Our Story:
In deep space a spaceship is running from a fleet of ships blasting away at it. Aboard that ship is the evil god Darkseids general Steppenwolf and he tells Darkseid that he is under attack and that the forces of New Genesis were waiting for him. Darkseid tells him to die honorably by killing as many of his enemies as he can in the process and a moment later Steppenwolf screams and vanishes in the attack. Suddenly a holographic projection of Darkseid's son Orion appears and tells him he was responsible for the trap and then tells him he has a reminder for him in case he should try it again. A moment later a boom tube opens above Darkseids planet Apokolips and it transports the wreckage of the battle we witnessed and sends it crashing into Apokolips right on top of Darkseids palace laying waste to a huge section of the planet!
The Justice League members are talking in the Watchtower when alarms go off and suddenly Darkseid appears in front of them. Superman immediately attacks Darkseid and the other League members hold him back as Darkseid explains that his planet is under attack from Brainiac, the killer humanoid computer from Krypton. He asks for their help beacuse after Brainiac is done with Apokolips, he intends to attack Earth! After Darkseid leaves, Superman argues that Darkseid cannot be trusted but the League all agrees that Brainiac must be stopped in any case. Back on Apokolips Brainiac is on the attack and Darkseids forces are being decimated when the League suddenly appears to help.
Batman and Wonder Woman however have gone to New Genesis to seek their help against Brainiac. As they arrive on the planet a huge dinosaur sized creature bursts out from the ground and attacks them! Suddenly the beast is gassed into retreat by a person calling himself Forager. He then points to the sky showing Wonder Woman and Batman the huge floating city where the New Gods live. As the pair flies to the city, Superman and the rest of the League on Apokolips are finding out that Brainiacs forcefields are proving to be too strong for them to penetrate. Back on New Genesis, a New God calling himself Lightray taunts Wonder Woman into a race and when she and Batman catch him, Orion appears and stops them.
When Superman tears an opening in Brainiacs forcefield, Darkseids weapons blast his ship while Superman and Brainiac fight hand to hand. Teleporting away from the battle at this turn of events, Brainiac flees into space in his ship while Superman and the League give chase in their ship, the Javelin 7. They follow Brainiac into a distant asteroid field where he lands inside a giant asteroid shaped like his head. Suddenly the Javelin 7 is caught in an irresistable tractor beam and pulled into Brainiacs headquarters through a huge crater. As they disappear into the huge complex, the Justice League prepares for a fight to the death!
Their ship lands inside Brainiacs headquarters and Superman, Hawkgirl and the Martian Manhunter all board a floating platform which takes them to Brainiac. Brainiac offers Superman a chance to join him and rule the galaxy as his fellow Kryptonian and Superman angrily refuses. At that, floating weapons appear and blaze away at the heroes. While Superman and J'onn Jonnz disable the weapons, Hawkgirl uses her mace to smash Brainiac to pieces. But then a hundred more Brainiacs appear and begin a new attack! Back on New Genesis Highfather, the leader of the New Gods, is instructing young people when Orion appears with Batman and Wonder Woman. Orion asks Highfather to gather an army to attack Darkseid and finish his menace once and for all but his request is denied.
The three Justice League members are still battling the multiple Brainiacs when Darkseid suddenly appears and helps Brainiac to defeat the Justice League trio. It seems this has all been a trap to get Superman and in exchange Brainiac will not destroy Apokolips. On New Genesis, Orion decides he can wait no more and boom tubes away to fight Darkseid as Batmam and Wonder Woman follow him. Brainiac explains to Darkseid that he cannot evolve any further beyond his current form unless he uses Supermans Kryptonian DNA to do so. Superman screams in pain as Brainiacs machines begin to work on him. Then treacherous Darkseid enters a virus into Brainiacs systems which allows him to take control of Brainiac!
As Hawkgirl and the Martian Manhunter recover, Darkseid tells Brainiac that he intends to use Brainiacs abilities to destroy the entire galaxy and then he will rebuild it in his twisted vision of order. He activates Brainiacs machinery and the terrible destructive power starts to tear New Genesis and everything else apart. Then Orion boom tubes into Brainiacs headquarters with Batman and Wonder Woman and with J'onn and Hawkgirl they all attack Darkseid who uses the mutiple Brainiacs to fight them. Escape pods fly from the floating city on New Genesis as the great city shatters and falls. As the Justice League tries to free Superman while under attack, Orion and Darksied fight each other. Father and estranged son battle as Brainiacs machines build towards the overload that threaten to destroy everything!
Orion falls from Darkseids blows just as a now freed Superman attacks him and takes up the fight. Superman smashes Darkseids boom tube device and tells him he intends to make sure that Darkseid will blow up with Brainiacs headquarters. Batman meanwhile smashes Brainiacs controls which saves the galaxy from peril, but the machinery is about to blow and blast the asteroid they're on to pieces. As the Justice League boards the Javelin 7 to escape, Batman races to find Superman before he dies with Darkseid on the doomed asteroid. Darkseid is pummeling Superman, but Superman refuses to give up just as Batman arrives.
Superman drops Darkseid with a tremendous punch, and Batman grabs Orions boom tube activator to carry Supermman, Orion, and himself to safety. Darkseid looks up to see them disappear just as the asteroid varporizes in a huge explosion. As they land on New Genesis, Batman tells Superman that not even Darkseid could have survived such a blast but Superman is skeptical that the evil god is finally gone. They meet with Highfather just as the other New Gods appear and tell him that Forager took them to safety underground during the catastrophe. Highfather thanks Forager for their salvation. And the Justice League can finally rest now that the menace of Darkseid and Brainiac has been defeated!

Our Story:
Lex Luthor is battling Hawkgirl in his armored suit over the skies of Metropolis. The two volley blows back and forth until suddenly Lex gets the upper hand and is about to destroy Hawkgirl when Superman arrives and blocks his blast and attacks Lex anew. Using his great strength and heat vision, Superman damages Lex's armor so badly that Lex must flee or be captured. He blasts a nearby cruise ship causing Hawkgirl and Superman to go to its rescue while he flies away. He flies to Lexcorp to his old office and asks Mercy Graves for help. Mercy has taken over his Lex's position in Lexcorp and is running the company well.
