that she's willing to take the risk of surgery and the side effect of losing her memory as she's worried that the next time she uses her power it may kill her as it almost did when she used it to save Lois' life. She tells Clark he has to let her do this if he really wants to save her and Clark is speechless at that statement. That night Dr. Knox is dragging Sasha Woodman's body from his trunk into the Smallville fertilizer plant to mulch it into bits removing any evidence but he's surprised by Lex who tells Knox he knows he's killing his patients. Knox tells Lex he's only harvesting organs from certain patients and the rest are free to live normal lives but Lex pulls a gun telling the Doctor he'll shoot him if he has to. Knox steps towards Lex who then empties his gun into the Doctor's chest but Lex is shocked to see Knox then rise from the ground. As he pulls the bullets from his chest he tells Lex he's been speared by Mayan warriors, survived Mongol's arrows and the blades of Crusader's, and that Lex's 9 millimeter bullets are unable to kill him either. Then he walks up to Lex and knocks him out with his flashlight and then prepares to crush his skull with his next blow but Clark speeds up knocking the Doctor into an electrical panel making sparks fly. But as Clark speeds Lex away to get him treatment, the Doctor's eyes shoot open showing that he is indeed a hard man to kill!
Jimmy is teaching Kara how to eat with chopsticks and suddenly his computer beeps showing them that all that's left of Lois' film is a sign that says Flintlock Technologies. Jimmy explains that the company works with the government and uses that firm for top secret work and then says he can't wait to tell Chleo about it. But Kara takes Jimmy's hands in hers and tells him she wants this to be a secret between them only and she needs Jimmy to trust her on this. Jimmy agrees and then they're both surprised by Chloe who walks up seeing the two holding hands. Jimmy tries to tell her not to get the wrong idea but Chloe is hurt by their small display of affection and walks out throwing the note she wrote to him in the trash. Lex wakes up in a bed at Smallville Medical Center and he's surprised to see Clark sitting there. He tells him he didn't expect Clark to be a person who'd save him from harm but Clark fires back that he was only interested in stopping Knox. Lex tells Clark he knows that Lana has been monitoring his activities somehow and that she stole $10,000,000 from him. Then he shocks Clark again by saying that Knox is still alive as he shot him six times and the man wasn't harmed so the Doctor remains a menace. And Knox at that moment is welcoming Chloe into his office telling her that the concentration of meteor radiation in her heart is extraordinary. Then he starts to douse his handkerchief with Chloroform which raises Chloe's suspicion and she tries to escape. He catches Chloe and presses the handkerchief to her face and she falls unconscious just as the hapless Sasha Woodman did!
Clark enters the Planet looking for Chloe and Jimmy tells him that they had a misunderstanding and he retrieved the note Chloe discarded and it says she may not remember him after tonight and he must remind her why they should be together the next time they meet. Clark knows that means she's gone to see Knox and he rushes to his office. But Chloe has already been moved to Knox's apartment where he wheels a strapped down Chloe next to his comatose wife telling Chloe her heart will allow his beloved Sophia to live again. Lex enters Knox's office with a crew of his men and he finds Clark and says he can't find any trace of Knox and then he shows Clark pictures he found in his research that prove Knox has lived for centuries under a thousand different names. He tells Clark that Knox can't be killed as the man is immortal! Clark shows Lex the watch he found on the office floor and on it is a saying "este perpetua" and Lex says it's an old Roman saying that means may you live forever. He then shows Clark one of the pictures of Knox during the 1920's that's in front of a place called the Victorian Arms in Metropolis and it has that saying on the building so now Clark knows where Knox may be. At that moment Knox is about to cut Chloe's heart out of her chest to transplant into his love Sophia. When Chloe tells him she doesn't intend to die at the hands of a Jack the Ripper wannabe, Knox quips back at her that he was Jack the Ripper!
Just as his knife starts to pierce Chloe's chest Clark speeds into the room throwing Knox straight through a glass cabinet, but then the kryptonite infused organs that Knox is using weaken him to the point of helplessness and Knox attacks Clark with an ancient ax he has. As they fight Knox tells Clark he's sick of watching the women he's loved growing old and turning to dust. But as he strikes at Clark with the ax, Clark ducks and instead the ax smashes the equipment keeping Sophia alive! Knox runs to her and cradles her head in his hands as she opens her eyes one last time and dies with Knox begging her not to leave him alone. Then Chloe jumps up and pushes the kryptonite laced organ table away and Clark's strength returns. But he won't need that strength because when Clark approaches Knox the man turns with tears in his eyes at his loss and with defeat on his face and the fight clearly gone out of him. Later in his barn Clark asks John Jones what he's done with Dr. Knox and John says it will have to remain his business as to how he dealt with the unkillable Dr. Knox. Then Jones reminds Clark that he too will outlive the people he cares about and he has a larger destiny to fulfill. Then John asks Clark if he's found Kara's crystal and Clark explains he got sidetracked dealing with Knox. Kara speeds into the barn asking what John's still doing there and tells Clark to ask John what he did to her family and not to trust him. John insists that Kara's father was a traitor and Kara says she wants to know if Clark will trust her or the Martian Manhunter.
Clark doesn't say anything so Kara tells him the family reunion is over and she angrily flies away into the night at supersonic speed. The next day Clark asks Lana about the money Lex said she stole from him and Lana replies with a lie saying the money was part of their divorce settlement and then she tells him she's using the money to help Lex's victims and that she'd never lie to him. But as the two embrace we can see the doubt written on both their faces and later that night we see Lana enter an apartment she's secretly keeping in Metropolis. Inside it is a vast array of computers and monitors and she's using them to spy on Lex's every move as we see her reading the screen on his computer and there are views of every inch of his mansion on her monitors. Chloe enters the Daily Planet and Jimmy is relieved to see she remembers him. He shows her a box of mementoes he's made so he can remind her why they're supposed to be together as she wrote in her note to him. As they go through the keepsakes it brings back happy memories for the two. Chloe apologizes for the craziness she's put Jimmy through and he says they should promise each other they'll have a normal relationship now. But Chloe says she can't promise that as things will probably never be normal between them and when Jimmy asks why Chleo won't answer and we know it's because she's afraid to tell Jimmy she's meteor infected. Then Jimmy says maybe their relationship can't work and Chloe says maybe that's so and Jimmy tells her he can't take any more and walks away. So just as Clark's secrets cost him so much over the years it now appears as if Chloe's secrets will be just as costly to her.

At the episode's end Dean Cain makes an appeal for people to help the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation which does research to find cures for paralysis. To help, people can buy a set of Superman dog tags by logging onto www.christopherreeve.org or by calling 1-800-225-0292.

Our Story:
A masked and silver clad figure with a red cape glides through the air, his right arm stretched out in front of him with confidence. Then we see ropes suspending him from a crane and a director yells cut as the camera pulls back and we now see that a film crew has taken over the Kent farm as Clark has agreed to let the comic hero "Warrior Angel" movie to be shot partly on his farm. Chloe tells Clark she's pleased a big budget movie is shooting in Smallville and that she's created a back story to cover his cousin Kara's super activities. Clark says he hopes that Kara cools off and comes home soon. Then a production assistant moves them back as the superstar Rachel Davenport arrives for her next scene. She climbs into her car and the director calls "Action" and she drives away while pretending to talk to her editor on her phone. As she drives off the director yells cut but Rachel's car continues down the road picking up speed much too fast. Rachel tries hitting the brakes but the car just keeps accelerating faster and faster. Clark's super hearing picks up Rachel screaming for someone to help her and he takes off at super speed. The car hits an embankment and pinwheels into the air spelling certain doom for the actress. But as she's ejected from the car Clark catches her and covers her body with his as a door flies off the car and caroms of his back. Rachel looks up with relief and gratitude and tells Clark he just saved her life and she thinks he's amazing!
The next day Lana exits the house to find Clark driving fence posts into the ground with a swing of his arm. Then she shows Clark that he's the Smallville Ledger's headline on the front page proclaiming him a local hero but Clark would rather not have that kind of attention. Then a limo pulls up and the production assistant tells Clark that Rachel Davenport wants to see him at once. He gets a ride to the Talon coffee shop where her next scene is being shot. Rachel sees Clark and tells the crew to clear the room for a few minutes and everyone leaves. She tells Clark she wanted to thank him personally for his rescue of her and then Chloe enters the room and Clark introduces his friend to Rachel. He tells her she could repay him by giving Chloe an interview as she normally doesn't talk to the media and Chloe is delighted when she says yes. Chloe tells Rachel that the Sheriff has had her car looked at and that the vehicle was tampered with and someone is out to get her. At the Daily Planet editor Grant Gabriel is telling Lois Lane to head for Smallville but Lois says she's chasing a lead about Luthorcorp buying 100 acres of land with only a small cabin on it downstream from his destroyed 33.1 lab. She says she doesn't buy Lex's claim that he's reformed and Grant says that without proof she should forget the Luthor story.
Next we see the same cabin Lois was talking about and inside we're surprised to see Lionel Luthor lying on a bed as he wakes up. A woman walks over to the elder Luthor and he wants to know where he is and who the woman is. The woman tells him her name is Marilyn and then Lionel is shocked to find she's locked his right hand inside an animal trap! He demands she release him from the trap and that people will find him eventually. But Marilyn says no one's looking for him and she walks out in back of the cabin and makes a phone call telling someone that Lionel has finally woken up. Rachel has been invited by Clark to stay at the farm and lay low and the two are in his barn loft rehearsing a romantic scene from the movie when Lana interrupts them reminding Rachel that she and Clark are a couple. Clark is embarrassed and tells Lana he's just helping Rachel run through her lines and the movie actress leaves them alone. Lana tells Clark that Chloe has sent them information about internet blogs for Warrior Angel and that there are fans who are upset about Warrior Angel's girlfriend surviving the movie as opposed to the comic's story line where she is killed. Clark wonders how to find the culprit and Lana points out that one blogger has insisted that "her blood will release the truth". Despite their differences Clark goes to see Lex Luthor as he knows he was a big Warrior Angel fan when he was growing up. As he arrives he doesn't know that Lex has his people investigating his cousin Kara trying to uncover the truth about her. Lex is surprised Clark has come to him as they're no longer friends but when Clark mentions the blood quote Lex pulls out a drawer filled with all the Warrior Angel comics and tells Clark the quote is from issue five.
Lex tells Clark that in that issue Warrior Angel's girlfriend is trapped by the villain Devilicus and he shoots her fatally as the hero is too late to save her. Lex tells Clark that in the comic book world if you're going to save the world you're destined to be alone. And next we see the death scene being prepared on the set but the production assistant puts a live round in the gun before handing it to the actor playing Devilicus. Then the man hides in the background waiting for the fatal "accident" to occur. The actors take their places and they start filming as Clark watches and just as the film villain shoots the pistol, Clark x-rays the gun to see an actual bullet flying down the barrel. At super human speed he catches the bullet as the Warrior Angel actor pretends to catch it on camera. Clark stands on the sidelines and opens his hand to drop the still smoking round but he's unaware the production assistant has seen him do so and now knows Clark is a real superhero! That night at Luthorcorp in Metropolis Lois Lane uses a fake ID badge to sneak into Lex's office to obtain information but she's surprised by Lex who arrives telling her he no longer has anything to hide and he has her escorted off the premises. But before she leaves Lois shows Lex a document for the purchase of the acreage and cabin she mentioned earlier and it's signed simply LL!
Lionel Luthor decides he must try and free himself so he pulls his right hand through the animal trap leaving long painful cuts in the hand. He then purposely knocks a glass off the table next to him so his captor will approach. He feigns gratitude to the woman for saving him and she lowers her guard long enough for him to smash a bottle over her head and he flees the cabin. Clark arrives back at his house to find a media frenzy and he walks in while Rachel is having a body massage. She sends the masseuse away and then Clark finds an envelope that was delivered to him. Inside it is a Warrior Angel comic and a note in which the author says he saw what Clark did and it's his job to save the world. Clark tells Rachel they have to leave as the place is no longer safe. Lionel Luthor runs frantically through the woods hoping to evade his captor. But he's suddenly struck down by a shovel wielding person and Marilyn runs up to none other then Lana who berates her for letting Lionel escape! Lana tells Marilyn she's not paying her for mistakes and then her cell phone rings and she lies telling Clark she's at her Aunt Nell's and she agrees to pick up Rachel for him. Chloe's at the Daily Planet where Clark asks her help in tracking down the deranged comic collector and she finds his address in Metropolis. Clark arrives at the apartment and the computer lights up with the production assistant's face and he tells Clark that he couldn't stand the mythos of Warrior Angel not being adhered to and he intends to take action and make Clark save the world as he thinks he should and then the screen goes blank.
Lex enters the cabin his father's held captive in with gun drawn and sees his father tied to the bed. He starts to free him and Lionel asks why Lex did this to him and Lex denies any involvement. But Marilyn appears behind Lex and she moves him away from the bed with a loaded shotgun pointed in his face. As she talks, Lionel gets free of his bonds and strikes Marilyn from behind and then continues brutally beating her until he exhausts himself with the effort. Lana has taken Rachel to Oliver Queen's penthouse apartment in Metropolis and they're talking when Ben the production assistant arrives claiming to have call sheets for Rachel to peruse. But he suddenly takes out a tazer and stuns Rachel knocking her out. Then he goes after Lana who tries to fight Ben off but he finally overpowers her and stuns her also with the hand held tazer. Clark and Chloe are at the Planet trying to figure Ben's next move and Chloe asks Clark what Devilicus would do to make the Warrior Angel accept his destiny as the world's savior and Clark realizes that the villain would put the damsel of the story in distress and that Lana is now in very real danger. At that moment Ben has a tied up Lana over his shoulder and he's putting her on the penthouse balcony ledge which he intends to throw her off of! He tells Lana she has to die so Clark can go ahead with his destiny of saving the world and he pushes her off the ledge just as Clark speeds into the apartment!
As Lana plummets towards certain death, Clark dives off the balcony and tucks his arms in tightly to fall like an arrow with his body accelerating from gravity as he finally catches up to Lana and cradles her in his arms. He's in a standing position holding Lana and their expressions are of love as they stare into each other's eyes despite the fact they're falling rapidly. Finally Clark lands on top of a car crushing it but still serenely holding his beloved Lana in his arms. At the Daily Planet editor Grant Gabriel is telling Lois he told her to stay away from the Luthors but instead she went behind his back to write about the return of Lionel Luthor. But he suddenly surprises Lois by asking her to a ceremonial dinner with him and the two verbally spar with each other revealing that they're attracted to each other. The next day Lionel Luthor visits Lana while she's in the Kent farm barn loft. Lana feigns concern for Lionel until he tells her he knows she was behind his kidnapping.
Lana denies all but Lionel says he knows she's being underhanded and that Clark must not know what she's really up to. He warns her that the path she's going down has no good end to it but Lana is insistent that she's completely innocent. Lionel warns her to give Clark up now as she can only hurt him and Lana's expression shows us she's worried about that too. At Belle Reeve sanitarium Lex visits Ben bringing him rare issues of the Warrior Angel comic but Lex says he wants Ben to tell him about the man he saw swipe a bullet out of thin air. Ben denies it ever happened and says it was all in his head but this time Lex's expression shows us that he still believes it happened. Rachel visits Clark at the farm and gives him a box with something in it she says every superhero needs and then departs in her limo. Lana tells Clark that as much as she wants him for herself someday the world will need him more then she does. Clark tells her he has everything he ever wanted right there on the farm and Lana goes back in the house. Then Clark opens the package Rachel gave him and he's surprised that she has left him Warrior Angel's flowing red cape. He hangs it on the fence and walks towards the farmhouse as the cape blows and billows in the Kansas winds. And we know that one day that red cape will have a much more significant role in Clark's life, a life he doesn't want at this point and a destiny far greater then he can possibly imagine.

