Since when did Doomsday get heat vision?

Anyway, they just confirmed that it’s New52 Doomsday in this video.

Well, Doomsday is Kryptonian right? so that makes perfect sense.

As far as that being the New 52 Doomsday, I would say he is more of a hybrid if anything because he has hair unlike the New 52 (more like the original) and no rounded long horns coming from the cheek area but there are some slight similarities there … also, no Doomsday virus.

Yeah, super-disappointing considering the New 52 continuity has been dead for a while.

Maybe after these two films, they will course correct the animated movie universe and bring it more in line with the Rebirth continuity.

Get rid of that collar, and the black \S/ on the cape for the sequel please.

It also confirms that Superman wants to be and will be with Lois! Cool! Okay! I wonder how they’ll explain what happened with Superman/Diana, before or during this movie.

You could see it in happening in Throne of Atlantis. When Clark and Diana were having dinner and holding hands Lois came and then Clark pulled his hand away from Diana – that is definitely the start, I’m sure more will/has happened since.

Wish it wasn’t New 52 and I wish Bourassa would go back to his previous figure style.

Still not sold on the New 52 continuity thing, but this looks better than I thought it was going to, so that’s promising.

This looks like crap. No red trunks and yellow belt on Superman + New 52 JL War Continuity = no money from me.

They New52’d it! I think I’ll stick to Superman: Doomsday

Again I really think this movie will be what brings this continuity into line with the Rebirth continuity. He will most likely get a better costume by the end of it. Since I notice they really want to bring all their products into synergy with the current comic runs.

My gut feeling says that the classic look will return for The Return Of Superman. While I personally don’t mind the New 52 design, I really am looking forward to this.

I hope not, I really like the New 52 suit and wouldn’t mind it going to wear it is now with a cross between the New 52 suit and the original, but please no red trunks, it is such a vastly outdated look.

I’d be fine with his Reborn look from the current comics but honestly that old chestnut about his classic look being outdated is outdated at this point.

Well, you know what they say about opinions … but even DC THEMSELVES said the look was outdated so they decided to get rid of the red trunks. I mean if the those in charge of the character say it then it isn’t an outdated point and it holds water … and they also chose not to live in the past with the character.

It’s nice seeing Jerry O’Connell showing his enthusiasm for Superman while voicing the role in this video.

I think it’s interesting that Jerry O’Connell got his big break by playing a kid who gained super powers in the TV series My Secret Identity and he’s now voicing Superman.

I am fine with Clark and Lois being together in this movie. That is how it was in Death of Superman. BUT, since they decided to set it in this New 52 continuity of movies, I don’t want to see them ignore the Superman x WW relationship as if it didn’t even happen. Because it did. I want some kind of explanation as to why they aren’t together anymore.

Other than that I am looking forward to seeing it.

Kinda of Disappointed this is going to be a New 52 version, instead of a true Adaption of the comic like WB/DC did with New Frontier & even the Dark Knight Returns. Yet after the so,so Doomsday movie they get the chance to do the actual Death & Return of Superman, only to botch it again, Lois still doesn’t know Clark is Superman? If they were really going do true Adaption she would have known by this point and been Engaged to Clark already known he’s Superman. And the look is the New 52 look, nothing like actual comics, Lois,… Read more »

They’ve completely lost me. This adaptation was suposed to be very faithful to the original story. Well, we se now that it is as faitful as that Superman:Doomsday movie. At least Jerry O’Conell is a great voice for the character.
Bye, Warner. It wasn’t a pleasure.

On the positive one departure from the comics I’m totally fine with is the line-up of the Justice League as I think it has more impact if that’s the line-up Doomsday takes out and general audiences won’t be asking things like “Who the hell is Bloodwynd?”

Actually, if I remember right, at this point in the comics Bloodwynd was Martian Manhunter

It’s in the issue that Doomsday beats Bloodwynd that Blue Beetle discovers his real identity but no one knows which identity because instantly DDay beats him and leaves him in a coma.

I totally get what you’re saying, the JLA was a minor league team with really only Maxima showing she can stand up to Doomsday, everyone else was just a prop. You would really get the impact how what Doomsday can do against Hawkman and the JL of the New 52.

Yes thank you. IMO Doomsday vs. some variation of a big 7 type line-up just adds more weight to that feeling of “Oh snap, he just took down the Justice League!” than if he runs through a league of likable schmoes. ..and a general audience (causal fans or non-comic readers) is just that much more likely to know who those characters are.

so, it’s the Death of Superman story line based in the DC52 universe?… where have the animators and storytellers been for, oh I dont know, the past year?… the DC52 is done with. when they said they were going to keep it faithful to the “original” story, I honestly thought we were going to see something faithful to THAT story, THAT interpretation, THAT aesthetic… instead we get this. in all honesty, I would rather prefer an animated version of Superman Doomed rather than this, because at least it would be faithful to the look and tone of the universe they are… Read more »

I think that despite budget limitations this storyline would be better served in a tv series (animated or live-action.) Basically this would be the way you’d cap off the third or fourth season. The Death in the season finale, the first few eps of the next season being Funeral For a Friend and The Return maybe at the mid-season mark? That would be a bit more in line with the feel of how the comics were coming out at the time and you’ll have the level of built up investment in the character the storyline really needs plus plenty of… Read more »