Lex asks where he can find Professor Ivo to help repair his armor and Mercy tells Lex he's hiding out at his mountain retreat and Lex leaves to find him. When Lex arrives at the retreat however he finds the Professor has suddenly died and he also finds a ten-foot tall android the Professor made before he died. Superman asks J'onn J'onzz to try scanning the entire city mentally to locate Lex's presence if he can. Although J'onn has never used his telepathy on such a wide scale before he agrees to try and flies off. But when he attempts the scan, he is bombarded with all the thoughts both good and bad of the city's people and the experience is too much for J'onn and he flies away in great pain.
Lex meanwhile has convinced the android, called Amazo, that he is on the side of good and that Amazo must steal fuel for him to power his armor or he will die like the professor. Amazo goes to a reactor site in the city and breaks in and manages to steal a fuel rod from the reactor and leave. But Hawkgirl arrives and attacks Amazo with her electrical mace. Suddenly Amazo scans Hakwgirl and then he grows wings just like hers and a mace like hers grows right from his body! He overpowers Hawkgirl and leaves before she can recover. Lex studies Ivo's plans and when he sees Amazo has adapted Hawkgirls powers, he tells the android that his fortune was stolen from him by the Justice League, and he needs Amazo to destroy them so he can stop their "evil" plans.
Batman and Superman contact Mercy at Lexcorp and she agrees to let them know if Lex contacts her, but when they leave they remain unconvinced she's telling the truth. J'onn has fled to the forest outside the city and is hurt badly by the many personal and selfish thoughts of the people he scanned. He reverts to his original Martian form and stays in the woods. In Metropolis, Wonder Woman, Hakgirl, and the Flash meet up with Amazo who quickly adapts all their powers and battles them to a standstill. When Green Lantern arrives Amazo adapts his ring's powers also and is beating the League members badly using all their combined powers.
Batman investigates and finds out that Mercy has been calling Ivo's number and they know that Luthor would seek out his help. Suddenly Green Lantern calls them and tells them of their fight with Amazo. Despite Green Lantern warning him not to come, Superman flies in and fights the android who immediately copies his powers and starts to beat Superman using his own abilities. They fight fiercely until Batman takes Kryptonite from his utility belt and uses it against Amazo who must run away as he has adapted Superman's weakness to the substance. The League splits up to search for both Amazo and Luthor. Superman, Flash and Green Lantern go to Ivo's retreat where Lex has been visited by Mercy who helps him pack his armor and escape. When the three League menbers arrive, a bomb explodes catching the lab on fire. Green lantern puts the fire out and Flash discovers the files detailing Amazo's powers, and they also find Ivo's body in the rubble.
In the forest, a little girl has become lost and the search party looking for her is observed by J'onn who remains in hiding. Lex has again convinced Amazo, who has begun to doubt Lex's intentions, that the Justice League is out to kill him and hearing that, Amazo flies off to finish the League once and for all. J'onn reads the search party members thoughts and hearing their selfless intent for the good of the child, is convinced that people aren't all bad and selfish and are worth fighting for after all. Lex shows Mercy that the professor built a kill switch that will destroy Amazo should he become uncontrollable. She tells Lex she doesn't want to live a criminal life anymore but Lex laughs her off.
J'onn has found the little lost girl and returns her to the search party who shower him with gratitude. He flies back to the city with his spirits renewed for the fight against evil. And it's just in time as Luthor and Amazo have ganged up on the League and are winning. Then J'onn flies in and willingly lets Amazo adapt his powers including his telepathy. He then tells Amazo to read Luthors mind and when he does Amazo finds out about Lex's duplicity. Lex uses the kill switch, but finds that Amazo's powers have adapted him beyond destruction through the professsors device. Amazo stops fighting and then lets the League watch as he tears into Luthor dismantling his battle armor. Then he tells them he adapted beyond anything on the planet and flies away swearing to never return. And when Lex later calls Mercy for Lexcorp lawyers and Doctors to help in his his legal and medical battles, Mercy shows she's through with Lex by hanging up on him when he calls!

John Dee is the convicts name, and and he is participating voluntarily in experiments with a machine a scientist has developed that seems to give John temporary E.S.P. as John "sees" every hidden card the doctor asks him to identify in a test. But then the guard comes with bad news for John; his parole has been refused.
But John gets the chance he's looking for when he gets into the lab during a riot in the prison. He uses the machine on himself at full power in a desperate attempt to gain permanent mental powers. In the Watchtower, Batman gets the alert that super-powered crminials have broken out of the prison also! Volcana and Firefly are giving the Metropolis police a bad time when Green Lantern and Batman arrive and together they beat the two super-crooks back into captivity. When they return them to prison it's discovered that John Dee has vanished from the prison, leaving behind now-mindless guards. He has trailed his ex-wife, Penny, to her house where she now lives with her new boyfriend.
Once there he confronts Penny who we see is dreaming in bed acutally. John Dee changes in front of her to a skeletal face, blue garbed maniac. As her boyfriend tries to awaken her, Penny screams in fear at what's happening in her mind. Meanwhile, Hawkgirl is fighting the escaped criminal Luminous, when suddenly she is trapped inside an ever-shrinking box. Just before it crushes her, Superman tears into the box freeing her. Grundy and Copperhead are on the run until they meet the police and then J'onn J'onnz and Flash arrive. J'onn and Grundy fight while Flash corners Luminous who fights him with solid light versions of himself.
But Superman's vision powers spot the real Luminous and once Hawkgirl kayos him, his light-made doppelgangers disappear. While Grundy distracts Superman, Copperhead pounces on Hawkgirl threatening a lethal bite from him if she doesn't fly him to safety. In response, she flies straight up 40 stories explaining to Copperhead if he bites her now he'll die from the resulting fall. And Grundy is proving to be trouble too as he fights back both J'onn and Superman with his great strength. But they jump the pale behemoth and throw him miles away into the river ending his threat. Green Lantern tells Copperhead to surrender before he gets hurt and Hawkgirl seals the deal with a hard right that captures the last criminal and they're hauled back to prison.
