Our Story:
It has been three months since Clark disappeared in the Kawatche caves. A young woman is watching a recording Chloe made before her death, asking Clark to solve the crime of her murder. Next we see the woman driving towards Smallville when a lightning stike forces her car off the road. Then an energy bubble materializes in front of her vehicle when three lightning bolts hit the ground all at once. She emerges to see a naked Clark standing there and he tells her he's allright, but he has amnesia. When he asks her who she is, she tells him her name is Lois Lane!
At an archealogical dig on the other side of the world, Lex Luthor is handed a statue that's just been unearthed that has Kryptonian symbols on it. Lois has brought Clark to the hospital to be examined. Next we see Lana in Paris meeting her new boyfriend Jason for lunch. In the same hospital where Clark and Lois are, Ma visits Pa Kent who is comatose from his latest heart attack. Although his chances of recovery are slim, she refuses to have him disconnected from the machines keeping him alive. When Lois tries to stop Clark from leaving the hospital, he picks her up as though she were weightless and moves her out of his way. Then Ma Kent sees Clark in the hallway and rushes him home. But not before Lois discovers the man she found naked was none other then the person she's looking for, Clark Kent!
As he's flying home with the statue, we see that Lex must have blood purification performed every 72 hours or he will die. Ma Kent takes Clark to his barn loft "Fortress of Solitude" to try and jog his memory. But Ma Kent is horrified to discover that Clark considers himself Kal-El of Krypton, and that all those in his past life are dead to him. Then he walks outside the barn and crouching down he gathers himself, and with a mighty leap he rockets into the air flying like a missile through the skies!
In France, Jason shows Lana a crypt in a church of a fabled warrior princess and after he leaves, Lana starts to make a tracing of the portrait of the princess carved on the tomb's lid. Suddenly she touches a symbol in the portrait, and a cascade of errie energy pours from the symbol into Lana. Lois visits Ma Kent and tells her she's Chloe's cousin and she needs Clark to help solve her murder. Ma Kent warns Lois that messing with Lionel Luthor could prove fatal and she warns her not to investigate him in connection with Chloe's death. Meanwhile, Clark streaks through the air on an intercept course with Lex's jet as a crystal Lex has found inside the statue is calling Clark to it. He flies up to the jet and rips it rear hatch off like tissue paper, and enters the jet which is now experiencing severe decompression and the pilot is fighting to keep the aircraft aloft!
The crystal flies out of Lex's hand and straight through the cabin door into Clark's hand and he turns and flies away from the jet. Through the hole the crystal made in the cabin door Lex thinks he might have just seen someone do the impossible, then disappear! Dr. Swann has sent a Bridgette Crosby to try and help Ma Kent with Clark's problems but Ma is resistant to her. Crosby explains to Ma Kent that the Kryptonian symbol burnt into her field when Clark disppeared translates into the english word, "Crusade". She then gives Ma Kent a piece of what she calls "Black Kryptonite", and tells her she must use it against Clark if he is to be saved.
Lex visits his father who is jailed for murder and tells him of the loss of the crystal. He says it's one of three alien artifacts that when joined will unlock that society's knowledge. He then tells his father he shouldn't have tried to poison him and failed in the attempt, as now he has made an implacable enemy out of his own son. Clark takes the Kryptonian crystal to the Kawatche caves and opens a room with it and inside the roon he finds a console into which he places the crystal. Jason has come looking for Lana who didn't show up for their last date. She wakes on her bed in her apartment at his knocking but doesn't remember anything that happened to her. But hanging on her easel is the completed tracing of the warrior princess's portrait that is carved into the tomb's lid!
Clark emerges from the room in the caves to meet his Mother who uses the Black Kryptonite on him. She sees Clark and his Kryptonian half struggling in battle and she throws the kryptonite to Clark who uses it to make his opponent vanish in a blaze of energy. When Ma and Clark awaken, Clark tells her he's now himself again. What they don't yet know is that at the instant Clark returned, back at the hospital Pa Kent bolted up awake from his coma completely healed. At last the Kent family is reunited, and Clark tells Ma and Pa that he doesn't remember how to fly now that he's Clark again and not Kal-El.
When Lana takes a shower, she sees that the symbol from the warrior princess' tomb is now somehow also on the small of her back. Lois visits Lionel Luthor and suggests that either he's responsible for Chloe's death or someone might be setting him up for the murder. Lois later visits Chloe's grave and meets Clark there. Clark uses his x-ray vision to find that Chloe's body is not in her grave and he asks Lois to stay with the Kents while she's in town and then he tells Lois that Chloe is still alive and they both vow to find Chloe or her killers.

General Sam Lane: Michael Ironside
Lois Lane: Erica Durance

Our Story:
Lois is skeptical about Chloe being found alive so she and Clark go to the exploded ruins of the "safehouse" where Chloe died. However once they arrive, they're assaulted by trained troops in black helicopters, one of which Clark damages. And after Clark and Lois flee the scene, the commanding officer who led the assault steps off the helicopter and we learn that he is none other then Lois' father, General Sam Lane! Lois is staying with the Kents and the next day she embarrasses Clark by walking into the bathroom while he's showering. Then Ma Kent catches the two of them and now he's really embarrassed! Next it's Pa Kent's turn to be upset when Lois blurts out that one of the helicopters "crashed", and he correctly figures it was Clark's doing.
Lex visits his father Lionel who is in jail and on trail for Chloe's murder, and he tells Lex that he'll go free now that Chloe can't testify against him. Lionel reminds Lex he'll have to look over his shoulder for his father's revenge to someday come for his life in payment for his betrayal of his father to the authorities. Lana has discovered that the emblem that has appeared on her back is a Kryptonian symbol that's also been found in the Kawatche caves. She visits Lex and he agrees to rent her the apartment over the Talon coffeeshop she and Lex used to co-own. Lois digs up Chloe's coffin and finding it empty, she turns around only to have a dark-haired youth with arms like blades attacking her. Lana sprays the man with Mace driving him away and Lois tells Lana she's Chloe's cousin and the two introduce themselves to each other warily.
Lana brings Lois back to the Kent farm and they all agree that they feel awkward around each other after all that's happened. After Lana leaves, Lois and Clark bicker over Clark's feelings for Lana. But suddenly the black-suited troops are back and this time Sam Lane is determined to catch his daughter. He meets up with the two in the barn loft and Clark is shocked, to say the least, at the news that this man is Lois' father. And he's even more surprised when Ma and Pa ask the Lanes to dinner with them! But General Lane rushes he and Lois away and Lois tells Clark to look into Luthorcorp as her father taking her away is proof that they're onto something concerning Chloe's fate. Lex is studying computer simulations of the accident where "someone", we know it was Clark, ripped his jet's door off at 20,000 feet and stole the Kryptonian crystal from Lex in mid-air.
Clark asks Lex for his help in finding Chloe but Lex puts him off and Clark notices one of General Lane's cigar stubs in a nearby ashtray and he now knows that the General is working with Lex on whatever's happened to Chloe. Clark and Lois meets in General Lane's office and they find out that General Lane has been seeing a "Nellie Blye" regularly and they realize that Nellie Blye is a childhood heroine of Chloe's. Clark rushes to the address they find but all he discovers are dead F.B.I. agents and Lex Luthor! Then the young man named Trent, the man with the bladed arms, visits Lionel Luthor and says he failed to kill Chloe, and that she escaped. Lionel reminds Trent that he is the only help for Trent to ever be normal again. But he must kill Chloe for Lionel Luthor to help him.
Lex explains that Lionel Luthor had a bomb put into the safehouse so he had Chloe and her father escape through hidden tunnels under the house. Chloe is at the foundry and she manages to free herself but Trent arrives to kill her. He is just about to strangle her when Lois and Clark arrive and she and Clark distract Trent enough for Clark to blast Trent with his heat-vision and Trent explodes in a burst of energy! Then Lois and Chloe happily reunite with Clark reminding Lois he did help just a little. With Chloe testifying against him, Lionel Luthor is found guilty and Lex gains complete control of Luthorcorp. Clark has become embittered and now thinks that Lex is his mortal enemy that the Kawatche cave writings predicted would battle Clark someday. Lana and Clark meet in the Kawatche caves and Lana reminds Clark that Lois may be his destiny despite his harsh feelings for her. Lex visits his father as he's released into the prison's population, and Lionel reminds his son he has only made his father a stronger enemy by failing to kill him.
Jason visits Lana and insists they try and make an attempt at going further with their feeling about each other. Lana refuses Jason but he tells her he's not leaving and he's not giving up on them as a couple.

Our Story:
It's back in freshman year of high school for Clark and he's at a football rally. Suddenly the football players start harassing the costumed mascot insisting that the mascot remove her mask to reveal herself. They surround and torment her until one of them rips her mask off revealing a young girl afflicted with terrible facial acne and they all join in deriding her and calling her "Scabby Abby", traumatizing her badly. The time fades to now and Abby Fine lies on an operating table with her mother, Dr. Fine, assuring her that her senior year will be better now that she's agreed to let her mother give her a surgical makeover. As a shell comes over her body, thousands of needles inject green liquid into Abby's body as the operation begins!
Lois and Clark both find out from Lois' father that she has to attend Smallville High for her senior year to get enough credits for her to move onto college. Chloe talks her cousin Lois into joining the staff of the school paper, The Torch. Abby has returned to school with a beautiful new complexion and body and the same people who tormented her years ago suddenly like Abby a lot more. Lana's boyfriend she met while in Paris, Jason Teague, has become the new assistant Smallville High football coach and Clark visits Coach Teague to talk about joining the football team and he runs into Lana visiting Jason.
Lex Luthor offers Ma Kent a job running the Talon coffeshop he and Lana used to co-run together and Ma Kent accepts as the Kents need the money badly. Clark is working out great on the football team, and the now beautiful Abby and the player who originally nicknamed her "Scabby Abby" decide to shower together in the Boy's Locker Room! When Abby changes her mind in mid-shower, the player suddenly recoils in shock as his reflection in the bathroom mirror shows his skin disintegrating from his face although Abby sees nothing wrong with him. He flees from the building screaming and as he's crossing the road he runs in front of Lois' car and she can't stop before she hits him! Clark and Lois investigate the accident and Clark finds Abby's necklace where she dropped it in the shower.
Pa Kent is upset with Clark for joining the team and feels he's cheating himself of learning what it really means to be a human being with limitations. Lana has gone to see Dr. Fine to have the strange symbol she discovered on her back in Paris to have it removed. Dr. Fine tells Abby that Lana saw her with Bret before the accident and she intends to make sure that Lana doesn't spoil Dr. Fine's plans for Abby's happiness. Jason takes Lana to the school's forgotten drama room that's filled with old props and costumes to give her a surprise. He blindfolds Lana and then leaves the room. But while he does, Abby comes in and kisses Lana and when Lana takes off her blindfold, she panics when she sees her face rotting away in a nearby mirror. Abby flees the room and Lana turns and runs into and topples over a huge mirror which comes crashing down over her in a million shattered pieces!
Jason and Lex Luthor meet at last in Lana's hospital room. Later, Clark and Chloe visit her and they see that Lana is suffering from the same symptoms as Bret which shows higher levels of a brain chemical that extreme makeover clinics use. Meanwhile Lois investigates the clinic where Dr. Fine works and she gets caught by Dr. Fine while she's taping their conversation. The Doctor injects Lois with a drug that knocks her out, and Lois awakens on Dr. Fine's operating table and the Doctor starts the procedure on her without the special chemical that will stop her from going crazy like Lana and Bret did. The cover lowers and Clark smashes into the room but the green liquid must be Kryptonite as Clark collapses just after stopping the cover from closing. The Doctor rushes forward but Lois kicks her into a nearby rack knocking her out while Lois frees herself and helps Clark from the room.
Clark tells Pa Kent he's decided to stay on the football team and his father agrees that Clark is old enough to make his own decisions now and the two actually throw the old pigskin (football) around in the farmyard to seal the deal. Jason goes to see the now recovered Lana and he proclaims his love for her. Abby is allowed to return to school as she was manipulated by her Mother who is jailed in a psychiatric ward for her crimes. Later at a pep rally Chloe sees the looks passing between Clark and Lois and she is saddened at the realization that she has once again lost Clark. And the part that hurts the most is that she's losing him to her own cousin, Lois Lane.