Our Story:
We are in the past on Krypton and the planet is tearing itself apart with a massive war. Zor-El, Kara's father, pulls her through their disintegrating home telling her she must travel to Earth and Kara complains that the journey will take three years. Zor-El reminds her that the council has destroyed all the portals so General Zod and his men cannot use them for escape. Kara wants to stay with everyone she loves but Zor-El tells her she'll be safer on Earth and that the crystal he's given her will keep Krypton with her always and tell her what to do when she finds her cousin Kal-El. Then he tells her to go and she moves towards the waiting spaceship turning for one final look at her father whose last words are to tell her he loves her. Then we see Kara is floating in the skies over Washington D.C. and what we've seen are her memories of that final day in the Kryptonian city of Kandor. But Kara isn't paying attention to the fact a jumbo jet is coming up right behind her and she barely flies above and around the jet's fuselage in time. Then she streaks across the capitol's sky in a red and blue blur!
At the Daily Planet Chloe is checking out a website called the Isis Foundation and it says they provide support for meteor infected people. But when Clark speeds into the room Chloe tells him about the near miss over Washington D.C. last night and they conclude they've found Kara. Clark tells Chloe he feels responsible for Kara leaving because he didn't trust her and he wants to bring her home. Jimmy arrives and when he asks about Kara, Clark tells him she's in Washington. Then Jimmy admits he helped Kara get information concerning a spaceship supposedly found in Kansas by a company using equipment connected to the government. Clark rightly worries that the government has Kara's crystal and that she'll be reckless in trying to get it back. He goes to see Lionel Luthor who inquires about Kara and Clark tells him she's a cousin on his adopted father's side of the family who's come to visit with him. Clark asks Lionel if he could obtain information about an abandoned government lab he's found in Granville Kansas and Lionel says it was part of a project called Skyhawk that was set up there by the Department of Domestic Security after the second meteor shower to watch for extraterrestrial threats.
Next we see a lab near Washington where Agent Carter, the man who bought Kara's crystal to the capitol, is watching scientists run tests on the crystal trying to unlock its secrets. Just as the crystal is lowered into a safe compartment Lex Luthor enters the lab demanding to know what Agent Carter has retrieved from the now destroyed spacecraft. Agent Carter refuses to cooperate with Lex and scoffs at his notion there's some sort of blonde angel that saved him. Lex reminds the man that he's not high up in the power strata of Washington and leaves and then the crystal is raised up from its hidden safe and testing on it resumes. That night Kara enters a bar in the capitol where she uses her super-hearing and listens in on conversations until she finds one of the technicians who's been working on the crystal. She takes him in a back room and uses feminine wiles to get him to admit to his work with the crystal. When his back is turned Kara speeds out of the room with the young technician's wallet and security pass which she uses to enter the lab. But when she smashes into the safe where the crystal should be she's annoyed to find it's gone! Chloe enters the Isis Foundation's headquarters to get help as she's meteor infected but she's surprised to find Lana Lang there and to discover Lana's running the foundation.
Lana tells Chloe she's using her divorce settlement money from Lex Luthor to finance the place but she doesn't want Chloe to tell Clark or to write a story about the place and though she is suspicious Chloe agrees to keep Lana's secret. Kara returns to the bar and this time she threatens the lab tech physically to try and find the crystal and Clark speeds up behind her and makes her give the man his wallet and security pass back. Then they go out into a hallway where Clark tells Kara she's being reckless in nearly hitting the plane and it's only a matter of time before she's found out. But Kara tells Clark he should have believed her when she defended her father saying he never tried to kill Jor-El back on Krypton. Clark insists that Kara go with him but she responds with a super-strength shove that nearly pushes Clark through two metal fire doors and then she flies out a skylight and streaks away in the evening sky! Jimmy enters the Planet to find Kara using his computer to hack into the Department of Domestic Security and she assures him she's using techniques that won't leave any traces back to him. When Kara finds that someone working for a Lex Luthor contracting firm entered the lab she assumes that Lex has taken her crystal. And when Jimmy turns away for a second Kara speeds out of the room leaving Jimmy to wonder where she could have gone now.
At the Isis Foundation, Lana walks into her data center where there are multiple screens she uses to watch Lex's every move in his mansion. But she's surprised when suddenly she loses her feed to the Luthor mansion and all her screens only show static. At the mansion we see Kara super-speed into Lex's study where she uses x-ray vision to scan the room but she finds no sign of her missing crystal. But with no warning Kara weakens badly almost collapsing and the cause is Agent Carter whose holding handcuffs fitted with Kryptonite. He puts them on her wrists telling her when he saw how meteor rocks disabled her ship he knew they would affect her too and now he intends to get answers from her. Lex enters the room demanding to know what Agent Carter is doing and the man pulls out a tranquilizer gun telling Lex he's disabled the security feed and taken out Lex's bodyguards. He tells Lex he thinks that Kara and he are working together and that he thinks Lex has the crystal but he'll settle for Kara instead. Lex tries to stop Carter but the government man shoots Lex with a dart that drops him instantly, then he leaves the mansion dragging Kara with him. Lana sees her feed to Lex's mansion suddenly restored and when she views footage of the last few minutes she sees Kara in the mansion study and then she calls Clark telling him that Kara was there.
Lex is angrily talking on the phone telling a Senator he wants Agent Carter fired immediately and when he hangs up Clark is standing there demanding to know where Kara is. Lex tells Clark that the Department of Domestic Security has arrested Kara and taken her to a lab in Virginia. Then Lex asks Clark why the government is after Kara but Clark doesn't have an answer he dares to tell Lex. At the hidden lab Agent Carter has hooked up a liquid Kryptonite drip to Kara's arm and he has her strapped on a lab table. He tells her he's hooked her up to a machine that is able to force her to relive her memories and though the device was ruled unstable he's sure the meteor rock IV in her arm will make her reveal things about her home planet. He starts by asking her where she's from and when she arrived on Earth and we see Kara now standing in the Kent farm barn! She's not the only one there however as we see that Kara has used the last portal to Earth from Krypton to follow Clark's biological mother Lara who ascends from the barn loft to admonish her for coming to Earth. But Kara says she snuck out of Kandor as her father spends too much time in his lab to notice she's gone. Then Lara tells Kara she came to the Kent farm to see where her son will probably be raised. Kara is ecstatic to find out the Lara's pregnant and Lara tells her Krypton will not survive the war despite Jor-El's invention of the Brain Interactive Construct to hopefully save it.
Lara insists that her child's destiny will not be dictated by the fate of Krypton and then she says that Jor-El visited the Kents years ago and their capacity for love is why he chose them to be her child's adoptive family, then she tells Kara to go into the Kent house with her. Agent Carter interrupts the treatment to tell Kara he now knows she first visited Earth in 1986 even before the first meteor shower and Kara denies it all but he responds by turning up the Kryptonite drip causing more pain for her as he tells her to continue with her story. Lara and Kara have entered the Kent house and Lara explains the Kents are away at mass, which is a spiritual celebration and tradition of the Kents. Kara suggests Lara name her son Kal-El which pleases the expectant woman. Then Lara picks up a picture of Ma Kent stating she thinks she'll make a good mother to her son. Kara picks up a camera and takes a Polaroid picture of Lara telling her that her son would want a picture of his mother and then Lara hides the photo behind the picture of Ma Kent. With out warning the front door is blasted off his hinges by the hand of Kara's father Zor-El who has followed them to Earth! Kara's reverie is interrupted by Clark smashing in the lab doors and he tells Agent Carter to get away from her. But Clark is weakened by the Kryptonite in the room and Agent Carter approaches Clark ready to cuff him as he did Kara.
Clark uses the last of his strength to shove the rouge agent across the room and he pulls Kara's IV out, but when he touches one of the machine contacts on her he experiences feedback which cause him to see Kara's memories. Now Clark sees Zor-El demand that Kara wait outside the Kent house and he tells Lara that Krypton is about to be destroyed and he wants her to stay with him on Earth and they could rule the planet with the powers they've gained here. But Lara tells Zor-El she's pregnant with her son and she loves Jor-El whom Zor-El tried to kill, but he insists he was trying to do the right thing. Then he tells Lara he's stolen her DNA and put it inside a crystal he intends to send to Earth with Kara and that way he'll be able to recreate her and have her for his own. Kara has heard everything her father has said and when she reenters the house Zor-El takes out an "S" sigil crystal and shines it on her commanding her to forget everything she's seen and heard. Clark snaps out of the daydream and sees that Kara's heart has gone flatline and he frantically starts to release her from the lab table. Agent Carter comes up behind Clark with a jagged piece of Kryptonite he intends to stab Clark with but Lionel Luthor enters the room shooting him before he can. Then Clark raises his fist and slams it down on Kara which causes her heart to restart and she rises up from the table and the two cousins hug each other in relief.
Back at the Kent farm Clark retrieves the hidden picture of his mother and Kara tells him how sad she is about finding out unpleasant truths about her father who she always felt of as a hero. Clark says the Kents taught him that our parents don't define us and our destiny is shaped by ourselves. Kara apologizes to Clark for the harsh things she said to him and at last there is peace between the two cousins. Clark remarks he was happy to see his mother and hopes to see her again someday. Lex is having a drink in his study when his father Lionel comes in telling him he knows about Lex's new obsession with Kara and anything connected with Clark. Lex retorts that Lionel has been more of a father to Clark and he has changed his ways but Lionel isn't buying it. Jimmy enters the Planet to find an apologetic Kara who is sorry she ran out on him last night and she kisses Jimmy in thanks. Then she asks Jimmy out to lunch with her and when Jimmy turns around he runs into Chloe who says she hopes they can still be friends and would he like lunch with her? Jimmy tells Chloe he has is having lunch with Kara and Chloe is worried as she knows the truth about Kara but since she's broken up with Jimmy she has no choice but to accept their becoming friendly. Back at the Kent farm Clark shows Lana the picture of Lara and then he takes out a box and when he opens it we're shocked to see that Clark is the one who took Kara's crystal from the lab. And when Clark says that the DNA of his mother is inside the crystal we wonder just what does Clark intend to do with it?

Our Story:
Clark and Lana are out enjoying a peaceful horseback ride with each other after a picnic together. A storm starts to threaten and Lana and Clark decide to head indoors but as Clark passes by the windmill he suddenly weakens and collapses from a piece of kryptonite that's lying at its base. Lana picks up the deadly green rock to throw it away from Clark but then lightning strikes the windmill and runs down its frame and arcs through Clark to strike Lana. The windmill starts to fall towards the still helpless Clark but its fall is stopped and Clark looks up and is shocked to see that Lana has grabbed it and is holding it in the air as now she has Clark's powers also! Next we see the pair enjoying a super-speed run around the farm that ends in the barn. Clark warns Lana to go easy with these powers as he's had years to learn careful use of them and he feels that they should seek a way to remove them from Lana. But Lana tells Clark she's enjoying them and for now they should take advantage of the situation. And by that she means its time for them to share more amorous pursuits which Clark at first resists but then gives into. People throughout Smallville, including Chloe, are suddenly experiencing seismic tremors and they don't know that Clark and Lana are causing them.
Later Clark comes down to the kitchen and Lana tells him that she's ecstatic over being able to experience the things Clark has for years and she uses her new found x-ray vision to examine Clark's body. Chloe comes in and tells them about the tremors around town and the couple embarrassedly explains they are the cause. When Lana rips off the handle to the refrigerator and goes to get a screwdriver, Clark tells Chloe that Lana has gained his powers from the lightning and kryptonite accident. Chloe reminds Clark that Eric Summers went mad when he temporarily gained these powers and that his father had a heart attack from his gaining them also. While Lana's upstairs her super-hearing picks up Clark asking Chloe to watch over Lana and Chloe agrees. But Lana's reaction is to pick up a picture and hurl it into a mirror smashing it! Later at the Talon coffee shop Chloe cautions Lana about abusing her powers but Lana says she can do some good with them but won't comment on exactly what she means by that. At his mansion, Lex Luthor has a scientist named Dr. Jansen showing him a glass vial containing a dark liquid that has kryptonite above the liquid. Lex reminds the Doctor that the liquid was once the metallic dust that was the remnants of Milton Fine's spaceship. We know that Milton Fine was actually a product of Kryptonian science called the Brain Interactive Construct that Clark's biological father Jor-El hoped to use to save the doomed planet.
The Doctor tells Lex that the liquid is actually sentient and trying to escape the cylinder and the green meteor rocks are the only thing stopping it from getting free. He gives Lex a hard drive that he says has all his data from something called Project Scion and Lex sees the liquid crawling up the vial's side and falling back when it nears the green glowing rocks. Lana is watching all this from her data center in her Isis Foundation which she started to help meteor rock victims. She watches Lex as he walks up to a safe and locks up the hard drive while telling the Doctor that Project Scion must remain a secret. Just after they exit the room Lana super-speeds into it and uses her heat-vision to melt the safe's hinges and then she rips the safe door off throwing it aside and then she takes the hard drive! Clark enters Luthorcorp in Metropolis just as Lionel Luthor is finishing a conversation with Ma Kent who's now a Senator in Washington. Clark tells Lionel that Lana's gained his powers and he wonders if Lex's father has access to any technology that could reverse the process. Lionel tells Clark that his captivity for weeks after the Reeve's Dam burst was Lana's doing and that she is not as ethical a person as Clark thinks she is. Lionel reminds Clark that Samson once trusted Delilah with the secret of his power and eventually Delilah used that trust to betray the biblical strongman.
Clark returns to the Kent farmhouse looking for Lana but instead he finds Lex Luthor waiting for him and Lex tells Clark about the theft from his safe and that Lana was seen leaving his mansion. When he asks how Lana gained super-strength Clark says that Lana's been infected by meteors and he doesn't know what she was after. Lex then tells Clark about Lana's Isis Foundation and says he knows that Clark doesn't trust her just as Lex doesn't. At the Daily Planet Lois Lane is trying to sell Editor Grant Gabriel a story that he rejects. Then Lana enters his office with the hard drive she stole from Lex telling him that it's proof that Lex hasn't mended his ways as he claims and would make a great story for the paper but Grant tells her he can't run a story based on stolen information. Lana reacts angrily to that and pushes the man into his office wall and when Lois tries to intervene Lana kicks her straight through the glass of the office door! Then she tells Gabriel she'll get Lex on her own and casually steps over the unconscious Lois' body as she leaves. Clark meets Chloe who's taken Lois to Smallville Medical Center for treatment and Lois tells Clark that Lois mentioned something called Project Scion and she intends to find out what it means as soon as she's released. She is taken for an exam and then Clark tells Chloe that his powers are making Lana more aggressive and she must be found.
Lois is sneaking out of the hospital and when she enters the elevator she finds Grant Gabriel who has come to bring her flowers. She tells him that she thinks Lana is on to something about Lex and she will investigate it but Grant insists she stay away from the Luthors. Clark enters the Planet and tells Lana he can't find Lana and that since she's returned to Smallville she has a darker aspect he worries about. When he mentions the Isis Foundation to Chloe she says she has something Clark needs to see. Lex is driving down the street talking on his phone asking Dr. Jansen what he's found out about the strange liquid but the Doctor has nothing new to report. He looks up and sees Lana standing directly in his path and he slams on his brakes skidding to a stop. His phone has fallen to the floor and then Lana casually walks straight up on the hood of his car. Lex says out loud "My God Lana, what are you doing?" and Lana's response is to smash her fist right through his windshield shattering it! Chloe and Clark enter the Isis Foundation as Chloe explains Lana's been trying to help meteor victims for months. When they enter a back room Clark scans a bookcase with his x-ray vision and he walks up and uses his strength to open the case revealing Lana's data center that has multiple screens all filled with Lex's activities. Clark has Chloe replay an audio track from the bug Lana has on his mobile phone and they hear Lana attacking him and hear Lex admitting his Project Scion is located on Pier 34.
Lana has taken Lex to his project's lab and she hurls him across the room as they enter it. Lex gives Lana the computer password and when she enters it she sees schematic drawings of Milton Fine's ship and Lana tells him he must stop looking into this before more people are hurt. Lex insists he trying to save lives and that he thinks Lana still has feelings for him. He thinks that everything that's happened points to an alien invasion and he must protect everyone from the threat. Lana grabs Lex by the front of his shirt and drags him over to an electrical panel and rips out a sparking cable which she then holds up to his chest. He tells her she'd regret doing this and that Clark would never look at her the same way again. He says they're both the same at heart, people who'll do whatever it takes to survive and then he surprises Lana by kissing her. Lana drops the cable and for a moment she shares the kiss with Lex but then she grabs him by the throat holding him in the air while Lex insists she'll lose Clark forever if she kills him. At that Lana tosses Lex across the room like a doll and stuns him. Clark speeds into the room telling her he'll take care of Lex and Lana says he's not willing to get blood on his hands and get rid of Lex as he should have years ago. Clark says that they don't have the right to take lives and Lana answers by attacking Clark kicking wildly at him.
He dodges her first kick but the second catches him knocking him across the lab and the cabinet holding the strange metallized liquid is knocked on the floor in the melee and the cylinder rolls across the floor. The kryptonite in the cylinder weakens both Lana and Clark and as they fall to the floor Lana says that all Clark has done is hide on a farm. Clark says he's tried his best to protect those he's cared about and he grabs the cylinder breaking it apart. He throws the half with the liquid in it across the room and holding the half with the Kryptonite in it, he rams the electrical cable into his chest. The current arcs through the Kryptonite and then through Clark and Lana reversing the process that gave Lana super powers, this time taking her powers away. The Kryptonite goes white now bleached of its radiation and Clark cradles Lana's unconscious form in his arms. But he doesn't notice the black liquid now freed from its captivity crawling away across a countertop. At the Daily Planet Grant Gabriel is telling someone on the phone that he's taken care of something and we see him deleting the Project Scion files just as Lois knocks at the door and enters his office. Lois says her lead on Lex's project has run out and she thinks that there's something more between them. Gabriel gets up and comes around his desk and kisses Lois who teases him about sexual harassment and then kisses him back warmly. As they kiss each other we see the last of the files being deleted on his desk and know that there is something not quite right about the young Editor.
Clark visits Lex and asks if he intends to press charges against Lana for her actions and Lex insists there'll be no reprisals of any kind. He tells Clark that he thinks Lana's hateful feelings for him will outlive her affection for Clark. When Clark says that Lex made her this way Lex replies that Clark betrayed her before he ever did and Clark hasn't got an answer for that. Lana enters the Isis Foundation and Chloe comes in behind her to see that Lana's data center's feed has been cut off and now she can't spy on Lex. Chloe asks Lana why didn't she confide in her and Lana says that she didn't think Chloe would understand. Chloe says that Lana being willing to kill for Clark ultimately makes her a danger to him and she intends to keep Lana from hurting him in any way. She walks out and we see that these two old friends have now become strange opponents of a sort. At Project Scion's lab the technicians are cleaning up after the earlier events there and Lex tells Dr. Jansen to find the strange black alloy before it poses terrible danger to them all. As he leaves one women walks over to a lab table and when she places her hand on its counter, the eerie black liquid runs over her hand and for a moment her eyes go completely black and then return to a normal appearance. Whatever the liquid is, it now is walking around inside a human host!
Clark enters his barn loft and tells Lana that Lex won't be pressing any charges but he's not sure who she is now. When Lana insists it was the powers making her act aggressively Clark replies she kidnapped Lionel Luthor before that. Lana refuses to apologize for extreme action she's willing to take to protect those she loves and Clark tells her that now she sounds like Lex. Clark feels that because he didn't trust Lana for years with his secrets that he's responsible for her not trusting him with hers. Lana says she's willing to be responsible for her own actions but she just needs to know that Clark will love her no matter what. And Clark just looks back at Lana and has no reply for her, and what this means for their future together only time will tell.