Batman goes to investigate Penny's dream coma as he feels Dee presents a threat and J'onn J'onnz agrees to search her dream telepathically. As they start, we see Hawkgirl and Flash have fallen asleep in the Watchtower, while Superman is at home getting some much needed sleep. And as they sleep, we hear Dee, who is now calling himself Dr. Destiny, is laughing while they sleep! As he dreams Flash is caught in a world where he's run so fast that the whole world is like a museum wih everyone a statue in it. Dr. Destiny taunts the Flash telling him he'll never wake up from this bad dream. As Flash and and Hawkgirl sleep, they can't hear Batman calling them about what they've learned. He also tries to warn Superman but he's already dreaming a nightmare that his heat vision has gone wild and killed Lois.
Green Lantern is dreaming that he's feared by all his old friends and neighbors. Destiny appears and though Lantern fights it, Dr.Destiny has him trapped. J'onn tries to awaken the sleeping members, while Batman hunts for Dee. Hawkgirl dreams that Dr. Destiny has tied her wings and caused her to fall from the skies into her grave. J'onn calls Batman telling him that Destiny has killed Penny through her dreams, and that he'll have to enter the Leagues' fallen members dreams to save them now. While he dreams his out-of-control powers have destoyed Metropolis, Superman is visited by J'onn who snaps Superman back to reality. Our Story:
Four members of the Green Lantern Corps have fallen into a trap in space. An invasion force of tremendous size and strength has them cornered on an asteroid and suddenly two of them are killed by the invaders. As the remaining two, Katma and Kilowog, fight to stay alive they are approached by warriors of the force that wield a great power manifested with a bright white light that is even more powerful then the Lanterns emerald energy. Katma sends Kilowog off to summon help as she bravely holds off the advancing warriors. As he flies away, Kilowog sees Katma fall in great burst of energy fired by the soldiers. All he can do is flee and hope to come back to save her at another time.
Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and J'onn J'onnz are on the Watchtower when they see Kilowog speeding towards a crash-landing on Earth. They find him and he tells them that the invaders are known as the Legion of the Third Eye, and that he needs their help to stop them and their leader Despero and also to help save Katma. Hearing her name, Green Lantern flies off into space alone to save his one-time mentor in the Green Lantern Corps. As the trio helps to heal Kilowog from his injuries, John flies to the invaders planet where he finds one of the fin-headed inhabitants being terrorized by Desperos soldiers and he saves the man who runs away despite John helping him.
John searches for and finds Katma's ring in her room but no sign of her. Then he's blasted from behind by Desperos men and taken prisoner. Back on Earth, the League trio and Kilowog manage to find John's power battery and Kilowog uses it to recharge his ring so he may take them all to Kalanor to hopefully stop Despero. John is taken before Despero who actually has a third eye he says was the reason he was driven away from the city where he was given his power by the flame of Pitar. He shows John a huge column of white fire and when John scoffs at him, he and Green Lantern have a battle of white energy against green. A fight in which John loses and then he is thrown into the column of fire by none other then Katma who is now a priestess for Despero!
But it turns out that Katma is working undercover with the resistance forces opposed to Despero. They use a matter transporter to pluck John from the white fire before it consumes him. He stays and works with the underground fighters while Katma tries to find out Desperos final plans for conquest. Despero uses the flame of Pitar and infuses it in thousands of his warriors who he then sends flying off into space to begin his plan to conquer the universe. As the white emblazoned force flies off into the sky, it seems that nothing will stop Despero now!
Without warning Despero's forces break into the reistance camp and drive them into a corner where all looks lost until the League members and Kilowog arrive and turn the course of the battle giving them time to escape and hide in the citys catacombs. But John's ring stopped working during the battle and it seems he's lost the will to use it after being beaten by Despero. Katma starts to retrain John in the mental subtleties it takes to use the power ring in the hopes he'll regain his power. J'onn J'onnz finds old tablets underground that explain that the desert planet once flourished with life and he sees a great tree drawn on the tablets that symbolizes this. He reasons from the drawings that Despero is using the flame to power his third eye and his warriors, and Kilowog builds a device that may cut off Desperos power source.
Just as Kilowog finishes building the machine, Desperos forces find them in the catacombs and John, Katma, and Hawkgirl are captured. Flash, J'onn, and Kilowog are forced to flee with the device in a last ditch effort to stop the powerful Despero. Despero uses the Flame of Pitar through his third eye to enslave Katma and turn her into one of his soldiers. He flaunts her and John's power rings in front of them to show how futile it is to resist him. But when Despero tries to enslave Hawkgirl, John uses the strength of his will to fly his ring onto his finger and attack Despero in a blaze of green energy. As the two battle, J'onn, Flash, and Kilowog reach the Flame of Pitar in the palace. Before they use the machine to douse the flame however, J'onn senses that the flame wants to mentally link with him.
The flame turns out to be peaceful in nature and as Despero and Green Lantern fight, it suddenly changes into a great tree which sends out power renewing the planet's ecosystem regreening the land with grass and trees. The power then reaches out through space to change all the invaders into trees also ending their menace. Then the soul of Pitar finally touches Despero and traps him in the bole of the tree the flame has now turned into. It seems Despero corrupted the flame and now its peaceful intentions have been reinstated by contact with J'onns mind. The danger of Despero is ended forever and Kalanor is free to pursue its rightful destiny. Katma and John Stewart bid each other fond farewells and John flies the League members back to Earth with his rings power fueled by the now renewed strength of will he fought so gallantly to regain.

Superman is having dinner with Lois and she's arguing that the totalitarian state the world's now under is wrong but Superman is unconvinced.
He's interrupted by a call from Batman summoning the group to the Batcave where he shows them what he's discovered. He's invented a device which shows and allows access to alternate dimensions and he's found ours where the heros call themselves the Justice League unlike this group known as the Justice Lords. He sees them battling our Lex Luthor in his green armor and he tells them he thinks they should invade our dimension and instill the same kind of system where their might makes all right, and the Justice Lords agree to do so.
The Justice Lords J'onn J'onnz lures the Justice League back to his world under the pretext that the alternate dimensions are collapsing and he needs them to come to their dimension. When they travel through the portal the League finds themselves in a cell where they're all stunned into helplessness. But Hawkgirl will not succumb and is about to escape when the Justice Lord Green Lantern nearly kills her with his ring to stop her and she's hospitalized while the rest of the League is put into restraints. On our world a huge creature has crashed to Earth like a meteor. Calling himself Doomsday, the 10-foot tall grey behemoth is running rampant in a frenzy of destruction. The authorities all fall back before his onslaught and can only watch as he runs amok.