"Devoted"

Written By: Luke Schelhaas
Directed By: David Carlson
Produced By: Bob Hargrove
Aired in the U.S.A.: 10.13.04

Roles & Actors this episode:
Clark Kent: Tom Welling
Jonathan Kent: John Schneider
Martha Kent: Annette O'Toole
Lois Lane: Erica Durance
Lana Lang: Kristen Kreuk
Lex Luthor: Michael Rosenbaum
Mara: Monica Delain
Chloe Sullivan: Allison Mack
Jason Teague: Jensen Ackles
Our Story:
Lois has made a new enemy in Smallville High named Mandy, and it's all because Lois is a vocal critic of sports and the blind worship given all too often to sports figures like the local football team members. Two cheerleaders named Mandy and Rhonda while in their chemistry class have come up with a Kryptonite based liquid that looks like a standard sports cooler drink and their feeding it to team members to hype their enthusiasm. But Chloe accidentally drinks some of the liquid and visits Clark and comes on to him in his barn loft while wearing nothing but his football jersey and telling him she's completely devoted to his happiness and willing to do anything for him. Clark asks Ma for advice on handling Chloe and Ma tells Clark as painful as it may prove to be for Chloe, Clark must be honest with her about his feelings for her. Clark then tells Pa he's been named starting quarterback for the team and that his fellow team members harbor hard feelings about it. Pa tells Clark he'll have to earn their respect the old-fashioned way, with hard work and dedication to the team and the sport.
At school, assistant coach Jason Teague who's also Lana's new boyfriend, wants to heat up their relationship and Lana advises caution so as not to jeopardize his new job at the school. Chloe joins the cheerleader squad to avidly support Clark and she's still acting strangely overenthusiastic due to the drink's effects. Clark takes a drink from the sideline water cooler and he doesn't notice the liquid is green. But after drinking it he immediately becomes ill from the Kryptonite based liquid. Despite his illness, Coach Teague tells Clark to get in there and play if he ever wants to really be the team's leader. Next we see the Coach taking a swig of the drink so its effects are spreading rapidly, as after practice he visits a still weakened Clark and beats him badly warning Clark to stay away from his girl, although he never mentions Lana by name. Only Lex Luthor arriving and driving Coach Teague away stops the Coach from harming Clark further.
Lex gives Clark all his files he gathered about him and tells him he offers them as proof that he wants and needs Clark's friendship badly. Lois has looked into the drink and finds it stimulates a hormone which incites undying devotion from whoever drinks it. To steal the antidote from the girls, Lois suggests she and Clark attend the cheerleader pool party that night. While Clark distracts Mandy with some kissing, Lois steals her purse but before she can get away with the drink's formula, Chloe attacks Lois in a jealous rage over Lois supposedly stealing Clark from her. When Lois kicks Chloe into a heated panel, her hands are slightly burnt but the heat manages to bring Chloe out from the drug's influence with no memory of her actions. So now the three can formulate a plan to undo the drug's hold on it's victims.
When Mandy returns with team members to beat the three, Clark uses his heat vision to break a steam pipe and their attackers are bathed in the steam's heat and revive from the drug back to normalcy. Clark visits Lex and Lex shows Clark he's had the Porsche he crashed when he first met Clark compacted into a metal cube and he tells Clark it's a symbol for the fact he almost lost Clark's friendship with his obsession of finding out the hidden truths about Clark. Then Clark asks Lex for some help with a problem Lois is having getting into Metropolis University. The next day, the drink has been removed and all eventually recover from its effects. Clark throws a last second winning touchdown to win the big game and is finally accepted and respected by his fellow players, besides being the hero of the day for the fans and winning his father's respect.
Then Lois tells Clark that Lex called and got her accepted into Metropolis U. and she's grateful but now she must leave but she promises to visit from time to time. Then Chloe asks Clark if he feels as strongly for her as she does for him and Clark honestly tells her no, but he does value her friendship and wants to keep it for as long as possible. Clark is left standing on the field having just lost any chances with either of these two women he cares for. So despite the victories that day, he realizes that like all victories, they come with a high price of personal sacrifice.

A young man tries fencing some goods with a Metropolis criminal and once the deal is done he vanishes into thin air! Clark and Pa Kent are going to a football game together in the city, but when Clark steps aside for a moment a truck races out of control right for him! Suddenly the young man we saw fencing the stolen goods earlier comes streaking out of the crowd and before Clark can get to Pa Kent the young man reaches him and pushes them both to safety. When Clark helps Pa to his feet they discover the young speedster not only saved Pa's life, he stole his wallet! Pa Kent wants to spend a romantic evening with Ma, but she can't as she's got to work late at the Talon coffeeshop she's running for Lex Luthor.
Clark decides to track the fast young man by watching usage reports of Pa Kent's stolen credit card to find where he was last. When Jason notices Lana's tattoo on her back, she gets defensive and they argue about it. Lex has purchased an ancient manuscript that has Kryptonian symbols on it. Clark corners the young man named Bart Allen and when he tries to stop him they race through Metropolis too fast to be seen. But when they get to a lake, Bart loses Clark by running so fast he literally travels over top of the water leaving Clark no choice but to return home. But when Clark gets home, he finds Bart in the kitchen with Pa Kent enjoying a sandwich and a glass of milk!
Bart tells Clark that he was involved in an accident and a blinding light enveloped him and afterwards he found he was the fastest man alive! But his parents feared his new powers and rejected him and now Bart lives on the streets on his own stealing whatever he needs or wants using his incredible speed, but he has no place to call home or anyone he can call a friend. Bart finds Clark's hidden piece of Kryptonite but when he sees it hurting Clark, Bart puts it back in its lead box. They race off to party in Miami for a couple of hours and then they race back to the Talon coffeshop in Smallville. Chloe meets Bart in the coffeeshop and Bart impresses Chloe with his powers and attitude.
Lex shows Clark his manuscript page and Clark uses his x-ray vision on it and briefly sees under the page that there is a hidden map of some kind. Bart follows Clark to Lex's mansion and he has a great time and decides he wants to live large just like Lex does. Clark tells Pa that he read the message on the page and that it points the way to some object of power that Jor-El, his Kryptonian father, wanted him to find. He tells Pa that that he is going to sneak back into Lex's place to get a more exacting look at the map so he will know where to find the object.
Bart steals an MP3 player and Clark tells him to stop stealing from others and to start using his powers to help people, not hurt them. Bart doesn't see any harm in what he does and races away. Clark sneaks back into Lex's mansion and gets a long enough look at the map this time to remember details. Suddenly the manuscript page vanishes and alarms blare and Lex comes into the room to find the manuscript page gone and Clark Kent standing there. Clark tells Lex he was simply visiting and he doesn't know what happened to the page and Lex believes Clark. Lex tells Clark that he'll contact the high-end fences for stolen goods in Metropolis to track the thief down.
Lana finds Ma Kent working late again at the Talon and she confesses she fears that she and Pa Kent will grow apart, and she's using work to purposely avoid him at the same time. Lana tells Ma not to forget that she and Pa Kent will lose each other if she keeps staying away from Pa on purpose. Bart takes the manuscript page to his fence and once there he's knocked out and Lex Luthor is called to the scene by the fence. Lex arrives and tells the fence to let Bart go but the fence refuses and turns on Lex too. Lex fights off the fence and his crony until finally falling from a blow from behind. Clark races into the room and as Bart awakens, he sees Clark know the fence straight out of the building through a second-story window! Bart then takes out the piece of Kryptonite he found earlier and uses it to incapacitate Clark so he can steal the manuscript page and fence it elsewhere. But when Clark tells him he feels Bart really has the heart of a hero and he will die if Bart doesn't close the box, Bart closes the box and tells Clark he sure doesn't feel like a hero and he races away in a flash.
Lana tells Jason how the tattoo mysteriously appeared on her back while they were in Paris and the two go to the Kawatche caves to compare the symbol on Lana's back to the symbols written all over the cave walls, and they find an exact match for the symbol now on Lana's back! Pa Kent is surprised when Ma Kent comes home early and tells him they're going to have a romantic evening together that night and as the two embrace, we see they are back on their path to happiness together. Clark visits Lex who has had the manuscript page moved into Lexcorp's vaults for safety and Lex tells Clark he had the page examined thoroughly but nothing was found. But after Clark leaves we see Lex looking at a reproduction of the map that was hidden under the page!
Bart visits Clark one last time and Clark tries to convince Bart to stay with him for a while more, but Bart tells him if he can catch him he'll think about it. The two race over the land at blinding speed with Bart finally pulling away leaving Clark in the dust with a smile on his face of admiration for the fastest man alive, Bart Allen the Flash!

Clark is practicing football on the farm when he suddenly hears a high-pitched whine and he tells Pa he has to leave and streaks off at super-speed. Lionel Luthor, Lex's father, is currently in prison for murder attempts on Chloe's life and Lex is visiting him. Lionel has something concealed in his hand and convinces Lex to shake hands with him. But before their hands can meet, the object Lionel is holding turns out to be what's calling to Clark and he streaks into the room and knocks Lex aside. Then Lionel grabs Clark's hand instead and their minds are somehow switched into each other's body. As Clark is dragged away in Lionel's body, Lionel walks out freely in Clark's body!
When Clark returns home, Pa asks him to lift up the tractor he's working on and Lionel does so and he discovers Clark's fantastic strength. Clark finds out from an inmate working for Lionel that the artifact he holding in his cell is Kryptonian and Lionel meant to use it on Lex. The inmate also tells him that very soon, Lionel's body will die and take Clark's mind with it! And Lionel finds out he can't access his fortune while in Clark's body as it's his original voice which activates all his banking transactions. While talking to Ma Kent in the barn, Lionel gets excited and accidentally sets a haypile on fire. And when Ma tells him to put it out with his bare hands, he now knows he also has heat-vision and is invulnerable to harm. And Clark is beaten and threatened to pay money to the oversized inmates he's trapped in prison with and is given 24 hours to come up with the cash!
Lionel finds out that Lex has cut off his computer access and then Chloe walks into the room and Lionel comes on to her. Lana tells Jason that the tattoo that mysteriously appeared on her back is the symbol of an ancient ancestor of hers that was burned for being a witch. But when Jason and Lana kiss, Lionel as Clark bursts into the room catching them in the act. Lionel visits Clark in prison and tells Clark he knows all about his powers. Lionel tries to get Clark to use his original body's voice to record his oral banking passwords, and threatens to kill Lex if Clark doesn't comply. Clark gives in but after using the passwords Lionel finds that Lex has already taken all his funds. Lana tries to explain her relationship with Jason not knowing its Lionel Luthor she's actually speaking to. Lana asks Lionel not to reveal her affair with Jason to anyone. Then Lionel forces Lana to kiss and him and laughs as she slaps him and walks out.
Ma Kent visits Lionel in prison at his request and he convinces her who he really is. He tells her about what happened and she now knows that Lionel will be very dangerous with Clark's abilities. Lionel visits Lex and is about to kill him when Ma Kent shows up with a piece of Kryptonite and stops him but he manages to get away. She calls Pa and tries to warn him that's its Lionel using Clark's powers for evil now but Lionel bursts in and demands he explain how the kryptonite can hurt him. But just then the inmate Edgar calls Lionel to tell him that the transference could reverse itself at any time. But if Lionel kills his own body, that may stop the reversal of their minds.
At that moment Clark is fighting a huge inmate for his life, but he actually manages to beat the man. But then the fight turns into a full scale prison riot and all hell beaks loose. In the middle of the riot Lionel confronts Clark and lifts him in the air like a toy doll. But Clark drops the Kryptonian stone into his hand and grabs Lionel's hand causing their minds to switch back again, and Clark simply super-speeds out of the prison unseen. Clark tells Ma and Pa that there are three artifacts which will activate the mechanisms Jor-El put in the Kawatche caves. And in prison, Lionel finds out his liver is completely healed and he's going to live after all, and he also is a changed man mentally due to Clark's influence while he was in Lionel's body.
Clark is getting all the blame for what Lionel did to his life while he was abusing his powers. Chloe and Lana read Clark the riot act and Lana inadvertently admits to Clark about her affair with Jason. Clark visits Lex who tells him he knew of Lionel's deception from his actions in Clark's body. Lex is suspicious of Clark's body's great strength and Clark asks Lex to help get Edgar the inmate out of prison and Lex agrees to try to do it and Edgar is freed for the crime he was wrongly convicted of. And when he is released, he's picked up by Bridgette Crosby and he immediately hands her the Kryptonian stone and she smiles at it and Edgar.

