The CW has announced that their upcoming December 2018 superhero crossover event will be titled “Elseworlds”.
In DC Comics publishing history, Elseworlds have been stories that take place outside the DC Universe canon. Some of the most famous Superman Elseworlds stories include “Superman: Red Son,” “Superman: Speeding Bullets,” and “Kingdom Come”.
Along with a poster image for the “Elseworlds” crossover event, The CW also announced that LaMonica Garrett (Designated Survivor) has been cast as the DC Comics character The Monitor, a.k.a. Mar Novu, “an extraterrestrial being of infinite power known as the Monitor.” The CW also announced that George Pérez (who along with Marv Wolfman created the Monitor in the classic “Crisis on Infinite Earths”) will illustrate a sketch of the Monitor that plays a prominent role in the crossover’s story.
The special 3-night “Elseworlds” crossover event will begin in “The Flash” on Sunday, December 9 at 8.00pm ET, and then continue in “Arrow” on Monday, December 10 at 8.00pm ET, and will conclude with “Supergirl” on Tuesday, December 11 at 8.00pm ET.
This explains why Superman will be in the crossover event. This is so awesome! I can’t wait to see this.
The Flash is on Sunday???
Just for this crossover event.
I hope the Superman we get in the crossover is Tyler’s actual Superman and not Tyler playing an alternate evil Superman or something.
I hope that it’s not an evil Superman or a brainwashed Superman . I don’t think that they would do that though. They already had Superman fight against Supergirl once, and the fans weren’t happy. Supergirl had her evil lookalike last year. So the evil twin card I believe wouldn’t work either. If I had to guess, they probably will do something different considering the monitor is suppose to have infinite power. And why would the monitor need to brainwash Superman if he is already that powerful? They probably will have Superman and Supergirl team up along side the other… Read more »
I do hope you’re right MattComics
I agree, I also hope that doesn’t happen. But this could also be a Injustice-style world and Batwoman brings the arrowverse crew over to help stop him as Batwoman is leading the resistance. It’s super lazy writing…annnnnd an easily plausible way they’d go. While there’s been speculation that this takes place in/on Kara’s world, the inclusion of the Monitor makes me think otherwise. And if that’s the case, I really can’t think of any other reason that Superman AND Lois would need to be involved if the crew is traveling to an alternate reality (which it sounds like they are)… Read more »