Suddenly the Justice Lords transport themselves to our dimension and attack the huge beast. A tremendous battle follows in which the heroes all start to fall before Doomsdays tremendous power. Then Superman and Doomsday go one on one and the battle rages to an even greater level. The grey titan seems about to kill Superman he beats him so badly, but then Superman uses his heat vision to literally lobotomize Doomsday leaving him a mindless and beaten foe. Then the news media runs in praising Superman for doing what he had to do, playing right into the Justice Lords plan!
While the Justice Lords fortify the Watchtower in our dimension into an armed fortress like there own, their Batman monitors the captive Justice League in a secure facility back in their home dimension. Suddenly the Flash's monitors scream in alarm at the fact his heart has stopped beating! Rushing to check on him, Batman loosens Flash's bonds to examine him. But the Flash has accelerated his heartbeat to the point of undetectability to feign death, and he pummels the Justice Lord Batman into unconsciousness and locks him up in his own prison. Then he frees the rest of the League who ready themselves to battle the Justice Lords while Batman searches for the portal to send the Justice League home.
Searching for Hawkgirl before they can return home, the League flies to Arkham Asylum to free her. There they find all the former villians have been lobotomized into senslessness by Superman as Doomsday was. Once they get inside however, they're detected to be intruders and a cadre of Justice Lord Superman robots created as guards are set loose to fight and stop them. Meanwhile Batman has found the dimensional portal in this dimensions Batcave, but the Justice Lord Batman is waiting for him there to stop him. He convinces our Batman to go along with him to see how things have changed for the better in this dimension. As they ride in the Batmobile together they see a man being arrested for complaining about being overcharged for a dinner bill and our Batman points out that the total lack of crime of any kind is not worth the loss of all personal freedom. And then he tells the Justice Lord Batman how their dead parents would be ashamed of his actions, and that more then anything sways the Justice Lord Batman to the side of right.
After the League destroys the Superman robots and frees Hawkgirl who's recovering from her wounds, the Justice Lord Batman sends them back to their home dimension to stop the rest of the Justice Lords. There they find the Justice Lords and a great fight follows in which each menber battles their other-dimensional counterpart. The fight seems to be locked in a hopeless stalemate until Superman appears with Lex Luthor at his side! Lex has built a power disruptor and he uses it on each member of the Justice Lords robbing them of their abilities. After they each fall to Lex and his device, they are taken into custody. Then Lex turns over the device to the Justice League Superman who tells about how he arranged to have Lex fully pardoned for all his crimes if he helped them stop the Justice Lords. Afterwards at a press conference, Lex Luthor announces he will go into politics instead of returning to the business world. Will his decision lead our dimension to the same fate as the Justice Lords? Only time will tell!

Our Story:
A patrol of soldiers is in a foreign nation searching for a dictator on the run from the authorities. They trace him to a cave in the desert but they're being followed by a shadowy figure carrying a sword and a great ruby gem with him. They enter the cave but instead of the dictator they find a dark gem in the middle of the cave which one of the soldiers tries to take. Suddenly the shadowy figure appears and he's an elderly warrior calling himself Mophir who attacks the soldiers trying to prevent them from taking the dark gem but they overpower him and one soldier picks up the gem shard. Suddenly he starts humming a strange tune and turns on his fellow soldiers attacking them. He throws a grenade in the cave entrance trapping the rest of the squad inside while he gets into their humvee with its waiting driver and takes off leaving them there!
The Flash has started endorsing a energy bar on TV and it gets the attention of a media personality called "Glorious Godfrey" who uses it to start a character assassination campaign on the Justice League much to the chagrin of Flash's fellow league members. Flash appears on Godfrey's show to defend himself but Godfrey twists everything he says around and it only worsens matters. Meanwhile Mophir starts tracking the soldier who took the dark gem as he claims it will cause the end of the world. That soldier has found out our nation has nuclear weapons which can kill millions so he decides he must obtain such a weapon.
Godfrey continues his agenda against the Justice League whipping up a public fervor over the heros. On a military test range a new device called an anti-fusion device is about to be tested to see if it can really stop an atomic explosion. Suddenly the soldier who stole the dark gem crashes onto the base and heads straight for the atomic bomb that's being used. He's stopped by sentries before he can reach the bomb and taken in to be questioned. The Flash has already tired of show business and runs off the set of his latest commercial while his agent decides to give Godfrey a call about the incident and Godfrey uses the event to whip up more anti-hero fever. A General has taken the dark gem from the errant soldier and now he's fallen under the dark gems evil power. He sees Godfrey on TV claiming the Justice League's powerful enough to destroy the world and decides to acquire their power to do just that.
The General has put on a costume and calling himself "Eclipso" he attacks the city power plant causing a huge fire which Flash and Green Lantern extinguish while Wonder Woman captures Eclipso and takes the dark gem from him. But now she falls under its influence and the gem has indeed gotten a more powerful weapon to use in the mighty Amazon! The General is accused of stealing the now missing anti-fusion device but he can't remember anything he did while under the gems power. Wonder Woman hears him mention the device could be used for killing a stars fusion and she leaves to use it for that purpose but she's attacked outside by Mophir who uses his red gems power to break the evil gems spell on her. Green Lantern carries her away while Flash questions Mophir about the dark gem.
It seems centuries ago there was a war between man and a race of serpent people. When it appeared man was winning the war, the last of the serpent people infused their evil spirits into the dark gem during an eclipse. Now whoever falls under the spell of the gem is driven to destroy the race of man in revenge for the serpent race. But the ruby gem or a very bright light can break the evil gems spell so Flash takes it from Mophir to use against the gems next victim. He tests each member of the League but when he tries to shine the gem on Green Lantern the league is suddenly attacked by the emerald warrior who is the latest slave of the gem. Hawkgirl manages to wrest the gem away from Green Lantern and smashes it with her mace. But the shards of the gem then lodge in all the Justice League members except Flash who is now faced with trying to stop the most powerful heros on Earth who are now on the side of evil!