Our Story:
Clark is sitting looking at the picture of Lara, his biological mother, that he recently found. Kara comes in from a surfing trip to Coast City that she went on with Jimmy Olsen. She asks where Lana is and Clark replies she's visiting her Aunt Nell in Metropolis. Clark tells Kara he wants to know more about Lara and Kara agrees to talk to him in the morning about her. After she goes upstairs Clark seems to hear a woman calling to him and he follows the sound into the barn. The sound is coming from the blue crystal from Kara's ship that Clark secretly took and hid there. The crystal is glowing brightly and the voice is telling Clark to go to his Fortress of Solitude to save her. Clark grabs the crystal and is transported to the Fortress where Jor-El's voice tells Clark that everything Zor-El, his brother, did was for power and greed and that Clark shouldn't use the crystal. Jor-El warns Clark to not let human emotions cloud his judgment but Clark says he must help his mother and rams the blue crystal into the crystalline console that controls the fortress. The fortress brightens and a blue beam of energy flies through Clark and to a spot twenty feet away from him. When the light clears Clark sees his mother Lara standing there and when he tells her who he is the mother and son embrace. But standing behind a crystal pillar watching them is Zor-El who has been reborn also!
Kara enters the Kent farmhouse and is happily reunited with her Aunt Lara but she knows that Clark must have used her crystal and says so. Clark admits he had the crystal and used it and Lara says that if she is there then so is Zor-El. But Clark tells them that the three of them should be a match for him. At the Daily Planet building in Metropolis Grant Gabriel is looking at some badly shot photos that Lois Lane took for her expose about the Mayor and a mistress. He tells her next time to use Jimmy as without decent pictures her story won't have the proof it needs. They verbally spar until Grant comes around his desk and the two share a passionate kiss. Lois worries that Grant hired her based on his attraction to her, but Grant reassures her by showing her a story Lois wrote about an underground wrestling ring and says that the attraction started after he saw her. Chloe approaches the Editor's door and when she peeks inside she catches Grant and Lois in a heated embrace though they don't see her so Chloe makes a quick retreat. Kara is in the barn loft at the Kent farm when Zor-El flies in dressed in a long black leather coat. He tells his daughter he's happy she is safe and Kara tells him she knows he tried to kill Jor-El. But Zor-El insists he's changed and now only wants to keep the El family together here on Earth. Then he tells Kara to go to the Fortress and wait for him there.
Lionel Luthor is sitting at his desk when Zor-El flies into the room and tells him he knows Lionel is Jor-El's emissary here on Earth. He grabs Lionel from his chair and slams him down on his desk and tells him he wants him to convince Clark and Lara to trust in him. Lionel refuses and Zor-El throws him across the room and his body smashes through a glass table. Zor-El warns him he'll be as dead as Jor-El if he defies him. Lionel refuses again and Zor-El rushes towards him but Clark speeds into the room smashing Zor-EL straight out the window with a punch. Zor-El stands up and then flies away in a black blur before Clark can reach him. Clark summons first aid and they take Lionel away for treatment of his injuries but not before he warns Clark that Zor-El is looking for someone named Lara and Clark pauses at the thought of danger to his mother. Lois sits at her desk where her cousin Chloe gives her a chilly greeting and then tells her she knows about Lois being involved with Grant Gabriel. Lois says she doesn't care what people think but Chloe insists that everyone will think she got her job inappropriately and that she'll ruin her chances in her newfound career. Clark takes Lara to Oliver Queen's penthouse apartment to keep her safe and while the two are talking Lana comes in and Clark introduces his mother to her.
Clark asks Lana to stay with Lara so he can meet with Kara, but before he goes Lara gives him a ring she says was once Jor-El's. Clark puts it on his finger and when he does his eyes glow blue for a moment like the stone in the ring but then return to normal. When Clark leaves through an alleyway outside the building Zor-El is waiting for him and he tells him that Kara told him where he could be found. Zor-El says he wants to preserve the house of El but Clark tells him that what he did to Lionel proves his real intentions. Clark refuses to join him and in response Zor-El throws him 100 feet down the alley where he crashes into the rear window of a car. When Clark gets up he realizes he's in pain and bleeding and that he's lost his powers! Zor-El tells him that he tricked him with the voice of his mother knowing Clark would then activate the crystal. He knew that Lara would give him the ring as Kryptonian tradition calls for and he put the blue kryptonite in it to rob Clark of his abilities. Clark still won't go along with Zor-El who tells Clark the fact he's Lara's son is all that stopping him from killing Clark. Zor-El flies to the penthouse where he tells Lara to come with him but Lana says to leave her alone. Clark arrives in the elevator in time to see Zor-El throw Lana into the mesh door in front of him. As Clark cradles the injured Lana in his arms, Zor-El takes Lara and speeds away with her.
A battered Clark enters the Daily Planet where he tells Chloe that Lana has no serious injuries but he can't remove the ring that's robbed him of his powers. Chloe suggests calling Kara but Clark thinks that she's betrayed him and sided with her father Zor-El. Clark asks Chloe to drive him back to the Kent farm where he'll try and get the ring off his finger. Next we see Lex Luthor playing pool at his mansion with of all people Grant Gabriel! Lex tells Grant he knows he's seeing Lois and he must break it off before her curiosity uncovers the relationship between Lex and Grant. Grant resists but Lex insists reminding Grant that without Lex behind him he would be nothing. At the Fortress Kara sees Zor-El enter with Lara and he tells Clark's mother that unless she agrees to help him repopulate the Earth with Kryptonians he will kill Clark. Then Zor-El starts reconfiguring crystals in the control panel telling the two that he's going to darken the sun making it deadly for human beings. Kara tries to remove her blue crystal from the console but Zor-El tells her only Clark is able to do that. Then he tells Lara he'll bring Clark to the safety of the Fortress but any more resistance from her will mean Clark's death. Clark is at the farm trying to grind the ring off his finger but Chloe stops him before he hurts himself. The two see the light dimming and they look outside and see the sun being eclipsed plunging the land into darkness and Clark knows it's Zor-El's doing.
Grant Gabriel enters the Daily Planet's newsroom to find everyone staring at the unnatural eclipse of the sun and tells them to get to work on the story, not to stare at it. He tells Lois he needs to see her and they enter his office where he's about to break up with her when Lois beats him to it saying they must end their relationship. Grant agrees and they are about to leave his office when they pause at the door and cannot stop themselves from kissing ardently again! At the Fortress Kara tells Lara she was fooled by her father and Lara shows her a Kryptonian dagger she found in the crystals which she'll use to kill Zor-El with. Kara insists on protecting Lara and takes the dagger saying she'll stab her father if she has to. Zor-El returns and says he couldn't find Clark and Lara tells him she knows he's lying. When his back is turned Kara tries to stab Zor-El but he is stronger then her and then says that he must now kill his own daughter. Lara tries to stop him and Zor-El simply shoves her away with his great strength. Then he picks Kara up by the throat with one hand and tells her it will be difficult for him but she must die. He starts to choke her to death when Clark appears behind him with green Kryptonite which weakens Zor-El. Clark holds him down pushing the kryptonite on his chest when Kara tells Clark he's the only one who can remove the blue crystal from the console and stop the eclipse.
Clark puts the deadly rock on Zor-El's chest and strides to the console and pulls the crystal out and the sun immediately returns to its normal brightness. Kara helps Lara to her feet and Lara tells Clark to destroy the crystal and stop Zor-El but Clark worries that his mother will disappear too. Lara tells him as long as the ring is on his finger he'll never be able to fulfill his true destiny and that she'll always be with him in his heart. Zor-El pushes the piece of Kryptonite off his chest and advances on Kara meaning to kill her first when Lara tells Clark he must smash the crystal to save his cousin. With regret Clark turns and smashes the blue crystal into fragments and with a bright flash the ring vanishes from his hand. But when he turns around Lara, Kara, and Zor-El have all disappeared and he is alone in the fortress! We see Kara waking up in the middle of a city street and its pouring rain. Stunned she wanders over to a cafŽ where the woman inside tells her to come in out of the rain. She tells Kara she's in Detroit City and then she asks her what her name is. Kara not only doesn't know where Detroit is, but she looks at the woman and says she doesn't even know her own name! The next day Clark is working in the barn when Lana comes in and he tells her he knows his mother and Zor-El are gone and he doesn't even know if Kara is alive or where she might be. Clark is regretting letting his emotions guide him and Lana says he should never blame himself for caring about the people he loves.
She tells Clark she's done things she's not proud of and she can't forgive herself and she's gone too far down. Clark embraces her saying everybody makes mistakes and what counts is learning from them and picking yourself up and going on with your life. At the Daily Planet Lois is struggling to type her story on the eclipse when Grant Gabriel tells her another reporter has beaten her to it and she should take typing lessons. Chloe remarks it looks like they've broken up and Lois confirms it but after he leaves, Grant sends her phone a text message saying he'll see her later so we know they're really still involved. Gabriel enters the Luthor mansion and tells Lex he's broken up with Lois and then throws a pile of electronic bugs on Lex's desk that Lex has been using to keep an eye on him. Lex tells him he was simply trying to protect him and Grant says he's not afraid of Lionel Luthor. Lex says he should fear Lionel because if he found out that Grant Gabriel was really Lex's brother Julian Luthor, who Lionel gave up for adoption and told everyone had died, that Lionel may have him killed! At the Fortress Clark is telling Jor-El he needs his help to find Kara, but Jor-El tells him Zor-el is responsible for her disappearance. Then Jor-El tells Clark that once again he has disobeyed his father and refuses to learn his lesson about not listening to him. Jor-El tells Clark this time there must be consequences for his actions and then the Fortress grows brighter and brighter until the blinding light envelopes Clark! We don't know what Jor-El has done to Clark but its apparent his father will not stand for Clark's disobedience any further.

Our Story:
Grant Gabriel, who we found out last episode is really Lex Luthor's brother Julian, and Lois Lane are hiding in a storage closet at the Daily Planet while they passionately kiss. Lois tells Grant that she wants him to stay quiet about her being given the assignment of writing the Lex Luthor expose. Lois worries that people will feel she got the assignment due to her having a relationship with her editor Grant, but he tells Lois that Lex specifically asked for Lois to write about him. Chloe has once again tried to call Clark as she hasn't heard from him in weeks. Lois walks in and asks where Clark is and Chloe lies saying he's visiting his cousin Kara in Minnesota. Chloe gives Lois all the research she's done in the past about Lex to help Lois get started with her story. Then a cell phone sitting in Lois' desk rings and Lois answers it explaining it isn't her phone she's talking on. The man tells Lois he wants to help expose Lex's sins and then says he has planted a bomb on Chloe and if Lois tries to get help, the man will explode the bomb killing Lois' cousin!
At Lex's mansion, he and his brother Julian, Grant Gabriel, are enjoying a fencing match with each other that Lex easily wins. Grant tells Lex that he thinks Lex should have someone else write the story on him as Lois has a bad habit of uncovering unpleasant truths about her story subjects. Lex tells Grant he has nothing to hide and that even if Lois uncovers anything bad about him he always finds a way to win in the end. The man who's talking to Lois calls himself Adrian and he has Lois writing the story about Lex while giving her details which he says once they are written, he won't explode the bomb on Chloe. He tells Lois that he's a clone grown by Lex whose body is growing old rapidly. Lois tries to send e-mail to Chloe warning her about the bomb but Adrian has disconnected her computer's cable and he warns Lois he's watching her and not to try anything. Lois looks around at any men in the newsroom and sees a delivery man staring at her. She picks up a big stapler from her desk and follows the man into a back room and hits him over the head stunning him. She tells him she saw him watching her and the man insists he was simply ogling Lois as she's attractive. Then she takes his cell phone and hits "redial" and when it answers at the man's workplace Lois realizes she's made a mistake.
The man leaves to get security and then almost immediately re-enters the room. Lois repeats she's sorry but then the man collapses in her arms dead from a pair of scissors rammed into his back! The cell phone rings and it's Adrian telling Lois that he'll get rid of the body but any more acts of defiance from Lois will cause Chloe's death. Clark enters the Kent farm's barn to find Lana grooming a horse. She runs to his arms and they hug as Lois asks if Clark's been at his Fortress of Solitude all the time he's been gone. Clark explains that time works differently at the Fortress but now he's returned without being able to find his cousin Kara and they must accept the fact she may be gone forever. Lana says she's thought a lot about it and she feels it's time for her to give up her vendetta against Lex Luthor. But Clark says that if Lana will show him everything she's found out about Lex he will work with her to bring Lex down once and for all. They go to Lana's Isis Foundation which she founded to help meteor-infected people and also used to spy on Lex's activities. Clark tells Lana he feels responsible for all the harm Lex caused Lana because she was trying to protect Clark from him.
Clark finds a file marked Project Scion and Lana says she wants to show Clark everything she found connected with the project. Back at the Planet Lois has printed "Bomb on You" on the back of a folder she gives to the mailperson to deliver to Chloe. As Chloe gets the envelope she tells Lois she's heard from Clark and she'll be going to see him. As she talks to Lois the cell phone vibrates with a Text message which says, "Don't even think about it. KA-BOOM!" Lana takes Clark to a hidden treatment room in Metropolis where she's placed a Lab Tech of Lex's who worked on Project Scion. She tells Clark the woman was babbling incoherently and had toxic levels of metal in her body. Lois tells Clark that in 24 hours after the woman was bought there, all the natural metals in her body where siphoned off and she returned to physical health but she's still whispering incoherently. Clark listens to the woman and tells Lana she's speaking Kryptonian and then he starts to write her words down in the ancient alphabet of his long dead ancestors.
Chloe leaves the newsroom and gets on the elevator which Jimmy catches also. They listen to the corny elevator music versions of Christmas songs and try to make conversation but their awkwardness since their break-up is making it tough.
Lois writes her story as fast as she can to keep Chloe from dying and she sees the elevator has been marked out of service and she knows Chloe is trapped in it. Adrian walks up to her showing Lois the detonator to the bomb on Chloe and then demands Lois' story on Lex which she hands to him. On the elevator Chloe finally notices the envelope with the message on it and she and Jimmy search through her purse until they find a small gift box which contains C-4 explosive and a remote detonator device. Adrian reads Lois' story and tells her he will be dead by Christmas and then he says that all his memories including those about Christmas and family were downloaded into him by a Lexcorp scientist, and though he remembers them as being real they are not. Lois says she's written the story for publication and asks Adrian to free Chloe from danger. But Adrian now says Lois must find a way to get Lex to confess to the facts of the story if she wants to save her cousin. Chloe is standing on Jimmy's back in the elevator so Chloe's phone has enough of a signal for her to call Clark for help. When she steps off of Jimmy's back her heel lands on his finger cutting it badly. Adrian has Lois entering an interview with Lex while she wears a microphone and a hidden camera which provide picture and sound for him to watch while he talks to her over an earphone she's also wearing.
Clark and Lana arrive at the Daily Planet hoping to have Chloe translate the computer code the young patient was saying in Kryptonese that Clark wrote down but they find Chloe is not at her desk. Lois enters Grant's office to find him and Lex waiting for her to interview Lex. Adrian tells Lois to ask Lex about Project Gemini which surprises Lex but he denies any knowledge of it. Lois insists Lex's project is about human cloning but Lex still denies all. Then when Adrian tells her to, Lois tells Lex that Adrian says hello but Lex still says he knows nothing. Then Adrian tells Lois to take the gun out of her briefcase that he put there and point it at Gabriel insisting that Lex tell her the real story. Lois does so which shocks Grant and Lex but Lois says that Adrian had implanted memories and when she tells them to Lex she takes her eye off him for a second and he picks up a vase and knocks Lois out. Grant runs over and Lex shows him the camera and earphone she was wearing insisting someone else is running the show. But Grant wants to know why all the memories that Adrian seems to have are all the same ones from his own childhood! Adrian then walks into the room and when he starts to talk about a bicycle his mother bought him, Grant finishes his sentence with the memory of the same thing happening to him as a child.
Adrian tells Grant that he was an earlier version of Grant that didn't work so he simply made another Grant Gabriel which of course Lex denies. But when Grant looks closely he realizes that Adrian is simply an older version of himself and he asks Lex if he's even really his brother. Adrian yells at Lex that he thinks he made him so he could pretend to have a brother and Lex screams at Adrian he's not his brother and then he takes out a gun and shoots the clone in cold blood! But as Adrian falls down he pushes the detonator he was holding and on the elevator Chloe and Jimmy see the bomb start a one minute countdown! They bang frantically on the door but they're high on the 12th floor and no one seems to hear them. Chloe decides since they're about to die she might as well tell Jimmy the truth about her. She says she didn't break up with Jimmy because there was anything wrong with him or their relationship but because she's a meteor freak, the slang term used to describe kryptonite-infected human beings. Jimmy then turns and kisses Chloe passionately in response to this statement. Lana has tried to call Chloe but has only gotten her voice mail and then she sees the e-mail Lois tried to send about Chloe having a bomb on her and she points it out to Clark. He sees the closed elevator and then focuses his super-hearing to the point where he can hear the detonator counting down inside the elevator.
He speeds from the room and flies straight up the stairwell to the 12th floor and moves through the Christmas party revelers so fast it seems as if he runs among human statues. He throws the elevator doors open and sees Chloe and Jimmy locked in their kiss and then he spots the bomb on the floor ticking down to zero. Grabbing it he runs to the top of the Daily Planet and throws the bomb far into the night air where is blows up harmlessly. The doors to the elevator now open expose Chloe and Jimmy sitting on the elevator floor kissing and the partiers simply chalk it up to typical office party behavior and resume their revelry. Lois wakes up and rises from the floor to have Lex tell her that Chloe is safe and that Adrian escaped while Grant went to find medical aid for Lois. Lois says she's going ahead with her story about Adrian and Lex tells her not only does she have no proof but he wants her off the story. Lois says that's for her boss to say and Lex shocks her by wishing her Merry Christmas and telling her he's now her boss as he's just bought the Daily Planet! Chloe and Jimmy are feeling awkward about their kiss and Chloe says she did it simply as an emotional reaction to thinking they were about to die and Jimmy agrees. But he says he wished she had told him sooner about being meteor-infected and Chloe admits she hadn't come to terms with it herself. Then she shows Jimmy her ability by healing his cut finger and Jimmy hugs her saying he'll never feel differently about her simply because she's infected. They hug and Chloe's face shows relief while Jimmy's face shows he's not as comfortable about Chloe's infection as he says he is.
An aide tells Lex the Daily Planet will be his at midnight and he tells her that he wants to start by getting rid of the deadwood personnel on the paper. Then Grant Gabriel enters and tells Lex he feels like just another one of Lex's tries at controlling everything around him. Lex insists Adrian was insane but Grant says he believed the man when he said Lex had them made in a lab. Lex tells Grant he simply wants a family to love but Grant feels that Lex's actions have proven he doesn't even understand what love is and that he wants the freedom to live his life the way he wants, not the way Lex wants him to live. Grant then visits Lois and tells her that Lex isn't firing her and has even insisted she stay with the Daily Planet. When Lois asks if they're going to go public with their relationship however, Grant says he's come to break up with her and that they must stay apart from now on. The two are visibly upset but this latest incident has shown the danger of them being near each other in any capacity. Back at the Kent farm, Chloe is giving Clark the translation of the Kryptonese the woman patient was babbling. Chloe says it translates into a standard computer message that appears when a computer can't boot up properly. Clark notices it's repeating and Chloe says the message shows it's learning and may soon successfully start whatever computer it's from. Clark tells Chloe that the liquid metal that invaded the woman was from the Brain-Interactive Construct we know as Brainiac, and that enough of it must have survived to start growing again.
Lana comes in with coffee and Danish pastries and Chloe says she can't stay and she must meet Lois for breakfast. Then Lana tells Clark how happy she is since he returned from the Fortress. Clark tells her that when he saw her face in the barn that day he felt like he had fallen in love with her all over again and then the two kiss and hug each other. As they hug Lana's face shows immense happiness but when we see Clark's face in the sun coming through the window, suddenly it flashes to a whitened and cracked visage and with horror we realize this isn't Clark, it's Bizarro! Then we see the Fortress of Solitude far in the frozen north and inside it in a giant crystal is the real Clark who Jor-El must have put there for Clark not obeying his biological father's orders. And now with Clark trapped there in the crystal, his most dangerous enemy is free and right among the people he cares most about!