But the victory comes at a price as the lineman has been seriously injured by his collision with Clark!
Clark visits the hospital and Coach Teague tells him the lineman's collarbone is broken and Jason Teague tells Clark the head coach suspects he's using steroids to enhance his performance which Clark adamantly denies. It turns out the eastern bookie is a Mikail Mxyzptlk that has emigrated through a student exchange program Lex's father Lionel set in motion. Lex is suspicious why Lionel bought Mxyzptlk to the states as his grades are average at best and the young man is enigmatic with Lex raising his caution even further. Mxyzptlk sees Chloe at school to pay off her bet and finds out he's the subject for her latest article. Before he leaves he commands her to kiss him and she does so despite not wanting to. Then he invites her to a football game that night where she can make even bigger money and they go to the game.
Pa is upset that Clark might use his powers to win and Clark tells him he will control himself and something strange made him trip on the field and Clark insists he's going to play despite Pa's wishes. But Clark is still apprehensive as everyone's pressuring him to win the big game for them. Chloe made a bundle at the game and admits to Mxyzptlk she had a great time too. Then he tells her she's going to drop the article on him whether she wants to or not. Clark purposely exposes himself to Kryptonite to weaken himself in an attempt to even the odds against his fellow players but Ma convinces him to simply accept his role and play within his human self. Chloe and Clark compare notes and realize that Mxyzptlk was controlling them and they now know they must stop him before someone else gets hurt.
They investigate his family name in reverse and find his family has always had this ability to control people and the only way they were ever stopped was by a plague of locusts. Clark tells Lex of Mxyzptlk's bookie activities and Lex tells him he'll look into it. Jason tells Lana he covered for Clark to his head coach and she tells Jason she with him now and to stop worrying about Clark. Mxyzptlk is about to be deported for his bookie work and he and Lex make a bet that he can stay here if the Crows lose the big game. Mxyzptlk confronts Clark and makes him choke and warns him to lose the game tomorrow or he'll kill anyone he wants. Chloe and Clark discover that Mxyzptlk emits a specific frequency wave that carries his commands and they figure out they must jam his signal to defeat him. Clark suits up and enters the game and Chloe takes over a broadcasting amplifier under the stands and finds the frequency that jams Mxyzptlk's power. Clark reassures Pa he'll do the right thing on the field and Pa Kent has faith in his son that he will do just that.
The game starts and despite his attempts, Mxyzptlk can't use his power due to Chloe jamming his signals and he finds Chloe and tries to kill her but Clark super-speeds off the field and stops him and returns to the game. The Crows win the big championship and everyone is rightly proud of Clark and the team. Lex decides to keep Mxyzptlk in the country and make use of his unique power which now seems to have disappeared but Lex assures him his scientists will someday restore his abilities. They enter a secret elevator and Lex shows Mikail he employs others like him but we don't get to see whoever they're looking at. Clark has won a scholarship to Metropolis University and Lana informs him that someone told the school that Jason was having an affair with her and he's been fired. Clark suspects Lex and tells him so, and Lex doesn't even bother to deny it.

Our Story:
Our story opens in France in 1604 and 3 women found guilty of witchcraft are taken to a wooden pyre to be burned alive for their sins. But the lead witch promises her two fellow witches they will return in the centuries to come. And the lead witch, who looks exactly like Lana, is offered reprieve if three stones of powers are turned over to the Magistrate but she refuses so all three women are executed. But as she burns she warns the crowd that someday her ancestor will awaken her spirit. Now it's the present day and Lana has bought the book of magic of her witch ancestor from an on-line auction site and she shows it to Jason. But as she handles it energy waves pour from the book and envelop Lana. And when she gets up off the floor we see in her eyes the same energy and realize her ancient witch ancestor walks the earth once more!
Lois drops in on Clark at the farm and informs him that even though his parents are away and he's being interviewed by the Princeton University representative for college entry that week, Lois has arranged that Chloe's 18th birthday party is going to be held in his barn despite Clark's misgivings about the whole idea of his hosting the bash. Then Lois and Chloe drop in to visit Lois who is already preparing magic potions for her evil aims, and the two notice Lana's strange attitude and the weird potions she's working on. Lana needs a hair from two different virgins so she uses one of her own and then visits Clark for the other but when she tries to cut his hair the scissors break so Clark pulls a hair from his head and gives to Lana.
Lex is playing a sonata on the piano when Lana drops in on him and notices that Lex has the manuscript page with the map that shows the way to one of the three stones of power which are actually Kryptonian artifacts left for Clark to find. She puts a spell on Lex which forces him to sit and play the piano forever and then leaves Lex alone with the piano. She completes her magic potion and call Lois and Chloe to meet her where she uses the potion to have her two dead witch companions reincarnated in Lois and Chloe's bodies as she has already done to Lana. She explains the book that she found is the source of the spell and all her magic power, and now they must seek out the three stones of power. The party has started at Clark's barn and Jason won't talk to Clark as he's sure that it was Clark who informed the school of his affair with Lana which got him fired from his coaching position. Then the three reincarnated witches arrive and kick the party into a very high gear with their magics.
Lana rejects Jason while in her witch persona and drives him away and Lois comes onto Clark very heavily. The party goes completely wild with everyone, including Clark, doing things they'd normally never do. The Princeton University representative arrives to see Clark dancing wildly in his underwear. The next day Clark goes to Lex to ask for help getting into Princeton and finds Lex caught in the spell with bloodied hands as he cannot stop playing the piano due to Lana's spell. He forces Lex to stop and Lex tells Clark that Lana did this to him. Jason is caught by Lana looking at her spell book and she tells him who she really is. Jason figures out that the book is her weakness and she starts to use her powers to kill him but Clark arrives and stops her. She leaves but not before leaving a flaming message in the wall to meet her at his barn at midnight. The three witches meet Clark and use their powers to pummel him as he's vulnerable to magic. They battle but eventually Lana uses her powers against Clark to drain him of his abilities leaving him helpless before the magical trio!
Lana tells Clark she wants the three stones of power for her own evil ends. Lana then tries to seduce Clark using her body as bait but Clark refuses although Lana finds out that the Kawatche caves is where one of the stones is along with the mechanism to activate them. The witches leave and Jason arrives and frees Clark and he tells them who Lana is and that the book is Lana's weakness. The witches arrive at the caves and manage to open the door to the Kryptonian control room and the three women enter the room. Lana picks up the stone and starts to activate the control panel when Clark arrives and when Lana starts to use the stone it senses it isn't Clark using the stone and an energy feedback occurs that returns Clark's powers to him. He uses his heat-vision to destroy the spell book and the three are returned to their normal states. None of them remember what's occurred and Clark simply tells them that lately they haven't been themselves. Lex goes to see Lana and he admits that it was he, not Clark, who had Jason fired as he felt he was protecting her from Jason. Lana tells Lex to stay out of her affairs and storms out of the room.
Clark visits Lana and thanks Clark for helping her and she tells Clark she now knows it was Lex's fault that Jason was fired. Clark admits he figured he shouldn't interfere with Lana choices in her life. Lana asks Clark if he knows what the symbol tattooed on her back means but Clark denies any knowledge of the strange symbol. Lex visits the Kawatche caves and discovers that the symbol on Lana's back is also one of the Kryptonian symbols in the caves, and he draws ever closer to the truths about Clark's secrets.

But when the maid lets herself in the next morning to clean the room, she screams in horror and runs from the room. Lex awakens to see the maid fleeing the room screaming, and he turns to see the lovely brunette is tied down to the bed next to him dead, and both she and Lex are covered in her blood!
Lex's attorney takes him home the next day and Lex mentions the dead girl's pink MP3 player wasn't found in the room and his attorney hopes that's significant as it looks bad for Lex. Then Clark drops by to offer his support and Lex tells Clark he never even knew the girl's name and he certainly didn't kill her, but he believes it's his father trying to frame him from prison. Lana's home in bed and dreaming that she is her ancient ancestor being burned alive at the stake for witchcraft when a beautiful women appears in the crowd and with her eyes glowing red she casts a spell in Latin at the moment the flames consume Lana and she awakens from the dream screaming in fear.
Clark visits Lionel Luthor in prison and not only does Lionel deny framing Lex, he asks Clark to try and find the dead girl's car at the hotel that she and Lex were at. He also tells Clark since he and Clark transferred bodies temporarily, an event he remembers nothing of, his liver has been healed and he feels he's become a moral man who only wants to make up for his evil past. Clark is wary and tells Lionel so, but he agrees to search for the car. Lana gets a visitor at the Talon coffee shop the next day who tells her she's Jason Teague's mother but the women looks exactly like the women in the crowd in her dream who cast a spell on Lana at her dying moment. She asks Lana to have Jason contact her as they're estranged at the time and Lana agrees.
Clark and Chloe manage to track down the car and find out it belonged to a Miss Eve Andrews who lived in Metropolis and Clark races there at super-speed and enters the house as the door is unlocked. And inside he finds Lex burning up several pictures of himself he found in the house! Suddenly both men hear sirens approaching and Lex pleads with Clark to help him. Clark gets Lex away from the scene before the police arrive and he insists that it's still his father trying to frame him as this girl was obviously a stalker of Lex's that his father discovered. Chloe and Clark find videotape of the girl and Lex and discover that the girl was wearing two diamond earrings that night but one had disappeared in the hotel elevator. But the girl's dead body had been found with two earrings on it and they deduce that Lex was with two different women that night!
Lex's attorney visits and tells Lex that he had dated the dead girl and Lex admits he doesn't even try to remember all the women he seduces. His attorney reminds Lex he once dated her also and he's probably getting his just rewards for his past behavior, and then she quits the case refusing to help Lex. Lex now suspects his attorney as she had written the database of stalkers of Lex's that his father had her compile. Chloe and Clark visit the elevator Lex and the girl were in and Clark uses his x-ray vision to find the earring at the bottom of the elevator's shaft. He retrieves it and goes once again to visit Lionel Luthor. Lionel correctly figures that the girl on the elevator was an old lover of Lex's looking for revenge and that she's still alive and he tells Clark she must be found to prove Lex is innocent.
Lex's attorney calls and asks Lex to visit him and when he does he finds her dead and covered in blood in her office, and next to her body is the dead girl's missing MP3 player. Then Lex turns to see the girl he was with at the fundraiser holding a gun on him and she clubs him with her gun knocking him out. The girl worked for Lex's attorney and one day he came in and didn't even recognize her and then her fiance left her as he found out about her tryst with Lex and that's when she decided to frame Lex for murder. The girl has Lex carried into his mansion telling his security Lex has been drinking, and once inside she ties him to a chair in his study and tells him the entire story.
Lana tells Jason about her dreaming about, then meeting his mother and though he can't explain it either, he tells Lana he has no desire to see his controlling mother ever again. Clark and Chloe find out that the earrings were given to a girl that worked in Lex's lawyers firm and they try to call and warn him of the plot against him. Clark races to the mansion to try and save Lex and he better hurry as his enraged stalker-murderess is pouring booze all over the bound Lex and is about to set him ablaze. She drops a candle and the room starts burning. Suddenly Clark races into the room, and snuffs out the fire, knocks out the killer, and then races out of the room before anyone can see him.
Lex is acquitted of the murders and the real villain taken away. Clark tells Ma and Pa what he did to help Lex and he also tells them what's happened to Lionel Luthor but Pa refuses to believe that either Luthor will ever be trustworthy. Lex visits his father and Lionel tells him he just helped Clark so that maybe Lex will believe he's really changed and give him a chance to be a father to Lex again. Lex tells him be thankful for his miraculous liver cure as there won't be any such cure between the two of their relationship ever. Lex sees Clark afterwards and thanks him for all his help. He also confesses he worries that he's turning into a truly evil person and he's not sure even he can stop it now, but he asks Clark to please not give up on him as a friend and as a human being.
Jason finally meets with his mother and he tells her to not see him again until he wishes it and she agrees. But the way she talks about Lana makes Jason suspicious and he wonders if his mother somehow arranged his and Lana meeting in Paris. As she drives away in the pouring rain, Jason finds himself doubting his own mother and her motivations in his life.