While the Flash tries to stop the evil League members from killing him, Green Lantern takes the stolen anti-fusion device and launches it into the sun. It starts to shut down the suns power and panic ensues on Earth. When the Flash tries to use the red gem to break the dark gems power, it ends up being smashed by the evil League. Flash races to find a way to stop the end of mankind while the people of Earth who turned on the Justice League now hope that they are the ones who can save them as our sun dies. Flash hooks up a super-powerful spotlight using the Watchtowers generators and when he flashes the ultra-bright light on the League they're freed from the dark gems power. Then Green Lantern uses his ring to create a roadway in space for Flash to carry a wormhole generator, that the Leagues spaceship the Javelin 7 uses to travel through space, to the sun which will siphon the anti-fusion machines power away from Sol.
As the Flash is the only one who can reach the sun in time he runs his fastest race ever as the sun slowly dies, and reaching our sun he hurls the wormhole generator into the star. The gamble works and the dark gems power is carried away and the sun shines brightly once again to the cheers of a grateful Earth. With public sentiment back on the heros side, Glorious Godfrey falls into disfavor and his influence on the people is now gone. When endorsement deals are offered to the Flash again, he decides from now on that he'll stay clear of show business, as stopping super-villains is much safer work.

"The Terror Beyond" (Parts 1 & 2)

Written By: Dwayne McDuffie
Directed By: Butch Lukic
Producers: Rich Fogel, Glen Murakami, Bruce Timm, James Tucker
Aired in the U.S.A.: 11.15.03

Roles & Actors this episode:
Aquaman: Scott Rummell
Commander: William Hootkins
Dr. Fate: Oded Fehr
Green Lantern: Phil LaMar
Hawkgirl: Maria Canals
Ichthultu: Rob Zombie
Inza: Jennifer Hale
Mera: Kristen Bauer
Solomon Grundy: Mark Hammill
Soldier: Bruce Timm
Superman: George Newbern
Technician: Sean Donnellan
Wonder Woman: Susan Eisenberg

Our Story:
A military task force is stalking Solomon Grundy and has him cornered at the docks on the Metropolis waterfront. Grundy's about to fall to the powerful tank's energy cannons, when out from the water riding a Sea Dragon comes Aquaman to rescue the grey behemoth. Grundy jumps on the sea creature's back and rides away leaving stunned troops behind. Next we see the tower of Dr. Fate in Salem Massachusetts where Aquaman has taken Grundy, and inside it Dr. Fate is casting a spell of revelation to determine Grundy's origins. It seems the pale skinned giant was once a gangster who was double-crossed by fellow criminals and killed. One of the crooks put a curse on the dead man and then they tossed his body into a mystical swamp. The weird magic energies of the swamp and the curse combined to resurrect the former crook as the giant powerful berzerker we know as Solomon Grundy. He is literally a walking dead man without a soul, powered by magic and rage.
It turns out that Dr. Fate is going to cast a spell that needs a dead man and the Trident of Poseiden which Aquaman has. Grundy agrees to help if Dr. Fate will restore Grundy's soul to him. Meanwhile Hawkgirl, Superman, and Wonder Woman have found out that Aquaman helped Grundy escape. They arrive at the waterfront only to be attacked by a giant sea creature that is even able to hurt Superman. They drive the beast back into the sea and follow it to Atlantis where they ask to see Aquaman. Queen Mera greets them but denies any involvement with the giant beast that attacked them. She tells them Aquaman is with Dr. Fate and they decide to visit him. Hawkgirl's mace manages to break open the walls of Fate's tower and they enter. Dr. Fate is casting the spell when the League members reach he and Aquaman and Grundy.
Thinking Dr. Fate is harming them with the spell, the League members attack but Inza keeps them away with a force spell. Then Hawkgirls mace once again proves to be effective against Fate's magic and she goes after him while Wonder Woman fights Aquaman and Superman fights Grundy. Superman beats Grundy after a tremendous battle and Wonder Woman fights Aquaman well until he drags her underwater knocking her out. Then Hawkgirls mace is about to strike down Dr. fate when Superman orders them all to stop fighting until they find out what Fate was up to. Suddenly the air in Fate's tower is torn apart and above the heros floats a giant black glowing skull with red eyes and writhing tentacles. And Dr. Fate tells them he was trying to stop the arrival of this very creature but now it's too late!
The thing is called Ichthultu and Fate flies to attack it but again Hawkgirls mace added to his power is the only reason it works, and they both manage to drive the demon away for a short while before it will return again. It is the greatest of the beings known as "The Old Ones", extra-dimensional titans that almost destroyed Atlantis when it was an island above the sea. King Poseidon used all Earth's magics focused through his Trident to banish the beasts away centuries ago, but it caused Atlantis to be lost beneath the oceans forever. Now Ichthultu has returned, and the gateway between his dimension and ours has broken and thousands of other-dimensional menaces now are arriving on Earth. Only Fate completing the spell he started earlier will close the doorway again. But The League objects to the torture it costs Grundy during the spell, so they must confront the creature in its own realm instead.
Dr. Fate sends them to Ichthultu's climes but Aquaman won't go and returns to defend Atlantis from the invasion of huge beasts appearing under the sea. He defends Atlantis well with the Trident but finally seems to fall to the invaders. Hawkgirl reveals that thousands of years ago her ancestor Thanagarians actually worshipped the Old Ones and that's why her mace and she are effective against Ichthultu's magic as their whole culture derived from their worship of the creatures. As the gateway between our worlds weakens they see thousands of monsters crossing to our world and Superman and Wonder Woman go to stop the invasion while Fate, Grundy, and Hawkgirl go on to face Ichthultu without them. They stop down the road when Ichtultu appears above them and shows them he's so vast that they are walking on his tentacles right towards their doom!
Superman and Wonder Woman cannot stop the invading creatures as there are too many, but suddenly Aquaman bursts through the gateway with the Trident of Poseidon blazing away at the creatures driving them back and then sealing the breach with its powerful magic. They help the rest of the heros who are fighting off Ichthultu's army while Grundy actually enters the vast monsters brain and is tearing him apart from inside! Just as Hawkgirl finds Grundy inside Ichthultu, Grundy is stabbed and actually begins to die from the monsters poison! She finishes killing Ichthultu by releasing the souls he took over the centuries, but nothing can save Grundy and he dies before Hawkgirl's eyes. The strange undead Grundy is finally really gone and he is buried near the swamp that birthed him, his real and final rest finally won after all these years.