Our Story:
Bizarro and Lana wake up in bed one sunny day, with Lana not suspecting that Bizarro has taken Clark's place for the last month. Lana sees that Clark/Bizarro has been staring at her and he is being so affectionate that Lana doesn't think twice when Clark suggests they leave Smallville and sees the world together. When Lana opens the curtains, behind her back we see Bizarro's skin turn to cracked rock for a moment as the yellow sun affects him that way. Lionel Luthor is surprised when Grant Gabriel walks into his office and tells him that his son Lex had Grant cloned from Lionel's long dead son Julian's blood to replace his brother. He shows Lionel proof and the elder Luthor surprises Gabriel by telling him that if this is true then he wants to get to know his reborn son better. Clark/Bizarro enters Lana's foundation to find that Lana has been tracking murders of homeless people she suspects is the work of Brainiac, the living computer from Krypton. Clark/Bizarro tells Lois that Brainiac is using the trace metals he's draining from his victims to regenerate himself.
Lana tells Clark she's used her computers to triangulate the attacks and it appears that Brainiac's base in somewhere in Suicide Slum in Metropolis. Clark goes to an alley in the slum and finds Brainiac draining a rat for its trace metals he's so desperately weak. Bizarro taunts him and Brainiac immediately recognizes that Bizarro is the last Phantom Zone wraith to escape the Kryptonian dimension where prisoners were held. Brainiac asks where Clark is and Bizarro tells him he's gone missing and he's sure he's dead by now as he hasn't returned. Then Bizarro tells Brainiac he wants his help in fixing his weakness of turning into stone when exposed to sunlight but Brainiac says he's too weakened to be of any help to him. But he says that a Kryptonian scientist named Dax-Ur has been secretly living on Earth for a century and that he could help Bizarro. It seems that all Kryptonians who visited the Earth through the now inactive portals carried a shield which is tied to their genetic code and if Bizarro finds the shield he'll find Dax-Ur. Bizarro speeds away and Brainiac's only reaction is a wry smile.
Bizarro goes to Chloe at the Daily Planet which Lex Luthor has just acquired and many employees are leaving due to Lex having mass layoffs. Bizarro asks Chloe's help in finding the scientist from Krypton but he says he must first find the shield that will locate him. Chloe reminds him that he obtained the shield from a time capsule that was buried in Smallville but he says he can't remember where he put it. This makes Chloe suspicious and when Bizarro grabs her by the arm she again feels something's not right with Clark. She tells him with a wary look that's she's sorry but she cannot help him. Lionel Luthor visits his son Lex at his mansion and after a little verbal sparring Lionel tells Lex he knows about Lex having Julian cloned. He tells Lex that what he's done is depraved and he's sickened by Lex's actions. Lex retorts that he thinks that Lionel would want to look into the eyes of the son he's lost but Lionel says he's lost Lex and leaves. Lex looks down in sadness but when he looks up it's with a more dangerous look in his eyes. Lana arrives at the Kent farmhouse to find Chloe waiting and she tells Lana that her talks with Clark have made her feel there's something wrong with him as he's forgetting things like the shield and his personality seems altered somehow. Lana insists that for the last month Clark's been more loving and understanding them ever and she feels that Chloe has to learn to let go of Clark and move on.
Just then Bizarro come through the door and announces to Chloe that soon he and Lana will be leaving Smallville forever and this makes Chloe even more suspicious then she was before and she leaves. When Lana mentions that Chloe said Clark can't find the shield, Clark says that maybe Kara his cousin took it. Lana says that since it's Kryptonian in nature, perhaps Kara took it to the Fortress. Bizarro/Clark smiles at her and agrees that's where it must be. He flies to the Fortress of Solitude far in the frozen north and yells for Jor-El to help him find the shield of Dax-Ur, but Jor-El tells him he's not welcome there and will receive no help from him. Bizarro tells Jor-El he's nothing more then a dead voice from the past and can do nothing to stop and him and he angrily flies away. In response the Fortress shudders and quakes with ice and rocks falling everywhere. And on a high section of the Fortress a column with the real Clark frozen inside it by Jor-EL for not obeying him, the ice and crystal break away and Clark awakens as Jor-El tells him the last Phantom Zone wraith has returned and Clark must stop him!
Clark speeds to the Kent farm where he tells Lana that she's been spending the last few weeks with a Phantom Zone escapee and Lana insists it was Clark and that they were leaving Smallville together. With horror Lana realizes that it's been Bizarro she's grown so close to and while Clark tells her he must get her away from the farm, Bizarro is in the barn listening to every word they say! Bizarro returns to the alley and tells Brainiac he needs his help in killing the now returned Kal-El. Brainiac assures him he'll take care of Kal-El by distracting him and then Bizarro will be free to spirit Lana away with him. He smiles as he walks away from Bizarro and we can tell that the Brain Interactive Construct is running his own agenda during this conflict. Clark goes to Lionel Luthor and he wants Lionel's help as he is Jor-El's emissary and must know some way to defeat him. Lionel tells Clark about Dax-Ur who's hidden on Earth for a century and says he'll have blue Kryptonite that will kill Bizarro by giving him so much energy his body won't be able to contain it and will explode. Clark mentions the shield he obtained from the time capsule and Lionel tells him if he puts the beacon shield in his hand and speaks Dax-Ur's name that he'll be taken to the lost Kryptonian. After Clark leaves, Lionel enters an elevator and his body morphs back into Brainiac who impersonated Lionel to send Clark to find Dax-Ur!
Clark goes to see Chloe who at first is unconvinced Clark isn't Bizarro but Clark walks into a shaft of bright sunlight and as it doesn't change him as it does Bizarro Chloe is both relieved and sure that it's really Clark in front of her. Clark says he needs the shield and Chloe produces it explaining she didn't trust Clark's impersonator and stole it from the farm where it was hidden. Clark and she go to a storeroom where he holds the shield in his hand and saying Dax-Ur's name, he disappears in a bright flash as Chloe wishes him good luck. Clark reappears on a desert landscape where a man in a garage is working under an old truck trying to fix it. Clark tells the white haired man he's looking for a man named Dax-Ur from Krypton and then he throws the shield into the man's hands. Clark tells him his name is Kal-El, and at that the man straightens up taller and says that the house of El always were survivors. Clark tells Dax-Ur that he came to Earth in a spaceship his father built which landed in Kansas. Dax-Ur's wife and son come into the garage with his lunch and they go out back to wait for him while he speaks with Clark. Dax-Ur explains it was his work as a scientist that led to the creation of the Brain Interactive construct and when he realized the creation could become a world destroyer he fled to Earth for solitude. Once there, he put on a Blue Kryptonite bracelet deciding to have a family and live quietly as a human.
When Clark says he needs Blue Kryptonite and asks Dax-Ur for some, Dax-Ur's only response is "What's her name?" At Oliver Queen's penthouse in Metropolis, Lana has been hiding out and then Clark appears saying he must get her away at once. When they embrace, Lana sees Clark's reflection in a glass door change to stone and she realizes it's really Bizarro. Back in the desert, Clark puts a piece of Blue Kryptonite in a lead box and super-speeds towards Metropolis for the final showdown with Bizarro. Lana sends Clark a text message telling Clark that Bizarro is at the penthouse but Bizarro's super-hearing picks it up and he speeds in front of her admitting who he is. He insists he would never hurt Lana and tells her how it was he and not Clark who made her so happy these past weeks. Clark speeds into the room and runs at Bizarro with the Blue Kryptonite but Bizarro swats him aside easily and the blue rock falls to the floor. Clark tells Lana to run as the Blue Kryptonite weakens him and he won't be able to protect her but Bizarro tells Lana he's truly in love with her and she knows in her heart that Clark will never fully commit himself to her as he will. Lana picks up the Kryptonite and looks at Clark admitting that it's true. The last few weeks she's been more in love with Bizarro and felt closer to him then she ever did with Clark and Clark's mouth drops in pain and amazement at her words.
She nears Bizarro and he tells her that nothing will ever come between them again and he holds out his hand to her. In a moment of pain and decision Lana takes his hand and then suddenly slams the Blue Kryptonite into Bizarro's palm. Immediately he fills with blue energy and his body starts to break apart as he screams. Just before he shatters into thousands of pieces his last words to Lana are, "I love you." Clark rushes to Lana reassuring her that Bizarro is finally gone. That night at his garage Dax-Ur is visited by Brainiac who explains he played Kal-El and Bizarro against each other so he could find him as he's damaged and since Dax-Ur created him he also knows how to repair him. Dax-Ur refuses and tries to take off his Blue Kryptonite bracelet but Brainiac is too fast for him. Dax-Ur still refuses to help and Brainiac's reply is to simply turn his finger into a stabbing point and drive it into Dax-Ur's neck while another part of his finger changes into a probe that slices into Dax-Ur's brain. As the lost Kryptonian dies we see Brainiac's eyes rolling data waves through them obtaining the information he needs to fix himself! Lex Luthor walks into Grant Gabriel's office telling him he's fired as the Daily Planet's editor since he went to their father against Lex's wishes.
Lex tells him to flee the country as it's too dangerous for him to remain in Metropolis and that he's responsible for Grant even existing. He warns Grant not to throw Lex's protection away but Grant tells Lex he's meeting their father for dinner and he intends to become a Luthor with all the benefits. That night as Lionel and Grant exit the steakhouse where they had dinner Lionel tells him he's happy to have regained his lost son. From out of the dark a mugger appears insisting the men give him their money. Grant steps in front of Lionel and offers his wallet but despite that the mugger shoots him several times and Grant Gabriel collapses and dies in Lionel Luthor's arms. As the mugger makes his escape he takes out his phone and sends a message to Lex saying simply, "Job done". Lex drops his phone when he reads it and walks out into a driving rainstorm and stands with his arms spread wide screaming at the top of his lungs. Lex has stepped back into the darkness with this act and he knows he's damned himself with this terrible act of fratricide. Back in their bedroom at the Kent farmhouse Clark and Lana stand away from each other awkwardly as each thinks of the fact that it was someone else in that room who's been happy with Lana for weeks now. They finally go to bed but each tosses fitfully and this latest incident will no doubt haunt them for some time to come.

Our Story:
While she talks to Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, over her cell phone Chloe is using her desktop computer to intercept a file that Lex Luthor was transmitting to someone. She burns the file to a DVD and prepares to leave when suddenly a throwing knife slams into her desk and Chloe takes off running telling Oliver over the phone she's being attacked. She runs to the elevator and another knife flies right next to her head brushing her cheek and imbeds itself into the elevator wall just as the door closes. Chloe heads to the Daily Planet roof where she is met by a mysterious woman dressed in black leather and fishnet stockings with a mask and spiked blonde hair. On a parapet above them Green Arrow appears and shoots an arrow into the woman's coat which pins her to a brick wall. But the woman slips out of her coat and runs to Chloe but the Green Arrow rapidly shoots three arrows at her. But the woman opens her mouth and though all sound in the immediate area quickly is muffled, powerful sonic waves emanate from her mouth shattering Oliver's arrows in mid-flight! Then the woman uses one of her knives to slit Chloe's purse open and then she sweeps her legs through Chloe's knocking her to the ground. Picking up the DVD she runs to the building's edge and using a rappelling line she plummets head first to the street while Oliver and Chloe can only watch in amazement!
The next morning at the Kent farm Clark and Lana prepare for the day and they're both still feeling the awkwardness that arose from Bizarro taking over Clark's life for a month and how Lana seemed happier with the Phantom Zone wraith then she ever was with Clark. At the Daily Planet Lois Lane runs to catch the elevator and she shares it with Dinah Lance who is a Metropolis media right-wing radio personality and the two exchange barbs until Dinah tells Lois that her one time lover Oliver Queen is back in town and that quiets Lois. Clark visits Chloe at her desk and tells her how upset he still is over the whole Bizarro business. Then he asks Chloe if she's had any success finding Brainiac, the evil living computer from Krypton, and Chloe tells Clark how she's been working for Oliver lately and how she was attacked by the woman in black. Clark goes to Oliver's clock tower penthouse apartment angrily confronting him about selfishly endangering Chloe in his schemes. But Oliver replies at least he's trying to make a difference and all Clark does is stay on the farm living a quiet life. Oliver describes the woman's sound powers and tells Clark the file Chloe intercepted was a photo file about Lex's latest project and that makes the two men think the blonde attacker is working for Lex.
And indeed the young blonde woman is waiting for Lex in his mansion office as he walks in. She gives Lex the DVD and Lex hands her an envelope with cash and then she tells Lex that the Green Arrow was the one after Lex's file. Lex tells her that the Green Arrow and his cohorts have been blowing up his labs all around the world and if she brings him the Green Arrow it will be her biggest payday yet and the woman leaves. Lionel Luthor comes to Lana's Isis foundation asking her to try and find proof that Lex had Grant Gabriel murdered. Lana refuses to help Lionel but he insists she check the months of footage she has from when she was spying on Lex. He tells her he knows how she kept a young woman at the foundation who was Brainiac's first victim until the woman died and tells her she wouldn't want Clark to find out about that. At the Daily Planet, Dinah Lance walks up to Chloe's desk and uses a lock pick to open her desk drawer and she checks Chloe's phone and sees her last call on it was to Oliver Queen and she throws the phone back in the drawer and walks away. Back at her foundation Lana is checking through all her footage of Lex but so far hasn't found anything when Clark enters with a sketch of the blonde attacker asking Lana if she knows anything of the woman.
Lana says she's never seen the woman and then she tells Clark about the woman who died in her care and that she told Bizarro about her. Clark angrily rebukes Lana for trusting Bizarro more then her and Lana admits that Bizarro was more affectionate and open then Clark is. She tells him that his standards are impossible to live up to but Clark says that if she could fall in love with both Lex and the Phantom Zone killer he thinks she has failed her own standards, not his. Lois goes to Oliver's penthouse to confront him about not calling her when he got back in town. They argue for a minute but when Oliver tells Lois she's all he's thought about since leaving Metropolis they embrace and kiss. Then Lois sees the blonde vigilante woman standing on Oliver's balcony and Oliver grabs Lois and they dive over a couch as the woman unleashes her most powerful sonic scream yet. Sound waves destroy every bit of glass in the apartment and blow electronics all over the room. When Lois looks up she sees Oliver has been knocked out and then she looks to the clock tower face that concealed Oliver's Green Arrow gear but is now shattered open and Lois realizes Oliver is the Green Arrow. She turns just as the blonde attacker knocks her out and now it seems that Oliver and she are the woman's captives!
Oliver and Lois awaken tied back to back in chairs and Lois is furious that Oliver never told her while they were together that he was the Green Arrow. The blonde vigilante knocks Lois out with a punch and then Oliver tells the woman that working for Lex means she's on the wrong side. The woman explains all she's interested in is justice and that Oliver and his band have been destroying Lex's plants. Oliver tells her that no one ever got hurt in his raids and that Lex's factories are all fronts for illicit experiments and Lex has fooled her into thinking he's the victim. But the woman's not buying it and calls Lex telling him to start the wire transfer of money to her account and she'll deliver the Green Arrow. While she talks Oliver uses a hidden arrowhead to cut through his ropes. Clark returns to the Planet and helps Chloe to figure out that whoever was logged onto the Planet's computer system last night was the person who caught her stealing Lex's file and then attacked her. To Clark and Chloe's surprise the only person besides Chloe logged on was Dinah Lance, the right wing conservative radio personality! Chloe uses the computer to overlay the brunette Lance with a spiked blonde hairdo and it's obvious she's the attacker whom Clark dubs the Black Canary. Then Chloe hacks into Dinah Lance's computer to find that a money transfer to her account is taking place. Clark has Chloe block the transfer figuring that it will draw the Black Canary out of hiding.
Clark speeds to Lex's office to find the Black Canary outside it as she's about to go in and confront Lex looking for her money. Clark tells her that Oliver's trying to stop Lex from doing more harm and she's been duped by Lex. Although she's wavering she still won't tell where Oliver is and then she tries a spinning back kick to stop Clark. When she finds that's like hitting a brick wall she unleashes her sonic scream. For Clark with his super-hearing, it's incredibly painful and he collapses on the floor in agony. When he finally looks up with blood running from his ears, the Black Canary has already made good her escape! Lionel Luthor enters his office to find Lana waiting for him and she tells him she refuses to be blackmailed into helping him ruin Lex. She says she's told Clark everything and that Lionel doesn't realize just how dangerous Lex really is and then she leaves. Clark and Chloe go to Oliver's now destroyed penthouse to find Lois and they free her from her bonds and Lois tells then about the woman attacking them and that when she woke up the woman and Oliver were gone. At that moment the Black Canary is storming into Lex's mansion and she confronts him about his factories being covers for illegal activities when Lex wants to know why she didn't bring him the Green Arrow.
In response, Lex pulls a gun on her and says he's not concerned about morality and just wants what he paid for and then demands Green Arrow again. In answer the Green Arrow appears behind Lex as he fires at the Black Canary and the two men then engage in hand to hand combat with Lex firing his gun with one hand and punching with the other giving as good as he gets from the Green Arrow! The two spar wildly and when the Black Canary punches out one of Lex's security guards who enter the room and the man's gun falls to the floor. Lex is knocked close to the gun and rises shooting bullets at both the Green Arrow and the Black Canary. They respond by the Green Arrow firing an arrow at Lex and the Black Canary throwing a knife at him at the same time. Clark speeds into the room so quickly he can't be seen and he spots the knife and arrow heading for Lex and the bullets heading for the two heroes. He swats one bullet away and also Oliver's arrow, but seeing he only has time to stop the Black Canary from being shot by Lex's bullet and that the knife will hit Lex's shoulder he chooses to grab the Black Canary from the bullet's path and speeds from the room with her without anyone ever knowing he was ever there! Lex lies on the ground wounded in the shoulder by the knife and the Green Arrow wishes him better luck next time and then he leaves.
Oliver and Lois talk at his penthouse and he apologizes for never telling her he is the Green Arrow then he asks for another chance to make their relationship work. Lois says she can't deal with dual identities and always wondering where he'd be at night and she doesn't want to share him with the world. She returns to her apartment over the Talon coffee shop where Clark finds her gorging on ice cream trying to get over her failed relationship with Oliver. Clark asks why she can't at least try and make a life with Oliver work and Lois says his world is much larger then hers and there would never be room enough for her in it and she can't take anymore heartbreak knowing his destiny would always be larger then hers. Clark holds her as she cries comforting her and what she's said makes him wonder about his own life too. At his penthouse Oliver and Clark meet Dinah Lance who apologizes for letting Lex fool her into working against them and then says she's giving up her dual identity. But Oliver insists she meet his friends who were all loners once too and as they walk away Clark smiles at the thought of Oliver and his latest recruit for his Justice League.
Back at the farm Clark finds Lana packing up to leave and stay with Chloe for a few days. He tells Lana some of the crazy things he did while under red Kryptonite's influence like stealing a car and breaking into back vaults and ATMs and assures Lana he's far from perfect himself. He says he knows his dual life is an incredible strain to live under and he's not sure where their relationship will end up, but he's hoping it's not over and he hopes they'll both commit to learning to trust each other once more. They embrace and reconcile with the tension between them finally starting to dissolve which is their first step together into the always uncertain future.