Our Story:
Clark is in the Talon coffee shop studying and he turns down two girls' invitation to a hot tub party. He tells Ma, who now works at the coffee shop, that any girl would be crazy to be involved with him as he must always cover up the fact he has the many powers he's gained in the last few years. Meanwhile, Alicia Baker, the girl with the ability to transport herself and others through space, is being released from the Belle Reve asylum she's been kept in as the Doctor has pronounced her sane and completely cured!
Clark returns home to his barn loft and finds Alicia there waiting for him. She tells Clark the Doctor gave her a lead bracelet which prevents her from using her kryptonite-based powers. She also reassures Clark she is cured and that she'll never reveal that she knows about his powers, and then she leaves. Ma and Pa are skeptical due to Alicia's past actions but Clark tells them he feels confident his secret is safe with Alicia. Chloe's research shows that Dr. McBride has indeed declared Alicia cured and he runs off as soon as she tells him so. Lana and Jason discuss their lack of a relationship which was stalled when Jason was fired.
Alicia and Clark go ice skating and start getting attracted to each other quite a bit as Clark can let down his guard with her. When she steps away from Clark from a minute, she's confronted by Dr. McBride who tells her it's unhealthy for her to date Clark whom she was obsessed with, and if she continues he'll consider having her recommitted to the asylum. Alicia asks Clark to runaway with her but doesn't tell Clark the Doctor's threats are the reason, so naturally he tells her he wouldn't ever run away. After the date, Lisa breaks into Chloe's desk at the school newspaper office and steals the red kryptonite ring Chloe left there!
Lionel Luthor visits his son Lex and tries to convince him he's changed his ways since being released from prison but Lex will hear none of it and remains wary of his father. Alicia visits Clark and tells him about the Doctor's threats and she's packed and ready to run off to California. She won't report the Doctor as she's too afraid of being back in Belle Reve. Clark tells her running away still isn't the answer so she gives him a necklace she made for him but it has the red kryptonite stone in it. Clark puts it on and immediately is affected by the red kryptonite. Lana sees Chloe and tells her she and Jason's troubles are because she won't go to bed with him.
Chloe advises Lana to wait until she is ready, not because Jason is. Under the kryptonite's influence Clark wants sex but when Alicia refuses, Clark impetuously asks her to run off to Las Vegas with her and get married and then removes the bracelet which prevents her from using her teleportation powers. The next we see of them is they're in a chapel in Las Vegas where they actually do get married, and then they run off to a hotel to consummate their marriage! Lana offers to make love to Jason but he says no as he suspects his mother has purposely had them meet and he can't commit to Lana under the circumstances.
Alicia can't bring herself to make love with Clark until she removes the red kryptonite necklace as she doesn't want any regrets afterwards. She takes the necklace off and Clark immediately reacts with horror at her actions. Lisa shows her disappointment by teleporting away. Clark tries to find Alicia but the Doctor blames Clark by claiming Clark stalked Alicia. The Doctor then threatens to have Clark committed and suddenly Lisa teleports into the room. The Doctor then turns and fires a gun at Clark and then she teleports into the bullets path. She's hit by the bullet and Clark knocks the Doctor out and races to the hospital with Alicia.
Alicia was hit in the arm and will be okay, and Dr. McBride is ironically committed to Belle Reve where he once worked. Clark tells Alicia he did want her as badly as she wanted him and they both simply went too fast too soon. Clark apologizes and leaves the bracelet for Alicia to use once more. Lex invites his father for a visit and they verbally spar for a minute and then Lex finally relents and offers the guest house for his father's use but the two remain skeptical of each other. Ma tells Clark that even though the marriage had been declared illegal, it doesn't excuse Clark's actions. Ma also tells Clark she knows how lonely his powers make him but his poor judgment is still hard to take.
Alicia sees Clark and the two actually reconcile with each other with Alicia telling Clark her secret is safe with her forever. As she cries in his arms we see the two have been through an ordeal together and despite what Ma and Pa say, the two have grown closer and only the future can tell what that means.

Our Story:
It's Karaoke night at the Talon coffee shop and Chloe and Lois are rocking it up when suddenly Clark walks in hand in hand with Alicia Baker and the place comes to a screaming halt. Alicia tries to apologize but Lana walks away telling her she still thinks Alicia is dangerous. Jason echoes the sentiment to Clark and then he leaves with Lana. Later Lana is taking a shower when we see what looks like dust flying in through her keyhole to her apartment. Suddenly someone wraps the shower curtain over Lana trying to suffocate her. But Jason has just arrived and hearing Lana's screams he breaks in and finds her barely conscious with no sign of any attacker!
Lana is okay when Clark visits but Lana, Jason, Chloe, Lana, everyone, including the Sheriff, is pointing the finger of guilt at Alicia because of her well known ability to transport and her dangerous actions in the past before she received psychological treatment and was declared sane. Clark asks Chloe to investigate if anyone else in Smallville has powers that could have been used in Lana's attack, but Chloe refuses, convinced of Alicia's guilt. A young man named Tom walks in and tells Clark he saw Alicia in the alley last night besides Lana's apartment. Clark asks Alicia but she tells him she didn't do it. But when Clark sees Alicia isn't wearing the bracelet that inhibits her powers he gets suspicious, but Alicia assures him she just wants to keep her power and never use it against anyone.
Ma Kent and Clark agree to watch over Lana while Jason's doing some work at the University, and Jason walks out and gets in his car. Again we hear what sounds like a gust of wind and suddenly Jason is being strangled with a scarf. In desperation Jason leans on the car's horn and Clark races out and crashes through the passenger window. But when he does, suddenly the assailant is gone and Clark and Jason are left staring at the scarf still wrapped around Jason's neck! Jason's mother hears about the attempt on Jason and Jason accuses her of manipulating his meeting Lana in Paris. She denies it and then berates Jason and Lana and leaves. Clark bends a fishing lure into a bracelet for Alicia to wear but she tells him only traces of lead in her bloodstream will work on her as the special bracelet she destroyed did.
Clark shows Alicia that the scarf that was used on Jason is hers and she still denies attacking Jason. Clark tells Alicia to go to the Sheriff but she tells him she didn't do it and suddenly transports away.
Clark tells the Sheriff that the scarf is Alicia's and the Sheriff tells Clark that Alicia was being questioned about Lana's incident when Jason was attacked. Alicia goes to Chloe and tells her she's going to show her something that will be the story of her life. Alicia transports Chloe and she to her car and then drives down the road at high speed. She then calls Clark and tells her where she is and that her car is racing out of control. As the car heads towards a barricade, Alicia transports herself and Chloe to the roadside behind some bushes. The car careens off the barricade and goes somersaulting through the air. But then Clark races up at super-speed and catches the car in mid-air right in front of Alicia and Chloe!
Tom from school takes Lois on a tour of the local museum. Once there, Tom tells Lois about his father telling him that the meteor shower brought evil to Smallville, and Tom feels the town has become immoral due to the meteor's influence. As Lois sees that Tom has problems she excuses herself and says she's going to the Talon. But after she leaves, we see Tom turn himself into a dust-like substance and then he whirls from the room with the strange noise we heard earlier during the attacks! Lois tells Chloe that she suspects Tom is the attacker and then leaves for Alicia's house to find Clark.
Alicia has arrived home to find Tom in her barn going through her belongings, and he admits he's looking for evidence to leave at his next crime scene which will further incriminate her. He then puts a handkerchief over her mouth and strangles her! Jason's mother drops in and tells Lex that she disapproves of Jason and Lana's relationship. If Lex will help to break up Jason and Lana, Mrs. Teague will give Lex the information on how his father got out of prison. Clark arrives at Alicia's to find her dead, hanging in a noose. He screams in pain at her death and then Lois arrives and tells Clark she thinks that Tom actually committed the crimes. Clark races to find Tom and Tom then admits his crimes and turns into his dust swirl form and attacks Clark!
Clark uses his heat-vision on the cloud and the pain causes Tom to revert back to his normal state. Clark then holds him in the air with one hand and with tears in his eyes he starts to strangle Tom. Lois runs into the barn and stops Clark before he can kill Tom and with tears still running down his cheeks, Lois calms him before he loses control. Jason visits Lex who offers him a high paying job to help Lex look into his mother's affairs to find out what she's really up to. Jason knows he can't find work anywhere and reluctantly agrees. Ma and Pa Kent try to console Clark telling him Alicia's death wasn't his fault. But he tells them is he had only trusted her she night still be alive, and he'll never forgive himself.
Chloe wonders what to do about knowing about Clark and she asks Lois what to do with a great secret she's learned. Lois advises her that if she cares about the person and if it will do no harm to keep the secret, then she should stay quiet and be supportive of the person. Our Story:
Lois is back in Metropolis and the college crowd is having a drink-off in which Lois proceeds to put several young men under the table with her ability to drink shots of liquor. With no competition left Lois leaves the bar for a good night's sleep. Lois decides to take in the night air after getting back to her dorm, but one of the young men she bested at drinking wants a more physical style of rematch. Using her self-defense skills, she knocks the young man down and leaves. But the next morning, the police arrive to arrest Lois as the boy is now paralyzed!
Metropolis University is interested in signing Clark due to his grades and his excellence at football, but Pa Kent is skeptical as to Clark hiding his abilities if he's pushed into the limelight. Clark reassures Pa he never uses his powers on the field and that's good enough for Pa. Then Geoff Johns, the current ex-Smallville star at Metropolis U., stops to escort Clark to his interview. It seems that is was Geoff's teammate who was paralyzed in the accident with Lois. Chloe tells Lois she'll return with her to Metropolis to root out this mystery. She also tells Clark, since she now knows about his powers, that she's surprised he's going with a football scholarship, and Clark gets a little suspicious about what she means.
Jason tells Lex he doesn't want to work with Lex looking into his Mother's affairs and Lex convinces Jason it's all in the interests of protecting Lana. And he also tells Jason his Mother has been investigating the death centuries ago of the supposed witch Margaret Isabelle Theroux. Lois visits Coop, the paralyzed boy, and tells him she knows she couldn't have done this to him. They go to see Monique who is Coop's girlfriend and ask questions about the stricken youth. Meanwhile, Clark is being overwhelmed at his reception at Metropolis U. complete with receiving his own numbered football jersey, to promises of a free car if he accepts the scholarship. Then he's taken to a sorority house where the young ladies are even willing to bed him if he signs with their school.
But when Clark uses his x-ray vision on a noise in the closet he discovers Lois who tells him the paralyzed boy went with a girl who sleeps in that very room. She also tells Clark that the young man was ready to meet with a reporter to talk about something to do with the football team. The young man is starting to regain motion when Geoff, the football star, visits him telling him he can't allow him to tell anyone about his special power he uses to win games. Then he touches the young man and a glow emanates from his fingers re-paralyzing the boy. And once the young man's helpless again, he takes a pillow and suffocates him!
Lois confronts Geoff who tells she and Clark that Coop died an hour ago. Then Geoff tells Clark to tell Lois to stay away from the University. Lana is furious when Jason tells hers he's investigating the Countess Theroux for Lex Luthor, but Jason reassures her he won't let their relationship be endangered. Lana tells Lex she thinks this is all just a ploy of Lex's to break her and Jason apart. Lex tells Lana when she's ready to hear the truth about Jason she can return. Geoff tells Clark that being a football star means a lot of pressure to win. Then Geoff leaves to talk to a young man who Clark uses his super-hearing to overhear say that Geoff owes him money. Then Clark sees the young man momentarily collapse when Geoff tells him to leave and he starts to suspect there's more to Geoff then meets the eye.
Clark goes and tells Chloe and Lois that he saw Geoff use his power to paralyze and that Geoff had been paying other students to take his urine tests for him. Chloe and Lois look into the young man faking Geoff's tests for him while Clark seeks out Geoff. But while Lois is talking to the young man who's covering for Geoff, Geoff himself shows up and paralyzes Lana taking her away. But Chloe sees Geoff drive off in a hurry and then finds Lois' glasses on the ground and knows that Geoff must have taken Lois! Chloe tells Clark what Geoff has done and they track him down using the computer chip in his car's navigation system.
Geoff has put Lana in a culvert which he starts to fill with water to make it look like an accident. But Clark has gotten the car's location from the chip and super-speed runs to the spot and pulls Geoff from his car. Geoff tries his power on Clark but Clark simply slaps his hand away from him when his powers don't work on him. Geoff explains he never used his powers in high school, but once in college the pressure to win was too much for him. Geoff tells Clark where Lois is and Clark gets her head above water just in time. Afterwards, Clark tells Ma and Pa Kent that he won't take the football scholarship as Geoff's experience using his power on the field has shown him what he'd have to do to keep from using his powers or having them exposed. On the basis that's it's just not fair to the other players, he has decided to give up football. Clark's show of mature integrity impresses them with what a fine son they have raised.
Lex informs Lana that Jason has known about the Countess Theroux since he was a child and he's been lying to her, and now Lana doesn't know what to think of Jason. Despite being found innocent, Lois is thrown out of Metropolis University for past infractions and the drinking she did the night that the young man was paralyzed. She has no place to stay so Clark offers to let her stay with them for a while and Lois quickly accepts. Chloe is shocked when Clark gives up the football scholarship, and she tells him she's proud of him as she thinks he's made for more then just making touchdowns. Later, Clark stands in the stadium thinking about what might have been. But as we know, he is destined for far more then what lies on a gridiron.