He's picked up by Giganta who takes him to a mountain hideout where Sinestro, Killer Frost, and the Parasite are waiting for their leader to join them. Giganta tells the Shade that they call themselves the "Secret Society", and then their leader enters the room. And he's the super-intelligent gorilla the League's tangled with before, Grodd! He tells Shade he's using a spy camera to keep tabs on the League and he intends to wipe them out for good.
The League meanwhile is taking Green Lantern's suggestion that they train together to become a more efficient fighting group. They're on a test range in a remote desert town trying to hone their powers and develop better teamwork together. As they work, the Secret Society travels to the island home of world famous collector Morgan Edge to rob a very special treasure, their last member. Using their powers to compliment each other, the Society gets past Edge's security forces easily. Then they free from several cannisters the final member of their new team, Clayface; the man-creature made from living mallaeble clay!
But the Justice League is finding they're getting into arguments and getting worse as a team no matter how hard they seem to work at it. Then Batman hears about Clayface's escape and tracks him to a plant that has chemicals he'd need to try and return himself to normalcy. But when he corners Clayface, the rest of the Secret Society appears and attacks Batman. Then suddenly the wall behind Batman disappears in the glow of Green Lanterns ring and the Justice League rushes in to back him up! But working better as a team, the Society actually bests the League in battle and leaves them demoralized badly. They bicker and argue so much that they all suddenly decide to go their separate ways and disband the Justice League!
Grodd explains that for months he's been using his mental powers to build up resentment amongst the Justice League members. That resentment has finally boiled over into their disbanding without them realizing they're being manipulated by Grodd. Then Grodd lays a trap for the Flash which also nets him Batman who answered Flash's call for help to fight off the Society. Then the rest of the League, except for Green Lantern who disables Grodd's spy cam and is using it to trace Grodd, is lured to their testing range where their own devices and lack of teamwork against the Scoiety, due to Grodd's mental manipulations, are used to capture them. Green Lantern tries to free the League but he too is captured with the entire team now helpless before the Secret Society!
Grodd interrupts half time at a football game in Gotham City to present the execution of the Justice League! He intends to cement their power once and for all in the public's eyes with this terrible deed. But it turns out that J'onn J'onnz has been using his power to imitate Clayface and he frees the League before they can be killed. Green Lantern informs the League of Grodd having manipulated their minds and they fight together as a team this time. Good and evil clash in front of thousands who root the League on against the villains. Fighting together this time, the League manages to best the Secret Society using the teamwork that made them world famous. But they must remember the lesson they've learned and use it to realize that working together there is very little we cannot accomplish. But divided we will certainly fall if we don't learn to work together for the common good.

Our Story:
Kalibak, Livewire, Metallo, Toyman, and Weather Wizard are all former foes of Superman who he defeated. Now they've banned together to swear revenge against the Man of Steel and they won't rest until Superman is dead! They stage an attack on the Daily Planet knowing Superman will come to fight them, and Toyman makes a giant toy robot with all too lethal weapons just for the occasion. But it's the Justice League who shows up and each side is holding it's own in the struggle when Superman does arrive and Toyman starts shooting with his robot's energy cannon. When he sees an energy blast about to kill Batman and Wonder Woman, Superman dives in front of them taking the lethal charge himself. With a scream suddenly Superman is atomized and vanishes in front of everyone! All combat ceases while the entire world gasps in horror at seeing Superman slain before their eyes. Then Wonder Woman smashes the robot and only the Flash invoking Superman's memory stops her from killing Toyman.
A funeral service is held for Superman with superheroes and people lining the streets as the world mourns losing it's greatest hero. But Batman refuses to believe Superman is dead and continues to investigate the matter. Meanwhile the League needs a new member to replace the loss of Superman and they are shocked when Lobo shows up to take the position. The intergalatic party man and brawling machine is not exactly what they had in mind but Lobo won't take no for an answer! And they may have no choice as the world's super-villains have gone amok due to Superman being gone and they attack Metropolis looting and creating havoc. The League answers the call and bests the villains but due to Lobo, things are a lot more destructive during the fight. The Man of Steel is sorely missed now, but then we see what looks like a alien planet and lying on it under a section of a destroyed car lies none other then Superman!
The sun in this place is red so Superman's power aren't working, but he's picking up a Justice League signal beacon so he decides to use one of the cars that was transported to this strange place to trace the signal. As he travels he's hunted by a pack of what look to be giant wolf-like creatures so he makes himself a sword and uses it and a huge hammer he found in the cars trunk to battle the beasts whenever he stops to rest. When he finally runs out of gas he's forced to kill the beast leader and he assumes control of the rest of the animals using them to pull a sled he now crosses the land in. Finally he tracks the signal to what seems to be the Watchtower after it crashed to Earth. He enters it and to his shock inside he finds Vandal Savage the immortal villain!
Savage explains how this is Earth thousands of years in the future after he defeated all the heroes and ended up killing all life on the planet. Toyman's energy cannon didn't kill Superman; it hurled him into the future on Earth. Savage's now living there as self-imposed punishment for his crime with no one to talk to or be with, and he regrets what he's done but doesn't have any way to make up for it. When Superman discovers Savage has been working on a time machine, he convinces him to finish it so that Superman can travel back in time and hopefully stop him from taking over the world and destroying it in the process. The two one-time enemies now work together to get the machine working and they succeed. When Superman vanishes from Savage's sight, he is sent back into time just as Lobo is "helping" the League to round up the riotous super-criminals. The League members and the world are overjoyed to welcome the first and best of them back to the fold. Meanwhile far in the future, Vandal Savage stands amidst the ruins of Metropolis wondering if his and Superman's efforts were in vain. Suddenly he starts to vanish, and as he does Savage sees a newly rebuilt Metropolis of the future appear with millions of people inhabiting it. As he completely fades from view, Savage bows his head and says a final thank you to Superman as this means he must have stopped him in the past, and in doing so he may have redeemed his immortal soul with that act.