Our Story:
The unlikely duo of Lex Luthor and Lois Lane are in Detroit in the pouring rain running through a lot with junk cars piled high all around them. Lex has a gun and a GPS unit he tells Lois he's using to track Kara Kent who's gone missing with amnesia and Lex tells Lois he gave Kara a necklace that emits a signal for him to find her with. Lois heads off through the lot in another direction while Lex moves forward until he spots Kara's bracelet lying in a puddle. He picks it up and sees the bracelet has engraved on it an "S" in a pentagram. But Lois finds Kara first and she's locked in a chain link cage that sits at the back of a building. Kara doesn't remember Lois who tells her she'll find some way to free her but when she turns around the man named Finley who's supposedly keeping Kara safe is standing there with a gun pointed at her. Lex runs up to the scene and finds Finley using Lois as a human shield and he tells the man to let Lois go. Lois stomps her foot down on Finley's foot and gets punched in the face for her effort. But both men now have a clear target and each takes their shot at each other at the same time. Finley falls to the ground with a shoulder wound but then we see Lex has been shot right in the middle of his forehead and with blood oozing from the bullet hole he falls to the ground and appears to be dead!
Finley ties Lois' hands behind her with duct tape and throws her in the cage with Kara and relocks it telling Kara, who he calls Linda, he'll get some money and come back for her. Kara uses a knife from Lois' purse to cut her free while Lois tells her that her real name is Kara Kent and that Lois is a friend of her cousin. Kara explains that when she showed up in Detroit with amnesia a waitress in a diner where she and Finley work took her in and befriended her but Kara says she never expected Finley to snap and take her hostage to "protect her" according to him. Next we see Lex has been found in a ditch in Detroit and then flown to Smallville Medical Center by his father Lionel who explains to Clark and Chloe that a surgeon has removed the bullet from Lex's head but he's in a coma he may never awaken from. He shows them a phone that has a picture of Lex and Kara on it which Lionel says was taken in the last 12 hours then he rushes off to talk to the doctors. Clark notices that Kara's wearing a bandage in the picture and that must mean she's lost her powers. Chloe tells Clark she recognizes the phone as Lois' and she wants to use her meteor induced power to heal Lex as he's the only one who knows where Lois and Kara are being held. But Clark reminds her that she nearly died from using her power once to save Lois' life and saving Lex may kill her.
They go to see Lana who finds a file about a Project Intercept which was developed by Luthorcorp for use by the military. It seems the device was for interrogating terrorists as it allowed the interrogator to see the terrorist's thoughts and memories. But Chloe reads in the file that the device was abandoned when it killed three of the interrogators by overloading their central nervous systems. Clark says that with his invulnerability he may be able to use the device to enter Lex's mind and survive the experience unlike the human interrogators. They go to a Luthorcorp building where they meet Lionel, who originally spearheaded the device's development. A doctor with Lionel asks Chloe and Lana to wait outside while he warns Lionel that he feels the machine is a deathtrap. Lex has been bought to the lab and he's already strapped into the machine and the doctor tells Clark that the deeper into Lex's subconscious he goes the greater the danger will be. He also tells Clark the software has been encoded with what will appear to be a red door and that Clark must use that door to leave Lex's mind and return to reality. Clark is strapped into a cot next to Lex and the machine starts up. Clark enters Lex's mind through the red door and stands within a long hallway with many doors leading off of it.
Clark sees outside a window Lex's first memory of Kara as she floated in a lake while he was trapped in a flood and Clark continues down the hallway. But as he does, we see what appears to be a young boy peering back in from the window Clark just looked out of. While the little red haired boy trails Clark down the hall, Clark enters one of the doors and finds himself in the diner where Kara had been working. He can't be seen or heard by and he watches as Finley bandages Kara's arm and then she walks over to help a customer who turns out to be Lex Luthor. Lex introduces himself and Kara tells him her name is Linda which Lex says doesn't suit her. Then she tells Lex she's been there a month and doesn't have any memory of who she really is and she shows Lex her bracelet which she says is her only link to her forgotten past. Lex says he has access to the world's best researchers and if she wants he'll be glad to help her. Suddenly the memory fades and Clark's back in the hallway being confronted by Lex dressed in white and he picks Clark up by the throat holding him in the air while he screams for Clark to get out of his head. Clark is being choked but then he's saved by the little boy who hits Lex with a baseball bat from behind knocking him out. The boy says his name is Alexander and that Lex has been trying to kill him for years and we realize that the little red haired boy is Lex as a child!
Alexander and Clark run down the halls while the boy explains that Lex considers him a weakness and that's why he's been trying to destroy him. Clark tells Alexander he's looking for Kara and Lois and Alexander says he'll look for them but for now Clark should hide in a room he brings Clark to saying it's a place Lex hasn't visited for years and he'll be safe there. Clark hesitates and Alexander tells him to trust him as they're best friends and he disappears with a smile into a hole in the wall while Clark enters the room. While Lionel and the doctor monitor the fact that Clark seems to be going too deeply into Lex's mind, we see Clark enter Alexander's room and the boy is painting a figure of Alexander the Great that he's using in an historical diorama. Then Lionel enters the room and demands to know if Alexander has gone into his briefcase and the boy denies doing so. Lionel starts knocking Alexander around and threatens him until the frightened boy tells him he saw his mother going into the briefcase. Then Lex's mother Lillian enters the room telling Lionel to leave the boy alone and she's tired of Lionel and his secrets. Lionel responds to that by knocking Lillian to the ground telling her to stay out of his business and when he leaves Alexander runs to comfort his mother.
But his mother turns on him telling Alexander that he's said enough and she leaves the room with the boy asking her not to go but now he's alone and has been rejected by both his parents. Next Clark enters another door and finds himself back in the diner where Lex is giving Kara a St. Anthony medal who Lex tells Kara is the patron saint of lost souls and we know this is the necklace that Lex has had the tracking device installed in. Kara tells Lex she's been reading about his humanitarian works and Lex says his jet's waiting to take her for treatment. Kara is worried what she'll discover about herself but Lex reassures her saying "There's nothing that's lost that can't be found again." Kara tells Lex she's going to say goodbye to Finley and as she walks away Lois is standing there having just used her phone to take the picture of Lex and Kara we saw earlier. Lois wants to know what Lex is up to with Clark's cousin and Lex says he's just trying to help Kara. Then we hear Kara scream as dishes crash and Lex and Lois run for the back of the diner and now we know this was the moment Finley snapped and kidnapped Kara. Clark is now back in the hallway and Lex grabs him telling him he's got something he wants to show him and he pushes Clark through a door where he sees Lex and Lana making love when they were married and Clark is hurt badly when he hears Lana tells Lex she'll always love him.
The doctor tells Lionel that Clark has gone too far into Lex's mind and he can't free Clark who must get to the red door on his own to escape Lex's mind. Clark flees the sight of the couple embracing each other and runs into the hall where Alexander calls to him telling him he's found Lois and Kara. The two run through Lex's mind until they find the moment when Lex and Finley shot each other and Clark picks up the GPS unit noting the location on its screen. He runs back to the hallway where he finds Lex holding Alexander in the air by his throat and Lex tells Clark he's going to kill the boy and drags him down the hall. Clark looks at the red door and decides to run after Lex to try and save Alexander. Back in the lab the doctor tells Lionel that Lex is dying and when he dies that Clark will die with him and he takes out paddles to try and start Lex's heart beating again. Chloe enters the lab and Lionel explains the situation and then the doctor tells Lionel it's too late, that Lex has died! But Chloe tells Lionel she can save Lex and when he questions how she says for him to trust her as she really can save him. Lex's mind is in his mansion den and he's got Alexander on the floor holding him down with a foot on his throat and he grabs a sword from the wall while he tells Alexander he's holding him back and he must kill him. As Chloe starts to use her power to bring Lex back from death Clark tackles Lex in his mind and the two fight each other furiously.
Chloe's power works and Lex is revived before his brain can die and Clark runs down the hall towards the red door but Alexander begs him not to leave. Clark tells the boy he must go but he makes Alexander promise to keep fighting to stay alive and he'll do his best to keep him that way in the world Clark's going back to now that he knows he exists in Lex's mind. Alexander and Clark sadly wave goodbye as Clark exits Lex's mind Êand he bolts awake in the lab telling Lionel he knows where Lois and Kara are. Then he sees Chloe lying on the floor nearly dead and Clark tells Lionel that no doctors can help her and to just take her to her apartment then he races from the room speeding for Detroit. Lois has just picked the cage's lock and she and Kara exit just as Finley pulls up in his van to get Kara. They run for the lot's gate but Finley catches up to them telling Kara if she won't come with him he'll kill both of them before he'll go back to prison. But then a pile of the junked cars falls right at Finley and Clark speeds up behind him and throws the man 50 feet sending him crashing through a crate ending his threat. Kara and Lois come around the cars blocking their view to see Finley collapsed on the ground and they both stare at him in shock and relief. Back at Smallville Medical Center Lex is getting dressed and he asks his father how was he saved when he was shot in the head?
Lionel tells Lex he used the last of a healing drug that Oliver Queen's company originally developed to save him. Lionel then surprises Lex by telling him he couldn't watch him die and that he loves him but Lex simply walks out of the room despite what his father has just finally admitted to him. Chloe wakes up back in her apartment and Clark tells her she was seemingly dead for 18 hours and almost didn't come back this time from using her power. Clark tells her he doesn't want her to ever use her power again and Chloe says she doesn't know why she's been given this ability to revive the dead but it's her decision though she admits she and Clark both have a responsibility to stay alive. But she does wonder why of all the meteor induced powers people have gained, she was the one who gained the power to save people's lives. Lex enters his mansion's den to find Clark waiting for him and Clark wants to know why Lex didn't tell him he had found Kara. Lex says he tried to call Clark but Lana kept hanging up on him and Clark tells Lex he probably doesn't even know when he's lying anymore he's gotten so used to it. Clark tells Lex he knows there's still some good in him and when Lex scoffs at that Clark says, "There's nothing lost that can't be found again". Clark leaves as Lex find himself silenced with his own words having come back to haunt him.
Later at the Talon coffee shop Lex meets with Kara telling her he's ready to take her for treatment to help her regain her memory. Kara says she likes Clark but she feels he's hiding something from her and Lex says that secrets are the reason he and Clark aren't friends anymore and when he learned that he finally grew up. He tells her he'll take her for treatment and they'll both find out the truth about her once and for all. And if Lex does discover Kara's secrets, then that means he'll find out all of Clark's secrets too.

Our Story:
Jimmy takes Kara to a gum factory that is hosting a band concert and Kara tells Jimmy that she still has amnesia and that this venue still doesn't stir up any past memories. Jimmy goes to get Kara a drink and then we see one of the roadies working for the band is Pete Ross, past Smallville resident and Clark's old best friend who is aware of all of Clark's secrets. Pete needs to get some gum for the promoter and heads into the warehouse where he sees an open case of gum and he heads towards the back of the crowd and opens the pack of gum and starts chewing a piece without noticing that the gum is giving off a green glow which we recognize as Kryptonite, the remains of Clark's home planet Krypton. Pete ends up standing fifteen feet in back of Kara and as they listen to the band suddenly one of the giant speaker arrays overhead in the scaffolding breaks loose and plummets towards Kara. Pete sees the danger and without thinking he reaches out to Kara and to our amazement we see his arms stretch like rubber the full fifteen feet to snatch Kara out of the way of the falling speakers. She turns to thank Pete and walks towards Jimmy who unbeknownst to Pete has caught the amazing feat on his camera phone he was using to take a picture of Kara!
Clark comes downstairs the next morning at the farm to find not only Lana but Lionel Luthor waiting for him. Lionel suggests that Clark take Kara to his Fortress of Solitude to try and restore her memory but Clark is wary of the Fortress since Jor-El, his biological father, kept him captive for disobeying his orders. He thinks that if they can find Kara's lost bracelet it will restore her memories and Clark resolves to recover the missing bracelet. As Lionel leaves Pete Ross comes to the door and Pete happily reunites with his old friends Lana and Clark. Lex Luthor is sitting in his study when he notices that the stars on his family crest shield are arranged in a particular constellation. Then Kara enters to see Lex as he's the one who found her lost in Detroit stripped of her memory. She tells Lex that staying at the Kent farm and reading the information he's supplied her about her life as Kara Kent have done nothing to restore her past to her. Then she asks Lex if he trusts Clark as she feels he's holding back information about her and Lex says he doesn't trust Clark and feels he's evasive. He then reassures Kara that he'll do everything he can to restore her memory and then he shows her that the symbols from her lost bracelet match those of ones that have been appearing around Smallville for years in places like the Kawatche Indian caves and in local fields and one that was once burnt on the side of the Kent farm's barn!
Lex tells Kara he feels, as we know Clark also does, that the bracelet is the key to discovering who she really is. At the Kent farm Clark loads a load of fence posts into a truck with his great strength and then Lana leaves to deliver them while Clark and Pete get reacquainted. As they play basketball Clark and Pete, who's still chewing the kryptonite laced gum, talk about how Lionel Chloe and Lana now know all of Clark's secrets and Pete is upset that Lionel has inveigled himself into the Kent family since Clark's adopted father died. Clark says that Lionel's been a big help to he and his mother but Pete doesn't trust anyone with the last name of Luthor. Pete then uses his stretching powers in the game and Clark is shocked and tries to get Pete to reverse the process and gives up these new powers. But Pete says he intends to go public with his abilities and if Clark tries to stop him he may expose Clark's secrets along with his! Jimmy enters the Daily Planet and finds Chloe having computer problems getting to her files but when she opens an e-mail from Jimmy she sees the picture Jimmy took of Pete stretching to save Kara. She tells Jimmy that Pete is one of her oldest friends and Jimmy says that Pete wants to go public and he asks Chloe to edit his article about Pete and she reluctantly agrees thinking that Pete going public will endanger any meteor enhanced person and Clark also. As Jimmy leaves Chloe sees that someone is uploading the photo of Pete in action and that someone is Lex Luthor, the new owner of the Daily Planet.
Chloe barges into Lex's office and confronts him about stealing her files and Lex reminds her that as the owner of the newspaper he therefore owns all files and she can find work elsewhere if she doesn't like it. Clark visits the gum factory and he finds Jimmy interviewing band members about Pete for his article and he tries to dissuade Jimmy from telling the public about Pete but Jimmy feels he'll make the world a better place for meteor enhanced people if he does and then he leaves. Clark walks around the warehouse and when he suddenly weakens near a pallet of gum, he shoves it aside to find a puddle of glowing Kryptonite which is what contaminated the gum that gave Pete his powers. Pete visits Chloe at the Planet and she tells him about Lex controlling all her files and says that only a massive virus in the computer system can stop Lex from accessing all her information. Then Pete shows Chloe his stretching powers and Chloe warns Pete of the danger from both Lex and the public. Pete feels that a real hero shouldn't hide in the shadows like Clark and he wants to tell the world what he can do. At the Kent farm Kara asks Lana about the symbols on her bracelet and the ones found around Smallville matching them and Lana tries to play it up to coincidence and Kara tells her she feels that Lana and Clark are lying to her. She says Lex is helping her with this information and she asks Lana to tell her the truth about herself. When Lana refuses to give her an answer Kara warns Lana that she will eventually find out about herself no matter what.
Jimmy returns to the Daily Planet and sees Pete Ross sitting at Lex's desk typing on Lex's laptop computer. From our point of view we see Pete has just uploaded a virus into the Planet's computer system. Jimmy slips into the room and hides behind some panels just before Lex walks in catches Pete at his desk. Lex tells Pete he feels that Clark has hurt both of them and that he wants Pete to use his powers to get into his father's safe as he thinks that's where Kara's bracelet is. And Jimmy is shocked to overhear Lex tells Pete that if he doesn't get the bracelet for him, he'll expose the fact that Chloe's meteor infected to the world! Clark goes to the Planet and tells Chloe he found the meteor infected gum and destroyed it but that Pete's getting more aggressive all the time from using the gum. Then they both see that Pete's virus has done its job as everyone in the building has lost computer access and Chloe rightly figures that this is Pete's doing. Then Jimmy walks up and tells them that Lex has forced Pete to go to Luthorcorp to steal something out of Lionel's safe. Pete enters Lionel's office and while chewing gum he uses his powers to stretch inside the safe and unlock its door.
He finds a box with Kryptonite and then he finds Kara's bracelet in another box, but when he turns to leave Clark is standing there. Clark warns Pete the Kryptonite is affecting his judgment but Pete insists he's just trying to stop Lex from finding out about Clark and harming Chloe. Then he shows Clark Kara's bracelet and Clark tells Pete he has to stop but Pete then opens the box with Kryptonite in it and puts it on Clark's chest as he collapses on the floor from the meteor's deadly rays. Pete tells Clark the only way for this to end is that someone must kill Lex and end his menace once and for all and as he walks out he tells Clark he intends to be the one who does it! Pete meets with Lex at the gum factory and stretches his arms using them to grab Lex by the throat and drag Lex in front of him. He starts to choke Lex but one of Lex's goons comes from behind and knocks Pete down. Then when Pete tries to use his powers he finds they have finally faded as Pete's finally run out of gum. The goon drags Pete to his feet and Pete tells Lex he never found Kara's bracelet and in response the goon twists his left arm behind him. And when Lex insists once more on where the bracelet is and Pete refuses to talks, at Lex's nod the man breaks Pete's left arm like a twig! Lionel enters his office to find Clark helpless and he puts the Kryptonite back in its box reviving Clark. Clark tells Lionel they'll talk later and then he speeds from the room to try and save Pete.
Back at the warehouse Lex's man is twisting Pete's arms behind him but Pete insists he never found Kara's bracelet and doesn't know where it is. Lex then again nods to his man and the torture continues until suddenly Clark speeds into the room faster then the eye can follow and knocks the man aside like a toy throwing him into barrels and ending his menace. Lex is stunned not knowing what just happened and then Clark speeds past him throwing him around like a doll and knocking him out on the floor. He frees Pete from the bonds he was tied in and Pete thanks him for the timely rescue. Later at the Kent farm Clark walks in with Pete who now is wearing a cast on his broken left arm. Clark and Pete now understand what it's like to carry the secret of having powers and the two reconcile to each other as friends. Pete goes to the Planet and apologizes to Chloe for his behavior and Chloe tells him she thinks he's a hero as he risked his life to keep her safe. Then they part with Pete promising not to wait three years again before they contact each other. Then Jimmy tells Chloe that he and Kara are not working out as a couple and he wants to know if Chloe and he could try to rekindle their relationship and Chloe agrees to go for coffee with Jimmy and see what develops after that. Back at the farm we see Clark enter the barn and he takes Kara's bracelet out and puts it in a box which he hides under the barn's wooden floor.
In his mansion an aide enters Lex's study telling him that the last time the stars in his family crest shield were in that position was October 7th, 1989 which Lex says was the day of the first meteor shower in Smallville. She tells Lex there's something else she's discovered but she's interrupted when Kara enters the room. The aide leaves and Kara tells Lex that she no longer feels she can trust Clark and Lana and she wants to know if she can come to stay with Lex and his smile to her answers yes she can. And as Lex walks to his den doors and closes them we see the look on his face shows the satisfaction he feels over maneuvering Kara to right where he wants her, under his control.