Our Story:
Two young men pull up to the Small Co-Op store in a truck and the shopkeeper hears the door jingle as someone enters just as he's locking up the day's proceeds in the safe. Suddenly two dogs, one a huge black Labrador and the other a red Irish Setter, confront the man. The Labrador growls ferociously and the Setter walks over to the safe and rips it open using his jaws! The setter then carries the bags of money from the safe and the men put the money in the truck. But the Labrador attacks the helpless store manager by knocking down a steel door and rushing him and mauling him badly. Then one young man blows a dog whistle and the Labrador returns to the truck, but the Setter has run off so the men leave.
While driving home to Smallville, Lois suddenly comes across the setter in the road and accidentally hits the dog with her car. A visibly upset Lois loads the injured dog into her car and heads for help for the poor animal. The Kents are awakened that night by the sound of a crash in the kitchen and they find the Setter sitting there eating the roast that was that night's supper. Lois enters and explains what happened and that the dog seems to be healed from any injuries from being hit and he's also ripped a pole out of the barn that Lois tied him to. Pa is hesitant at best but he agrees to let them keep the dog until its proper owner is found. Clark uses his x-ray vision and sees a locater/owner microchip under the dog's skin. Then he sets about at super-speed repairing the pole the dog somehow tore loose while the dog sits there amused by Clark's super-speed.
Chloe drops by and meets the dog and Clark ties the dog to a tractor figuring that will hold him, but as soon as he enter the house he hears a crash. When he exits the house he sees the dog has dragged the tractor through the fence and is sitting in the front yard. Chloe and Lois walk out and see what happened and Clark tells then he must have left the tractor's brake loose. Lois wants to call the dog 'Clarky' but Clark wants to call him Krypto. They take the dog to the dog pound and one of the young men who was involved in the robbery waits on them! Krypto reacts to this with a growl raising Clark's suspicions, and then they scan the microchip and find that the dog is owned by Luthorcorp. Clark tells Lois to take the dog home while he visits Lex Luthor for some answers.
After they leave the young man joins the other robber in the back where they're keeping the Labrador in a kryptonite barred cage. The elder man explains that they'll steal the setter back from the Kents and then inject both dogs with a green liquid that the one man explains will return their great strength to them in time for an armored car robbery they're planning! Genevieve Teague visits Lex Luthor to tell him she's displeased with Lex hiring her son Jason to investigate the long dead witch Countess Margaret Isabelle Theroux, as she had asked Lex to hire Jason to try and break up his relationship with Lana. Meanwhile Krypto has helped himself to the family's dinner once again but this time he cracked the table in two when he jumped up on it!
Clark sees Lex who tells him his father had been experimenting on digs injecting then with kryptonite based steroids to imbue them with super-strength. Lex tells him he had the testing stopped and all the dogs had been supposedly destroyed. Clark tells Lex denies the dog is normal and doesn't tell him the truth about the dog's great strength. Then the youths from the shelter have the Labrador attack Pa Kent on the barn to retrieve the setter and only the setter protecting Pa saves him from more then an arm wound. The crooks retrieve both dogs and leave to commit the armored car robbery. When the Kents read about the co-op manager being badly mauled they suspect Krytpo also and Pa tells Clark that if the dog proves dangerous, that he must be destroyed. Clark pleads the dog's case, and Pa Kent relents for now.
Jason confronts his mother about the Count Theroux witch his mother's been investigating for years. It seems Lana is the direct ancestor of the witch who swore revenge on the women who had her burned at the stake. And it seems Jason's mom is the condemning woman's direct ancestor who the witch swore to kill once she was reincarnated; in this case the reincarnation being Lana who Genevieve feels will kill all the Teagues when she returns. Clark and Lois break into the pound and find the plans for the robbery and go to stop it and hopefully retrieve the setter. The robbery is going as planned when Clark and Lois arrive and spy on the robbery from the bushes.
While Lois frees the captive guards, Clark sneaks into the truck and pushes the button to open the cage and he frees the setter. But before he can free the Labrador, Kryptonite in the van affects him and he falls to the trucks floor helpless. The crooks find Clark and lock him in the cage the setter was in and drive off with the setter chasing the truck. The two crooks, who it turns out are brothers, decide to burn the truck with Clark and the Labrador inside to destroy all the evidence. But before they ignite the gas they've poured all over the truck, the setter leaps into the truck and pushes the button with his snout freeing Clark and the Labrador from their cages. Clark then easily knocks out the two thieves and just as the truck explodes, he shields the setter from the explosion with his invulnerable body.
A vet examines the setter and now that the steroids have worn off, he's just a normal healthy animal. Lex drops in and tells Clark that he feels his armored truck was attacked by super-strong dogs, but Clark convinces Lex the dog is normal and with Lex's permission, he lets Clark keep the dog. Lana feels she must confront Jason about what's going on with his working for Lex investigating the witch, as she's discovered that har family and the the Teague family both come from the same town in France. Lionel Luthor meets Jason at Lex's house and Lionel gives Jason a copy of the map which Lex already has which may provide clues to the Countess turned witch.
Although Clark wants to call the dog Krypto, everyone, including Lois, votes him down on the name. They all agree to name the dog 'Shelby', who now is officially a member of the Kent family. Although he's no longer a super-dog, he's still man's best friend and it seems that's plenty for Clark who's happy to have him.

Our Story:
Clark is discussing college applications with Ma Kent when a package arrives from Dr. Virgil Swann, and just then Pa turns on the TV and the Kents find out that Dr. Swann has sadly passed away. Clark opens the package from the doctor to find a note that tells him to seek out his father as Clark was sent here for specific reasons. And in the package is the long-lost key to Clark's destroyed spaceship which will activate the programs in the Kawatche caves that Jor-El, Clark's biological father, left for Clark to find and use. He takes the key to the caves and a hologram comes on and Jor-El tells Clark that our world will destroy itself if Clark does not follow his true destiny.
Jor-El has left three stones hidden all over the Earth which contain all Kryptonian knowledge, but if human beings find the stones they will most likely use their knowledge and power for destruction. Jason calls Lana and lies telling Lana he's in Metropolis when actually he's standing in China! Jason hangs up and gets another call from Lex who it turns out is standing right behind Jason! The map that Lionel Luthor, Lex's father, gave Jason leads to a temple in China where one of the three stones is kept. Ma and Pa try to dissuade Clark from seeking out the stones but Clark is now convinced he must be the one to find them and to stop denying the destiny someone with his powers must follow.
Lana sees Lionel Luthor and he tells her that Jason is in China with Lex and the map. He also tells her that the Countess Isabelle Theroux, the witch who is a direct descendant of Lana's, sought throughout her lifetime to find the stones. He tells her that the Duchess Gertrude who had Isabelle killed is a direct descendent of Jason! Clark visits Lana and she tells Clark that Lionel Luthor has arranged to fly her to China, although Lana is very upset with Jason for lying to her about the whole affair. Lionel Luthor also told Lana of a professor in China who will help to guide her through China to the temple. Lex and Jason are arrested by Chinese authorities who haul them off to the very temple they're looking for to question the pair. Lana confides in Clark that she's frightened by the power of the countess that resides within her and she worries about hurting those around her and Clark can certainly relate to that feeling.
Lex is dragged out of his cell to be questioned leaving Jason alone in the dark. Clark and Lana meet the professor who'll guide them, and she explains to them that the legend says that a god left the stone and map in China centuries ago and many people are seeking the stones and their power. Lex is dragged back to his cell badly beaten and when Jason is taken away, Lex tells the guard not to really hurt him, and we realize all this is a plan for Lex to get information out of Jason. But the guard suddenly turns on Lex telling him that others with more money want the stone and the guard has sold Lex out!
The professor leads Clark and Lana to the temple where Clark uses his x-ray vision to spot a robe behind a wall that has the same map as Jason. Clark breaks through the wall while the professor and Lana look elsewhere but Kryptonite stones in the idol wearing the robe weaken Clark and make him helpless. Meanwhile back in the prison, Lex and Jason are tortured to try and make them talk but neither cracks under the pressure. But when that fails the guard brings in Lana who the Chinese troops have captured in the temple. They start to torture Lana when suddenly the Countess Theroux takes over Lana's body and she breaks free and hurls her captors aside with Latin spells and powerful bolts of magical energy.
Lana also tells then that the map is not actually a map but a painting of an actual scene. Clark crawls away from the kryptonite and arrives at Lex and Jason's cell but the Countess knocks Clark out with a mystical bolt to the chest. When he awakens he frees Lex and Jason and they go to where Clark found the robe in the wall. Jason figures out that the map is actually a drawing of the temple drawn centuries ago. Clark reasons that the stone is at a base of the tree in the foreground of the painting and he heads towards that spot, but the Countess is already there and with her magic she forces the kryptonian symboled stone from the ground.
Clark arrives and the countess throws him all over the place using her magic energies. Then they battle into the temple where Lana uses her magic to stab Clark with a sai. He pulls it out of his shoulder and then Lana grabs a sword and the two fight ferociously for possession of the powerful stone. Clark and Lana finally both grab the stone at the same time and between her magic and Clark's power there's a tremendous energy feedback which stuns them both and brings Lana back from the Countesses control. But when Lex and Jason arrive they find that the stone has disappeared!
Everyone flies back to Smallville and when Lana visits Clark he tells her that he doesn't recognize a part of her anymore due to the power within her. Lana laughs as she tells Clark she's felt the same way about him in the past, and the pair grow closer through this bond of similarity. Clark finds one last message from Dr. Swann in his e-mail folder and reads it. Lex accuses his father of manipulating the whole affair but Lionel tells his son he's truly reformed and that men were not meant to possess the stone's powers. Jason visits Lana and apologizes for his duplicity as he felt the search for the stone would endanger Lana which is exactly what happened. Then he gives Lana the stone from the temple which he found while Clark and Lana were knocked out.
Lana accepts the stone and hugs Jason, but while she does we see the evil look of the countess enter her eyes as now she has one of the stones of knowledge. Clark tells them he lost the stone in the struggle and that Dr. Swann's last e-mail said that Bridget Crosby, Swann's personal assistant, was to give Clark one of the stones that Dr. Swann had for years but Crosby has mysteriously disappeared. Clark returns to the cave and the Jor-El hologram tells him he must pursue his own destiny. And we're left with the feeling that now he comes closer to that destiny everyday.

Our Story:
A young lady flies on her skies down the slopes of St. Moritz in Switzerland and finds she's being chased by two men in black. Only by sheer nerve and a little luck does she manage to escape her pursuers. Back in Smallville its 3 O'clock in the morning when Lois Lane gets a call and we discover that the young lady is none other then Lois' sister Lucy, and she's coming tomorrow to visit. Before Lois can object, Lucy hangs up and a disgruntled Lois goes back to bed. The next morning Lois makes breakfast for the Kents to thank them for letting her live with them for a while. Unfortunately, the Kents discover that Lois is quite simply a horrible cook, but they gain a reprieve from having to eat the meal when Lucy shows up at the door.
The Kents tell Lucy she's welcome to stay with Lois in her room and Clark seems to like Lucy but Lois seems nervous over the prospect even though she praises Lucy as a straight "A" student at a prestigious European school. Jason and Lana return from jogging to discover her apartment has been ransacked and the Kyrptonian stone of knowledge, one of three that exist, is the only thing that's missing. Back at the Kents sparks are flying between Clark and Lucy and Lois doesn't like it one bit. In fact, she tells Clark that even though she practically raised Lucy until their father sent Lucy to boarding school, she loves Lucy but really doesn't like her as a person.
Lois is now working at the Talon coffee shop which Ma Kent is managing for Lex Luthor the owner. Chloe brings Lucy into the shop and introduces Lucy to Lex who's impressed with her claim of being an accomplished violinist and he invites her to the mansion to hear her. Suddenly the man who'd been chasing Lucy on the slopes back in Switzerland appears at the Talon and Clark notices him eyeing Lucy and asks her who he is, but when they both look back again the man is gone! Jason storms in on Lionel Luthor demanding the return of the stone to the point where he physically threatens Lex's father. Lionel suggests that Jason look to his mother for the stone and then both men are surprised when they see that an upset Lana has been watching the whole scene from the doorway.
That night Clark sees Lucy sneaking out of the house and then breaking into the Talon to steal money from the register. He confronts her and she explains the man who's been chasing her is a German loan shark who she owes $50,000! She won't go to General Lane and spoil her image of the perfect daughter and she doesn't want to Let Lois down either. Clark convinces her to just lay low in Smallville until he can find a way to help her and she agrees. Lois and Clark go to see Lex who is playing a duet with Lucy. When he hears about her problems he tells Clark this German syndicate's been fighting against his business interests in that country for years and he'll help Lucy to get evidence against them legally.
Lex takes Lois, Lucy, and the $50,000 in untraceable bearer bonds to deliver to Marcus Becker, the loan shark, but on the way Becker pulls them over disguised as a policeman. He then beats Lex up and takes the bonds and the girls as Clark races to the scene but is too late to stop him! Clark tells Lex that Lucy has been in on the con from the start and it was all just a way to get the German syndicate their shot at some of Lex's big money. Becker locks the Lane's in a tractor trailer outside of town and calls Lex demanding $500,000 in bearer bonds this time. Lex refuses but when he turns around he finds Clark is gone and we see him racing towards the truck.
As the truck passes under him, Clark makes a spectacular leap from the overpass and lands on the truck with a sliding crash but manages to hang on. He leaps to the cab's side and knocks Becker out by punching him straight though the window and then brings the careening truck to a safe halt with no one harmed. As Lex and his security arrive they free the Lanes but Lucy uses the distraction to steal Becker's getaway car that was also in the back of the truck! The car is found later but there's no sign of Lucy or the $50,000 in bonds. Lex tells Clark all this and also tells him he considers Clark the brother he never had and that means more then blood relations to him.
Lionel tells Lex that Jason had found the Kryptonian stone in China and he also tells him it's now been stolen. Then we see that Lana has the stone after all and faked the robbery and has it hidden in a new spot to cast suspicion away from her. Lois sees Clark up in the barn loft and Clark tries to console her about Lucy and her actions. Lois is grateful, but it's clear she will bear mental scars from her disappointment over her sister. As we all know, sometimes those closest to us can bring either the best or the worst out in us.