He's set up hundreds of camera in the city so that everyone can see the action as it takes place. The League arrives and with his x-ray vision Superman quickly spots the bomb hidden in a casino. He and Flash get to it first and are trying to defuse it when they're attacked by Joker's new associates, the Royal Flush Gang. They include Jack who can stretch his body into any shape, Ten who's super-strong, King who can fire blasts from his hands, Queen who has magnetic powers, and Ace who justs stares at the camera. They stop the Flash and Superman at first but then the rest of the League arrives and the battle falls into the streets.
Joker explains to the TV audience that the young people he calls the Royal Flush Gang where in fact children taken from their families by the government because they had meta-human abilities. Joker killed the staff at the secret base where the children were kept and then the young people became proteges of his and he's using them to counteract the Leagues powers. The two sides fight while Batman defuses the bomb but that only sets off the bomb prematurely! However, it merely explodes with streamers, minor firecrackers, and a giant inflatable Joker doll. Batman signals the rest of the League and they let the Royal Flush Gang run off as finding the real bomb is now the priority. But when Superman scans the city he finds not one bomb, but 25 more in all sprinkled around the town and there's only thirteen minutes to go!
The League splits up and each one goes after bombs but each ones battles a Royal Flush member who is intent on stopping them and letting the bomb explode. Ten and Superman are beating each other up, and Flash is running around defusing bombs as fast as he can. Jack's giving Batman a hard time with his stretching power and Green Lantern and Hawkgirl stop the Queen and work on defusing another bomb. But The Joker decides to cheat and detonates the bomb which catches Green Lantern in the blast as he throws Hawkgirl to safety. She drags his battered body from the rubble and flies him to the Watchtower to hopefully save his life. Batman throws Jacks rubber-band body into the blades of the helicopter Harley Quinn's flying in causing it to crash.
With only two minutes to go there's one bomb left and then the Joker sends the King and Ten to hold off the League. They delay Superman enough so that the bomb starts to blow but the Flash runs it out of town with only one second to go and it explodes harmlessly out in the desert. At first the Joker acts upset, but then he confesses that by now millions are watching the show and that's all he really ever wanted because now Ace will use her powers to make everyone watching go insane! Unable to look away from the screen, Ace has hypnotized everbody watching and now she'll destroy their minds with her power! The only thing that ever controlled her at the secret base was a mind control collar and now nothing will stop her. The League members find themselves going insane seeing all sorts of things that aren't really there. Harley interrupts all this by getting into a fight with the Joker, but Batman used Harley to trail her to the Joker's hideout.
Ace uses her power on Batman and slowly makes him crazy with hallucinations as the Joker beats him mercilessly. Then Batman grabs a mind control collar that the Joker kept on him just in case Ace turned on him. She sees that the Joker has been using her just as the government wanted to and she suddenly stops her mental assault on the TV viewers and turns her power on the Joker until he's left a mindless victim of his own evil plot. Green Lantern recovers from the bomb blast and he tells Hawkgirl that he's falling on love with her and she initially won't admit her feeelings for him. But then he removes her helmet and kisses her and the two embrace showing their true feelings for each other at last. From now on, they will have each other and that's the most anyone could hope or ask for, someone to be with in their life.

Then when Flash and Superman remark that it's a perfect way to start Christmas, J'onn J'onnz proclaims that the season has no meaning for him as an alien to our world. Upon hearing that, Superman decides to show J'onn just what Christmas means to millions of our world's inhabitants. Back on the ice planet Hawkgirl and Green Lantern get into a snowball fight and engage in some serious fun for a change from their usual life of combat and peril.
Back on Earth in Central City, Flash is paying his annual Christmas visit to the orphanage children. They ask him to find them this year's hottest toy, "DJ Rubber Duckie", and the Flash says he'll take care of it despite the fact the toy's sold out everywhere. Meanwhile, the Kent farm in Smallville Kansas gets not only its favorite son Clark home for the holidays, but Superman's also bought J'onn J'onnz home with him for Christmas to show the last martian what the holiday's all about. Supergirl's cat Streaky makes J'onn uncomfortable by hissing at him when they meet as J'onn is using Kara's room while she's off at a ski resort with Batgirl.
The snowball fight between Hawkgirl and Green Lantern escalates into a snowball war and the two finally call a truce. Then Hawkgirl asks Green Lantern to take her to a special planet for the holiday and he agrees. Flash has found out that DJ Rubber Duckie is sold out everywhere and he ends up running to the factory in Japan where they're made just in time to get the last one they have in stock. And J'onn gets his first Christmas present in the form of a sweater from Ma Kent that he immediately puts on and warms up in. And the distant planet that Hawkgirl and Green Lantern go to has a bar where Hawkgirl shows Green Lantern how to drink hard and fight hard to party well. Within fives minutes of arriving they've tried the local brew and Hawkgirl's started a bar brawl to show Green Lantern how she likes to have a good time.
When the Flash runs into the Ultra Humanite on the way to the orphanage, they fight and during the battle the DJ Rubber Duckie gets smashed. When the Ultra Humanite hears from Flash who the toy was intended for, he calls a truce and repairs the toy for the orphans. And J'onn J'onnz flies through Smallville seeing people being friendly to each other and singing hymns in church and he evens eats some Oreos that a little girl left out for Santa Claus and he starts to see why we love Christmas so. Then the Flash and the Ultra Humanite together deliver the DJ Rubber Duckie to the orphan's delight proving that criminals love Christmas too. And back on the Kent farm, J'onn wakes the Kents on Christmas morning by singing songs from his lost civilization as his gift to them. And Streaky the cat purrs and naps in J'onn's lap while he sings, showing all creatures love Christmas morning wherever they are.

Our Story:
The Justice League is in Washington D.C. on a tip that an international peace summit has been targeted by terrorists. Suddenly over the U.S. capitol's skies appears a huge spacecraft blasting away at the city! Our Air Force's jets are overwhelmed by the ship's superior weaponry and begin to fall. The Justice League attacks but the ship blasts right back holding them off. Then a giant energy beam slices through the skies disabling the invader causing it to crash. The even larger spacecraft that blasted the first ship lands and the Justice League prepares to renew their attack when Hawkgirl tells them to wait. And as the ship lands and the door opens, we see this new craft is piloted by Hawkgirl's people, the Thanagarians!