Our Story:
It's night and we see Lionel Luthor working at his desk when an aide delivers what he says is a letter similar to several he's already gotten. Lionel opens the envelope and though we don't see what's on the card inside; from the worried look on his face we know it's something serious. Next we see Clark enter the barn at the Kent farm and he goes to his loft where he opens a book inside where he's hidden the key from the spaceship which first bought him to our planet. Then he hears someone sneaking around and he sees shadows moving around and he calls out asking who's there. In response a wired taser dart flies into his left shoulder and the tip and it's connecting wire are glowing green which we knows means Kryptonite's being used. ÊClark tears the dart from his shoulder just as a man dressed in black tactical gear attacks him. The man and Clark crash through the railings tumbling down from the loft to the barn floor and Clark throws the man across the room where he crashes into some crates. The man speaks into a microphone on his shoulder and suddenly an entire squad of black clad soldiers enters the room, each shooting Clark with kryptonite darts and a Hummer vehicle crashes through the barn doors. Clark is on his knees writhing in pain when the man who first attacked him punches him hard saying he can see why "they" want Clark. Clark collapses unconscious and we can only wonder who's behind this successful abduction!
Later on Lana enters the barn with Chloe arriving also after Lana called her. They survey the damage of the struggle from earlier and Lana tells Chloe that Clark had intended to take his cousin Kara to the Fortress of Solitude in the hope that his father Jor-El would restore her lost memory and powers. Chloe finds the key Clark had intended to use to open the portal to the Fortress and then they spot one of the Kryptonite taser darts on the barn floor and they both now know for sure that something terrible has happened to Clark. Clark wakes up in a lab and he's inside a Plexiglas cage with vertical and horizontal gridlines across its surface with a metal grid floor. When he nears the wall and is about to touch it, the cage glows green and Clark reacts in pain to the exposure to Kryptonite. A voice coming from an enclosure above the lab which has one way glass in it tells Clark to stay in the center of the cell. The man who led the attack on Clark raises a lever on a console and the bars and floor of Clark's cage grow ever brighter with a green glow. The man tells Clark that was a 20% increase in power of the meteor rock lining his cell and he'll raise it to 50% if he has to and to 100% if he wants to kill Clark. As if to make his point he rams the lever higher and now Clark collapses to the cell floor in agonizing pain. On a dock across the river from Metropolis Lionel Luthor meets with Patricia Swann who is the daughter of the late Dr. Virgil Swann who was the foremost authority on Clark and his origins.
She admits she's the one who's been sending Lionel the cards he's been worrying over and she tells Lionel she knows from her father's research of the secret society named Veritas which consisted of Dr. Virgil Swann, Oliver Queen's parents, the Teagues, and Lionel Luthor. Their secret cabal knew of a traveler from another galaxy who had come to Earth in a meteor shower. They wanted to greet the traveler and assure his safety here on our planet and now Patricia says she's convinced that Lionel had the entire group killed so only he could possess the traveler and the powers he would have. Lionel denies all of this but Patricia Swann says she has evidence linking Lionel to the murders and if he doesn't turn the last son of Krypton over to her she'll go to the authorities with her evidence. Lionel tells her she's out of her league dealing with him and she could be cautious about crossing him and with that he leaves. Kara Kent, who is Clark's cousin from Krypton, is sitting in a room in Lex Luthor's mansion where she's come to stay. Lex enters telling her she should undergo treatment by his team of neurologists to restore her lost memory and Kara finally relents and agrees which pleases Lex. Lex tells an aide to prepare the lab for Kara and if she shows any sign of regaining her memory before that he wants the mansion locked down as Kara may have answers to questions he has had for a long time.
Lionel enters the lab where Clark is being held to find the man named Pierce raising the kryptonite level to the point of torture. Lionel admonishes Pierce telling him no more cruelty towards Clark and that he's responsible for their captive's well being. Lana and Chloe see Lionel showing him the Kryptonite dart they found and he lies to them telling them he's got all his agencies looking for Clark and then he says that perhaps Kara regained enough memory to tell Lex about Clark's weakness to Kryptonite. He feigns concern that his son would harm Clark and says that a Luthorcorp division named LX Dynamics deals with military gear like the taser darts and he'll look into it. Chloe and Lana go to the Daily Planet and through their research they find the location of a recently made active LX Dynamics building that contains the equipment and meteor rocks that could hold Clark captive. But they also learn that Lionel Luthor, not Lex, is the one who had the lab built and they reason correctly that he's responsible for Clark's kidnapping. They figure they must get Kara's help and restore her memories and powers if Clark is to be saved. Lana tells Chloe that when she was married to Lex he showed her secret passages he had built in case of a home invasion and they figure to enter Lex's mansion through those tunnels to get Kara and take her to the Fortress using Clark's key that they found in the barn earlier.
Patricia Swann visits Lex as they were childhood friends and Lex compliments her on a beautiful cameo necklace she wears. Patricia says her father left to her when he died and she's never taken it off. Then she gives Lex a painting he made as a child. She says the "V" on it signifies a group that their parents and the Queens and Teagues belonged to but she also tells Lex she doesn't know what the group was for. She says that Lionel is the only surviving member and that Lex should ask his father if he wants to know more. Lex sees Lionel asking him about Veritas and the fact that he's the only one in the group still alive but Lionel insists it was just an astronomy club. Lex says he'll get the information from Patricia Swann then and he leaves. After he does Lionel calls Patricia Swann saying he's ready to swap Clark for the incriminating evidence against him. Just as Lex is ready to take Kara for her treatment, Chloe and Lana get into her room in the mansion and ask her to trust them and please go with them. When Lex sees the camera feed to Kara's room and the rest of the mansion go offline, he and his security team rush to Kara's room but there is no trace of her. Where he's held captive, the man Pierce finally confronts Clark to his face telling him he was Lex's head of security for his 33.1 labs which were built for investigating meteor infected people. Pierce feels Clark is the most dangerous person to ever be infected and too dangerous to be left alive.
Chloe uses the spaceship key and opens a portal which she and Kara go through to Clark's Fortress of Solitude at the North Pole. There she begs Jor-El to restore Kara's powers and memory to save Clark because she loves him. For long seconds there's no answer then suddenly a shaft of bright white energy surrounds Kara and lifts her 25 feet into the air. It flashes with otherworldly power for a few seconds then drops Kara to the Fortress floor. When Kara stands she asks Chloe what they're doing at the Fortress so we know Jor-El has listened to Chloe's pleas. Chloe tells Kara that Clark has been captured and only she can save him. Patricia Swann arrives in the control booth above the lab where Clark is held captive. She tells Lionel she has the evidence but she wants to verify Clark is the Traveler and if he is then she intends to leave with him at once. Pierce knocks her out from behind and Lionel tells him to put Patricia Swann on a jet to Europe and then return Clark to the Kent farm. But Pierce then turns his gun on Lionel telling him he can't allow Clark to live. Lionel pleads for Clark's life but Pierce just knocks him out with his gun and then strides to the control panel and turns its power to maximum. The cage that holds Clark glows bright with green and deadly radiation and now Clark is only seconds from death. But the lab doors suddenly explode inward and standing at them is Kara with all her powers now restored. She glares at the control panel by the cage and twin beams of heat-vision flare from her eyes exploding the panel and stopping the Kryptonite directed at Clark. She walks to the cage and tears it off its base with ease tossing it up through the air. It flies into the one way glass of the control room above the lab and sends Pierce flying across the room stunning him.
Pierce recovers and stands in the window frame of the shattered control room and he aims a Kryptonite taser rifle at Clark and Kara. But then he's struck from behind with a length of pipe and he falls to the lab floor where he's impaled on a steel beam's remains. The man who would kill Kryptonians has now paid for his crimes with his own death. Clark and Kara look up to the smashed control room and Clark is both shocked and angered to see it is Lionel Luthor who hit Pierce with the pipe sending him to his death. Back at the Kent farm, Patricia Swann gives Clark the last of her father's journals and he thanks her and sits to glance through it. It's filled with notes and many passages are written in Kryptonian language. Clark sees one towards the end which he translates as saying, "The Traveler will bring great change to the Earth", and he worries just what that change will be composed of. Patricia tells him she feels he's a force for good in the world. She also tells how Lionel had Robert and Laura Queen's plane sabotaged and he also had Edward Teague and her father poisoned. She feels that good and evil always coexist and that Clark's powers will always attract those who would use his powers for their own goals. She says that Lionel's a constant danger to Clark but he reassures her he'll deal with Lionel by himself.
Clark confronts Lionel at Luthorcorp and Lionel insists that Patricia Swann was threatening to kidnap him and he was just trying to protect Clark from his enemies. Clark says the tasers, the cage, and the Veritas murders show Lionel's true character and he feels that Lionel is evil and he walks away from the elder Luthor. Back at the farm Clark returns Kara's bracelet to her and she asks why the Luthors can seem so good and do so much bad? Clark responds saying that the Luthors only seem to do good if they can benefit from it and though he looks for the good in people, he feels the Luthors are a lost cause. Patricia Swann is being driven back to Metropolis when her driver pulls over for no reason. The man stands outside her door and she lowers the window asking why they've stopped and he answers by pulling a gun and killing her! Next we see Lex in his study and he's holding Patricia Swann's cameo necklace in his hands wiping her blood off of it. He holds up his painting of the Veritas crest and compares it next to the necklace. He has shown he will kill anyone who gets in the way of his thirst for the truth and Patricia Swann was simply the latest of his victims who dared to stand in his way.

Our Story:
Kara is working at the Kent farm feeding the horses when she hears Shelly barking in the barn so she enters it. She sees someone pass by the window and then Brainiac, the living computer from Krypton, comes in to talk to her. He tells her he can return her to Krypton and Kara says that's her past and she likes it where she is. He says he needs her help and insists there's a way for her to return to Krypton and save her loved ones. She refuses and then Clark speeds into the barn and throws Brainiac through the wall and also a couple of outbuildings until he crashes through the watermill sending water gushing in the air. They go outside and Brainiac rises up telling them not to complain if now someone gets hurt. At super-speed he crashes through Clark and Kara sending them sprawling and then he flies off into the sky creating a sonic boom and Kara and Clark can only stare after him and then at each other. Clark explains that it wasn't a man they saw but a living computer and Kara says the name Brainiac when he describes him. He says that Brainiac tried to make Clark resurrect Zod, the military dictator from Krypton, and he wonders what he wants now and Kara says he wanted her.
Kara also tells Clark she thinks he should now let her teach him how to fly so they will be on equal terms when Brainiac returns. At the Daily Planet Lois Lane is having trouble coming up with a story and Jimmy asks her if they could work together on a story to help his career along. Lois gets an e-mail that says that Patricia Swann, daughter of the late Dr. Vigil Swann who was Clark's mentor on all things about Krypton, has been shot to death and she tells Jimmy she now knows what story they'll be working on together. At his mansion Lex Luthor's aide enters his den telling him that she's covered all his tracks and no one can trace to him the fact he obtained Patricia Swann's necklace which her father left her when he died. He tells his aide that he has found out about the secret society called Veritas and that the knowledge has been close to him for years. He says that since he was shot in Detroit, where he found Kara when she had amnesia, he's had repressed memories returning to him and they held the answers he'd forgotten about Veritas. And as he speaks one of those memories returns and he sees himself playing with the other children whose parents are part of Veritas. They play hide and go seek and Lex runs into a closet to hide and on the closets baseboard is a vent through which Lex can sees his father Lionel and two more members of Veritas, Robert Queen and Edward Teague.
Lionel is trying to convince Teague and Queen to open an envelope that Dr. Swann has sealed which contains classified information about the Traveler they've been waiting for and we know that they are referring to Clark, the last son of Krypton. Lionel feels that Swann's trying to take control of their knowledge to use the Traveler and the other two men remind Lionel they formed Veritas to keep the Traveler's existence a secret and to protect him. They also say their families have protected the Traveler's secrets for generations and they won't betray their trust. Queen tells Lionel the secrets in the envelope are being flown to Zurich and locked in a bank vault lest anyone decide to use the Traveler's powers for their own selfish ends. The envelope will only be opened if the Traveler proves to be a danger to humanity. Young Lex then sees Mr. Queen open his necklace and inside it is a key for the bank vault he just spoke of. Then Dr. Swann arrives and with that Lex's daydream ends and he opens Patricia Swann's necklace to discover it holds one of the Veritas bank keys. He gives it to his aide telling her to find the bank in Zurich which holds the vault they're looking for that the key will open.
Lionel Luthor enters Luthorcorp and in the hallway we see him pass Jimmy and Lois who are disguised as plant tenders. They follow Lionel into his office insisting on a statement about Patricia Swann's murder. Lois says she knows that Lionel was the last person Swann spoke to before being killed and Jimmy shows Lionel autopsy photos of Swann which show that the necklace she wore her whole life had been torn from her neck after her death and it's missing. At that Lionel has security enter the room and they escort Lois and Jimmy from the building. After they go Lionel remove his own Veritas necklace and opens it to reveal he too carries one of the keys to the vault which holds Clark's secrets inside it. At the farm Kara's been trying to get Clark to try and fly but he won't do it and insists he doesn't yet have that ability. He says they've got to find a way to track Brainiac and Kara thinks that since he uses so much energy that they must watch for power source high usages to find him. Lana is working at her Isis Foundation when Brainiac enters the room and then he grabs her and his fingers change into probes which he puts into her forehead and eyes. Lana goes slack and stands there like a zombie which causes the maniac computer to smile!
Clark goes to the Daily Planet and as Chloe comes in he shows her that Patricia Swann has been murdered and they wonder if Lionel's responsible since he is the last surviving member of Veritas. Then Chloe sits at her computer and tells Clark Brainiac has been all over the planet causing power surges wherever he steals energy to run himself. Then Chloe sees there has just been a power surge near the Isis Foundation and Clark goes to save Lana but when he enters the foundation he finds Lionel Luthor who Clark wants no part of. Lionel says he didn't kill Patricia Swann and he even tries to give Clark his Veritas necklace but Clark refuses it. When Lionel says that Lana had a visitor whom she left with Clark fears that Brainiac has her and he speeds away. After he leaves Lionel puts his Veritas necklace into an envelope with Lana's name on it and he leaves it on Lana's desk. Clark speeds to the Kent farm and finds Lana by the stove and she's holding a pot boiling water on the stove and she's oblivious to the fact her hand has been badly burnt while she stood there. Then he looks into her eyes and sees they've been covered in a milky film and Lana is not responding in any way. Kara walks in and sees the injured Lana and then Lana walks over to a pen and pad and while staring into space she writes a message in Kryptonese that Clark translates as "Daily Planet. Bring Kara".
Kara speeds out of the room while Clark talks to Lana but she hears nothing or doesn't seem to and just stares away into the distance. Back at the Isis Foundation, Lois and Jimmy enter as they've trailed Lionel when he went there. They enter Lana's secret computer room which has been left open. Inside it they find an envelope which has pictures inside it and one shows Patricia Swann's driver who is accused of shooting her and then the man disappeared. But another picture shows the same man standing with Lex Luthor so now Jimmy and Lois know that the killer was working for Lex Luthor and not his father Lionel! At his office in the Daily Planet, which he recently bought, Lex Luthor's aide tells him that two keys are required to open the vault in Zurich and at that another of Lex's repressed memories surfaces. He remembers being at Luthorcorp watching his father and a man comes in telling Lionel that the Queen's are dead in a plane crash and then the man gives him Robert Queen's Veritas necklace which was found in the wreckage. Then Lionel tells some one unknown over the phone that with the knowledge in the bank vault they can control the Traveler. Then Lionel hangs up the phone and exits his office telling Lex that they're taking a helicopter ride to a little town outside the city called Smallville. As father and son leave we realize this happened the day of the first meteor shower and after that everyone's lives changed forever!
Clark speeds to the Daily Planet's roof where he finds Kara ready to surrender herself to Brainiac. Brainiac arrives and says that he's the only one who can save Lana and that she's helpless to do anything but what he commands and that Lana's in constant pain. Kara agrees to go with Brainiac to save Lana and she flies away and then Brainiac follows her. They roar through the sky and off the planet into space. They fly far away into space until suddenly they disappear in a great explosion which is bright blue in the aftermath leaving no sign of the two! Chloe finds Lionel Luthor in her office and again he says he didn't have Patricia Swann killed but Chloe doesn't believe him. He begs Chloe to try and get Clark to believe him as Clark has turned away from Jor-El and is in great danger. He says that after Jor-El made him his emissary on Earth all he's wanted it to protect Clark and hopefully find redemption for what he did in the past. But Chloe won't listen and she strides out of the room leaving a desperate Lionel in her wake. Chloe meets Clark at the hospital that Lana was taken to and she tells Clark she can find no trace of either Kara or Brainiac.
Then Clark is led into a corridor where Lana sits in a chair by the window. He kneels at her feet and she just keeps staring off into space until she whispers to him, "Kal-El. Kal-El, you're too late", then she falls silent again. At these words Clark can't stand her blank stare so he closes her eyes for her. Then as Chloe enters the hallway she sees Clark kneeling at Lana's feet sobbing quietly and she starts to cry at the sight. We know the words Lana said are Brainiac's, but Clark feels the pain of failing to stop the evil computer from hurting those he loves.

Our Story:
Lionel Luthor enters his office at Luthorcorp to find his son Lex waiting for him. Lex wants to know if Lionel has finally found the Traveler, the alien who supposedly came to Earth years ago and the object of the group called Veritas which Lex's father once belonged to and is the only surviving member of. Lionel denies there is any Traveler and insists Lex is following a false path to find any such being. Lex says he knows his father went to Smallville the day of the first meteor shower years ago so he could meet the Traveler upon his arrival. He demands his father tell him who the Traveler is that Lionel would sacrifice his own son to find him and Lionel opines that perhaps Lex is the Traveler since he's survived so many near death experiences. Lex tells Lionel he wants the second key he has so he can open the box that's inside a bank in Zurich, the box containing the means to controlling the Traveler. Lionel tells Lex if he opens the box he'll succumb to the dark path to power and will destroy himself. In response Lex pulls out a pistol and shoots open the window behind his father. He tells Lionel he's lived in his shadow his whole life and now Lionel will die in his shadow. Then he calmly shoves his father out the window and watches as he plummets to the ground and dies!
At the Daily Planet, Chloe and Clark search for any sign of his enemy Brainiac and his cousin Kara but Chloe can find no trace of them on the planet. Clark is anxious as Lana sits in an asylum from Brainiac using his mad science on her. The newsroom then becomes very busy and people start running back and forth. Lois Lane comes in and tells Clark and Chloe that it's rumored that Lionel Luthor has jumped out his office window across the street and they all run to the scene. Lex stands on the steps of Luthorcorp where his father's body lies and he tells the police lieutenant that he was working down the hall when his father jumped then he looks under the sheet and identifies his father. Then Lex sees himself as a young red-headed boy standing on the steps and his younger self accuses Lex of murdering their father. Clark is on the other side of the police barricade and he follows Lex as he leaves the scene. Clark tells Chloe that even though Lionel was unsettled lately he can't believe he's kill himself and that Lionel had been trying to give Clark a locket for some unknown reason. Lex is now back in his mansion den in Smallville when his aide Gina enters consoling him on his father's death. She sees Lex now has his father's locket but she notes that the key that was inside it is gone.
She tells Lex that his father stopped at the Daily Planet before his death and Lex has her prepare his helicopter to leave. Again Lex's younger self appears saying he can't believe Lex killed their father over a locket and Lex throws his drink into the fireplace insisting he had no choice in the matter. Clark is standing in Lionel's office looking at the window he fell from and then he enters the large walk-in safe in the room. Inside he finds an eight-sided cylinder which had Kryptonian sigils on its side. He rotates the cylinder until all the symbols are aligned and it shines a holographic image on the wall using the Kryptonian language as Lionel's voice speaks. The message tells Clark that Lionel is happy he ended his life protecting Clark as it was a duty he accepted in his life. But there are two lockets which contain keys with which someone could discover the means to control him and his destiny. It says that now Clark must protect himself by recovering the keys before someone else does. Lois enters the Planet to find Jimmy has found surveillance footage which in the background shows that someone might have pushed Lionel to his death. They decide to upload the footage to the more powerful computers in Lana's Isis foundation and then have Chloe use her computer skills to enhance the scene to reveal the killer's identity.
Chloe sits at her desk in the Planet and she finds the key Lionel left there, the very one Lex is looking for. Lex then enters the room asking if his father gave her anything when he visited before his death but Chloe denies he ever left anything with her. Lex opens her desk to discover the key and he tells Chloe she's fired and he has security escort her from the building. Lex's aide Gina says she'll clean out Chloe's desk of any personal belongings so Lex leaves. On her desk, Chloe's phone buzzes with an incoming text message and Gina sees that it claims Lionel's death isn't a suicide and to come to the archive room to see the picture proving it. Lois and Jimmy are about to leave the room to follow the story but they're met at the door by Gina pointing a gun at them. Gina marches them to the basement outside the large freezer the Planet's cafeteria uses. She tells them she's deleted the picture from the Planet mainframe but she wants to know where Jimmy uploaded it to. Jimmy denies he ever uploaded the picture and then Lois tries to stop Gina who calmly shoots Lois in the shoulder for her effort. At that Jimmy admits he uploaded the picture to the Isis foundation and Gina locks them both in the walk-in freezer saying she'll release them when she returns.
Clark and Chloe meet at the Isis foundation and they exchange stories about Chloe being fired and Lex getting the key and Clark receiving Lionel's message. Chloe tells Clark it will take hours to define the picture to identify the killer and Clark goes to Lex's mansion to confront him about the key he took. Clark enters Lex's study and finds Lionel's locket now empty of the key Lex has. Then Lex comes in telling Clark to leave even as his younger self tells Lex to confide in Clark. Lex is angry that both Clark's father and his preferred Clark as a son over Lex and that Clark rejected his friendship. Clark says he tried to be Lex's friend but his insistence on power and control made it impossible. Lex feels that the strange events surrounding Smallville prove someone has to protect our planet but Clark insists Lex is delusional about any threats to humanity. Lex says he thinks that Jonathan Kent died from the strain of keeping Clark's secrets but Clark says that Lex is the one who killed his own father and this time he has the proof to back it up. At the Isis foundation Chloe has refined the blurred photo to the point where she can see that is was Lex that pushed his father out the window. But Gina comes from behind and knocks Chloe out and then deletes the photo. Clark returns to meet Chloe and Gina hears him entering the building and hides. Clark finds Chloe on the floor and he revives her and she tells Clark she saw the proof of Lex's crime but someone attacked her and destroyed it.
Chloe tells Clark that if Lex gets the keys he'll turn Clark against the world and Gina stands in the shadows listening to all they say. Then Clark realizes Jimmy and Lois aren't there and Chloe worries that whoever attacked her first went after them. Clark speeds to the Daily Planet unaware that Gina has overheard his conversation and seen him speed from the room. Clark enters the Planet and using his super-hearing he finds Jimmy and Lois in the freezer and both are unconscious. He bathes them in gentle waves of his heat-vision warming their bodies back to safe levels and then leaves just as they awaken to find the door now unlocked. Gina leaves the Isis foundation and calls Lex leaving him a message saying she knows who the Traveler is. But before she can enter her car a man comes from behind her and sprays a deadly toxin into her mouth while he holds her. Then as she dies he puts her in her car and leaves her in the driver's seat as she breathes her last breath on earth. Lex is sitting in his den telling someone to prepare his jet for a flight to Zurich when his younger self appears telling him not to forsake the good that's still inside him.
Young Lex begs the older one not to go to Zurich and open the box as it will destroy him but then Lex drags his young alter ego down the stairs and tells him this side of him makes him weak and he throws his young self into the fireplace! As Lex stands up from this frightful deed we see from his expression he has indeed expunged the last bit of good from his soul and his journey into the darkness of evil is now complete. Chloe finds Clark in his barn loft back at the farm and he tells her that now three men have died to protect him; his biological father Jor-El, his adopted father Jonathan, and now Lionel. Chloe remarks that those three men died to give something to help humanity and it's up to Clark to use what they taught him. Clark wonders how anyone can kill their own father and Chloe remarks that evil is best defined as the absence of love which seems to describe Lex now. Clark vows to Chloe that he'll make sure Lex never kills again. Later Clark goes to Lionel's funeral despite the fact that Lex has closed it to anyone but himself. As the two men stand on opposite sides of Lionel's grave they glare at each other and we can see that they are now polar opposites to each other, two opposing forces whose roles have cast them against each other for the rest of their lives. Lex leaves the graveyard and only Clark is left to sprinkle dirt on Lionel's coffin, a reminder that he will honor Lionel's sacrifice in his name.