Lex Luthor/Alexander: Michael Rosenbaum

Our Story:
Lex Luthor and a Dr. Sinclair are in a Lexcorp lab conducting an experiment heating up a kryptonite rock to a very specific high temperature. As the meteor rock heats up, a tray underneath it opens and plant seeds are exposed to the radiation being created by the experiment. But suddenly the rock won't stop rising in temperature and turns from its normal green shade to a dark black. As alarms blare, Lex pushes Dr. Sinclair to the lab floor just as the rock explodes. But before he can get down himself, a burst of radiation fires though Lex's body pulsating with weird energy. The rock explosion demolishes the lab, and Lex helps the Doctor to his feet to take him to the hospital. But as they leave, behind a lab table at their back another Lex Luthor rises from the wrecked lab and watches them go!
Clark and Chloe go to the Smallville Medical center to see if Lex is all right. He assures them he's fine and invites them both back to the lab to explain the experiment, but Chloe decides to drop in on Dr. Sinclair first. As they speak, the other Lex is already in Dr. Sinclair's room telling him how he's been split into two Lex Luthors. Dr. Sinclair tells this Lex his lab notes may show a way to reintegrate the two of them and Lex tells him to rest. But as the Doctor sleeps, Lex takes a needle and injects air into the Doctor's I.V. tube, and as he exits the room he meets Chloe who tells Lex she thought he left with Clark. As Lex walks away, a trauma team rushes into the room as Dr. Sinclair's heart has stopped, and Chloe watches Lex walk away with an ominous look on his face.
Back at the wrecked lab, the "good" Lex explains to Clark that his experiments with super-heated meteor rocks radiating plant seeds has enabled the seeds to be grown in sand with very little moisture but he gives Clark an apple to try and Clark tells Lex it tastes rotten. Lex explains that if that problem can be removed, world hunger will be a thing of the past. He opens a locker with more meteor rocks which makes Clark sick, and telling Lex the apple made him ill Clark leaves the room. But behind a pillar in the lab, the evil Lex has overheard the entire conversation! The good Lex returns to the mansion and his father Lionel is waiting for him concerned after hearing of the accident. He also tells Lex his charity fund is having troubles and Lex offers to hold the fund-raiser in Lexcorp headquarters in Metropolis and to help raise money for it too surprising the elder Luthor as the two actually share a tender moment. After Lionel leaves, suddenly Lex is surprised to be confronted by the evil Lex who clubs him unconscious with a gun!
The evil Lex chains his counterpart to a pillar in the basement of the mansion cellar where no one can hear Lex call for help. Telling him he can't risk killing him as he isn't sure it wouldn't kill both of them, he also tells Lex he's the part of him that's always been inside Lex and that he's glad to be free at last. Then he puts an iron mask on the good Lex and walks out telling Lex the world will now see the real Lex Luthor. The next day, Chloe tells Clark about Dr. Sinclair's death and they realize they were somehow both with Lex at the same time. Chloe tells Clark she'll try hacking into the Medical center's surveillance system to get video from the time frame of their visit and Clark leaves her to her work. Lana enters her apartment over the Talon coffee shop to find Lex waiting inside in response to a message saying she wants to talk about Jason, but instead Lex makes a pass at her trying to kiss Lana who slaps Lex in response. He then tells Lana unless she gives in to his advances, that he'll close the Talon and throw her out on the street leaving a stunned Lana in his wake.
Lionel revisits Lex while he's practicing his fencing as he's found out that Lex has cancelled the fund raising dinner he promised him earlier. Lex says he's just trying to convince his father he's not being true to his nature and then promises his father he'll reinstate the dinner if his father will have a sword fight with him right on the spot. Lex throws Lionel a sword over his father's protests and attacks him immediately not giving him a chance to back down. The two thrust and parry until Lionel finally loses his temper and goes after Lex full force knocking him down. Lex smiles at his arousal of his father's temper and slashes Lionel across the cheek to leave him a reminder of the event. Lana sees Clark and tells him about her encounter with Lex as Chloe calls Clark telling him she's gotten pictures of them from the hospital's security monitors that show they were both with Lex at the same time. Now they are certain that there are two Lex Luthors running around. Clark confronts the evil Lex with the pictures but he convinces Clark he's the good one by citing items Clark and the good Lex talked about when the evil Lex was eavesdropping on them in the lab. Lex has Clark and Chloe meet him at the wrecked lab and tells them he'll straighten everything out and then he leaves the room for a moment. While Clark and Chloe are standing under a concrete second floor walkway in the lab, the evil Lex detonates charges he'd planted there burying Clark and Chloe in rubble. But then Lex is shocked to see Clark stand up and throw the debris off of he and Chloe as if it were balsa wood, so know he knows about Clark's special powers!
After Clark makes sure she's okay, Chloe decides she'll be safer visiting Lois on the military base Lois is at with her father General Lane. Clark walks out into his barn loft to find the evil Lex waiting for him. Lex tells him he knows about his powers and how it explains all the times Clark saved him and he's furious because Clark lied to him all these years. When Clark grabs Lex demanding to know where the good Lex is, Lex pulls out a kryptonite ring and putting it on he punches Clark straight out of the barn down to the ground bleeding from where Lex hit him on the face. Ma and Pa Kent come running out and find Clark hurt and Lex tells them he knows all their secrets now and Clark will help him or his loved ones will suffer. And to make his point he shoots Pa Kent through the leg and leaves!
Clark and Ma take Pa to the hospital and Clark tells them how the black kryptonite caused all this and he may be able to put the two Lexs back together with it. He speeds to the mansion and using his super-hearing he finds the good Lex chained in the basement. But as he's freeing one Lex, the other shows up using his kryptonite ring to keep Clark at bay. The two Lexs fight with each other with the evil one getting the upper hand using his ruthlessness. He starts to punch at the good Lex once more and at that second Clark uses his heat-vision to super-heat the green kryptonite ring into black kryptonite as the punch hits the good Lex. In a blaze of energy the two are finally melded back into one Lex who says he has no memory of what has happened and Clark tells Lex to apologize to Lana which he goes and does though awkwardly.
Later at the mansion, Lex ponders about the evil he now feels lives somewhere inside himself, and then his father comes in acting like the Lionel Luthor of old. He thanks Lex for reawakening his true self and tells him they both have no choice but to follow the destiny of being Luthors. As Lionel leaves, with the slightest of smiles Lex shows that his evil half may not be as deeply buried as Clark believes.

It's prom night at Smallville High and the party's in full swing, with a theme of "Look to the Stars!". As the band plays and the students dance, we see someone in a prom dress wearing the prom queen's tiara walk up to the case in the hall that holds a fireman's axe. She breaks the case and grabs the axe and continues down the hall until she runs into Pa Kent, who's playing chaperone, coming up the stairs. Suddenly she hits Pa with a hard right cross knocking him down the stairs and we're shocked to see it's Chloe! Chloe walks into the furnace room downstairs and breaks the line to the furnace spilling fuel oil all over the floor. Then she takes a janitor's broom and sticks it into the furnace setting its end ablaze and then turns and throws the makeshift torch right towards the puddle of oil!
One day earlier, Lana and Chloe are walking through the school hall and Chloe's article in the school paper calling for a boycott of voting for prom queen as an archaic ritual has the students buzzing. Dawn Stiles, the blonde bombshell shoo-in for prom queen, walks up and tells Chloe she doesn't have a chance against her, and Chloe is shocked to see her picture on the wall as one of the queen candidates! Lex Luthor's security has notified him of a body found partially buried on his property and as Lex comes to see for himself, Jason Teague arrives. The identification on the body shows it to be Bridgette Crosby, the assistant to the late Dr. Virgil Swann. He had told Clark of his true origin and also had possession of one of three kryptonian artifact pieces that supposedly could unlock a storehouse of Krypton's knowledge that Clark's biological father Jor-El placed in the Kawatche Indian caves in Smallville.
Lex has security escort Jason to his car despite his protests that he should be involved. Chloe confronts Clark who has secretly been promoting Chloe as a potential prom queen as part of her protest against stereotypes. He also tells Chloe that like Lana, he doesn't intend to go to the prom as it could never fulfill his expectations. Dawn and her friends arrive at the Talon coffee shop to find out that Dawn's boyfriend Billy has decided to break up with her the day before the prom. While driving down the road Dawn phones her friend Harmony and tells her to get Clark Kent's phone number for her as she's decided that's who's taking her to the prom. But Dawn isn't paying attention and her vehicle suddenly runs off the road tumbling down into a ravine filled with Kryptonite rocks. As Dawn's life fades from her injuries, the radiation from the rocks around her seeps into her body.
That night we see Dawn walking out of the woods seemingly unhurt from her accident and Ma Kent is driving down the road. As Dawn stands in the road, we see that from Ma's point of view there's no one there. The truck passes straight through Dawn and with a flash Dawn is somehow now inside Ma's body! Clark arrives home to find Ma dancing to loud music and then she then offers him ice cream for dinner. Not realizing Dawn's in control of his mother's body but that she is acting strangely, Clark informs her that he's not going to the prom and Dawn/Ma protests vehemently. Then when Lois, who's staying at the Kent house as a guest, comes downstairs Dawn/Ma accuses the two of them of going to the prom and Lois tells them that could never happen. Then Clark reminds Dawn/Ma she has to go to work at the Talon and Ma leaves using Dawn's signature goodbye, "Laters!".
When she arrives at the Talon, Dawn/Ma spots Lana and starts insulting her and when Lana walks away Dawn grabs her and finds she's now inside Lana's body! Clark arrives to check on Ma and Dawn/Lana wrangles Clark into taking her to the prom, and again leaves with her signature "Laters!". When Ma tells Clark she has no idea how she got there, Clark grows surer that something strange is going on here. Dawn/Lana goes to the high school and purposely comes onto her old boyfriend Billy as Lana. He jumps into the shower and tells Dawn/Lana he'll be right back, but as he comes out of the shower Dawn/Lana takes an electrical wire she's ripped from a floor buffer that's still plugged in and holds it on the lockers with the deadly electricity arcing into Billy! Clark follows Dawn/Lana from the Talon and speeds into the locker room and saves Billy by pushing him away from the lockers and then is shocked to see Lana exiting the room!
He pursues her into the hall but Dawn jumps into another student's body and then a teacher's and finally into her old friend Harmony's body and eludes Clark while Lana tells Clark she doesn't know how she got there just like Ma Kent said, so now Clark suspects that Dawn is somehow behind all this. Dawn's comatose body has been found in Carlton's ravine where many meteors are known to be, and while at the hospital Clark, Lana, and Chloe compare notes and reason that's Dawn's spirit is somehow running around taking over people's bodies. Dawn/Harmony arrives at the hospital to visit herself and when she sees how badly she's injured facially and otherwise, she inhabits a nurse and injects herself with a needle killing off her body! She then tells Clark and the girls that Dawn passed away and walks off.
Lex catches Jason going through his files on his laptop in the mansion, and Jason accuses Lex of having Bridgette Crosby killed for one of the kryptonian artifacts, and then Jason tells Lex he's going to tell the sheriff that Lex had an appointment with Crosby the day of her death. Lois is at the hospital trying to get allergy medicine and Dawn/Nurse uses the opportunity to occupy her body. Clark arrives home and finds Ma and Pa leaving to chaperone the prom and Ma tells Clark she rented him a tux in case he changes his mind. Clark confides that he had wished that someday he'd take Lana to the prom and then Ma and Pa leave. Suddenly Dawn/Lois comes down the stairs in full prom regalia and tells Clark that despite his protests, they're attending the prom together. Jason brings Sheriff Adams to the spot on Lex's property where the body was found but there's no trace of the body and no record that Bridgette Crosby ever even existed, so the sheriff tells Jason to stop wasting her time and leaves.
Afterwards, Jason calls his mother telling her that Lex must have disposed of the body as they'd hoped he would. After he hangs up, we see him smirk while he's holding one of the artifacts that Crosby must have intended to give to Lex the day they were to meet! Dawn/Lois and Clark arrive at the prom and Chloe's arrived also. Then the announcement is made that Chloe has been voted prom queen and Dawn/Lois hugs Chloe pretending to congratulate her while actually taking over her body to claim her most desired goal to be prom queen. She takes the stage and tells everyone that it's Dawn Stiles who really deserves the crown and the students disagree while chanting Chloe's name. And that's where Dawn decides to take her revenge and goes and gets the fire axe and heads to the furnace room. When Lois revives and demands to know what's going on and how she got there, Clark realizes Dawn has possessed Chloe and tells his Dad to go get something for him.
Clark confronts Dawn/Chloe in the furnace room and catches the flaming broom before it can ignite the fuel oil but Dawn sees Clark's strange abilities and touches him taking over his body and then shoves Chloe to the ground supposedly knocking her out. But Pa shows up with a piece of kryptonite and using it against Dawn/Clark it weakens her to the point where we see her spirit leave Clark and disappear into the air hopefully to go to her final rest. Chloe has seen what took place but keeping Clark's secret she pretends she was unconscious the whole time. They go back up stairs and then Lana walks in unexpectedly and Clark asks her for a dance. As they dance, we see that Jason walks in for a moment and seeing them dancing he then leaves. But in a way, Clark's wish of being with Lana on prom night has come true after all!