Hro Talek leads the Thanagarians and he immediately demands a meeeting with Earth's leaders. He informs them that Hawkgirl was sent here five years ago to assess our planet's defenses and report back to Thanagar regularly. It seems that a humanoid lizard race called the Gordanians has warred with Thanagar for centuries in their bid to rule the cosmos. Now they are coming to invade Earth and our world will fall unless our governments allow the Thanagarians to build a force-field device to hold them back. Green Lantern confronts Hawkgirl angrily after the meeeting demanding to know why she held this information back from them all and she replies she's a soldier sworn to duty and secrecy and though she wanted to tell John several times her oath wouldn't allow it.
Then Hro approaches them and kisses Hawkgirl who then tells John she is engaged to marry Hro Talek even though she and John have had a relationship for months. Then Hro receives word that the Earth's governments have agreed to let the force-field device be built in the remote Gobi desert. The Thangarians get to work building the huge machine with some high-powered help from the Justice League. Batman is suspicious of the whole affair and he examines one of the dead Gordanians that died in the crash in Washington. He finds that they were all dead long before their ship crashed and the Thanagarians used the event to bring us over to their side in the conflict!
Batman disguises himself and enters the force-field complex with visiting Earth diplomats on a tour of the facility. He spies on Hro Talek communicating with his leaders back on Thanagar and learns that the Gordanians are attacking there and not on Earth. Then Batman is cornered and caught by the Thanagarians who decide since they've been discovered, they'll simply invade Earth outright and take over our planet while completing their device's construction! Wonder Woman informs the rest of the League who all fight valiantly but the Thanagarians use the knowledge Hawkgirl had been sending them for years to exploit the League member's weaknesses and they all end up being captured! And then they use their superior technology to conquer our armed forces and the planet is theirs!
Hawkgirl is told to kill her fellow Justice League members but she refuses citing the fact that the Earth's people would revolt if they killed our heroes. Wonder Woman manages to overcome her guard and she frees herself and the rest of the League. They escape and then they hide out as civilians to head in teams of twos towards Gotham City so they can rendevous at Bruce Wayne's house there. Then Hawkgirl finds out that they are not building a force field, but a hyperspace bypass so they can invade the Gordanians behind their lines and destroy them once and for all ending the war. When Hawkgirl points out to Hro that opening a hyperspace bypass will destroy the Earth, he tells her that the billions of lives killed here will save that many lives on Thanagar and that is the price of ending their fight with the Gordanians!
The Justice League manages to make it to Bruce Wayne's house where they enter the Batcave to plan their strategy. Suddenly Hawkgirl shows up and tells the Justice League the truth about the device being built which will destroy the Earth. She leaves and when she returns to the command ship, it seems that Lt. Kragger had her tracked to Wayne Manor and she's arrested and on Hro Talek's orders the Thanagarians head to kill the Justice League! Batman tells Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman to attack the command ship and turn off the forcefield protecting the hyperspace bypass the Thanagarians are building. Then the Thanagarians attack the Batcave, but their strikeforce is beaten by the League and Batman, J'onn, and the Flash use the captured Thanagarian fighter to sneak back onboard the Watchtower.
While the Thanagarians battle the attacking Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman; Batman, the Flash and J'onn manage to recapture the Watchtower. Then Batman tells them he intends to pilot the Watchtower towards Earth and ram it straight into the Thanagarian device! He then sends J'onn, the Flash and the Thanagarians they captured off on escape pods to Earth while he steers the Watchtower down through the atmosphere. Huge engines fire up and the Watchtower begins to purposely fall to Earth. It begins to heat up and burn from reentry and Batman grimly hangs onto the controls to make sure it directly hits the Thanagarian complex on Earth ensuring it's total destruction! Back at the Thanagarian fleet, Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman are steadily battling their way to the command ship, and Hro orders that his rival for Hawkgirl's love, Green Lantern, be let through the lines to confront him personally.
Wonder Woman fights her way onboard and seeing Hawkgirl locked in a cell, she frees her and fights onward. Then Green Lantern enters the forcefield control room and Hro challenges him to combat if he wants to reach the shutdown switch. The two fight around the room with neither backing down until finally Hro manages to destroy John's ring and then he knocks him out. As he's about to kill John, Hawkgirl flies into the room and she and Hro battle each other ferociously. As they do, the Watchtower hurls earthward at fatal speed, breaking into molten metal shards and disintegrating around Batman as he struggles to guide it to its target. Superman learns what Batman is doing and streaks towards the falling juggernaut, hoping to save Batman before he perishes in the deadly heat!
Hro and Shayera fight until Hro bests her and then Green Lantern revives and picks up the struggle. He takes a terrific beating at Hro's hands but will not give up. Hro charges in for the kill with his power-axe and John ducks out of the way to let Hro's axe strike the field protecting the shutdown switch. In a wild sparking feedback, Hro's axe and the field both explode knocking the Thanagarian commander unconscious. John and Shayera both help each other push down the immense switch and finally the forcefield around the hyperspace bypass device falls. Batman has passed out from the tremendous heat just as the Watchtower is about to strike the Earth and the Thanagarian device head-on. Superman bursts straight through the walls and grabbing Batman he flies away with all his speed just as the Watchtower hits. A tremendous explosion rocks the ground, leaving an impact crater miles wide with nothing remaining. Batman and Superman smile at their near escape, and fly back to rejoin the others.
Onboard the control ship, Hro has awakened and he tells his warriors to stand down from the battle and evacuate the Earth, as their mission is now officially a failure with the device destroyed. He tells Hawkgirl she has set them back years, and she responds that killing the people of Earth was never part of the plan and she could never have gone along with it. After the Thanagarians have left our planet, the Justice League members hold a vote as to wether or not Shayera will be allowed to stay on in the League after her role in the recent invasion. Before she can learn how the vote went, she tells the Justice League that she is resigning immediately, as she couldn't expect them to ever completely trust her again. John asks Shayera if she really loved him and she replies that she always will but she must leave. As she flies away, John has tears in his eyes as he tells her he loves her too. It took a centuries old alien war to tear the two apart along with each other's heart.