Our Story:
At the Aces of Clubs nightclub in Metropolis the well-to-do walk around in formal dress and party to their heart's content. But in the duct system of the building we see a man clad all in black crawling through the ductwork until she spots a man walking with a briefcase. The man in black jumps down out of the ceiling and uses a taser to shock the briefcase bearer unconscious. Then he opens the high-tech lock on the briefcase and finding a data-pod he then copies the information from the pod into one of his own. After that he enters an elevator and doffs his outer jumpsuit to reveal a tuxedo and stashes his equipment in the elevator ceiling. And when he prepares to exit the elevator to join the partiers we're surprised to see the would-be spy is none other then Jimmy Olsen! Now it's 14 hours earlier and we see Jimmy working hard to prepare a gourmet breakfast for Chloe and himself. As Jimmy cooks Chloe enters the kitchen begging off the breakfast citing a meeting she's already late for. Jimmy tells Chloe he feels that since they've starting seeing each other again he feels she's not trying hard enough to strengthen their relationship.
Chloe says that since Lana was incapacitated she's had to take over Lana's Isis Foundation for the meteor-infected and her time isn't hers anymore. She promises to meet Jimmy for lunch and leaves as Jimmy starts to clean up the kitchen, but we see a woman is watching Jimmy from a rooftop across from the apartment. Clark enters the Isis Foundation and Chloe tells him he must make finding the keys to a safe deposit box in Zurich that Lex Luthor is about to open a priority. Whatever is inside the box is supposedly something that can be used to control Clark and that's the clear and present danger, but all Clark wants is to find Brainiac and free Lana from the catatonic state Brainiac left her in. Clark tells Chloe he wants her to use government satellites to try and track down where Brainiac has gone to with his cousin Kara and Chloe agrees to try but she asks Clark to start studying the late Dr. Virgil Swann's journal. The Doctor intercepted Jor-El's transmissions to Earth and Chloe thinks there might be information in them concerning Brainiac and Clark agrees to look at the journal. Jimmy is playing a video game on his data-pod when the woman who was watching him introduces herself to him. She says she's Special Agent Vanessa Weber from the Department of National Security and she says Jimmy's been hacking into government mainframe computers but we know it's actually Chloe doing so.
Agent Webber tells Jimmy she knows it's Chloe who's been doing the hacking and her department believes her to be part of a terrorist sleeper cell and then she gives Jimmy a suitcase filled with spy equipment. She says unless Jimmy finds out what Chloe's goal is with all her unauthorized entry into high security computers, Jimmy's going to federal prison for a long, long time. Jimmy meets Chloe at the Isis Foundation for lunch but again Chloe says she can't make it. Then a text message from Clark arrives and Chloe runs off to meet him leaving Jimmy worrying that Agent Webber might be right about her. Lex Luthor is about to fly to Zurich to get whatever is in the safe deposit box when his aide informs him the FAA has red-flagged Lex making it impossible for him to fly out of the country. Jimmy returns to the Isis Foundation and using the equipment Agent Webber gave him he gets into the building and then installs spy ware software on the computer which shows that Chloe has indeed been entering National Security Administration computers illegally. Chloe returns to her apartment over the Talon coffee shop to find Clark and Dr. Swann's journal which Clark says has new entries in it that according to the notes are transmissions from Krypton back in 1989!
Clark claims the new entries are appearing by themselves despite the fact they're from the past, and the latest one says in Kryptonian to "Save Lana at the Fortress"! Chloe warns Clark how Jor-El has been contentious with Clark and may prove difficult but Clark is determined to do whatever it takes to save Lana. Jimmy visits Clark at the Kent farm just as Clark is about to use his spaceship's key to travel to his Fortress of Solitude. Jimmy says he's worried about a "female friend" who's acting suspiciously and Clark reassures Jimmy that if he trusts his "friend" he will find she is doing whatever she's doing for a greater good. After Jimmy leaves Clark travels to the Fortress and yells for Jor-El to speak with him and explain the transmission from the past about Lana. Instead Clark is answered by his cousin Kara's voice and she says she's returned to Krypton and Brainiac is trying to kill Clark. Chloe's back at the Isis Foundation and she's found a satellite center that might have a lead on Brainiac but the building is difficult to gain access to. But when she sees the Ace of Clubs nightclub is also in the building she figures to get Jimmy to take her there and then access the satellite data. But then her software tells her that not only is someone spying on what she does, but that someone is Jimmy Olsen!
Agent Webber meets Jimmy telling him of Chloe's plan of entry using the Ace of Clubs and she also says that whatever Chloe is after Jimmy must get to first or it's federal prison for Chloe and Jimmy. While at the club that night Jimmy distracts Chloe while copying data from her PDA as they dance. Afterwards they separate while Jimmy goes into the duct work and Chloe heads into the data center in the building and she studies satellite data for signs of Kara and Brainiac. Now we've caught up to the beginning of our story where Jimmy knocks out the man with the briefcase and steals the data he's carrying. Jimmy returns to the nightclub to find Agent Webber there and he gives her the data he just got from the briefcase. But Agent Webber looks at it and tells Jimmy that Chloe has tricked him into stealing a file of useless information and she has an agent take Jimmy away saying she's stepping in to take of Chloe personally. Chloe has found that Kara and Brainiac have traveled through a vortex in space far away from Earth. But then Agent Webber enters the data center arresting Chloe at gunpoint. As the other agent is taking Jimmy away he uses a trick cufflink from his spy gear to knock the man out with a drug tipped dart.
Jimmy finds Chloe being beaten by Agent Webber in the data center as she refuses to answer any questions and he downloads his video game from his PDA into the data center's screens distracting Agent Webber and her fellow agent. He then uses knockout gas on one agent but then Agent Webber attacks Jimmy with flying feet and fists. But Jimmy gives as well as he gets and with a strong right hand roundhouse punch he knocks Agent Webber out. Jimmy revives Chloe and takes her back to her apartment where they both confront each other about their actions for the past couple of weeks but thankfully they reconcile with each other and put the spark back in their renewed relationship. Jimmy also tells Chloe that he's made sure that the government is through going after them but he refuses to say just how he accomplished that. Lex has finally reached Zurich where he opens the safety deposit box and inside he finds a piece of metal with several intersecting wheel graphs which when aligned properly they spell the letter "V" which stands for Veritas the secret society which followed Clark from Krypton to Earth in the hopes of protecting him. Whatever this strange instrument portends Lex seems to know but we're given no clue. And then the man who escorted Lex to the room where he opened the box attacks Lex trying to strangle him but Lex manages to overpower his attacker and he heads back to Metropolis and his office in the Daily Planet which he now owns.
Jimmy enters the office and makes a deal with Lex to get the government off his and Chloe's backs and Lex tells Jimmy he's already taken care of it but he expects Jimmy to be helpful to him in return someday. As Jimmy leaves Lex's office the look on his face tells us he understands all too well that he's made a deal with the devil and that someday sooner or later Lex will make him pay for this favor. That night Chloe meets Clark in his barn loft and she shows him photos she obtained that show Krypton next to a red star and then when the vortex closes the sun and planet have disappeared. She reasons that the vortex Kara and Brainiac traveled through is actually a portal through time and that Kara and Brainiac have returned to Krypton in 1989 where Clark is still a baby. That would explain the messages appearing in Dr. Swann's journal and Kara sending Clark a message in the Fortress that Brainiacs's trying to kill Clark on Krypton. And Chloe says to Clark if he wants to stop Brainiac from killing him as a baby and retroactively wiping out his life on Earth, that Clark must now find a way through the vortex and travel back to his birth planet to save his own life!

Chloe thinks Clark should head for Krypton at once and Clark says that Kara has told him to take his spaceship's key to the Fortress of Solitude and then Jor-El can send Clark back to the day Krypton exploded. But Clark thinks that he's done nothing but cause suffering to those around him due to his presence here and everyone would be better off if he had never come to our world. Chloe puts the octagonal disk in his hand insisting he not let Brainiac destroy his life but Clark's adamant that all would be better off without him here. Suddenly his spaceship key shoots energy from its center enveloping Clark and all grows bright until then Clark finds himself awakening on the barn floor with no sign of Chloe. A young man appears in the barn doorway asking Clark what he's doing there and Clark asks who he is and the young man shocks Clark by telling him his name is Clark Kent and he lives there!
Clark runs into the house and sees a picture of Ma and Pa Kent with this young Clark he's just met and then Clark is happy to hear his father is alive in this different reality. But this different young Clark tells him that his parents are away on a cruise and not at home and offers his help. But our Clark tells him he just needs his phone book as he wants to look up his friends to make sure they're all right. Clark goes to Metropolis and finds Chloe but she doesn't know him in this life and he plays it off saying he needs her help to find Lana Lang but again Chloe not only doesn't know Lana, but she and her fiancŽe are late for an appointment! Clark congratulates the lucky couple telling Chloe he's really happy for her and then he heads for the Daily Planet. There he finds Jimmy Olsen and using flattery about Jimmy's photos he gets him to help find Lana Lang. Jimmy uses the Daily Planet's computers to search for Lana and he finds out that Lana is now living in Paris with her husband and two children! Clark is happy for a second time knowing that Lana has found happiness in this world where he never existed. Then Clark turns and bumps into Lois Lane who is attracted to Clark and tells him to meet her after work for a beer. But government agents from the D.D.S., the Department for Domestic Security, suddenly walk into the room and arrest Lois for possessing secret government documents. And the head of the Department directing the arrest is Clark's cousin Kara who warns Clark not to interfere with their actions!
As they take Lois away Jimmy explains who Kara is and that she got her appointment from none other then the President of the United States, Lex Luthor! Jimmy explains that Lex used fear-mongering over meteor infected people after the meteor shower and had them all rounded up and came off as the hero when the meteors struck and he rode that opportunity into the White House. Jimmy is about to destroy a letter Lois told him to deliver when Clark grabs it from him and reads it asking Jimmy where he was supposed to deliver it. Clark convinces Jimmy, by holding him off the ground against a set of shelves, to say that he was going to deliver it to someone at the end of the bar in the Ace of Clubs nightclub which Clark then heads for. There he sees the ex-sheriff of Smallville and he gives her the paper Jimmy was supposed to deliver. Sheriff Adams tells Clark she now works for the government and Clark rightly figures that she was Lois' informant on the inside. Agent Adams tries to leave but Clark speeds in front of her insisting she tell him where Lois would have been taken as a prisoner. Then we see DDS agents bringing Lois to a secure facility for questioning and Kara heads into the building but a moment later Clark speeds in knocking the agents out and running off with Lois who is now even more smitten by Clark as her rescuer.
Lois directs Clark to Jimmy's loft where she says she has proof that President Luthor is lying about foreign powers putting nuclear missiles close to our country and then she plays a recording where Lex says that the only option now is for our country to attack first. Clark wonders why Lex would want to start a nuclear war but then he sees on the recording that Lois shows him that the Chief of Staff for Lex is none other then Brainiac! Clark tells Lois that the man she knows as Milton Fine is actually an inhuman machine whose goal is to destroy the human race. Clark now realizes that his not being around has allowed Lex and Brainiac to act unopposed and he did play an important role on Earth. Lois says that Lex is holding a press conference in Smallville after which he'll be flown to safety while the attack commences and Clark wants to get into that conference to stop the nuclear strike. Lois warns Clark he must go as a reporter pretending to cover the event to allow him to get close enough to get to the all important briefcase that has the nuclear attack codes inside it. She has Clark dress up in a suit and gives him her press pass to get him inside and as a last minute touch she puts a pair of glasses on Clark so for the first time we see Clark appearing as we know he'll look in our future. Clark enters the mansion following other reporters and he uses his super-hearing to find Lex while he's berating Kara for letting Lois escape from custody. Kara insists she's loyal to Lex but he doesn't want to hear it and then she tells Lex his real enemy is Milton Fine but Lex reminds her that Fine got him elected.
Then Kara says she's always used her powers on Lex's behalf and she shows Lex a letter that proves Milton Fine's been falsifying reports about missiles aimed at out country. Lex burns the letter telling Kara he knows the missiles aren't really threatening us and it was his plan all along. Kara doesn't want this planet destroyed as Krypton was but Lex reminds her how his father found her ship and died keeping her secrets and he wants unswerving loyalty in return. As Milton Fine enters the room telling Lex it's two minutes until the press conference, Kara agrees to obey Lex without question. She walks around a corner in the mansion to find Clark standing there and she warns him he's in a restricted area but Clark shocks her by calling her Kara and saying he's her cousin Kal-El. Kara insists she was sent to Earth to kill Clark and she speeds towards him swinging her fist but Clark speeds out of her way and she knocks part of the wall out. She insists she searched the planet and never found him and Clark doesn't have an explanation for how he got there and tells her that Fine is really Brainiac and the real threat. He asks for her help in destroying Brainiac and getting the nuclear codes before it's too late and she agrees. They enter Lex's office and Clark tells Lex that Fine has been using him and all he wants is to destroy humanity. But Lex doesn't care and says he's had the best minds in the country taken to bunkers and after the war he'll emerge to start the planet over again with himself as absolute ruler.
Then he takes out a gun that has kryptonite bullets in it and shoots Clark in the stomach and shoulder and Clark collapses on the floor bleeding badly. Lex explains he had the gun developed for Kara in case she turned on him and then he shoots her in the shoulder also. Brainiac enters the room and has agents take the wounded Kara away and he puts the nuclear briefcase on Lex's desk. As Clark begs Lex not to do it he watches helplessly as Lex enters the codes and uses the special phone in the case to order the nuclear strike. We see the missiles flying out of their silos heading for their various targets as Armageddon begins for our world. Lex leaves for a safe place and Brainiac tells Clark he cannot be stopped in his mission. When Clark mentions Zod, Brainiac says that he's trapped in the Phantom Zone but Lex will be used as a vessel for his mind when he uses Kara's Fortress of Solitude to free Zod from captivity. Then he tells Clark that he cannot change the course of history but strangely enough the words are spoken in Jor-El's voice just as Brainiac fires a last fatal kryptonite bullet at Clark! Clark awakens in the Fortress trapped in a column of energy and Jor-El explains he had to show Clark that he must stop Brainiac from killing him and changing our planet's destiny. Clark had to be shown that this is why he was sent to Earth and he must not turn away from this most important of missions as there will be no second chances this time.
Clark asks to be returned to his life and in a flash he reappears in the barn in front of Chloe who is very happy to see Clark is back. Clark tells Chloe he now knows he must go to Krypton and stop Brainiac from killing him while there's still time. Next we see the giant red sun of Krypton as the blue orb of Clark's birth orbits it. On the surface Brainiac has found the baby Kal-el and he walks to a platform and places the infant on it telling him he must now sleep forever. He raises a huge knife to impale the child but Kara stops him momentarily until he throws her across the lab as the planet breaks apart. Clark then appears telling Brainiac he'll stop him and then Lana will hopefully recover from the comatose state she was put in by the mad living computer from Krypton. But Brainiac grabs Clark lifting him in the air reminding him he's powerless on Krypton and then he throws Clark across the room. He tells Clark both he and Kara will die now but from behind him Kara has grabbed the knife Brainiac dropped. She stabs him through his back and the weapon thrusts straight through Brainiac appearing out of his chest as Kara tells Clark to hurry and put the baby Kal-El in the spaceship. She picks up a pillar and as Brainiac laughs at her she smashes it down on him. Clark picks up his younger self and the infant stops crying at once as he carries him over to the ship and smiling he places him in the rocket which closes up and starts to take off.
Clark and Kara watch as the ship flies away and with the planet breaking up around them Kara tells Clark they must hurry and flee back to Earth through the portal. Then from space we see the spaceship speeding away just in time as first the huge red star and then Krypton explode into pieces and once again Clark's destiny is back on track. Back on Earth Clark calls the hospital where Lana is but he finds that Brainiac's demise has not released her from the comatose state she's been placed in. Kara insists that she destroyed Brainiac but Clark now knows that that won't help and Kara wants to try returning to Krypton to save more people. But Clark says it's too dangerous to tamper with the past and they must now concentrate on the future which Kara says she'll be at Clark's side throughout. Clark enters his barn loft to find Lex Luthor there and he tells Clark he's had the world's finest doctors examine Lana but they couldn't help her. He asks Clark what happened just before she was stricken saying the doctors describe her state as an "alien" one, but Clark says nothing. Lex leaves telling Clark if he wants to say more about the incident to contact him.
Later Lois enters the Daily Planet to find Clark using their database to study websites that specialize in comatose medicine and Lois tells Clark she sorry she hasn't been more supportive of his and Lana's problems and Clark tells her she's a good friend and he understands. Then Lois tells Clark he needs a break and takes him out to go to a bar and drink a beer to get his mind off his problems although Clark insists that's not his style. Back at the Kent farm Kara goes downstairs to get some milk from the fridge but before she can drink she grabs her head in great pain and the bottle falls and smashes on the floor. Kara collapses amidst the broken glass and spilled milk and as she lies there wondering what's wrong with her we wonder too but the scene fades and we realize we'll have to wait to find out.

