“AMC Visionaries: Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics” is the new documentary series spearheaded by Robert Kirkman (creator of “The Walking Dead” comic) that begins airing on November 12th and 13th on AMC and mixes interviews and fully-scripted, dramatic re-creations to look at key moments in the history of comics.
The November 20th episode, “The Trials of Superman”, traces the journey of the legal perils faced by Superman creators Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel.
Canadian actors Blaine Anderson and Brendan Taylor play Shuster and Siegel in the episode.

BLAINE ANDERSON AND BRENDAN TAYLOR TO STAR IN NEW AMC TV SERIES “AMC VISIONARIES: ROBERT KIRKMAN’S SECRET HISTORY OF COMICS”
Canadian actors Blaine Anderson and Brendan Taylor will star in an episode of AMC’s new series “AMC Visionaries: Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics” as comic book legends Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel. The episode, entitled “The Trials of Superman” airs Monday, November 20th at 10PM ET/PT on AMC.
Executive-produced by Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”), Dave Alpert, Daniel Junge, and Rory Karpf, the six- part documentary series premieres as a two-night event on Sunday, November 12th at 11PM ET/PT and Monday, November 13th at 10PM ET/PT with each episode examining a different storyline relating to comic book history using interviews with the likes of Stan Lee, Kevin Smith, and Patty Jenkins alongside in-depth, dramatic re-creations of key historical journeys.
“The Trials of Superman” episode examines the comic book origins of Superman and the legal aftermath that plagued its creators, Joe Shuster (Blaine Anderson) and Jerry Siegel (Brendan Taylor).
“It’s easy to take for granted where great comic book characters come from. I think this episode shares the missing pieces in a truly engaging way,” says Anderson, “I really feel like AMC has captured the uniqueness of their journey.”
Taylor adds, “Shuster and Siegel’s fight for justice resonates with what Superman stands for. I really believe people are going to watch this and see Superman from a more informed perspective.”
For Anderson and Taylor, “The Trials of Superman” represents a new milestone in their unique and diverse careers.
Through his own production company, Anderson has already co-produced and co-starred in two of his own feature films since 2015, including 2017’s “Residue” with James Clayton (“The 100”), Taylor Hickson (“Deadpool”), Elysia Rotaru (“Arrow”) and William B. Davis (“The X-Files”). It premiered at the 2017 Sunscreen International Film Festival and won Most Shocking Horror Feature at Crypticon Kansas City Horror Film Festival.
Taylor gained unexpected television awareness through a locally-produced Doritos ad “When Pigs Fly” that was selected through a contest to air during the 2015 Super Bowl. After moving on to guest appearances on the likes of “Supernatural” and “Fargo”, he currently enjoys a recurring role on E!’s dramatic series, “The Arrangement”. The racially-charged short film “The Prince”, also co-starring Taylor, was recently showcased at Philadelphia’s FirstGlance Film Festival.
As their career paths continue to grow, Anderson and Taylor are equally keen to share their participation in “The Trials of Superman” with comic book fans and Superman history buffs alike.
