In excellent news for Superman fans, The CW has ordered a script-to-series pickup for the “Superman and Lois” TV series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio made the unusual decision to order a complete first season of “Superman and Lois” without first producing a pilot episode.

Set to broadcast across the 2020-2021 TV season, “Superman and Lois” stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as the world’s most famous Super Hero and comic books’ most famous journalist as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.

Both Hoechlin and Tulloch have already appeared as these iconic characters in multiple episodes of The CW’s DC Super Hero series, including this season’s Crisis on Infinite Earths Crossover event, which concludes tonight.

Based on the characters from DC created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, “SUPERMAN & LOIS” is written and executive produced by Todd Helbing (“The Flash”) and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns. The series is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

This is great news that I’m happy about. 🙂
Now how about a Brandon Routh Kingdom Come Superman HBO Max series WB? 😉

I mean, it’s The CW; what else do they have?

Also, not to rain on anyone’s parade, but it remains to be seen if this is indeed good news for Superman fans. At this point, whenever something Superman-related comes out, the first question in my mind is “how much damage will this do to the character in the long term”.

Also also, change the bloody costume. It’s the worst Superman costume I’ve seen and that includes New52/Rebirth.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me this is good news. And as a superman fan I feel that this is good news. I like Tyler as Superman. He’s not perfect I’ll will admit that, but he’s done a pretty good job I feel. And whatever mistakes that his superman has made, I feel that that’s the writer’s fault and not Tyler’s. He’s only working with what he’s given. I will agree with you that his costume does need to be changed. I’m not a fan of the shoulder straps that they have going for him.

I have no problem with Tyler. It’s this enterprise of bottom-tier super-hero teen drama the CW revels in that makes me cynical and I have no confidence in these people to write Superman correctly.

I do agree that they need improvements with the writing

Agreed on everything. I used to be excited for things like this but now it’s mostly worry.

Sadly they probably won’t change the suit, I wish they would do what they did with Brandon’s Kingdom Come suit and just put the classic S on it

I think something to keep in mind is that Tyler’s Superman won’t be in Melissa’s Supergirl’s shadow. A problem that has been an occurrence when he would show up from time to time. Now that he has his own show, he will most likely be the spotlight hero.

Yeah but they already established that he IS in Kara’s shadow in the “arrowverse” right now (which still has me scratching my head as to why it’s even a thing. WHY is there even a “competition” among 2 kryptonian heroes?). He’s already given up being Superman because he’s afraid of losing everything (something I still vehemently disagree with as a character trait for any Clark that dons the cape.) Sure, they kinda fixed it in the cross over saying he realized he was wrong, but it’s writing like that in the first place that makes me nervous. As thrilled as… Read more »

I don’t think that he will be in Supergirl’s shadow much longer. She won’t be able to show up on Superman’s and Lois’s show every week to do so. This will give Superman an excellent opportunity to shine as the hero he’s meant to be. And there’s still a lot of villains that haven’t been on Supergirl’s show for Superman to fight that could help build up his superhero image. There’s Eradicator, Mongul, Conduit, Darkside, Imperiex, savior, Massacre,Superboy prime, Dominus. Big villains for him to fight to help build up that image of him as the hero he’s meant to… Read more »

I say this as someone who adores Lois Lane, but I fully expect him to be in Lois’ shadow instead.

I really don’t think that he would be in Lois’s shadow. The only possibile way that they would do that on a weekly basis that I could think of is if they were to give Lois some superpowers. So far I haven’t seen any indication that she has any. Perhaps as a journalist she might outshine him in the series, but since this won’t be Supergirl’s show, I have a feeling that it’s going to be similar in the tone of the Flash from his earlier seasons. Sure there might be other heroes that might possibly show up but I… Read more »

Well tonight is the final night of the crossover event. I just wanted to say that whatever the outcome of this crossover may be, whether it be Brandon’s Superman returning for the finale of the crossover or not, I will continue to support his Superman and advocate for him to have a Superman series. I want to thank all of my fellow Superman fans for supporting Brandon in his return to the role of Superman. And for the support in advocating for him to have his own Superman series. You are doing a great job everyone! I will continue to… Read more »

I wanted a ‘Man Of Steel 2’ but this will do for now. A new Superman/Lois series is GREAT, and love that the Superman Home Page will finally have weekly ‘Superman’ news to report on…