Our Story:
Lois is working at the Talon coffee shop and frantically trying to keep up with the orders. A young man sneaks over to the register and grabs money out of it but Lois sees him and confronts him about the theft. He then holds up his hand and green beams pour from each finger striking Lois in the forehead and she simply forgets what just happened. But when she opens the register again she sees money missing and loudly announces that she's been robbed. Clark races out to the alley and cuts the young man off as he races away in his truck, but again he shoots the beams from his fingers into Clark's forehead leaves. When Chloe runs up to the prone Clark and asks what happened, he tells her he has no idea who Clark is, as he's stricken with total amnesia!
Chloe takes Clark home but he still recognizes nothing as familiar to him. And when he goes to open the locked front door, he accidentally rips it out and throws it clear across the yard! Lois comes in and Chloe tells her a freak wind tore the door off and then she also tells Lois that Clark has amnesia that she thinks explains the robbery at the Talon as Lois has no memory of it either. Chloe asks where Ma and Pa Kent are and Lois says they're away in Metropolis for Pa Kent's annual heart exam. Lana returns to her apartment over the Talon to find Jason there holding her mail which has an envelope that says she's been accepted to Central Kansas University. But Lana tells Jason that not only may she not go to that school or any college at all, but she feels that they're relationship is at an end. Jason reacts angrily to this news grabbing Lana and telling her she has no idea how much he's been protecting her all this time and then he storms out the door.
Chloe takes Clark behind the barn and has him bend a crowbar as if where made of rubber and then she also tells him she thinks the meteor shower that occurred when he was little may have affected him and given him incredible powers. Clark asks if he trusted her with his secrets and Chloe admits that he didn't but Clark tells her he somehow knows that Chloe would never betray him and she agrees. Chloe and Clark go to the Talon and they discover he has x-ray vision when Clark spots a transport day-pass under the counter. Clark argues that he should be able to tell people about his powers as he hates the thought of living a lie, but Chloe convinces him to at least wait until his parents return and he can talk to them about it. Then Lana walks down the stairs from her apartment over the shop and Clark is immediately smitten at the sight of her. When he asks Chloe who Lana is, she tells him Lana is the "love of his life"!
Clark goes back to the loft and goes over his drawings of the Kawatche caves but they still jog no memories. Lois tells him to use his instincts as to whom he can trust, and in response he says he thinks they don't like each other very much. Clark confronts Lana at school and she tells him that she knows he's got amnesia and Clark tells her he'd like to have a second chance with her, but Lana doesn't feel comfortable talking about it. Chloe and Lois tell Clark that they found out the day-pass belongs to a Kevin Grady and they go to see him at his Smallville address. Kevin's at the house talking to his Dad who tries to tell him to return to Summerholt Neurological Institute where his father's been treating him and Kevin uses his power on his father to make him forget he was ever there. When Clark, Chloe, and Lois show up, Mr. Grady explains that Kevin and he and his other son Dillon were on a hunting trip and that Kevin accidentally shot his brother. He's being treated to forget what happened that day and then Mr. Grady shuts the door on the three. Lois looks around and Clark's super-hearing picks up Kevin leaving on a motorcycle, and Chloe tells him he has super-speed and can catch him but Clark ends up running miles past Kevin into a cow pasture!
Chloe takes Clark to see Lex Luthor to hopefully get them into Summerholt and Lex asks Chloe to leave Clark behind with him. She whispers to him before she leaves to be careful of Lex who takes Clark to the Kawatche caves telling him they've been working together to find what the caves are all about. Clark lets it slip that in his drawings it shows a doorway behind one of the symbols and Lex is anxious to see them but Clark doesn't trust Lex enough and they separate. Chloe sneaks into Summerholt and finds the archive room and a file on Kevin which she e-mails to Lois, but Mr. Grady catches Chloe and takes her captive. Lois and Clark see the recording showing Kevin strapped into a machine at Summerholt begging to be left alone. Clark speeds to where the hunting accident was and finds Kevin there and helps him to remember that it was his father and not he that shot his brother!
Clark and Kevin break into Summerholt with Clark snapping the lock on a panel on the roof. Meanwhile in the Summerholt lobby, Lois has bought Sheriff Adams with her and the Sheriff makes the receptionist let them in so they can look for Chloe. Dr. Grady has Chloe strapped into the machine which he used on his son and intends to erase her memory of what she's discovered. As Kevin and Clark head towards the lab, Clark falls behind and collapses when he nears a rack filled with kryptonite samples used in Summerholt's research. Kevin runs ahead and confronts his father as he's about to erase Chloe's memory. They struggle and Kevin's father knocks him to the ground and starts the machine, but Clark has managed to knock the rack of kryptonite jars away from him and he races into the room and blocks the machines rays with his own head protecting Chloe. The green rays strike Clark with full force and suddenly all his memories return as a massive feedback causes the machine to explode.
Just as the Sheriff and Lois enter the room, two transformers collapse and are about to crush Chloe but Clark catches them and tosses then aside with no effort. Lois and the Sheriff are amazed by what they've just seen, but Kevin revives and uses his power on Lois, Chloe and the Sheriff so they have no memory of the event. Mr. Grady is led away under arrest and Clark notices Kevin slipping away and tells him that he doesn't remember what happened during his amnesia, but he feels he should let Kevin leave without interfering. Kevin thanks Clark for the chance to start over with a clean slate and the two shake hands and part. Back at the farm, Clark finds Lex exiting the barn and asks what they talked about during his amnesia. Lex deliberately lies to Clark and says they discussed each others Summerholt experiences with amnesia and leaves. When he gets back to the mansion, we see that Lex has stolen and is studying the drawing Clark made about the caves and the chamber behind the hidden door.
Lana comes to visit Clark and he reminds her that he had amnesia when they talked about their relationship but before she can leave, he asks if they can start over with a fresh start between them. Then Clark goes to Chloe and asks if he did anything unusual while he had amnesia and Chloe tells him he did; he trusted her.

Our Story:
A young couple speeds down the road with the obviously pregnant girl telling the authorities over the 911 line they need help fast. As she screams in the pain of contractions the young man takes the phone begging for help. Suddenly her belly glows with a bright light and the young man pulls off the road into a field. Her stomach glows brightly green and she screams in pain as the young man panics and runs away from the car in fear. Suddenly the car is enveloped in a brilliant light as she screams one last time and with a huge explosion green light bathes the entire area. Lana and Clark and Clark are driving down the road and seeing the blast they reach the scene to find all that remains is a blast crater with a newborn child lying in the middle of it!
They take the baby to Smallville Medical Center and the sheriff tells Clark that Child Services will take custody of the baby as soon as they find a foster home for it, but for now there aren't any available. The baby is crying as Lana handles him, but as soon as Clark holds him he calms down at once. Clark suggests they take the baby until a home can be found for him and Ma and Pa Kent agree. Lana tells Chloe how well Clark's handling the baby and he comes in and asks Lana to come over and lend him a hand with the child. Chloe has found an audio record of the 911 call and they reason that even though the mother died in the blast, the fleeing father must still be out there somewhere. Clark asks Chloe to track the 911 call back to the cell phone and she agrees to try.
Genevieve Teague meets with Lionel Luthor and she tells him he must repay her for getting him out of prison by getting one the Kryptonian stones of power away from his son Lex, although they refer to the stone as the "element", not knowing its exact origins. She tells Lionel she'll go after Lex for it if she has to and Lionel cautions her against threatening any Luthor, he or his son. Back at the Kent farm Clark's discovering the down side of childcare is changing diapers when Lana arrives. Since he was found in Evans field, Clark and Lana agree to call the baby Evan. Clark warns Lana that getting attached to Evan may not be wise as the father is still out there somewhere. Suddenly the power in the farmhouse dims and Evan begins to glow brightly. Pa runs in joining Clark and Lana to find that Evan has just grown instantly into a seven year old little boy!
Lionel visits Lex and tells him that Genevieve Teague has set her sights on him looking for the missing element. He warns Lex that she had Bridgette Crosby killed to gain possession of one of them and she will do the same to Lex. As usual, Lex refuses to trust his father but tells him he'll be on the lookout for Genevieve Teague. Ma and Pa think that Evan should return to the hospital, but Clark decides that Lex's scientists have extensive background in Kryptonite and he wants Lex's people to look at Evan. Lana finds out that Evan's mind is developing even faster then his body and he's already read the encyclopedia up to "W" and he wants to climb a real windmill. Evan calls Clark Dad and Clark explains to him that he and Lana aren't his real parents and Lana reassures Evan that wherever his parents are that they love Evan very much.
Lex's scientists discover that Evan is storing energy and that it expends itself explosively in cell division which explains his rapid growth. If his father isn't found for a bone marrow transplant, Evan will keep aging rapidly until he dies! Then the lab's equipment begins to dim and with another even more violent explosion that shatter windows and equipment Evan again ages, this time into a teenager. Lex tries to keep Evan there but Clark refuses and takes him back to the farm. Evan knows that at the rate he's aging he doesn't have long to live and Clark goes to Chloe who has traced the 911 cell phone call back to a classmate of theirs. It seems the young woman had sexual relations with a man at a party a week ago and Chloe and Clark check the party invitation list's responses to find Evan's father's name among them. Clark finds him working in a local garage and he tells Clark that the girl got pregnant and was about to give birth in one week when he fled from the car.
He also doesn't want anything to do with Evan and considers him a freak, and not his son. Clark tells Evan he found his father and Evan naturally wants to meet him. But Clark warns him he'll be disappointed by the meeting but Evan gets upset and runs off. Clark tells Lex he's found Evan's dad but he won't help. Lex warns Clark that Evan's building to his final aging blast and the next one will be big enough to kill anyone nearby. Evan goes to the garage to meet his father but the man rejects him calling him a monster. When Evan reaches out to him the man pushes away and falls backwards onto an oil drum's spout accidentally impaling himself and he falls to the garage floor dead and Evan runs off. Lana finds Evan back at the Kent farm and he tells her he can feel his final growth burst coming on. He asks Lana to take him to the windmill at Chandler field so he can see the world from that perspective before the end and she agrees. Lex and Clark trail Evan to his father's body in the garage and Lex warns Clark that he must find Evan before the final growth surge and ensuing explosion.
Clark meets Chloe and she tells him there are powers surges occurring everywhere and it must be Evan building to his final blast. Clark races to the latest surge location as he knows Evan wanted to see a windmill before he dies. Lana are standing atop the windmill ten miles out of town and Evan finds a kind of peace seeing the countryside from high above it. Then he feels the final surge starting to occur as Clark races to the windmills top telling Lana to run away as fast as she can. Evan warns Clark to run too but Clark tells him he's staying to the end, and as Evan starts to explode Clark sees him rapidly aging and with a final titanic blast he disappears forever. But Clark has smothered Evan's body with his own and driven the explosion down towards the ground saving Lana from harm, and he tells her he got clear just as it happened, but sadly Evan is gone forever.
Clark and Lana are bereft over the loss of Evan and they comfort each other hoping that that in his short life they were able to be surrogate parents to him. Lionel Luthor visits Genevieve Teague and manages to poison her wine which he explains will kill her shortly unless she gives him the element, and then he'll give her the antidote to the poison. He also explains that he'll make sure that if Lex is harmed in any way, he'll finish her off once and for all. Clark tells Ma and Pa he fears that he'll never have children as he's an alien and they remind him they couldn't have children but they ended up with him and he can never tell what the future will bring. Clark visits Lex thanking him for taking care of the matter of Evan with the Child Services, and Lex tells Clark that his research on Evan will help the medical field and he intends to share it with the world. That comforts Clark over Evan's death and he leaves, but when Lex's scientist asks is he's really going to release the research results, Lex merely answers, "Someday". Lex shows once again he has purposely deceived Clark and his darker nature grows more and more every day.

