The Essential “Smallville” – 22 Years On

SmallvilleTwenty two years ago on this very day (October 16, 2001), “Smallville” premiered on television.

Superman fan Douglas Meacham (with help from Trentus Magnus) put together “The Essential SMALLVILLE!”, a compilation of the must-see episodes of 10 seasons of “Smallville”.

Doug explains, “‘Smallville’ has been a large part of my young adult life. This list dates back, in rudimentary form, to as far as 2007, before the series ended. I rewatched the show to create this finalized list for posting on the Superman Homepage for the anniversary of the show’s airing. It reduces the show to a little more than half the total episodes, and it’s my hope that it will serve as a good guided tour of the series for new watchers and a refresher for seasoned ones.”

“As mentioned above, Trentus Magnus was very helpful in contributing his feedback and opinion on which episodes should be included. He covers the show in depth in his podcast ‘Trentus Magnus Punches Reality’. I highly recommend giving these episodes and the show in general a listen. I also invite feedback from you as well. You can e-mail me your opinions and viewing experiences at poseidon_6@yahoo.com. In the meantime, up, up, and away!”

definitely enjoyed many of those episodes on the list. I also read the season 11 comic book series as well as smallville’s Clark’s return in the recent CW Crisis crossover.

Any news on that animated Smallville series that Tom Welling mentioned a few months ago?

I was hit and miss on watching this show. Might bookmark this list and, if it is on a streaming service I have, watch them.

I’ve been rewatching the series lately, I’m currently uo to season 4. It’s not my favourite adaption of Superman, but the cast mostly saves it. However of the problems I do have with the series, there is one that as minor as it is, annoys the hell outta me. Every single time a character has something important to say, they turn their back on the character they are talking to. Every. Single. Time. For all it’s problems with inconsistent story and character, poor writing and questionable plot points, this one thing, as minor and as unimportant as it is, is… Read more »
