Tim Sheridan Talks “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” Animated Movie

In the upcoming animated movie “Superman: Man of Tomorrow,” Daily Planet intern Clark Kent takes learning-on-the-job to new extremes when Lobo and Parasite set their sights on Metropolis. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC, the feature-length animated film will be released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Digital starting August 23, 2020, and on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack on September 8, 2020.

DCComics.com reports that screenwriter Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen) has drawn inspiration from a variety of DC sources – Superman: American Alien and Superman: Birthright, with a touch of several others – as well as his own fertile imagination to deliver a story focusing on Clark Kent’s rise from Kansas farm boy to full-fledged DC Super Hero. It’s Clark’s search for identity as he encounters a learning curve in every aspect of his life – not only in terms of his evolution as the Man of Steel, but for his journalistic career and in the complicated transition of a small town kid trying to find his way in the big city. The film focuses mostly on his post-Smallville life, but before his romance with Lois Lane really begins. It’s far more a tale of Clark Kent than Superman. But as with most origin stories, the fun is watching the inevitability of the hero rising.

Voicing the role of Superman is Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Darren Criss, who, according to DC Comics, is an absolute comic nerd who revels in the role.

There was even a very sweet moment during recording where you could see Criss get caught up in the iconic grandeur of it all. “It warmed my heart to even see it on the page,” he said. “And to know, at the moment, I was the one who got to say it. It was so classic, I felt unworthy. And all the line said was, ‘Are you alright, Miss Lane?’ It really gave me pause.”

Superman: Man of Tomorrow will be available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack (USA $39.99 SRP; Canada $44.98 SRP) and Blu-ray Combo Pack (USA $24.98 SRP; Canada $29.98 SRP) as well as on Digital. The 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack features an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc in 4K with HDR, a Blu-ray disc featuring the film in hi-definition, and a digital version of the movie. The Blu-ray Combo Pack features a Blu-ray disc with the film in hi-definition, a DVD with the film in standard definition, and a digital version of the movie.

@Superman2878 – Same here! I can’t wait to watch this animated film. I’m so glad that we’ll get to see more of Superman’s rogues gallery, especially Parasite.

I find it to be very interesting that they decided to make Parasite into a monster rather than a guy with superpowers in a purple jumpsuit.

I kind of like the art I’ve seen from this so far, but I’m really wondering why they couldn’t just give Supes the classic gold belt if they were going to go with the red trunks. What they’ve ended up with just looks … odd. Either the Classic or Rebirth looks would’ve been way better.