Our Story:
Chloe is finishing up her last issue of the Smallville Torch high school paper when Brendan the photographer she's worked with for years comes in and at his request she signs his yearbook. He leaves and then she hears the first bell for classes ring and yet there's no one in the halls to answer it. She looks around and the only person she finds is a student bending over a water fountain who's frozen as though encased in wax. She tries the phones and they don't work, and when she looks out the windows she finds there are bars of lighting across them to simulate normal daylight. As she screams for help we see from the outside she's actually trapped inside an old factory in the middle of a field!
Ma and Pa Kent are surprised that Clark has chosen to attend Central Kansas College instead of Metropolis University so he can commute back and forth and still help out around the farm. Pa is upset that Clark would sacrifice the opportunity at Met U. and tells him he can manage the farm on his own and storms out the door. Chloe notices a couple of her classmates walking the halls and they warn her to act as if everything is normal as "he's" watching, and closed-circuit cameras in the halls following them verify that. Then Brendan comes through a door and explains to Chloe this is all his idea. He wasn't accepted into any colleges and his future looks bleak so he's decided they're all going to stay trapped in this simulated high-school and be happy forever instead of facing all the disappointments of the world outside school.
Chloe asks how he's going to force them all to stay and in response Brendan calls another student over and with just a touch he freezes him into a living waxen statue just like the student Chloe found earlier. He then says he'll see her at lunch and nonchalantly walks away! Back at the real Smallville High Clark and Lana are picking up they're caps and gowns and Clark tells Lana he's going to miss seeing her every day, but Lana tells him she may not leave for college just yet. Clark tells her he's going to Central Kansas and the two seem pleased at the prospect of being around each other for another year. They also notice that Chloe and some others haven't shown to pick up their graduation gear and they get suspicious. Lex is talking on the phone and Jason walks in as he hangs up. Lex tells Jason he thought their business together was over and in answer Jason shoots Lex with a tranquilizer dart that knocks Lex out!
Pa Kent is already overworking himself trying to do Clark's chores too and Ma Kent tells him it's time for them to admit they can't run the farm without Clark helping out. Pa knows that Clark feels guilty about his having a weak heart and he doesn't want his pity. But Martha cautions Jonathan that he if he keeps up this pace all he'll do is possibly kill himself with another heart attack. Clark and Lana go to the school paper's office and find she never finished the last issue and left her cell phone there too so now they're positive something's wrong. Lex wakes up in a cabin to discover both he and his father are the captives of Geneveive Teague and her son Jason. Genevieve knows that the elder Luthor has one of the three stones of power and she threatens to kill Lex unless his father tells her where the stone is.
Clark goes to see Lois at the coffee shop and when he signs a girl's yearbook for her he notices that everyone on the "Most Likely To..." page never picked up their graduation gowns. As Lana is leaving school Brendan walks over to her car and when she signs his yearbook he uses the moment to touch her and freeze her making her his latest captive for his simulated high-school! Lana is awoken in the fake school and Chloe tells her what's going on after Brendan leaves. Then another of the captives tells Chloe she told him that Chloe has a crush on him and Chloe tells Lois she's playing him in the hope of making an escape. Back at the cabin, Jason uses a red hot fireplace poker on Lex to try and torture the stone's location out of the Luthors and finally Lionel tells the Teagues he gave the stone to Lana for safekeeping.
Jason wants to rush off and find Lana but his mother convinces him he's become too close to Lana and she leaves to find her and the stone. But before she goes, Lionel reminds her that Lana is the ancestor of the witch who vowed to destroy her as her family had Lana's ancestor burned at the stake. Clark and Lois search Brendan's office at school and they turn up a viewgraph of the factory with the school built inside it and head for there to hopefully find the captive students. Brendan explains to Chloe that he forced his father to make the fake school or he'd use his power on his parents and as he explains one of the students hits him and they all try to run for freedom. Brendan catches up to one of them and freezes her and then throws her frozen head down the stairs to shatter to pieces to frighten the rest into staying or they'll die!
Lex and Lionel use the fireplace poker to burn through his bonds and father and son flee through the woods. But Jason sees them and gives chase while shooting his gun at them. They split up and Lex manages to hit Jason with a tree branch and he loses his gun. Then Lex chases Jason to a cliff's edge and brandishes the branch as Jason stands at the cliff which has a fast moving river far below. Jason tries to tell Lex that the stones are all connected somehow to Clark and Lex has missed all the clues to that effect. But before he can say anymore, Lionel uses Jason's gun that he found to shoot Jason who falls hundreds of feet to the river below with a bullet in his chest!
Lois and Clark arrive at the factory and they each find separate ways inside. Brendan sneaks up on Lois and freezes her into a statue while Clark finds Chloe and other students frozen too. He confronts Brendan and when Brendan tries to use his power on Clark it doesn't work and Brendan starts to freeze instead, but with his last act he pushes Lana over to shatter her. Clark's super-speed prevents that and as Brendan falls off the staircase his body shatters into a thousand pieces and all the students and Lois are freed from his strange power. We'll never know where his odd powers came from, but their menace is finished with Brendan's death. That night Pa Kent confides in Clark that he had a chance to go to Metropolis University too but gave it up to stay on the farm and he doesn't want the same thing to happen to Clark as he'd feel like a bad father. Clark explains that it's just his way of showing that he's his father's good son.
The last long day of school is finally over and as Clark, Chloe, and Lana leave they all fell regret the fact they'll be separated for a while now. Lana explains she's staying for a year in Smallville and Clark confides he is going to Central Kansas so they won't be as far apart as they think but leaving high school for the rest of the world is daunting nonetheless. But as the three walk away hand in hand we know that no matter where they are physically, their hearts will always be close to each other.

Our Story:
Lana walks into her apartment only to be confronted at gunpoint by Genevieve Teague demanding the kryptonian stone of power that she knows Lana has. When Lana produces it Genevieve is distracted and Lana knocks the gun aside and the two get into a vicious fight throwing each other all over the room. Just when it seems that Mrs. Teague is about to best Lana, a glow comes into Lana's eyes and her ancient ancestor the witch Isabelle takes over knocking Genevieve to the ground. Then the possessed Lana takes the stone and drives it straight into the woman's chest killing her! The glow in her eyes and the tattoo that Lana received long ago in Paris vanish as the witch's centuries old vow to kill her persecutor's ancestor, Genevieve, is finally fulfilled. And standing in the doorway having witnessed all that just took place is Lex Luthor!
Clark is sleeping on the couch in the farm when he's awakened by the electrical appliances all going wild and Shelby the dog whimpering in fear trying to get out the door. Shelby and Clark exit the farmhouse and see a wild display of lights in the sky that at first look like the famous northern lights, but suddenly they all coalesce into a solid bright ball and Clark jumps up from the couch with Ma and Pa standing over him telling him he's had a bad dream and he was yelling "It's coming!", over and over. At that moment in space we see a huge meteor that suddenly bursts into hundreds of pieces, some small and some huge. And then we see that the fragments are all just outside the moon's orbit and are approaching earth. A countdown clock appears on the screen and it shows that there are only 15 hours until the meteor shower will strike our planet!
Lex takes Lana back to the mansion and as she washes the blood off her hands Lex calms her and tells her that Edward Teague, Genevieve's husband, is a powerful lawyer and will do whatever it takes to have Lana imprisoned for his wife's death, self-defense or not. He then tells Lana he's retained one of the best defense lawyers there is and when he arrives, then they will go to the authorities with Lana's story. But until then Lana must stay in the mansion and not talk to anyone. Lana then panics worrying where the stone is and Lex assures her he left it in her purse and wouldn't take it from her. One of Lex's security men calls Lex away and Lana nervously checks the stone which is still coated with Genevieve Teague's blood. Back at the Kent farm Ma and Pa are still trying to assure Clark it was just a bad dream when Lois comes downstairs and announces that she will be leaving the household as her father, General Sam Lane, is taking her to Europe to search for Lucy her errant sister. Lois is grateful to the Kents and tells them they are the parents she always wished she had haved.
Lex returns to Lana's apartment only to find his father Lionel Luthor has had the body removed and will not turn it over to the authorities covered in Lana's DNA if Lex will give him the stone he knows Lana has. An Earth radar station finally picks up the meteor storm as it pummels the moon in its passing and the countdown clock until striking the Earth is now down to 9 hours! Lana helps Clark to get his tie ready as he prepares for his graduation and she predicts Clark's future as settling in Smallville with Lana and having babies together. Clark suggests Lois think about becoming a journalist as when she worked on the high school paper she wrote well. The two jibe at each other, as usual, but agree that they will miss each other. Next we see the long awaited graduation ceremony has started and Clark and Chloe are fretting as there's still no sign of Lana.
Clark finally receives his diploma and then Lana's name is called but she doesn't appear. Suddenly sirens sound and Army troops appear announcing that a meteor shower is expected in three hours and everyone must get 50 miles away from Smallville by that time. Everyone starts for their homes to pack and flee the town at this terrible news. Clark convinces Chloe and Lois to leave together while he'll try to find Lana. Clark returns home and Ma and Pa Kent try to convince him to leave but he's sure this all is connected to him and tells them he must try to stop it. The countdown clock is now down to 2 hours and the meteors are streaking towards Earth! Clark takes his spaceship's key from its hidden spot and turns to find Lex who offers the Kent family a helicopter ride to safety, but Clark refuses. Lex also says his scientists have determined there is a inner chamber inside the Kawatche Indian caves and he asks Clark is he knows of it but Clark says no.
Clark takes the key to the caves and puts it in the slot in the inner chamber and asks his Kryptonian father for help. Jor-El tells him that it was the destiny he chose to reject which called for him to unite the three stones and his failure to do so may cause the Earth to be destroyed if he doesn't unite the stones at once. He also tells Clark that human blood was spilled on one of the stones and has awakened a great danger and the coming disaster could also destroy Clark. The countdown clock has reached 45 minutes and already some of the meteors are burning up in the atmosphere. Clark returns to the farm and tells his parents he must stay and try and stop this disaster. Ma and Pa tell Clark they love him and are proud of him and that their entire lives have led to this moment. Clark walks into the barn and finds Lana there and she tells Clark to take the stone she has as somehow she knows it was meant for him.
She tells Clark to trust her and that she loves him and then she kisses him. He feels the goodbye in her kiss and tells her he loves her too. Lana returns to the mansion as the countdown clock reaches 19 minutes and she calls Chloe telling her not to worry about her but Lex takes the phone from her and ends the call. He then tries to get Lana to give him the stone but Lana refuses. As the Kents are leaving the farm they are cut off by a truck and who climbs out holding a shotgun on them but Jason Teague! He's battered, bloody, and wounded from being shot off a cliff in the last episode and he shoots out the Kent's windshield demanding to know where Clark is. Only 14 minutes remain on the clock and Chloe and Lois are going against traffic trying to head into Smallville to hopefully find Lana. A soldier recognizes Lois as General Lane's daughter and while Lois distracts him, Chloe slips past him to head for Lex's mansion as she heard Lex's voice on the call Lana made to her.
Lionel Luthor is back at the mansion waiting for Lex and he insists he doesn't have one of the stones. Lex offers to take him to where the stone should go but Lionel stays adamant he hasn't got it. At that moment Clark inserts the second stone into the slot inside the caves and suddenly Lionel's body spasms as the otherworldly energy of the stone he is carrying courses through his body. Lex tries to remove the stone from his prone father but he's knocked across the room by the stone's energy. The stone finally dims but it's sent a shrill signal to Clark who races towards it as Lex has his men take his comatose father upstairs to a room where he intends to leave him, and he tells his father he's finally become the son he always wanted. Clark races into the mansion and rips the giant safe door off and throws it across the room like a toy. But as he enters the safe the artifacts Lex bought back from China light up kryptonite stones which knock Clark to the floor as soon as he grabs the third stone.
Jason threatens the Kents with death is they don't reveal where the stones are but they deny everything. Lana is being flown out on a helicopter by Lex who insists she give him the stone but she admits she no longer has it. As the chopper flies away Chloe enters the mansion and finds Clark dying from the kryptonite in the safe. She drags him away from the safe and he revives and speeds off just as Lex enters confronting Chloe demanding she tell him who ripped the door off and took the stone. He drags her out of the room insisting he'll find the stone, meteor shower or not. Jason is about to shoot Ma Kent when Pa rushes him and they struggle for the gun. They all fight with Jason regaining the weapon and just as he's about to shoot the Kents a meteor flies into the house blasting it to bits! Now meteors strike all over town causing mass chaos as people flee for their lives.
Clark saves a little boy from one by shielding him with his body, and then he then runs to the caves and finally inserts the third stone in the console inside the cave's inner chamber. As he does, Lana's chopper is struck from the sky by one of the meteors and it hurtles to the ground. Just as Lex drags Chloe into the caves insisting that she knows Clark has something to do with all this, the three stones have transformed into a blue pentagonal shaped gem which hovers in the air in front of Clark. Before Lex or Chloe can see anything, Clark grabs the gem and is enveloped by a bright light and finds himself somehow transported to an arctic field in the middle of nowhere! Lois stops her car on the outskirts of town and can only stare in shock and tears at the terrible devastation the meteor shower has wrought on Smallville.
An injured Lana awakens to find her chopper pilot dead and she drags herself to a nearby meteor crater's top. Looking into it she sees a huge black stone carved in the exact same shape as the gem Clark now holds! A light starts to come out of it, but we don't get to see what's causing it. Clark holds the gem and it floats out of his hand and points itself off in a direction away from him. He grabs the gem and throws it off in that direction with all his strength. As it flies away and fills the screen with its image, the picture fades and the words "To Be Continued" come into our sight!