Our Story:
Lex Luthor has called in one of the most famous experts in antiquities to try and discern the riddle that is the cryptograph he recovered from the bank vault in Zurich. But the man admits that unless he dismantles the piece and is given more time to study it he will not know what it's intricate gears and symbols mean. Lex allows the man to leave with the priceless piece but orders 24 hour surveillance covering him. After everyone leaves Lex is suddenly attacked by the man who once posed as the bank manager in Zurich and is now after Lex again. They struggle furiously and the attacker only gets the advantage over Lex by stabbing him causing Lex to collapse on his den floor. As he lies helpless the man takes his knife and ripping Lex's shirt open he carves symbols into Lex's chest; symbols we recognize as Kryptonian ones! Lex awakens in Smallville Medical Center with his aide telling him the assailant is being sought with so far no success. He points out to Lex what the man did to his chest with his knife and when Lex sees the symbols in his chest he reasons that whoever had him attacked knows of the cryptograph and is seeking to possess it.
Jimmy quietly enters Chloe's apartment but she is waiting for him and wants to know why he stood her up for a date that night. Jimmy explains that he saw Lex being bought into the hospital and managed to get pictures of the bizarre injuries Lex got from the attacker's knife. When Chloe sees the picture of the symbols in Lex's chest she immediately recognizes them as Kryptonian in origin and her concern over them has her contacting Clark and they meet at the hospital. When Clark sees the picture of the symbols he translates them to Chloe as meaning "savior" and "Traveler", and Chloe knows this means Veritas. Veritas was a group comprised of wealthy and studied members of society who made it their personal cause to protect Clark knowing of his journey from the doomed planet Krypton. They were aware, from the late Dr. Virgil Swann who was the leader of the group, that the Traveler would possess powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal man. And whoever found the cryptograph would somehow be given the ability to control the Traveler and his powers, a fate Clark must thwart to keep his powers from being used for evil and selfish purposes. But Chloe states that all the members of Veritas have died and she wonders who could know of the Traveler and the cryptograph's existence?
Chloe knows that Lex has retrieved what was in the bank in Zurich but because Clark isn't yet being controlled in any manner they hope Lex hasn't yet discovered Clark's secrets. They walk into Lex's hospital room only to find it empty and for now they must wonder how much Lex knows. In Metropolis the man who attacked Lex has found the man he gave the cryptograph to and he talks with someone on the phone who tells him to retrieve the cryptograph. He bursts into the man's storefront and shoots two of Lex's security detail and is about to kill the antiquities expert when Lex enters from behind and puts a bullet through the assailant stopping him for good. Chloe and Clark are studying the pictures Jimmy took of Lex and Clark recognizes that one of the symbols also stands for sanctuary and Chloe tells Clark that the patron saint of travelers is St. Christopher and that the only cathedral dedicated to St. Christopher on our continent is in Montreal and she tells Clark that's where she feels he may find whomever is seeking what Lex has found in Zurich. The antiquities expert tells Lex he has found a maker's mark on the gears of the cryptograph and they belong to a famous watchmaker named Brauer who also made as his masterpiece a clock that has gears that match the cryptographs. He says that the clock recently resurfaced after being lost for decades and it was donated to St. Christopher's cathedral by Dr. Virgil Swann. When Lex hears the dead scientists name he now knows his next stop is Montreal, exactly where Clark is already on his way to.
Clark with his great speed has first reached the cathedral and he enters it and approaches the baptismal font that stands in front of the altar. He sees Kryptonian symbols carved in it that say, "Cast your eye beneath the surface", so he uses his strength to lift the top of the font in the air and on its bottom he sees more symbols. He places the font back down and turns to see a man in monk's robes who says he is Edward Teague, the last surviving member of Veritas. And he knows Clark is the Traveler as only he could read the symbols and lift the font in the air. And at that, he says he's waited his entire life for this moment and he kneels before Clark as if he were a god! Teague explains that after Lionel had the other members of Veritas killed in his bid to control the Traveler, he went into hiding waiting for the day Clark would appear. He says that Lex is a "non-believer" unlike himself who feels that Clark will prove to be a savior to humanity. Clark says that whatever Lex has found in Zurich has been reputed to be able to control him and his abilities and Teague says that Dr. Swann had hidden clues about the Traveler to prevent Clark from being used wrongly. He also says that though he doesn't know what it is, one of those clues is somewhere in the church.
Teague says he had Lex attacked and marked with the symbols knowing it would attract Clark to the event and he would then find him. He wonders why Clark hasn't killed Lex before knowing that he is evil and cannot be allowed to control Clark's abilities. He declares that Clark is avoiding the destiny that he and the other members of Veritas lived and died for and he won't let Clark's naiveté stop him from fulfilling that destiny. And to make his point he opens the top of his cane exposing a piece of Kryptonite inside it and holds it towards Clark until he collapses at his feet! Lex is flying on his jet to Montreal and he tells the antiquities expert that his father belonged to the secret society that commissioned Brauer to make the cryptograph and the clock for them. He feels his father was so obsessed over whatever secret the cryptograph leads to that he felt like an orphan his whole life. And his father's fixation has know become his and he won't rest until he discovers whatever his father spent his whole life chasing after. Jimmy meets Chloe and tells her his research with the symbols have turned up the fact that the one on Lex's chest has been found in the Kawatche caves near Smallville and it accompanies a symbol of a man being sacrificed and that worries Chloe. And at that moment Clark is awakening on a tablet just like the one in the pictures Jimmy found and it looks as if Clark is to be sacrificed!
Teague says he will now perform an ancient Kryptonian rite from back when that race was a warrior race. He says that he cannot allow Clark to come under Lex's control and since Clark refuses to kill Lex he will stop Clark before Lex can control him. He opens another font at the table's head which contains liquid Kryptonite which he pours into grooved channels which run all around the tablet Clark is bound too. The deadly liquid keeps Clark helpless while Teague explains that even his father Jor-El knew that Clark could destroy us if his powers were turned to evil. But since he wasn't willing to see Clark killed, he instead sent the device to Earth that would control him to keep him from becoming the threat he could be. Then as Clark writhes in agony, Teague carves a pentagram into his chest and also a symbol inside the pentagram. Clark bleeds badly at this mad ritual and it looks as if he won't survive it to ever become either a savior or a destroyer! Lex has entered a vestibule in the cathedral and spotting a beautiful clock there he knows this is the one that the cryptograph was made for. He walks up to it and seeing an aperture that the cryptograph fits in he puts the device into the clock. Intricate mechanisms activate and fine gears spin and an ancient Scottish folk tune plays as the wheels on the cryptograph and clock turn in synchronicity. An opening appears at the clock's top and it reveals a pentagonal stone with a four diamond shape in it; this is the watchmaker's signature symbol telling Lex that he has found the next puzzle piece in his quest and he removes the stone just as Teague appears behind him.
Teague tells Lex that the Traveler is no longer relevant but Lex says he must know who it is that caused his father to ignore him all these years. Teague tells Lex since the Traveler will die, he now sees that Lex is the prophesied evil adversary of the Traveler and he must die too. The two men rush each other and fight with swords they pick up and we feel we're witnessing a battle between good and evil that's centuries old. Chloe has arrived at the cathedral and she finds Clark dying on the sacrificial table Teague strapped him on. She uses a heavy iron cross to break open the channel holding the deadly green liquid Kryptonite and it drains to the floor and away from Clark. Then she struggles and succeeds in putting the lid back on the font the liquid lies in and Clark immediately revives with his wounds vanishing as his invulnerability is restored. In their fight Lex has gotten the advantage over Teague and he has him down on the ground and is about to stab him fatally when Clark speeds into the room. Faster then the eye can follow he knocks the heavy ornamental weapon from Lex's hands where it flies across the room and shatters the clock that Lex found into a thousand pieces. Then Clark speeds from the room leaving Lex wondering what just happened and when Teague says he didn't do it Lex realizes that the Traveler has been there and stopped Lex from killing. Lex retrieves the stone he found in the clock and leaves a dazed Teague behind him.
As he flies in his jet Lex explains to his aide that the clock played a song called "The birks of St. Kilda" which is a song his father often made him play as a child. They are flying to St. Kilda at that moment and his aide says the only building on the island was a castle that a wealthy American has already moved to America. And Lex is shocked when he sees the picture of the castle and realizes it's his home in Smallville and the wealthy American who moved it there was his father Lionel. He immediately orders his jet turned and headed back to Smallville to find the next piece of this puzzle he must solve. Chloe returns home to find Jimmy has prepared a celebratory dinner as he's published his article about the symbols in the Kawatche caves. He tells Chloe the symbols on Lex's chest stand for the resolution of the battle between the agent of good versus his evil counterpart. The legend says that the conflict can only be resolved with a final combat between the two enemies, but the prophecy doesn't say which side will win making Chloe worried that the final battle between Clark and Lex is at hand with no certain victor. Later Chloe shows Clark what she's learned about the prophecy of the battle between him and Lex but Clark says he knows Lex is willing to kill him but he's never going to kill Lex and become what the prophecy warns he could be. But Chloe warns Clark that that's exactly what he may be forced to do to stop the threat of Lex once and for all.
Lex is having every inch of his mansion examined by technicians in the hope of finding the next clue in his quest and he remembers a line from the song that tells him to look in a certain direction in the castle which will be "over the heart of the house". Lex realizes that the song points to the fireplace and sees the four diamond symbol that's in the stone he retrieved from the clock. He orders everyone out of the room and then takes an andiron and breaks the spot over the fireplace that has the symbols. Inside the mantle he finds a bag which he opens to discover a purple crystalline stone orb with hundreds of facets in its surface. In the top of the orb is a spot which is in the shape of the pentagonal stone he found in the clock and he inserts it into the orb. The orb starts to glow and light projects from it as it rises into the air out of Lex's hand. The light congeals into a three-dimensional holographic image of our planet and the orb traces a path from Smallville to the far distant frozen wastelands of the North Pole. Lex smiles as he realizes his journey of discovery is almost over and the spot the orb shows him is where he's going to find his answers, and we know that spot is none other then Clark's Fortress of Solitude!

Our Story:
Edward Teague, the last surviving member of the secret society called Veritas, is fleeing the country to South America on a chartered jet. But his journey is interrupted by the stewardess who we see is really Kara Kent, Clark's super-powered cousin from Krypton. She tells Teague she knows who he is and she also knows about Veritas and who the Traveler is and the fact that Teague has tried to kill him. When Teague denies everything, she makes her point by picking him up by the neck with one hand and then she demands to know where the device is that can control the Traveler. He still won't cooperate so she then punches a hole straight through the side of the jet's fuselage causing the jet to decompress losing its atmosphere and fragments of the fuselage cause the right jet engine to catch on fire. The co-pilot comes out of the cockpit demanding to know what's going on and Kara's response is to elbow the man 20 feet back towards the front of the plane. She warns Teague this is his last chance and Teague tells Kara that Lex Luthor is the one she should seek out. Kara then tells Teague to enjoy the rest of his flight and then she flies right through the rear of the jet causing it to break up in pieces killing everyone on board!
Lex Luthor is in his office at the Daily Planet when his aide enters telling him that the second of two teams has disappeared 10 miles before being able to reach the spot in the Arctic that Lex discovered last episode. Lex demands further investigation and his aide exits as Jimmy Olsen enters asking Lex why he's been summoned there. Lex tells Jimmy that since he had Chloe taken off the Department of Domestic Security's most wanted list he now demands Jimmy do something for him. Lex tells Jimmy that Lois Lane has been investigating him and he wants Jimmy to feed her false information to prevent her from finding out what he's looking for at the top of the world. Jimmy is reluctant so Lex reminds him of the fact that he can have Chloe thrown into Federal prison and he gives him a packet of information that shows Lex is merely exploring potential sites for oil drilling in the frozen north. Lois enters the Kent farmhouse telling Clark she's bought him a job application for a position in the Daily Planet bullpen. Clark tells Lois that even if he wanted the job he could never bring himself to work for Lex and Lois responds saying since she's started looking into Lex's affairs she found out that Clark and Lex were once good friends.
Clark says that he found out Lex wasn't who he thought he was and tells Lois to be very careful while working for Lex. Chloe comes in asking for a private moment with Clark so Lois leaves and Chloe tells Clark that she's found out that Teague and the pilots were all killed while flying to Buenos Aires. They go to the Isis foundation where Chloe shows how she hacked into the NTSB mainframe and learned of the doomed flight. Chloe plays the Black Box tapes for Clark and he uses his super-hearing to discover it was Kara on the flight and it must have been she who flew straight through the plane's fuselage causing it to crash. Clark refuses to believe Kara would take a life but Chloe is skeptical due to her experiences with other violent Kryptonians. Clark again listens to the tape and he hears that Kara has found Lex as the next person to follow in her quest for the device to control the Traveler. Kara has entered Lex's mansion and using her x-ray vision she has found the purple orb that Lex obtained. She breaks open the hidden safe but the device glows with a strange energy that won't let her touch it. And when she re-closes the safe she turns to see Clark standing in the hallway demanding to know what she's doing.
Clark grabs Kara and super-speeds back to his barn with her in tow and he wants to know why three people are dead due to her actions. Kara insists that if someone obtains the device for controlling him that many more would die as he would become the most dangerous weapon on the planet. She turns to fly away and Clark grabs her insisting she stay but she kicks him straight through the loft steps and some hay bales and flies away leaving only a sonic boom in her wake. Jimmy meets Lois at the Ace of Clubs nightclub in Metropolis and gives her the misleading packet of information Lex supplied him with and he tells Lois he found the materials in the photo lab. Lois is pleased that Jimmy's helping her and she leaves while we see that Jimmy's clearly unhappy from lying to her. Lex enters his mansion den to find Kara waiting and she tells Lex she knows that Veritas was a secret society formed to control a powerful alien that's come to Earth. She says she knows that Dr. Virgil Swann received transmissions telling him where to find the device that would control the Traveler. She then tells Lex she and the Traveler come from the same planet and she convinces him by using her heat-vision to start a blaze in his fireplace.
Lex now knows that Kara did save him from drowning once and he wants to know why she now is revealing her true self to him. She says she knows that Lex is destined to defeat the Traveler and that he has obtained the orb which will control him. She says it's now time for him to use the orb as she cannot as it was designed to be only used by a human being as its purpose in creation was to protect them. Lex tells Kara about the coordinates the orb showed him that are at the North Pole and she says that's the Traveler's fortress and he must take the device there to control him. Kara also says since she returned to Krypton she learned that even though the Traveler himself think he will benefit humanity she now knows that he will destroy it. Lex asks who the Traveler is and Kara says that Lex already knows and his expression tells us he suspects Clark. Chloe enters the Kent farmhouse to find Clark holding a lead box that contains Kryptonite. He tells her of Kara's convictions that Clark will be used by the device as a weapon and her determination to stop him. Chloe agrees to help trap Kara but she insists Clark can't be there as the Kryptonite would be dangerous to him also. Jimmy enters Lex's mansion just after Lex has placed the purple orb into a metal briefcase as he's preparing to fly to the North Pole.
Jimmy tells Lex he gave Lois the false information and he considers their arrangement ended but Lex insists on regular reports of Lois' activities. Jimmy refuses and tells Lex he'll keep quiet about whatever Lex is up to in the arctic but he can't go on spying on a friend. Lex tells Jimmy he respects his integrity and then he leaves for his date with destiny at the Fortress. Chloe has called Kara to her apartment and when she arrives Chloe pulls out the Kryptonite that Clark gave her but it has no effect on her. Chloe tries to run but Kara blocks the door and her form morphs until Chloe sees that it's Brainiac who's been impersonating Clark's cousin. He then changes his fingers into probes which he inserts in Chloe's skull and she falls to the floor but as she does her meteor power manifests in a bright glow causing pain to Brainiac and weakening him badly. Lex is in his jet ready to leave when his aide reminds him of the people who've disappeared trying to reach their destination but Lex insists the orb will protect him and the risk to humanity by hesitating would be too great. Clark arrives at Smallville Medical Center to find a comatose Chloe and when her eyes open with the same glazed over look as what Lana's eyes look like Clark now recognizes that Brainiac has struck down another of his friends.
Brainiac has gone to a nearby power plant to replenish his energy after exposure to Chloe's meteor power has weakened him badly. He is barely able to burn through the fence to get in but finally he does and he grabs a nearby transformer and starts to recharge himself. However, as he does a furious Clark races up to him and punches him through the air and straight through the power plant equipment. Clark grabs up the living computer and asks if Kara is dead but Brainiac just says he's done something far worse to her. He tells Clark since he's been unable to kill him he needed to obtain the device to control him as a matter of self-preservation. When Clark demands that Brainiac release Lana and Chloe from whatever he's done to them Brainiac says the only way that will happen is if Clark kills him and he knows he won't kill. But Clark reminds him that he's really just a machine and he then rips high voltage lines from around him and rams them into Brainiac's body. Energy courses through the renegade living computer and he says that even if Clark destroys him that Clark's about to be destroyed too. And Clark tells him he'll never hurt anybody ever again and grabs another high power cable and shoves it into Brainiac while all his might. Energy cascades in and from the evil computer from Krypton as he screams from the excess of power Clark has given him. And with a final howl from the machine that walks like a man he explodes into a million particles which fall all around Clark in a shower of glowing pieces. As Clark stands there we sees a Phantom Zone panel emerge in space and inside it is Clark's cousin Kara and that's what Brainiac meant about a fate worse then death for her as she's now a helpless phantom in a near dead zone of existence.
Clark races to the sanitarium where Lana's been since Brainiac attacked her and as he arrives Chloe calls him telling him she's recovered from her ordeal. He enters Lana's room but finds it empty and a nurse informs him that Lana had a complete recovery but she then left but not before leaving him a message on a DVD. He goes home and plays the DVD in which Lana tells him they have been fooling themselves into believing they had a life together ahead of them. She knows that she needs him but she also knows the world needs him more and he must accept his destiny. She asks that Clark not come after her and then with tears in her eyes she tells him how she loves him more then he will ever know and the recording ends and Clark breaks down in tears as Lois enters the house. Lois sees the heartbreak which Clark cannot hide and she runs to him embracing him and telling him how sorry she is for him. Jimmy brings Chloe into the Talon coffee shop to head upstairs to her apartment and he says that after what's happened he realizes how much she means to him and wants them to always be together. He drops to one knee and takes out a bubble gum machine ring and says he'll get her a real one tomorrow but the point is he wants her to marry him. Chloe smiles but before she can answer Department of Domestic Security agents barge in and tackle Jimmy as another handcuffs Chloe telling her she's under arrest and as she's dragged away Chloe yells to Jimmy to call Clark.
Jimmy rushes into Clark's barn loft telling him that Lex must have put Chloe back under the DDS's eyes after he reneged on Lex's demands to spy for him. Clark asks where Lex is now and Jimmy says all he knows is that Lex is heading for the North Pole and at that Clark knows exactly where he's headed. Lex has entered the Fortress of Solitude and he marvels at its alien design and the energies coursing through its crystalline pillars. He walks until he sees the control console which now glows with the same purple hued energy that the orb he carries beams with and he approaches it. And as he holds the orb up the stone he found that he inserted in it sinks in flush with the device's surface and the console glows ever brighter. It is at that moment that Clark speeds up behind Lex and he turns to see his onetime friend standing with him in this alien environment. Clark starts to tell Lex he's misreading his intentions but Lex insists that Clark's mild-mannered guise hides a strange visitor from another planet who's come to plan our demise. They circle each other warily as the orb glows brighter and brighter and Lex says that Clark never trusted him and that he never considered what they could have accomplished together. Lex says he would have helped Clark become a hero but now he must act instead to protect the human race.
Clark tells Lex it's his life and Lex has no right to interfere but Lex feels that all the pain and sacrifice in his life has lead him to this greater destiny. Clark tells Lex that what he does next is up to him but Lex insists that since Clark is the Traveler he must act to protect humanity. He places the orb on the console and energy beams surge from it enveloping the entire Fortress. Clark collapses and the structure begins to tremble and quake and then pillars start to crumble and fall and we see the entire place is being destroyed. Lex walks over to Clark and cradles his head in his arms telling him he loved Clark like a brother but it has to end this way. With a final "I'm sorry" Lex looks up as the Fortress cracks into a million icy shards and collapses down on top of both Lex and Clark and they vanish from sight. Then we see the frozen landscape has returned to its usual barren appearance and as the cold winds howl no sign that the Fortress ever even existed is left.
